You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

Today’s the day.

You, Kitten, and your staff woke early to get to the Tankery HQ and to get everything prepared. Ramirez was handling loading of the ammunition, Lisa was counting off expenses and the rules, and Nancy was busy making sure all the guns were sighted properly. You and Kitten helped where you could, and by 5:30 in the morning, the tanks were lined up and ready for the match.

Just recently, the five of you freshened up in the showers, washing and scrubbing with the upmost care. Even Kitten was using soap and shampoo for a change.

And right now, all of you were busy getting dressed in the locker room.

Well, except for yourself. You simply stand there in the nude, looking at the folded up uniform in your hands. Your left hand is twitching a bit. Stop that, hand. You look over at Nancy, Ramirez, and Lisa, who all look back at you concernedly.

“Go on ahead of me, girls,” you say. “Me and Kitten will catch up.” Nancy nods, and leads your staff out of the locker room. “Kitten, mind dressing me?”

Kitten finishes dressing herself in the Tankery Uniform and pulling the black thigh-highs up her legs. She nods and takes your uniform out of your hands then places it down on the bench. She starts getting your underwear on.

You sigh. “Today’s the day.”

“Yep,” says Kitten as she clips your bra together. “Going to say something dramatic?”

You shrug, letting Kitten pull your panties up. “Oh, nah. Wouldn’t know where to start, first of all. Secondly, can’t really come up with anything really dramatic sounding.”

She pulls the miniskirt up your legs and then zips it tight around your hips. “That so? I would’ve imagined you having something to say for every kind of moment.”

“Yeah, this ain’t one of them,” you say. You hold your arms up as Kitten throws the khaki undershirt over you. The uniform also came with a khaki blouse to come with it, and she starts buttoning it up for you. “Kitten, I had the craziest dream last night.”

“Did you?”

You nod. “Yeah, can’t remember it though. Definitely ended with you dying.”

She smirks, slipping your arms into the jacket. “Oh. Is that so? Was it some horrible death?”

“No, but it was very frightening,” you say. She stands behind you, and then starts buttoning up your jacket, her arms around you.

Kitten asks you, “Can I tell you something, Trudy?”

You nod. “Sure, Kitten.”

Kitten walks around then stands in front of you, straightening out your collar. “Remember when we first met?”

“When I-“

“Besides when you stole my lunch money.”

You nod. “Well, besides that, of course I remember.” You smile, chuckling a little under your breath. “It was around Spring, 3rd Grade at Beech Tree Elementary. We were on the playground and I was busy beating some punk up for his candy bar.”

Kitten smiles. “And you remember what happened when I stood between him and you?”

“I started laughing, calling you a total wuss, and then you started crying.”

“And then,” Kitten grins, shaking with inner laughter. “I punched you.”

“Broke my nose,” you say. “Cried like a little baby that day.”

Kitten quietly laughs, adjusting every fold of your jacket. “Yep. Your dad was pretty mad at you, my parents were pretty mad at me. But, you remember that conversation we had outside the Principal’s office while we were talking, right?”

You say, “Of course. Started talking shit about how it was bullshit that you got in trouble for defending yourself and another student. I think when Dad and your parents walked out and I said, ‘It’s not fair, daddy! Why does she get suspended too?’ was when they thought it was a good idea for us to have a little playdate.”

“Yep,” said Kitten. “We’ve been friends ever since.”

“Parents are good like that,” you say. “So what are you getting at, Kitten?”

Kitten gently grips your collar, then smiles warmly at you. “I’m just lightening your mood. Don’t want you in bad shape for the match today. You feeling nervous?”

You shrug, smiling smugly. “I do it better than guys, that’s for sure.”

They both of you giggle, then head out of the lockerroom. You walk on over to the Warehouse where all your tanks are being held. You check the time. 6:00 O’Clock. Your teams will be here in a couple of minutes and-

What’s that smell.

You rush on over to the table where Nancy in her Christian goodness has laid out a huge buffet of breakfast goods, including pancakes. You quickly take up a huge plate. Maybe eating will get this pit out of your stomach.

> Check on your tanks

As your crews start arriving, you walk up and down the line of tanks to be used during the tournament. All of your tanks are clean, the suspensions are tuned up, the engines are running properly, and nothing is out of order.

You pat the side of your tank, Cupid the M4A1E8 (or M4A1(76)W HVSS, but M4A1E8 is easier to say). You briefly wonder what this tank has been through.

Regardless, your other tanks look positively ready for the fight. All your crews have arrived and are busy chattering, making some final adjustments to their tanks, or just eating breakfast. You walk back around the line, but then stop and see Nancy, knelt over, hands clasped together, her eyes closed and her lips silently moving.

She’s praying.

You quietly kneel beside her and clasp your hands together like she does. She briefly opens her eyes to look at you, then smiles and continues quietly praying. You bow your head and close your eyes.

Now that you think about it, how does actually pray? You can’t remember the last time you’ve been to a Church, except maybe your mom’s funeral. But that was ages ago. You gently sigh, and then think. What do you want most?

To win? Nah, too prideful.

Victory? Eh…

Happiness. That’ll work. You think on it as you kneel down beside your tank, praying.

Meanwhile, Lisa has begun roll call. “Alright. Roll call everyone. First off, Freshmen, Team Not-A-Chance-In-Hell.”

The Freshmen raise their hands, “Here!” They shout altogether. Tara says, “Hold on, is that really our-“

“Next up. Team Needlepoint.”

The Sewing Club raise their hands. “We’ll do our very best!” shouts Mamie.

“Team Wojtek.”

The Poles scream, “Let’s do this!”

“Thank you for your enthusiasm. Team Bearcat.”

Marina pumps her fist as the rest of the Aviation kids raise their hands. “We’re ready!”

“Team Minie.”

The three of them shout, “Glory to Lafayette!”

“Team Last-Chancers.”

Lansky looks over at Luciano and asks, “The fuck kind of name is that?” Luciano shrugs, tongue in cheek try not to look like she was the one who suggested it.

“Team Liberty.”

The Naval Studies Kids shout, “Accounted for and ready!”

“Team Clio.”

Keegan grins. “Ready to write some history!”

“Last but not least, Team Tigris.”

The Aces all nod. Kate says, “Ready to give them the business.”

Lisa nods, checking them all off on her clipboard. “Good, good.” She looks over at you and Nancy as you walk over, finished from your prayer. “Boss, got anything to say to the troops?”

All the crews gather together, wanting to hear you speak. You look at them all, how unique each and every one of them is.

“Girls. Obviously, today is our first match in the World Tournament. We’re representing not just Lafayette Girls Academy, but the United States of America as well. When I first started the Tankery Team way back in August, all we had were a bunch of junkers, some very eager freshmen, and the clothes on our backs. Look at us now.”

You look at the Freshmen. “Whether you’ve been with us since the start,” then over to the Aces and Team Clio, “or if you’re joining us now, I won’t discriminate. I’m proud of all of you. Of what we’re going to do today. William Adams has nothing on us! We’re going to go out there and show them what real women can do!”

umm, no.

The reason we started tankery is because it was to save the school. Not sure if Trude will want to deal with it if her reason (while it is fun) fails, especially if all the other teams figure that out, she might be shunned in a worst case scenario.

It's kinda funny how our line-up can implement elements of each school's doctrine because everyone is pretty much represented.

Our crew can learn stuff from Heinlein and Saunders.
Freshmen could use some background on Glorianna's use of their Churchill.
Delinquents might be able to utilize Black Forest's use of the Panther, if their heavies weren't in the limelight so much.

> Take a Team Commander (Kate Knispel – Team Tigris)

The three of you are transported to the viewing area via M20 Armored Car. The ride’s a bit rough, but you tough it out. Kate and Nancy meanwhile look incredibly out of their element.

Kate says, “You know. It’s been a while since I’ve been to something like this.”

You ask. “How do you feel?”

“Like I’m going to toss those pancakes,” she says back. She looks at Nancy, “No offense.”

Nancy smiles. “None taken!”

Finally, the ride is over, and you all step out. You see all kinds of people moving towards the bleachers. You even spot, Ace, Eugune, and Audie in the stands, they wave at you and wave back. Finally, the three of you step out in front of the former Railway gun platform Leopold, now a giant television screen.

The three girls in front of you are Victoria, Anne, and Mary.

The three judges stand in between you. The same judges from your last match in fact.

“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! We are today’s judges!”

“Remi Takashima!”

“Hibiki Inatomi!”

“And Kanon Sasogawa!”

You nod back, smiling. “You too.” You break off the handshake and step back with your respective crews. Anne and Mary take the chance to give you sidelong smirks. You smirk back at them in response.

Kanon Sasogawa says, “With no ill will between you two, let us say: Panzer Vor!” All six of you bow to each other, then turn around to be transported to your staging areas.

You’re very quickly transported to the staging area by the M20 Armored Car. You, Kate, and Nancy step off once you’re there.

Kate says to you, “Hey, Gertrude. If we don’t win this-“

You shush her. “Don’t start, Kate. If you think about losing, you’ll lose.”

Kate hesitates, then sighs, smiling. “Figures.” She pats you on the arm gently, then walks back to her crew.

You and Nancy return to Cupid, where your crew sit atop it waiting for the match to start. It begins in a few minutes.

All of you stand atop Cupid, looking out into the distance.

“So this is it,” says Lisa.

You nod. “Yep.”

Kitten says, “For what it’s worth. I think we’ll win.”

Nancy nods. “It’s in God’s hands from here.”

You shrug. “I’d prefer it to be in mine.” Nancy giggles a little at that.

Ramirez says, “You know. My mom used to read me these really old stories when I was a kid.” You all look over at Ramirez, surprised she’s actually saying things of her own accord. “I don’t remember the exact context of this particular quote, but my mom attributed to some guy, George Eliot or something.

“A human life I think should be well rooted in some spot of a native land, where it may get the love of tender kinship for the face of the earth, for the labors men go forth to, for the sounds and accents that haunt it, for whatever will give that early home a familiar unmistaken able difference amidst the future widening of knowledge. The best introduction to astronomy is to think of the nightly heavens as a little lot of stars belonging to one’s own homestead.”

You all look at her, dumbstruck. You blink. “Ramirez, that was beautiful.”

Ramirez shrugs. “Eh, I saw it in a movie too. I just thought it’d be relevant.”

“To an extent,” says Lisa. “It is.”

You nod as Nancy hands you an M1 Helmet, a white fleur-de-lis painted on the side and with goggles wrapped around it. You smile and say, “It is.”

The flare shoots out.

You all take your positions. “Move out!”

> Proceed as Planned

You feel the wind rush through your hair as your tank rushes out of the little fields and onto the road. You’re advancing in a single file, with the ordering being: Al, Chuck, the Panzer IV, Szarik, Cupid, Ross, Popeye, the 120mm Chi-Ha, Xenophon, and then Earl. Reasonable enough. The engines rage as your crews put them to full speed.

You need to get to that bridge.

You say over the radio, “Fast as you can, everyone!” You take a whiff of the burning gas and oil. Best sniff of the day. Smells like victory.

You see Luciano turn out of the Panther’s commander’s hatch up ahead and look out. She says over her radio, “Hey, Pool. I see the bridge. Should we cross?”

You think. The cruisers should’ve arrived here faster than you. Where are they?

Then the ground explodes near Al. Luciano retreats inside and peels off the road to the right, as do the rest of the tanks ahead of you. You pull Grandpa’s binoculars and check the situation.

It’s the Challenger, bearing a small Welsh dragon on the side of the turret.

> MARK VIII CHALLENGER “CARDIFF” (ELITE) HAS ACTIVATED “LOCKDOWN!”

Your tank peels right off the road, but you’re able to catch a fleeting glimpse of the Comet, their flag tank just down the road past the bridge poking out from the corner of a couple of buildings.

Marina shouts, “I can see their flag tank! Let’s hit them!” Chuck immediately pulls back onto the road and starts speeding.

“Stand fast, Marina! You’re going to get nailed by that Challenger!”

The Challenger fires again, pinging the shot off through the turret ring of Chuck the KV-85. It peels off again off the road.

“Fuck!” shouts Marina. “Our turret’s jammed!”

The Challenger fires again, blasting the road. The rest of your tanks move into the cover of shrubs and hedges. The Challenger again fires, knocking any sense of getting out there out of your mind.

From the research :
* William Adams use map control

Stopping us from crossing the bridge while searching for a way to ford the river is something I would expect them to do. And we should assume that there is at least one more tank hiding around.

“Ramirez, load Smoke Round, once it’s shot load AP.” Ramirez picks up the smoke round from the ready rack then rams it into the breech. “Lisa, take us up the street a bit, and Nancy I want that smoke on the bridge. Sound good?”

Nancy nods, settling into the gunsights. “Yep!”

As Cupid rolls onto the street, you announce over the radio, “Here’s what’s going to happen. We’re going to fire smoke on the bridge. Cathy, I want you to lead the charge, Luciano will come second, us third. Marina, take this time to repair your turret. Everyone else stay behind us.”

Nancy fires the smoke round onto the bridge. The smoke starts blowing into the wind and begins shrouding yours and the flag tanks positions. Once it’s properly dispersed, Earl moves forward over the bridge, then Al, then yourself.

Once you’re past the smoke, you turn out and scan the environment. High buildings, no flag tank in sight.

It might provide the Aces an opportunity to flank them when they try to counterattack, or at worst provide us an avenue for escape when the town begins to get overrun.

You return to surveying around in the Periscope. The castle unfortunately breaks sight to the north and to the south are high buildings. Visibility is restricted to streets only here in Saint-Sauveur. You sigh, that’s going to be fun.

That does tell you something though, they’re probably trying to ambush you. But from what direction?

Earl receives a hit to the side, and then receives two more hits to the turret in quick succession, the gun mantlet to be precise.

“We’re hit!”

> MOBILITY KILL: CHURCHILL IV “EARL” (COMP. SPEC.)
> WEAPONRY KILL: CHURCHILL IV “EARL (COMP. SPEC.)

“Fuck!” shouts Tabitha. “We’re jammed here! We can’t move!”

Ashleigh coughs. “Fucking speak for yourself! The breech is jammed too!”

Okay, those shots came from two different directions. One from the north and others from further down the road. You turn out and look past the Churchill. It’s another a Challenger with a Maple Leaf on the turret, and the Comet tank.

This is probably some kind of all out attack. They must be getting desperate. You’ve already taken down three tanks, so that’s pretty much a whole pack. But Gwynedd’s not going to be charging down by herself, she’s going to have friends.

“Kate, stay here. Keegan, Dales, watch the mainroad, we’ll swing around to the North.”

Dales says, “Roger!”

You back up and down into the little depression, breaking a low stone wall in the process. The tank rumbles as it moves onto softer ground. Lisa orients the tank around and moves towards the Northern road where you do indeed find the Challenger running at you like a bat out of hell. Behind it are two more Cromwells and another Challenger.

The Challenger Cardiff however stays it’s barrel. What is it… Wait-

The StuG and Sentinel can try to repair in the meantime.

Two of the tanks are immobilized. Nishizumi run is based on the idea that we escape an enemy formation by charging through them. If we do this then we're abandoning the Stug and Sentinel.

>>29931831
But how does that create any kind of breathing room to repair tracks? The tanks are all right next to each other.

>>
>>29931853
because they are focused on us, and not the immobilised tanks, we distract them, create some chaos and havoc maybe do some damage, take out a tank if we're lucky, but the tanks they are charging don't get taken out

I can't provide a visual aid right this moment, but I can describe it.

You're in the South at that little road along with Team Tigris.

Team Bearcat is covering the bridge.

In front of all three of you are the wrecks of most of your tanks, including a Cromwell. To the North is Challenger "Hong Kong". In the middle of all the wrecks is Cromwell "Wellington"

Charging down the main road to the bridge is Comet I "Belfast" the flag tank, and Cromwell VII "Dover" their command tank. Cromwell "Aberdeen is somewhere else but is probably supporting the advance behind Dover and Belfast.

You and team Tigris make your way down the road that runs parallel to the Main road, hook around behind the two tanks coming down the main road by busting through a building or some shit.
That would be fucking baller
>>
we need to block that Challenger from getting a shot into us or the Aces, so we can hit the flag tank
>>
>>29932166
the KV-85 won't be able to hold let alone block the bridge by itself, its 4 lanes wide and its only 1 tank, they get across the bridge we lose

We won, at this point that is all that matters.

The Aces also had a cause to fight for too, since they knew the stakes. That said, now that we have a taste of a 'real' battle under our belt. We can do some friendlies with other schools. Once the rest of them are more competent, that might be the time to tell them that we are fighting for more than just pride.
>>
>>29933298

All the more reason we should get more experience at this.
>>
>>29933326
Of course, but Like on monday, after shore leave.

Tommorow we should cool down, like go to the french musuem or see Walter Christie chop shop

> “What are you guys going to do now?”

You stand up and offer your hand. “Good game, Victoria.”

Victoria smiles warmly, shaking it vigorously. “Gotta hand it to you. Gave us quite a few surprises in that match.”

You nod, then look over at Murphy. Murphy offers her hand, brokenly smiling as well. Poor thing. You shake her hand, smiling. You also offer your hand to Mary.

“Aw, c’mere you little bogey.” Mary bearhugs you, lifting you into the air. She puts you down, letting your lungs breathe again. “Right, was a helluva play ye pulled out there you did.”

You shrug. “Oh, wasn’t just me. So what are you guys going to do now?”

Victoria says, “Return to the Academyship. Practice some more for the next couple of tournaments.”

Anne nods. “Yep. I hear next year Sidney Horstmann is going to try and go into classic, we oughta give those little sods a warm welcome, yeah?”

Victoria nods. “Aye.” A William Adams student hands Stuart her set of bagpipes. “Anyway,” says Victoria. “Off into the proverbial sunset we go. You have my number, Gertrude. Feel free to call anytime.”

You nod. “Of course.”

The four of them walk away to Victoria’s Cromwell VII. “Best of luck to ye,” says Mary. The four of them sit atop the turret, then they drive off for their Academyship, Mary playing “Over the Hills and Far Away” on her pipes.

Give 'em that well deserved hug.

Later we can prepare a worthy sacrifice to the tank gods.
That is to say, buy a model kit of a Challenger, Comet, or Cromwell, assemble it, then put it on display as remembrance for this victory to please the Tank Fairy.

“Kate, Wendy, girls.” You walk over to the Aces, lying back and resting in the shade of the Panzer IV Ausf. F2. “You really saved our asses out there.”

Kate says, “Hey, we know the stakes. Sometimes we have to do stupid shit.” She stands up, smiling. “But hey, it was a real hell of a thing though.” She looks back at the Panzer IV. “And this thing carried us all the way through it.”

You nod. “Well hey, tomorrow your King Tiger arrives. This is just temporary.”

Wendy sighs. “Much as I loathe the King Tiger, I suppose it’s an upgrade. I will miss the Panzer IV though. He’s really done a lot for us today.”

Michelle nods. “He deserves better.”

“Anyway, girls. Really. Thank you.” You hug Kate tightly. “Thank you so much.”

Kate hugs you back. “Of course, no need to thank us.”

“… do people really-“

“Anyway, we’re all so proud of you. Dad’s just run out of the house screaming that you won to the neighbors, embarrassing I know but understandable.”

“Of course, typical Dad.”

“Yeah. Anyway, congrats on your first victory! We’ll stay in touch, okay?”

“Yeah, Griselda. Love you.”

“YOU WON! YOU WON!”

“Dad, I was there.”

“WHOOWHOO! THE TRAIN HAS LEFT THE STATION! THERE ARE NO BRAKES! WATCH OUT MISTER AND MISSES JONAS!”

“Dad, you don’t need to-“

“Hold on, I’m making a quick stop at that asshole who lives down the street. HEY ASSHOLE! MY DAUGHTER’S BETTER THAN YOUR DAUGHTER!”

“… thanks Dad.”

“Ahahaa! You won! I’m so excited! Strange really, I don’t really get excited for stuff like this. But anyway, really, Gertrude. You won, and Kitten too. Tell Kitten I’m proud of her, I’m sure her parents are showering her with joy.”

You look over to see Kitten on her cellphone, she simply stands there, embarrassingly. You can hear her parents cheering.

“HOLD ON!” shouts your dad. “I SEE MISTER AND MISSES SMITH DOWN THE STREET! HEY! OUR DAUGHTERS WON!”

“Well, Dad, nice talking to you!”

“Love you!”

“So, girls. How was it?”

Dales says, “Well, it kinda sucked that we got knocked out, but hey we took someone with us! That’s what’s important.”

You nod. “Yep. Sorry about that.”

“Ah, it’s fine,” says Dales. “We won anyway, didn’t we?”

“Well, it was quite a close call. But hey, think of it this way, now you know why you shouldn’t just run off without my go, okay?”

Dales chuckles nervously. “Yeah, sorry about that. Got a bit too excited.”

“You did admirably though,” you say. “I’m proud of you, keep up the good work.”

“Will do!” says Dales.

Nancy walks over to you. “President. I think it’s time we head back to Lafayette Girls Academy.”

You nod. “Alright, let’s saddle up, girls!”

The ITL has kindly loaned you a couple of trucks for you to return home on while your tanks are being repaired, free of cost. You sit, leaning back. Kitten leans on your shoulder, having fallen asleep. That Panzer High must have taken a lot out of her.

You smile. But you won today.

>> Next thread in about five or so minutes.

Thread up.
