You are John James Green, mutant vagrant.

The flicker of the furnace is the only light in here. It carves thrashing, orange teeth into the boundaries of the dark, your understanding of your surroundings written in momentary, snap-firing ebbs and flows. You think this place is some kind of boiler room, maybe a huge basement. The room before must’ve been garage or something. The walls are bare, extending high overhead, and the ceiling is a pit of seething black, no stars or motes of overburdened grey to indicate a skylight of any kind.

Heaving yourself up, Laura wrapped in your arms, you trudge through the fluttering gloom, eyes burning in their sockets. Can’t see properly. Everything curdling at the edges, coiling out of being, like pages being turned too fast. Or slowly succumbing to the attentions of a slow, patient flame.

“You okay?” You rasp out, glancing down at Laura. She stares impenetrably up at you, then down to her feet, currently two bundles of spitting, roasted gristle. “Guess not.”

Yeah. Guess not.

Breath’s rattling in your lungs now. Adrenaline’s fading and you can feel the anaesthetics lurking like pale shadows in the void it leaves behind. The hair stands up on the back of your neck and you hear the unmistakable crack of static electricity, like lightning flashing far too close to the ground, from the room next door. There are shouts and grunts, and something hits the huge iron door hard, leaving a barely-perceptible dent visible even from this side.

You glance up. Looks like there’s a set of windows set way, way up against the wall, but they must be at least nine or ten meters off the ground. You don’t know if you can climb that in your current state, or if you can even climb at all.

Guys after we buy Healing 3 can we please start investing points into claws?
>[ ] Ask her how long before she can walk.
>>
>>30569518
I'm with this guy. I say we ask Laura's opinion. If she can't talk yet then the only real option left is to climb. I'd rather avoid that, I expect a high DC in our condition and we've bumbled our climbs more often than not.

ignore my old post, I sperged out or some shit.
>>
>>30569569
I'd rather have enhanced agility, to be honest claws seem a little underwhelming when you have super-strength. I could be convinced otherwise though. Taser-hands also seems like it could be good offensively and non-lethal
>>
>>30569600
its more for the extrapolatives
Theres some really fun stuff that needs 2 and 3
>>
>>30569569
claws are a shit, would rather have agility
>>
>>30569600
Claws and superstrength stack, and given that we can only get up to 3 superstrength we need that to compensate.

Also spinal tail.
>>
>>30569600
Well, lvl 2 claws are steel cutters, so there's that.
If you get a tail, that has a serrated barb that's same as your claws, so you'd basically have a whip that slices steel... to an extent.
>>
>>30569569
I'm voting for Geointuitive vision unless we lose a limb or get shot or something.
>>
For fucks sake claws are waste of points. Ether get healing 3, or agility.
>>
>>30569582
If we would have bought agility last thread this wouldn't be an issue.
>>
>>30569677
Geointuitive vision is good one too. We could start successfully trowing shit and slowing other people down. Ether that or agility (healing is good to, we crack bich).
Geointuitive combines both offense, and defense, dogging bullets, and trowing shit. Maybe go for that.
>>
>>30569690
We're not deciding anything right now, we're just talking.
Besides, there's no such thing as a waste of points, unless we're in a dire situation where we NEED to pick a certain mutation in order to survive.
All of the mutations are useful, some just have more utility than others.
>>
Are we strong enough to punch through walls?
Depending on the walls here we could just make a new exit.
>>
>[X] Ask her how long before she can walk.

That looks like a long way to fall in your present state. And your first vertical outing ended in a rather undignified heap beneath the windows of Sacred Tree Orphanage.

“Are… are you healing?” You ask, not particularly willing to take a closer look at the state of Laura’s feet. Jus the smell alone… Christ, its like something born from one of your nightmares, like the way you imagine you should’ve roasted.

She nods.

Good. That’s good.

“How long till you can walk?”

Someone unleashes a long, cruel scream of pent-up rage outside. Sounds like Kimura. Laura bunches up, muscles tightening in an effort to be small, before the sound recedes and you’re back to the leaden utterings of things hitting walls.

She holds up three fingers. Yeah, you forgot her tongue was all burned to hell…

You hope that’s three minutes rather than three hours.

>[ ] Wait.
>[ ] No time for that, try the window.
>[ ] Maybe you can just run straight through the carnage with Laura in tow.
>[ ] Listen at the door.
>[ ] Write in.
>>
>>30569751
We're going to need it with agility, but I'd rather get the geointuitive vision first simply because we lack ranged attack and since we've got super strenght, we can throw stuff pretty hard.
>>
>>30569771
Window, we leaving now.
>>
>>30569758
Depends on the wall.

It'll take a while, but you could feasibly keep smashing through concrete until you eke out a big enough hole to escape through. You WILL fuck up your hand, though.

We are getting improved melee attacks, wile fighting invulnerable enemies with guns, and having no defensive/evasion/healing abilities. Why?
We have invisibility and senses, super strength and agility. We could be perfect sniper.
>>
>>30569778
That's a fair point, we have all the prerequisites?
>>
>>30569847

>>
>>30569873
Just missing 1 X-point and we can go for it.

GEOINTUITIVE VISION
Requires: Level 4 Enhanced Senses.
Cost: 3
JJ’s visual perception becomes rigorously attuned to geometric patterns, trajectories, and pathways. He can intuitively know how best to aim an object so that it gets from point A to point B, predict the trajectories of moving forces in visual range, and know exactly the angle and velocity required to ‘bounce’ an object along a predetermined pathway.

With lvl 2 agility and this we could also dodge bullets. Difficult roll for sure, but it's possible.

>Nat 1
>JJ just weren’t built for climbing

You can feel yourself winding down. Whatever’s happening in the other room, you want nothing to do with it, and you’ve only got so long to get away before it spills all over your heels.

“Okay… hold on to my neck.” You say, Laura obliging quickly.

You place your palm against the wall and think hard about things that stick – frying pans, Spider-Man, geckos, post-its…

You make it a good few meters up the wall before the slumber in the back of your nerves finally dulls its way through to your fingertips, and you feel the wall shrink away, the dark tumbling around you, dragging you back down.

You land heavily on your shoulder, blood searing from the already-opened wound. The pain encloses for a moment in a buzzing universe all to itself, everything in reality skipping a bit, before the faraway ceiling and the glow of the furnace return, like a vision of the inferno clambering up toward Earth, before your eyes.

Laura lies atop you, her teeth grinding in your ears, ruined feet twitching intermittently.

She slurs something out from between burnt lips, and it takes you a second to decode it into a “Are you alright?”

You nod. Nothing’s broken. Can’t feel the subtle flow of electricity in your palms, though.

No more climbing. Maybe no more zapping, too.

Shit.

Outside, the din suddenly recedes, what was just a second ago a squawking chaos falling away into a low cluster of muffled sounds.

>[X] Listen at the door.

Leg hurts. Blood burns across your calf. Not stopping.

You think you feel tears at the corners of your eyes.

You drag yourself toward the door, propping yourself awkwardly against the cold iron. The sheer, unforgiving surface is almost a respite – it’s so hot in here, in the dark, in your skin, that the touch of metal feels like a blessing.

“I’m sorry.” Croaks Laura, her forehead pushed into your shoulder. You can feel your blood flowing through her hair, matting it together in dark, stringy lengths. “I am sorry for all of this.”

You lap hungrily at the dry air. You’re sorry too. You couldn’t have seen this coming, but you should have.

“'S alright.” You murmur, half to her and half to yourself.

It will all be alright soon. You feel the fire reaching out, finally ready to claim you, finally ready to bathe you in effortless, infinite quiet. You feared its touch, but you know, in that light-headed, dim frenzy of thought, that it was only ever there to embalm you, to wash away your failures and cast them on the breeze, and take you back to your sister, and to the dunes, and the stretching, whispering waves…

“…don’t know who the hell you think you are, kid, but I’ve had quite enough of your shit.” That’s Kimura’s voice. It reels in and out between the urgings of the ancient flame. For a moment you try to hold on to it, anchor yourself in it. “…one more move, one more stupid pirouette, and its lights out for your little friend, understand?”

You guess it’s not going well for whoever’s out there. Whatever.

Your eyes settle on Joseph’s crumpled body. Will that be you? Is that what you’ll look like soon enough? Just a heap of ruins, empty, slumped like something forgotten across the floor? You study the absence of being that surrounds him, the silence, and–

And he moves.

>[X] Stay cool, check the other room.

At first it must be nothing. Just a trick of the light. Just the slow decay of the universe, as the fire reels you further and further away…

Then she shifts, and a sound like dust sweeping over old, sun-baked steppes rustles through his chest, and he slowly turns over, rolling onto his front. You feel your eyes widen in abject horror, a sudden panic attack you – suddenly the claim of the fire upon your soul seems all the less pressing, and this all the more horrifying. Why? It’s just a man, a man who knew your father, man with weak bones and a game leg, and sunken, brittle features.

But you feel that something awful is gathering over him, like a flock of ravens descending through the dark.

“Jonathan…” Mumbles Laura, her eyes rooted in the same spot as yours.

“I know!” You hiss, pushing yourself harder against the door, some irrational fear screaming to the primal features of your mind. Get back. Go. Away. Danger. Flee. Predator.

You remember the needle stuck through his ribs. It was empty when he hit the ground.

But that doesn’t mean it was when it broke his skin.

The whir of the centrifuge returns to you. Centrifuge. Your dad had one of those. A mechanism for deploying centripetal force to apply catalytic energy. To fuse and break particles, to rip genes and sear new things into being.

Laura begins pulling herself up, her heart pounding in her chest. She can feel it too – the way the sweat perks across her, the way her blood flushes with adrenaline, you know that. It’s that same feeling of being a deer in the headlights crawling under her skin. She leans heavily against the door, her feet skewed at odd angles, and a sharp metallic SNIKT heralds the emergence of two bright razors from the gaps between her knuckles.

“Yeah.” You agree. Time to get out. You don’t even want to try going past him – the door behind you is suddenly the best idea in the world.

Staggering up, you fold a steadying arm around Laura, and edge the door open, trying to keep your back away from both the steadily rising Joseph and whatever awaits you outside.

Your eyes take a second to adjust to the light, but you soon find your heart sinking at the sight of Kimura still standing, her hair streaked with sweat and eyes widened by an indiscriminate sort of hate. The hellish machine seems to have had another few legs ripped from it, crumpled awkwardly in one corner, its captive pilot shuddering intermittently.

One of the clones is slumped across an upturned table, smoke coiling from its twitching limbs, while the other stands beside Kimura, frozen in the posture of a cat about to pounce. On the other end of the room, a short, black-clad – you think he’s wearing jeans and a hoodie, along with a scarf around his face (and… skiing goggles?) – figure is perched on one of the few stables still standing and in once piece.

None of them are moving, and you soon realize why:

Beside the door, now flung upon and revealing a dim, snow-swept night, the final clone holds the Noriko by that unmistakeable neon hair, a set of humming claws tickling at her throat. Her breath heaves her chest, agitated streaks of electricity scratching along her arms.

All eyes turn on you.

there's few good ways out of a Mexican standoff like this.

Oh. We don't need a hostage. We can just say...

Okay, so, I put together a vote out of some of things you've come up with.

>[ ] Go invisible, get halfway between clone and Kimura, split with Laura at that point, Laura goes for Noriko, we punch Kimura in the cunt.
>[ ] Invisible and deck the clone so everyone can gang up on Kimura.
>[ ] Attempt a hostage trade [insert - Laura or Joseph].
>[ ] Point out to the clones that Joseph is getting up.
>[ ] Say that Typhon doesn't look so good or won't last much longer.
>[ ] DOOM.

Note that most of these can be done, some are just much, much harder than others.
>>
>>30572223
Hell I'll go with this, I don't see actual action as the way to go here. Dialogue is the only option right now, stall at the very least.
>>
Can we toss something at the clone to get Noriko free? Maybe toss the zombie professor dude at them?
Seriously Dr doom plan is best one we have.
>>
>>30572093
Have you ever wondered why no one goes for your plans? It's cause they're shit. Because nothing says dumb-fuck like trying to go invisible and run at the thing that'd take a split second to open Noriko's throat if we so much as flinch.

"Handy things, incinerators."
Yeah, we didn't put him in there. For some reason.
They don't know that.
"Anyway... let the girl go. We don't really care about you. Walk away. Take Crispy Mengele if you want. But Kimura? She's done."
Brazen it. They should know by this point if they kill Nori, they don't make it out.
In other words, it IS a hostage trade - Nori for all of them. Except Kimura.
We probably can't back it up... but they don't know that for sure, and they look a little ragged to me. They might not chance it.

>>
>[X] Say that Typhon doesn't look so good or won't last much longer.

You can already see it. One wrong move and those claws bite straight into Noriko’s neck, and that it, you’re minus one friend – one friend who, for all her lazy half-assing, somehow came all the way out here for you. And then what happens? She goes up like a big blue nuke? She crumples like Joseph, like the string under a popped balloon, and just bleeds out on the floor? Kimura gets you and this other guy till you’re just big mounds of bleating blue and strings you up to cut on for a few hours?

“Hey, animal.” Kimura smirks, ignoring you entirely. She’s focused on the girl beside you, whose eyes are busy focusing on anything but her. “You’ve been making friends, huh?”

A moment of tense silence passes with no reply from Laura. Good. Gives you time to think.

“Well, that’s”– Her voice pitches into a vindictive shriek – “not allowed, clone! You hear me!? You don’t get these things! You don’t get friends! You don’t get a life! You just get me! And I get y”–

“Joseph isn’t looking too good.” You state, interrupting her. “Actually, I think he’s dying.”

She shoots you a stare that sits somewhere in the unlikely space between incredulity and complete apathy.

“Who the fuck even cares about”–

The clone holding Noriko in check drops her arms instantly, racing past her. Noriko collapses to her knees, and you have just a moment of disbelieving quiet to take in the respective expressions of confusion and rage that flash across the faces of the other clone and Kimura, before the latter screams out a stream of hate and fires off a crossbow bolt straight at the ski-goggled ally.

The clone beside her quickly composes herself and swiped a pistol from her hip, levelling it at you.

Hey, chill, your getting angry over a guy on the internet. Just vote against him, put forward your ideas and ignore his moaning.
>>
You freeze.

You don’t have it in you. You’re tired. You see the dull light of her eyes come in to focus, lining across the sights of her weapon. You feel the thud and the rush and the warm, tumbling nothing already, the tunnelling through you, expanding, dragging you away…

You swerve on your feet. Laura bumbles forcefully into you, pressing into your chest. The gun barks twice and you barely feel her flinch, a hiss passing along her lips as the dull, wet percussion snaps through her. She grits her teeth and swipes behind her with her arm, something tiny – you think it’s one of the cruel little drills Kimura left lying around Laura’s feet – flying from her grip, off God knows where.

The clone squeezes the trigger again, and the weapon bucks in her hand, the barrel twisting apart as the weapon backfires. Laura sags against your chest and finally breathes out a gasp of pain.

In the corner of your eye, you see your mysterious ally swivel gracefully through the air, another bolt sailing harmlessly by. Kimura lets out a disgruntled snarl and pulls her own sidearm, throwing aside the bow, her supply of bolts apparently depleted.

The clone stares blankly at her bleeding hand, before focusing once again on you, baring her intact claws and advancing quickly.

Yea, but the tail can cut through steel right at the start.
lvl 2 claws are required for tail.
lvl 2 claws are steelcutters.
The serrated barb on the tail is the level of the tail.

Therefore I believe in terms of combat effectiveness, the tail is more useful for less points.
The tongue becomes more useful if we get geointuitive vision, in which case, we just use it to grab random shit from the room and throw it.

technically we could take out Kimura in a fight if we roll well enough but we all know that isn't going to happen.

Peter is gong to jump around like a ballerina until Kimura is out of amo. After that Noriko can zap her ass off. When that happen do you want to be facing two cones and a super zombie or one clone and a super zombie.

Point is, we're going to have to fight eventually.

>16
>by an inch

Red pounds at the black of your skull. The smell of Laura’s blood rushes in your breath and you momentarily forget yourself, dropping her to free up your arms. You steel yourself against the floor and pitch your weight into the oncoming clone, ignoring the claws that score a set of long, bloody red streaks along your arm.

You wrap your fingers around her arm, squeezing with all the force you can muster, and feel the suit adjust minutely under the pressure, her mesh of artificial musculature straining to make up for the sudden strength crashing through your arms.

Her muted expression never changes as you lift her off her feet, hurling her head over heels through the air. She lands face-first upon the concrete, a dark red smear following her as she slides briefly across the floor.

You hope she gets up. Then you can do that again, and again, and maybe again after that…

“Oh, man.” A bubbling, distorted shadow of Joseph’s voice disturbs you’re the bloody vigour of your thoughts. Even Kimura, blasting at a continually elusive mystery ally with some kind of machinegun-pistol-monster hybrid, turns toward the source of the voice. “You guys’re really going at it, eh?”
>>
>>30573562
I know. It's a joke.
>>
>(2/2)

The clone that must be Seven walking alongside him, Joseph emerges from the dark, grinning lackadaisically. He’s ditched his coat and his shirt, his chest bare. His smile hangs to his face by a tenuous, stringy assortment of spitting, rearranging flesh, his skin pulsing with a fiery inner light. It’s seething to the surface, occasionally distorting his steps (which, you note, are now being made without a cane), seams splitting open in his flesh to reveal tufts of metabolic flame, before closing almost as soon as they emerge. It’s like his body has become one big, shifting mass of undecided, fiery scar tissue.

You can see musculature ripping through him, fluttering to and fro, burning old tissues and replacing them with new, harder ones. His eyes open and they are that pale, undecided blue, that shifting tone you know from your own. Except here there are no irises, no pupils, and no sclera, just brilliant, total bioluminescence.

“…Joseph…?” Mouths Kimura, disbelief seemingly alien to her harsh tone.

His expression warbles strangely, and he coughs out a chortle.

“You can’t call me that. I never said you could call me that, did I, you creepy whore?” His smile knits itself together and his ears lengthen, sharpening. Teeth like knives line his mouth. “You call me Typhon.”

Your heart swoons, something resonating deep within you, something that burns…

geointuitive vision does make that possible but JJ will be limited by his own hand eye coordination. For example there have been tons of times when playing pool were I know exactly where I need to hit the ball to make the shot but still miss because I have shaky hands.

Enhanced agility increases hand eye coordination in addition to actual agility. If we want to get a head shot on someone from three blocks away we're going to need more agility.

>close, but not close enough

You feel your heart burn a thousand miles per hour. Beats per hour. Drums per hour. Seconds. Milliseconds.

Your vision reels and you clutch at your chest, your knees screaming, your veins suddenly so swollen and clotted and full, the pounding in your breast growing into the only sound in the universe, its rhythmic, volcanic heat shrouding you, filling you with holy fire. You catch Laura’s eyes and see her stare, almost agape, her face not her face, her eyes not her eyes, and Kimura too, her jaw tearing open, and you look down, and your heart is on fire.

The light spreads through your chest, and you think of the searing, crashing halo left in the wake of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the pulsing hydrofire at the heart of the sun, and all the other greatest infernos of the world.

“What…” You voice is heavy, spilling from your lungs in rippling surges of heat. You cough and find yourself breathing out a plume of searing ash. “What is… this…?”

The fire spreads, snapping your sinews, chewing through your flesh and blessing it with its kisses. You are afraid, but there is also a primal joy, and a rage, and a pure, predatory brilliance that hones all else into fleeting, flashing nothing.

Typhon smiles warmly as the change takes him too, as his body magnifies, his features idealizing, his skin glistening, going from charred grey to copper to burnished bronze.

“Genetic prophecy.” He says.

The pain spills from your mouth as a fiery soup. You spare one last look for Laura, and something in your eyes must be telling her to get out, now, because she does. The others, too.

“Destiny.” He says.

You feel yourself explode out of your skin.

“Brotherhood.”

>>
>>30574417
There would have been another way. In a more controlled environment.
>>
>>30574371
This is our build (specifically starting as stealth hobo), plus it's fairly good.

Wings would be nice, electro-cloud is great, but not sure how good eye beams are when we could focus on our tasers instead. We have a head start on it (barely).
>>
>>30574445
Hey man, I also wanna dragon.
>>
>>30574440
>I can't... tell what your point even is anymore or how it contradicts the previous post.

Same here.
>>
We so need the photosynthesis biology when we pick one of our utility's.

If we go full dragon we can just stretch our wings out on a roof top and sunbathe when we don't need to do other things.
>>
I think Particulate Form offers ridiculous good utility even for a 1 point dip in it. Mobility isn't really an issue, and while wings are pretty cool, from a strictly mechanical point of view, Particulate Form offers much more.

Maybe, if we could grow and shed wings, and they were to retain some of our power like dragon scales I might feel differently. But, as it stands now, Particulate Form is a no-brainer.
>>
>>30574453
yeah the only things i like are subdermal and GENETIC MIMICRY: the ultimate in stealth.

but we'd need Level 3 to be useful. We ANIMORPHS only just for people
>>
>>30574435
Yes, except for utility. There are two utility slots.
>>
I think agility is a much better choice than wings.

Wings aren't exactly subtle.
>>
>>30574431
Hey crusty,

if we really go down the flying lizard tree, will there eventually be a mutation to allow an animal form morph?
>>
>>30574504
Yeah, that could happen.

Possibly a swarm form also.
>>
>>30574487
Can genetic mimicry work with animal species also? Because if not, I would love to have that as a separate mutation.
>>
>>30574489
You can get both and neither one fills the others role.
>>
[DEFENSE]
SUBDERMAL BIOWEAVE
JJ develops a lightweight, biological mesh of tensile armour under his skin, in many ways similar to the biosteel derived from spider-silk. This reinforces his soft tissues and provides a level of damage mitigation without sacrificing stealth or agility.
Level 1: Core and soft tissues are marginally reinforced, making it harder for penetrative wounds to reach JJ’s vital organs. Blades and stabbing implements will often be turned a hairsbreadth away from causing major damage.
Level 2: The mesh extends somewhat below the surface of JJ’s skin. His skin won’t be harder to break, but slicing/stabbing attacks will encounter more resistance as soon as they begin to progress any deeper.
Level 3: The strengthening of JJ’s soft tissues continues, making it possible for bullets and other high-powered forms of damage to be slowed significantly before they wreak too much havoc on JJ’s internals.
Level 4: After suffering a penetrative injury, the now bioweave reacts aggressively, temporarily strengthening protection to that area. This mitigates blood loss greatly, prevents organ or tissue spillage, and provides extra durability against a second blow to the same region.
Level 5: The biowave under JJ’s skin is now roughly as strong as Kevlar, and can stop bullets – even, for short periods, those of heavier calibre or anti-armour design – from fully penetrating his skin.
>>
>>30574536
[RANGED]
SONIC SCREAM
JJ develops the ability to emit waves of sonic force from his vocals.
Level 1: At this level, JJ may project a high-pitched beam that causes sudden and acute irritation to nearby listeners, and can strike objects with roughly the force of an expert jab.
Level 2: At this level, the soundwave may be widened to a meter, and strikes had enough to easily knock normal humans off their feet. It can be emitted as a high-pitched variant that causes intense pain and, eventually, temporary deafness.
Level 3: JJ may now modulate the frequency of his scream, allowing it to displace objects by vibrating them at the right frequency. This makes the power ideal for dismantling machinery, and can cause deep tissue damage to humans.
Level 4: At this level, JJ may widen the soundwave to a two meter spread, and can generate a pulse-variation in its frequency, allowing it to pass through some objects without causing damage while harming others. Alternatively, he may project it as a nearly-solid barrage of displaced air, which can seriously damage even hardy constructs.
Level 5: At this level, JJ may precisely target the shatterpoints of objects, allowing him to selectively damage different parts of a system without disrupting the rest of it. With enough effort he may generate powerful enough vibrations to cause local seismic activity.
>>
>>30574529
Nope.
>>
>>30574536
Bioweave coupled with light armor and healing 3 from the original powers would basically make us nigh on bullet proof without sacrificing anything.

if you're doubting that Dr. Green published anything about "genetic prophecy" himself, why not doubt everything he says?

Doubt that Dr. Green never worked for Weapon X -- he actually did!

Doub that Dr. Green was actually in it for saving people -- he was totally evil.

There are things to suspect are a product of his crazy mind. Him lying about what Dr. Green actually published in scientific journals is stretching it though.
>>
>>30574533
Fair enough.

In my head they clash for whatever reason.

Plus I'm not really interested in the whole dragon mode some of the guys here are bringing up.
>>
>>30574536
Sorry guy, but particulate form is much better than that.
>>
>>30574557
>>30574536
Are my vote
[MOBILITY]
PARTICULATE FORM
JJ gains the ability to transmute his body into a semi-coherent mass of disassociated particles.
Level 1: JJ may briefly ‘disperse’ for periods of seconds at a time, allowing him to prevent grievous impacts or make tight squeezes.
Level 2: JJ may keep himself in a dispersed but still roughly humanoid form for short periods – up to thirty seconds if he pushes at it. He is harmless in this state.
Level 3: JJ may now remain dispersed for a minutes at a time. He can direct his mass to move as a billowing stream or cloud, though he cannot rise particularly far off the ground.
Level 4: JJ may now move past enough in particular form to cause minor lacerations to those he passes by.
Level 5: JJ may remain in particulate form for extended periods. He can move fast enough in this shape to cause serious injury.
>>
I'd prefer healing 3 but if new powers only ...

subdermal armor (emulate sis AND not compromise stealth)
wings (Lil' JJ wanted to fly)
Photosynthetic bio (lower food bill)
>>
Particle form runs into the same problem as phasing. Short usage period.
Somewhat good for mobility, if we want to fake teleporting a few feet, but wings are more useful for longer (plus invisible sky-JJ).
>>
>>30574579
Particulate Form takes up the Mobility Slot. Sonic Scream takes up the Ranged Slot.
>>
>>30574536
>>30574557
>>30574583

ANIMAL AFFINITY
JJ develops the ability to communicate with and command fauna.
Level 1: JJ may understand the basic gist of what an animal is conveying. He may suggest actions but not compel them.
Level 2: JJ may entirely understand ‘animal-speak’. Smaller land bound animals almost automatically trust him and are more suggestible.
Level 3: JJ may sense nearby wildlife. Airborne animals and large land bound animals almost automatically trust him and are more suggestible. JJ may emit a loud noise that acts as a ‘beacon’ to chosen creatures.
Level 4: JJ may unleash a roar almost guaranteed to cow most animals, including humans. Insects now automatically trust him and are more suggestible.
Level 5: JJ may piggyback the senses of a chosen creature and compel it from a distance.
GENETIC MIMICRY
JJ may consume the genetic material of others to take on aspects of their appearance, and even mannerisms.
Level 1: After consuming a small amount of blood, saliva, or another genetic sample of a being, JJ may temporarily take on some of their minor aesthetic traits. He cannot become them, but he can take on their hair colour and type/ethnicity/eye colour/etc.
Level 2: JJ may now shift fully into an exact copy of a human being whose DNA he has recently sampled. This change only lasts for a matter of minutes.
Level 3: JJ may now maintain the change for an hour.
Level 4: JJ now only needs an at least somewhat extended amount of physical contact with a target to take on their shape. Additionally, he can access a few of their mannerisms.
Level 5: By consuming a significant portion of a person’s brain, JJ may permanently ‘store’ their genetic code and take their shape at any time.
>>
>>30574310
Tempting as the shiny new options are... we just exploded out of our own skin.
We need healing 3.

Although, question for later - what effect does regular enhanced agility have on flight speed with wings?
>>
>>30574568
Never said he didn't publish it. I never even said he didn't believe. What I did say, if you read what I actually wrote, is that how do we know 'Genetic Prophecy' meant whatever the fuck Typhon is doing, and was it intentional in us?

That is all I ever said.
>>
>>30574579
Yeah, particulate form is FULL immunity from damage temporarily, well, almost not temporarily at higher levels.
>>
>>30574617

>>
>>30574596
eventually ide go for:

subdermal weave
dragon breath
wings
photosynthesis

and have the last utility slot open until some more options pop up. The Green dragon will be.
>>
>>30574558

>>
>>30574627

>>
>>30574622

>>
>>30574617
>particulate form is FULL immunity from damage temporarily

You really think I'd ever give you that.

Just letting you guys know, there are plenty of things that can hurt you in Particulate Form. Heat, anything electrical, most superpower related stuff, etc. You also have the same weakness as Sandman essentially.

It's primarily a mobility power, not a defensive one.
>>
My vote for mobility is wings and dragon breath for ranged.
Everything else is just fine and dandy.

Guy can we make the wings appear?
Level 1: At this level, JJ may, at will, reshape his arms into a pair of leathery wings. He retains three of his digits, and though their dexterity is minimal, they keep any levels in Claws & Fangs active. He requires either a strong updraft or some height when taking off.
Level 2: At this level, JJ becomes capable of achieving flight without the need for a high start. His flight speed and aerial agility improves.
Level 3: At this level, JJ’s arms remain intact, and instead he may spontaneously grow a set of enormous wings from his back.
Level 4: JJ’s flight speed increases. His wings gain armoured joints, making them more difficult to disable. He becomes more dexterous in the air.
Level 5: JJ’s wings become more heavily armoured and gain serrated, grizzled edges, capable of slashing and tearing through tough materials.

eyes are stronger, and scream has more utility.
>>
>>30575327
There's still sunlight in NYC.

it's not LA or Beijing, guys
>>
>>30575327
If you can sit on top of a building and soak up sunlight, even if its through smog, easy food really. Besides, we could end up leaving the city if people come for us (ala x men etc)
>>
>>30575299
I think thats kind of obvious if you take the time to read it Anon.
>>
sometimes, i wonder.

i would've liked to at least hear what the demon's offered deal was before we rejected it.

would it have been possible to take its being entirely within ourselves instead of sharing him with the two kids?
>>
>>30575295
I'm guessing he didn't want to get stabbed yet because he needed to keep the charade up with the facility to get a few more muties to turn into supermuties!

Maybe there is something in JJ's code that allows him to switch back between 'forms'?
>>
>>30575278
It's full doppelganger on lvl 5.
I personally would never get it that far.

However, I love the idea of JJ basking in the sun whenever he's feeling peckish.
>>
>>30575360
>>30575350
at 1 it slows down hunger, at 2 it slows it down more,at 3 we can eat it or store it, but it takes too much time.
it is only at level 4 that it can stop it completely and be fast enough.

Dragon does not exclude stealth. Do it right, it works together beautifully.

As to my recs?
All ranged offenses cause stealth problems. Personally, my preference of the options presented is dragon breath, though admittedly an electrical breath attack may be more thematically appropriate. Optical force blasts take second place in my heart, much as I dislike Cyclops and any similarities to him. Because... come on, redirecting eyelasers.

Wings are preferable so we can take advantage of the immense airspace in NYC, and also because particulate seems similar enough to phasing that it seems... off to be able to use it while invisible. It just doesn't have the same boost as wings - aerial superiority is massive. Invisible aerial superiority is lethal.

Subdermal is the obvious choice because it's good defense without losing our stealth options. I think this, at least, we can all agree on.

The utility powers... none of them really jump out just yet. Photosynthesis is a definite maybe - because damn. Given our grab-bag powers, Marvel Lizard-Elf Superman. The cloud gen's a lot further behind, though I think it has serious potential later down the line.

But we still have time to go over the options and work it out. This isn't something to rush.

Also, regarding wings and subdermal armour - I take it wings count as soft tissue for the purposes of this power? If so, given the increased resilience in later wings levels, do the defenses stack or subsume?
>>
>>30575406
thats only when its 10 x-points in or 6 if we want to wait a few hours.
>>
well, page 10.

see you in chapter 2 guys.
>>
>>30575299
Appear and disappear, yes they're retractable.
>>
>OPTICAL FORCE BLASTS
JJ has developed the ability to project a beam of intense electromagnetic forces from his eyes!

>Level 3: At this level, JJ’s force beams can smash reinforced materials and cause significant damage to bones and deep tissue. The beam can be widened to a meter. If shot in standard or lower width, the beams may change direction at one point in their flight.

> the beams may change direction
>may change direction
>change direction

now add geointuitive vision and we never miss AND have beams that adjust

gentleman, I believe our ranged option is found
>>
>>30575463
or we can get lethal lasers.
>>
>>30575463
Sold!
>>
>>30575428
The wings would have a soft fleshy membrane since we are featherless, so yes, they would count as soft tissue. They are defiantly not designed to take much of a beating.
>>
>>30575428
I hate the idea of people choosing breath because its part of a theme, it urks me i rather they have a good arguable reason, like the other range powers have.

1 point and he mitigates effects of hunger.
If I didn't misunderstand that, that means he eats less when he basks in the sun.

>Level 4: At this level, JJ’s force beams may easily blast apart metallic constructs. They can be ‘reversed’ to draw objects towards JJ rather than pushing them away.

>GET OVER HERE!!!

Level 5: Fuck you move bitch. JJ’s force beams are now nearly unstoppable and can change direction twice in their flight.

> change direction twice in their flight.
> change direction twice
> change direction
> twice

I still think particulate form is better than wings, because it's like phasing but keeps to the aesthetic
>>
>>30575557
Wow, I have to give you phasebros credit. You're dedicated.
>>
>Optical force blasts
Please no NTR
>>
>>30575593
Actually, I was anti-phasefag at the start of this quest, I just think it would be better than dragonmode.
>>
>>30575523
From what i can understand of mitigate make less severe, serious, or painful, it could mean that we gain hunger slower in sunny days.
So its somewhat bad until level 3 where we can take an hour or two to take away hunger, but we don't know how much hunger, or store it away for later.
Its at level 4 and 5 where the power really shines.
4 letting us absorb sun quicker and used up solar energy to up a stat.
5 lets us be at level 3 energy at all times and makes us live with less water.
but the big problem is we have healing level 3.
>>
>>30575557
but it has at least half the failings of phasing, unless we can't invis while in particle form, in which case it has all the failings. Short time duration makes it kinda bad for mobility, and the fact that we're only dusty instead of intangible makes it WORSE than real phasing.
>>
Do you guys think we missed work?
>>
>>30575614
The way I understood it was that it basically means that on lvl 1 you can't process enough nutrition from sunlight in a day in order to live solely on it.
>>
>>30575651
maybe.
>>
>>30575671
the only problem i can see with Photosynthesis is that you have to sink quit a few points into it for to be of any use, since we gain hunger at a slow pace.
>>
>>30575651
How long do you think it takes to regroup eyeballs? I think we were unconscious a long time...
>>
>>30575463
I love it, but the shouts for eye-lasers and dragon breathe will drown us out anon.
>>
Rolled 14 + 1

>>30575463
YEAH
>>
>>30575728
vote for sonic scream, its like your power, but more versatile.
>>
>>30575755
Sonic Scream sounds good for me.
>>
>>30575707
it was by accident confirmed by crusty that we took around a day.
>>
Anyone mind updating the Archive.
>>
Rolled 4 + 1

>>30575755
Or we could have trickshot push/pull laser beams that can fuck over nearly any defence
Bonus points if it reflects off of walls at certain angles.
>>
>>30575495
...that IS a good arguable reason. It makes more sense that JJ would develop it than the others - from a literary point of view, it's the best fit for the character.
But that's not why it's my preference. It's an intense highly adaptable attack that grants the best AoE, range differential and trajectory adjustment of the options presented. It also has more immediate potential non-combat utility than the others.

But... again, we should probably put this off until it actually comes time to start purchases. Onto other, more important matters - such as... uh... surviving the next thread without accidentally squishing everyone we love. That's gonna be a biggie.
>>
>>30575805
its fine, its all pondering future powers at the end

and there's always foolz
>>
I just thought of something. With the optical force blasts and particulate form, we can fly.
>>
>>30575866
or just get wings
>>
>>30575878
But this leaves more options.
>>
>>30575817
how is dragon breath literary point of view make more sense then the other powers exactly?
Sonic scream is highly adaptible attack that grants better AOE then fire breath, but at the same time having better range.(both are beaten in range by the eye powers)
they all have non-combat utility.
>>
>>30575897
spending points on two powers when one power will do the job on its own is silly.

particulate form is in the minority
>>
>>30575903
Sonic Scream: Nondifferiating AoE stun with targetable knockback attacks.
Dragon Breath: Lethal cone AoE attack with area denial. Weak targetable stun with lvl 1 style fire.

I like Sonic Scream better, but Draconic Breath is not without it's uses.
>>
>>30576032
At level 3 or 4 we can target it.
>>
>>30576032
At level 2 draconic breath gets long range fireballs
>>
>Sonic Scream
>Subdermal armor
>Wings
>Photosynthesic Biology
>Animal Affinity
This is what I'd go for personally.
>>
Okay, I'm up and tea'd out of my head.

SOON.
>>
>>30576136
Oh, right, forgot about that. Thanks for pointing that out.
Additional point on Dragon Breath's favour.

Still, It's Sonic or Dragon for me, it doesn't matter which one we'd get, I'm supporting them both wholeheartedly.
>>

>>
>>30576264

New thread.
>>
>>30575903
On the first - we've spent the quest so far as a super-adaptive pointy-eared lizardy humanoid. Stealth abilities do fit certain interperetations of various draconic mythology. Combine that with /tg/s own tendecy towards highly territorial behaviour, our aquisition of an elemental ability (electricity), enhanced strength, speed and recovery rate, the claws, freaking gecko hands, hyperenhanced senses, our uncontrolled 'rampage' ability of the warp spasms, huge chunks of the extrapolative mutations (MORE additional sensory abilities - including insight into the workings of the human mind - horns, prehensile tongue, tail, hypercognitive enhancements, further electrical adaptations), and now the subdermal armour, along with the likely addition of wings... that's a lot of points to jam into a big column liberally entitled 'here be dragons.'

Yes, the scream has a larger area of effect, but it's also significantly less powerful, much less precise until later on in development, and suffers more degradation through passage than any of the ranged powers, which in turn means a lesser effective range later on, which offsets the saving grace granted by the increased precision.

...also, I apologise if I seem overly vehement in my points, or if my tone is a little snippy in places. I've been awake a little over 42 hours at this point. Coffee has its limits.
