As a child of five, in the middle of a hot sweltering summer, you were out in a park playing with yourself. No kid wanting to be seen with you. Parents were there with their children enjoying themselves. In one corner of the park, an icecream vendor.
Oh how inviting those cold cones looked on that sweltering day. You see children and adults enjoying icecream in various forms. Sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate chips. The stuff your dreams are made of. Unable to resist further you walk over and see the sign. "PLAIN VANILLA 200YEN, TOPPINGS 100YEN"
You reach into your worn pants' pocket, drawing out a pair of 100yen coins. You found one of them While playing in the sandbox a few weeks ago, the other one you saw in a rain ditch after a light shower. You held on to these two coins for quite some time. This was your only treasure. Your life savings.
You take another step towards the ice cream stall. The alluring white swirls of frozen milk pulling you in.
Another step forward. You've made up your mind. You will buy icecream. You will savor it.
Before you can take another step more, your father appears over your shoulder. "Oh hey, Just who I was looking for." He says. "What's this?" he spies the coins in your hands. "you want me to invest this towaards our dreams?" He takes them from your hand. "PERFECT! There was this newly opened pachinko place downtown where i know i can hit it big." "See you son! Our dreams will come true tonight!"
He disappears before you can even react. You look up at the clear summer sky, unable to put into words your frustration. YOu see big, dark, heavy clouds swiftly begins to move in from the west. And the rain begins to pour |
