Month 49

Last time in Mutant Hivemind our forces attacked the strange mutant. We lost half our forces while the other half got away expect for a hero by the name of Ravoanna a former bandit pilot who was absorbed into the Hivemind a long time ago. Who with her Forbidden Bandit solo held of the enemy and served as a living reaper amongst their forces she slaughtered so many. Eventually she was however overwhelmed but not before activating her backup plan. The resulting nuke lured new hordes of ghouls upon the now vulnerable base. After that however a meeting was done between our forces where we were given some dire warnings of which we still do not know the true meaning too...

Meanwhile the hero Markus has completely left the Hivemind and took his mobile base with him. With that occurring, the death of many including a hero, and questions having been raised since the discussion loyalties came into question. Along with the wretched awareness that there was something wrong with the Hivemind...

Interrogation wise.

Prophet doesn't seem to know anything. As he spends his time making sure the Overmind works smoothly. The only thing we found in his memories that he didn't share was his wasteland journey. Which was mostly emptiness with the spice of terror.

Richard says this entire swamp was once upon a time full of many research faclities and corrposponding military bases for protection. City nearby was used to draw materials including test subjects. He doesn't know why it got so completely flooded or overgrown however. But suspects it may have something to do with the projects undertaken there. As for what he thinks of the Overmind Richard points out that everything has a price to pay. Plus an equal and opposite reactions so he asks what is the TRUE price of the hivemind and the corresponding cost?

Warlord duel Fists mind is...surprisingly empty for the most part. The only thing that really causes in action in there is the prospect of fighting or getting ready to fight. He is however amazingly clever when it comes to either of those pursuits it just that anything else...

Alexis states that there were unusual creatures underground that moved with sereneness similar to the Memor as if they were scouting it out...other than that however she doesn't know anything. Swamp wise she suspects that are many mutant types here and the swamps ecosystem is entirely vicious not to mention happily mutative.

Clora'Zel on the other hand...we discovered wouldn't allow us access until Alexis came to speak with her. After that it was revealed that she had secretly been in cahoots with the other broodmother for a very VERY long time. In fact if we hadn't released her when we did it would have only of been in a few years times when she would of been busted out of there. Richard was right about the suspected tunneling around. The other Broodmothers' forces were only a year or two away until Markus' Special GIGGA base rose up. Causing the tunnel to flood and collapse in places. So they had to reroute which bought us a few years otherwise they would have already of compromised the facility. The fleshbeasts that escaped the tunnel to help us fight off the bandits due to them wanting to protect Clora'Zel. The hivemind made the mistaken assumption that it was Clora'Zel forces. It wasn't. Now however now that the bandits are taken care of their making a come back for her.

Scouting wise tunnel scouts didn't find much more then usual...until Alexis came down anyway. She found some carefully hidden burrows/nests and even some tunnels. Which is where she found some far out scouts for an unknown force.

Scouts didn't find much in the outer facilities. They were either abononded or heavily overgrown. Usually both. Hell some of them were outright flooded or even sunken.

Warlord Duel Fist went out to find the new ghoul hero. He sorta got lost…despite the swamp being homeground and everything. It might be a while.

Alexis went hunting again acquired yet MORE samples for poor Richard. Who at this point really needs to know what to focus on considering all the discoveries that have been made but never bothered with.

Clora’Zel is indeed still on your side. As for her planning to overthrow you she thought about it…twice. Aid wise was considered during the second time. Plans for other broodmother were to team up. At least they used to be anyway as for the other broodmother joining you not going to happen. She is far too old, powerful, and mature to even consider such a thing. Not to mention she olds quite the grudge against the Memor for stealing her offspring from her as she views it. Cause as it turns out Clora’Zel is her daughter.

Researching of samples of tunnel samples has led to 3 discoveries.

1 Monsters are down there.

2 Old experiments lurk down there.

3 Heavily advanced fleshbeasts are prodding around down there.

Definitly, we need to get our hands on some wranglers.
Other than that if the Spiderborgs come into fruition I have a longterm plan for them.

They web the forrest. Capture prey, choke the movement of monster and ghoul and invader alike. Wrap them in cocoons.

The cocoons with their living prey are dragged back home. The cocoons are injected with serum, while the Broodmother sings them her song until they open to the mind and then we release them. Those that don't we use for resarch. Maybe we might even ensare giant monsters. The spiders could build nests inside them and multiply. Or have an ST drag it back to base for research or tribute to friendly ghoul mercs.

For a specific secondary research, what of a proposal of a natural substitute for Markus? Use the broodmother to generate a new class of mutant, a smart class. A brain mutant. Capable of advanced mathematics, storing and processing tons of info, making precise calculations and simulations in the mind.

It won't be as good as Marcus persay, but he was once a Memor too, but we can't let our technology stagnate.

Scouts sent to check out the ghoul movement got wiped out the man...we also have a feral ghoul horde headed our way.

Meanwhile the labs had to be quartined as the precedures down to allow the experimental creatures to reproduce worked a wee bit too well. Last we heard Richard screaming about 'containment protocol this' and 'worked too well that'. At the moment a system purge is underway. Our labs and facility are also a bit damaged thanks to this. But luckily everything was built to contain this sort of thing.

As for Alexis...she disappeared user. One moment she was in the Hivemind then she wasn't. When our forces went to her last known location they only found a bloodbath with her remains no where to be found.

You are Torg. You fucking LOVE explosions. Right now you are commanding the siege weaponry thanks to that idiot Olaf sucking at his job. Torg didn't considered our ammo EXPLOSIVE enough so he figured out a all new types of guns that shoot BULLETS that EXPLODE. Not to mention he created an artillery piece that he refers to as SWORDS AND DINOSAURS ARE AWESOME. What actually turned out to be Giggles who he though wasn't EXPLOSIVE enough so he made him so. Then he ran away...instead of getting depressed Torg went out and literally wrestled down a shark dinosaur monstrous hybrid thing...in the deep swamp. He then strapped freaking LASERS to its HEAD. Guess whose back? ITS GlowyJOE. As it turns out Warlord Duel Fist was REALLY fucking lost. As in somehow found himself in the Northern City lost. Apparently using the strange tunnels as a short cut was a bad idea. While there however he and GlowyJoe went on many an adventure together...if you can consider taking on hordes of zombies, Justice Warriors, and white knights not to mention an army of bandits an adventure.

First control group refused except for 5.

Second group...also refused except for 10 this time. Not without much head shaking or muttering however.

When they were released...they went back to their camp. That was when mutterings began occuring. At first it wasn't really anything going for...until the second group spoke up in particular a few more unusual bad-asses From both Glows Crew Raiders and the other odd mixture. Then they sent a force to talk with Richard. Richard is simply put MOST annoyed. After that the bandits departed back to their camps. Once they arrived however Torg shows up and shows to the bandits the true meaning of EXPLOSIONS because apparently no one else in the Hivemind understands but he heard good thing about the bandits understanding EXPLOSIONS. Here's what's going down/has gone down.

The swamp used to be a huge complex of interlinked research and development bases, with an emphasis on biotech (though they weren't all biotech) and supporting military bases.

There is at least one lab in the swamp that specialized in AI and robotics, it's commanded by an AI named EVE. EDE used to work closely with that lab, but is prevented from telling us much anything about it due to programming blocks (that EVE could remove).

The major biotech lab in the complex, at the center of what is now the "swamp" was particularly interested in mutation studies. As such at some point they created a brood mother (possibly the first ever), to facilitate their tampering with genetics/biology.

Shortly before the world went to shit (possibly because of this very complex), at least one (probably two) slivers of the brood mother that would become our swamp was shipped out of the central lab.

Now this brood mother ain't nothing to fuck with. The sliver broke out, and took over the lower labs of our facility. EDE tried, but failed to fully eradicate the outbreak due to its robots running out of fuel (indicating that the central brood-mother coordinated an attack).

I consider it possible/probable that the central broodmother [She Who Hungers] unleashed the (or 'a') zombie virus as part of her escape attempt. Evidenced by the fact that the Enclave of our world are interested in the mutants in the swamp.

So, through the years She Who Hungers encourages the growth of the swamp. She encourages massive mutations to the creatures of the swamp to make them nasty fucks, unleashes terribly plagues in the deepmarsh to kill off weaker creatures, encouraging nastier fucks.

Possibly due to old power plants in the facilities in the deepmarsh becoming unstable due to She Who Hungers' escape attempt, or possibly due to some mechanism She instigated the inner swamp became irradiated also.

Between the monsters, the zombies, and the radiation She Who Hungers is now safe. She begins to devote her time to wider ranging things, including psionic development.

We are the result of that line of development. We came from the caves of the swamp (sure didn't come from nowhere), where we had been slowly designed by She Who Hungers mechanisms.

We aren't the only product of her psionic aims though.

The Prophet of Fate is either another experiment by She Who Hungers, sent into this base to lead us to it so we could fulfill some goal that I've yet to identify...or a happy accident we happened to be drawn to who had happened to occupy this extremely advanced biotech base in the middle of an extremely hostile swamp, who has been nudged by Cloara'Zel's sister's psionics into not seeing things he would've otherwise noted.

Back to Cloara, I'm unsure of whether she's in on it. It's more than possible that she is (maybe even likely). It would certainly seem like it'd be easier for the Prophet of Fate to have aspects of the hivemind kept from his view if there were TWO (possibly 3, with She Who Hungers [though I'm not sure we're actually powerful enough to warrant her notice]) extremely potent psionic units actively working to deceive him. Of whom one is IN the hive mind.

On the other hand, I asked Cloara about things at the end of the last thread and her answers are what set me about on discovering all of this.

The answers also seemed competitive.

Let's see, what else did I discover?

The high-tech bandits are likely a faction of the Marauders, the faction that briefly stopped in our swamp very early in the Civ. The warlord that was with the bandit band in that instance mentioned something about parlaying with mutants then "why do you think we're losing?'

I theorize that the mutants they were fighting have conquered/allied them. Those mutants are the uber-specops soldiers who planted strange devices on our SSTs that disabled them when we attacked the fortified bandit position a thread or two ago. They have a hivemind, or at least psionic communication among themselves, with someone akin to the Prophet of Fate at their head.

It's possible their Prophet of Fate (named "Cortana") is the EVE AI mentioned earlier (or some as-yet unknown AI), as certain military based specialized in tech-psionic hybrid projects [evidenced by the tech-psionic shield on the bandit base that was our first major defeat in this Civ.].

They did mention they were dissastisfied with new leadership.
They sent us a substatnial bombing support too against the other bandits too. And certainly if they were working with, rather than against, these other marauders they'd opened up the combox when we started attacking.

The monsters of the swamp are under She Who Hungers control, and likely to an extent Cloara's sister's control (though I doubt she controls them as well as her mother). They are, after all, going to apeshit all over us in a turn or two. Right when she's coming with thousands of fleshbeasts/mutant Memor (and possibly turning Cloara's fleshbeasts on us).

Rather clever of She Who Hungers, actually. Populate her swamps with simple, brutishly powerful creatures who wouldn't be able to resist a psionic pull on their minds to attack what She needed.

While still defending Her. That way She could keep her psionic profile low, meaning that people like the psionic bandits accompanying the high tech bandits wouldn't find out about her easily.

The psionic/tech bandits do know about She Who Hungers though...I don't know how. They hate her and wish her destroyed. They saw Her/Her offspring's influence on us though, and accordingly rejected our offers of peace and assistance.

Why would they want to ally with us? The Dreamers were a small sect of the Marauders as a whole. It's very possible the rest of the Marauders despised us for whatever reasons.

There is a possibility I haven't talked about yet. That our allies/heroes/etc. all haven't told us about the influence from She Who Thirsts that they saw because they couldn't tell us without Her knowing, and if She knew their plans would be fucked.

Along that line, it's possible that Marcus left because he knew he couldn't pursue our survival while his knowledge was accessible by the hivemind.

By the by, it's likely that, as a creation/experiment of She Who Hungers, we have a killswitch or a virus tailored to kill us or what have you. And it's possible-to-likely that Cloara's sister has access to it.
