lets go to seakay, see if we can find a blacksmith and archatect. visit that jewler. see about courting shefs daughter, give her the alchemy gift and vial/bottle of dragon blood.

    also from wiki
    >Peat is important for farmers and gardeners, who mix it into soil to improve its structure and to increase acidity. The most important property of peat is retaining moisture in soil when it is dry and yet preventing the excess of water from killing roots when it is wet.

this sounds like we could use our excess peat to improve the soil quality.

    repostan here:
A tea tree starts out as a bush (and stays that way due to trimming). I doubt the whole swamp is only old trees. And seeds usually survive fires.

    >> Anonymous 04/24/10(Sat)09:15 No.9397208
    >>9397195
The problem isn't so much about seeds surviving. The problem has more to do with water tables. Without the trees there to keep the water table down you get flooding. The excess water leads to the trees that survived initially drowning which makes the water table problems even worse. Eventually what you end up with is a swamp.
    >> Anonymous 04/24/10(Sat)09:16 No.9397216
To clarify for the guy in the other thread, tea trees produce a mildly anti-microbial oil, not tea. They're quite common here in Australia.

The soil is bad for farming due to being too acidic, and full of rocks. So no, the other village can't use it to farm, but you're hardly short of arable land.

for every unit of peat you used on a crop, you add 1/10th to the yield, up to 10 units of peat on a single crop. How many on what crops?

Look at this way, we're going to have lots of chances to improve her opinion of us. However, that ring saved our asses royally last time. Having two uses a month would be fantastic.

And, in a absolute worst case scenario where we flame out with Sarah, not that it's going to happen, we can use the ring wooing somebody else. Hell, we can even leave it as an heirloom for our kids. And having stronger magic items means you love them more. It's like having better presents at Christmas.

Not particularly. Some noble families train their sons in music, it's a fashionable skill for a lord to have. Your family was more about fighting drills. Even your younger brother who joined the priesthood was enlisted as a priest of Wayd, a notoriously violent god, known for fighting for the sake of fighting. His priests are somewhere between paladins and mercenaries.

With a dragons claw in a bag for Sheff (with some leather to cover the claws) you arrive at Seakay. You present him with the gorey trophy as you greet him outside his manor.

    Pic related :)

Known for being violent in the extremes, the psychopathic paladins of wayde bathe in a death-pool of blood of past members at their induction. It is whispered that spirits of previous members will 'haunt' the new preist, advising him, and helping him battle. They are famed for their ability to multi-task in battle, often gibbering insults and nonsense as they attack. civilised beserkers, they are only put up with as they are at the behest of the king, and in emergencies are fielded as an undisciplined but amazing fighting force.
    +1 rep with Wayd.

    >>9398088
No need for monotheism here, Wayd and Byron are friendly with eachother, their love of brawling and rough sports making them well disposed towards each other. Doesn't mean they don't fight occasionally, but there is no malice in it.

You take Sheffs leave, to go and see Sarah.

"Not so fast laddy. I know you're a fine upstanding young man, but the young man part of that means you're crazy if you think I'm letting you near my daughter unchaperoned. See James, before you head up to see Sarah, he should be in his quarters. The servants will let you know the way. He's our head valet, and has acted chaperone for the girls before. There's a basin in the entrance hall too, for your hands."

You look around, and see a funtional work desk, with some scrolls pinned to a board and others nearby in a small scroll-shelf. She hurriedly rips down a couple of the pinned notes, and puts them into a draw. After some alchemy talk, as you tell her of the virtues of dragon blood, and give her some (in the finest jar you had available, nothing gold inlaid or fancible, but practical and better then a water skin. Lawyers cane is an actual plant. We get in in Queensland, it's a bastard. It's barbs on barbs on barbs, and even the tiniest scratches flare up like no tomorrow. The smallest barbs are barely hairs, and they cover the thing. They're tough as all get out, and everything catches on them.

Oh! I've been working on a few things. Mainly testing how certain mushrooms and their essences can effect a potion. I've been having interesting effects with Carp Mushrooms, they tend to have a slowing effect on a reaction, without disturbing the potency.

Indeed, if the poison is alchemical in nature. I haven't tested this with anything lethal yet, only rashes, painkillers, and more importantly chemical reactions. It allows me to observe what's occurring, without overly effecting the ingredients or quantities involved in a reaction.
