I have no fucking clue how we survive this.

We are fighting in our own base.
As they say "you shall sink in it".

We'll only have a chance if we can maintain structural integrity. There are no Marauder bombings that will help us. The Ghouls are away. All we can pray for is that our spider's will help pull us through.

I specifically was a proponent of their creation after the revelation of things in the tunnels being difficult.

Spiders excell in tunnel combat, and like all of richards creation, they grow on the cropses of enemies.

We need to come up with a plan to take advantage of this.

Oooh.

How about we flood the base with spiders, then withdraw all our forces to the outer perimeter?

By the way, She Who Hungers is worth her salt. We're not going to be only attacked from the inside. We'll likely get attacked from without first.

So maybe we more like put the spiders in secret areas with a release trigger ready to go when the fleshbeasts breakin.

Also, let's tell Clora to keep all her fleshbeasts inside the base for "protection reasons". Also, she can't know about the spiders and should be kept abreast of as little as possible about our military plans (why was she so reluctant to let us examine her psychically at the start of Part 1 anyway?). If she's stuck in there with her beasts and she's not a traitor, well those guys are as good at CQC as any strongarm. If she's stuck in there with her beasts and she IS a traitor (more likely) she gets eaten by spiders with the rest.

So let's put our stock into getting spiders ready, and let's get the Prophet of Fate prepared to do tremendous battle. He'll have to be able to break the two broodmothers' control on everything/combat their considerable psychic abilities without any other heroes to help.

Let's do it.

Then build 25 ST's. Of the kind meant to chew things up close in short order.

Also, we should not forget the surface defense.

I have a proposal. 2 Rings of defense, with exit strategies and scorched earth tactics to be used in case one line falls.

Next, two sepearate teams will leave the sides of our base, to facilitate an emergency flanking maneuver or detect any swamp creatures trying to make their own flank attacks. They can also provide artillery support.

She Who Hungers*

Don't even. It's based off the first thread, where the Prophet of Fate reached out his awareness, then touched on a massive one that was filled with only an all-consuming hunger. He barely managed to survive the contact, and it likely tipped She Who Hungers off to our existence in the first place.

You are Warlord Duel Fist. Today is the day you die. For some reason you can just know. Looking at the maps it was clear your forces were getting annihilated. Only thing that seemed to be holding them off was the automated defenses.

...EDE I gotta a favor to ask.

Yes Warlord?

When you see EVE apologize for me. She really wanted to see you by the way.

What?

Warlord Duel Fist raises his bionic arm. "How do you think I got this? Just do me one favor deploying ALL expendable forces with me and have your bots work with the automated defenses for maximum effect. Meanwhile have everyone else retreat to protect the civilians."

Done...however I cannot contact Richard so his borgs are unavailable. May I ask one thing however Warlord?

Make it quick.

How did you know EVE.

...Long ago I got lost found myself in strange place. In exchange for giving me my arm she wanted to get a hold of an old friend who she lost touch with. Problem was I didn't know where to find you. Then one day I encountered the Memor I later joined them because I respected power. Thing was however you here too...so I did my best to guide along to find your friend. Things didn't work out according to plan though cause I sorta didn't know where EVE is or how to get back. In any case I will take care of Richard. Goodbye EDE just know your friend is still around and wondering where your at."

With that General Duel Fist departed heading to the compromised labs on his way to the surface. There were literal tides of foes...this was when Duel Fist finally decided to use his second fist. As it slid and pieced itself down into a cannon. He started fighting his way through tides of enemies reinforced by EDE's security bots. While further away a second pincer advanced this one made up of Clora Fleshbeasts including herself despite being so wounded had injected some hydra.

Then however Warlord duel fist penetrated the Richards laboratory only to find himself now attacked by the leaper Spiders. He was surrounded by all sides but he fought on. With no armor and nothing but his bare hands. He was about to fall where he heard a strangely familiar string of profanity and strange words.

"I am gonna make you into my new mudpie for my granny but she hates BUGS." There was glowyJoe who somehow leaped onto Warlord Duel Fists back.

Its PARTY TIME, screamed GlowyJoe Duel Fist couldn't help but agree. As together with Joe's firing of many bullets and lobbing of much explosives from A Warlord's shoulders. With Duel Fist showing the enemy the art of the Single Iron Fist style. They quickly made progress. Only to find Richard having somehow Jury rigged a new monstrosity. His only words being MEAT MISTER AND MISSES SPIDERNAUGHT. Which quickly fell upon the enemy. With Richard screaming while riding the both of them

YOU THINK YOU FUCKERS CAN MESS WITH SCIENCE AND ME NOT KNOW ABOUT IT AHAHHAHH I HAVE KNOWN SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING.

After that Duel Fist fought his way to the surface with an army of borg, bot, and even fleshbeast at his back for some reason heading straight to the mobile factory. Through tides of monster, Advanced fleshbeast, and even feral ghoul. Once there Warlord Duel Finished had the factory leap up in mid air as he detonated the plasma veins all at once...which slaughtered everything on or near the ground. Then it ran down the tunnels frying everything lurking down there. With Warlord Duel Fist charging right behind it. Tunnel through tunnel he fought both him and GlowyJoe carrying a massive amounts of explosives on their back.

The tunnels allowed them to flank the enemy relieving our forces as the foes were caught between the two like a sandwich made of slaughter and yet more slaughter. All the while GlowyJoe throwing explosives around collapsing entire networks of tunnel despite how fortified they may have been. But deeper and deeper they fought the more enemies that came around them. Attacking from all six sides. By this time everyone but the Team up of GlowyJoe and Warlord Duel Fist have either fallen or stayed behind. But deeper they fought ever deeper. Through so many enemies tunnels literally were completely stuffed chalk full of them. The two of them actually had to start using explosives just to make room for them to advance. Finally however they reached a the central Nexus. What the two of didn't know is that by that time it had been entire months had passed. In only a matter of weeks they had completely taken out the tunnel networks anywhere NEAR the Northern swamp because Warlord Duel Fist Sense of direction was so fucking bad. They had found themselves at the heart of the very nexus itself despite the ludicrous amount of detours and decoys. There they found the heart of the beast so to speak and the lost hero Alexis who was a captive.

There in a massive cavern where all the tunnels eventually led both those new or ancient. Stood such a scientific monstrosity that even Richard would of of been jelly.

"I must say this sweet young thing could keep her mouth shut despite not knowing anything she kept quite for such a LONG time. Must say though its impressive the amount of havoc you caused its going to take me centuries to rebuild it all. Damn swamp ground makes everything just SOO slow going. Ah but before I forget you do know that if anything happens your friend dies too right?

...I am guessing you never heard of Giggles then.

Ah fuck so much for THAT idea I suppose. How depressing I had such a good speech too...

Ah well I suppose you DO know that your completely surrounded right. this time however your RIGHT under old mother! With the endless hordes that entails. I am afraid its your loss Duel Fist and ah Joe I think it was?

Its GLOWYJOE, corrected GlowyJoe who despite his constant barrage of bad speech and curses voice STILL wasn't hoarse.

ahh fine just fine, muttered the Creature.

I am gonna guess your Clora'Zel sister?

What oh god no I am Nex'Wor I am just in charge of the tunnels. You know attacking from below, breaking into secure facilities, and ruining stuff that sort of thing. Oh also-

Looks like its time for you to die, finished Duel Fist raising his second Fist.

Oh this is gonna be such fun!

that was when from everywhere came monsters pouring everywhere. Including Brood Guard and worse. Still wasn't enough to stop Warlord Duel Fist from fighting through them. Unfortunately for him however he was out of explosives same with GlowyJoe. So they wouldn't be able to collapse it or even blow a passage through as quickly became evident as the corpses began to pile up. It didn't stop them as it wasn't long before they they fought their way to the scientific monstrosity that would made Richard weep out of pure jealousy.

So I must ask how do you plan to bring this place down when your all out of explosives, asked the creature toying with both of them. As they both barely struggled to hang on.

How why with your corpse of course, stated Duel Fist.

Oh really now and how is that?

Because in the primary tunnels you act a speed way. Meaning you pick up all the debris and act a mass blindingly fast transport.

Oh very good figured out the worms were I too bad your all out of explosive!

Heh you do know not all the explosives detonated right, stated War Lord Duel Fist as he raised his bionic arm with his last shot from the cannon would hit the creature.

For the thing was Warlord Duel Fist single remaining shot was a trick shot. For you see a lot of the explosives were digestible and got stored IN the very body itself. Basically if you ate enough of it you literally became a walking time bomb. That shot was designed to activate said bomb. Considering how that creature basically ate everything in the tunnels...it itself was the bomb. And that wasn't even including the explosives it missed in the side passages. Basically it was the single largest living detonator and bomb to exist in the entire apocalypse. With that single shot it would begin to detonate and it too will detonate all those other explosives and anything else lurking down there. Or release it.

ITS BOOM BOOM TIME. Are the final words of GlowyJoe right before Warlord Duel Fist shot at the creature which missed.

HAHA- only to hit an appendage of it against a wall.

OH shit- were the final words of said creature. As it began to detonate with all those caches of explosives and worse.

That was when Warlord Duel Fist begun to look around. Enjoying the view of a literal river of gore, mountains of corpses, screaming monsters trying to escape desperately, a collapsing ceiling that would bury everything and for some reason GlowyJoe taking a shit in the Nex'wors exploding mouth. Warlord took out his cigar lit it with a spout of plasma from his bionic arm. Looking around he noticed everything was beginning to light up as the explosives began to really cook off properly including living explosive that is Nex'Wor.

The final words spoken by Warlord duel Fist after he took his first and last puff of his final cigar before everything lit up in a blinding flash light as everything went to hell around him without giving a single care in the world. At that moment he was at inner peace and blissful. Only when he looked around did he say those finals words of to the perfect timing of-

"it's boom time."

2/4/6) Nex-bastard said it would take centuries to repair the damage that Dualfists had done before he set off the most powerful explosive in our post-apocalyptic setting. I don't think undermining will be a problem, I also think that we took out at least a decent chunk of their forces (bloodied the nose anyway). Their tunnel network was also their primary means of transport, I'm extrapolating. It's entirely possible that due to generations of influence on monsters the advanced fleshbeasts can move about the deepswamp with impunity, and chose to use tunnels to conceal themselves...but I don't consider it likely.

3) You know, the spiders are cool and all...but I think we need to focus more on developing mutations and psionics. At least until we get access to some better facilities for development of technology. Technology is definitely our weak point, along with manufacturing. Mutants have a severe penalty to researching, and a moderate one to industrial production, but those two are the only things we ever want to do. We have a goddamn biotech facility of world-ending proportions but we want a Massive spidertank instead of a building-sized psionic-death-dealing mass of tentacles and eyeballs.

Really though, remember our last assault? Against the high tech bandits? They had a psionic among their number that held our Forbidden Bandit in place, and that guy wasn't necessarily even hooked into a hive mind. Imagine what our Prophet of Fate could do if we researched his Wasteland Psionic crystals and found some way to implant them into every Memor, then have them lend him psychic aid whenever needed. (Or whatever those crystals will end up doing) We could've frozen all of the attacking fleshbeasts in place, then killed them with a thought.

Our bonus to psionic research isn't even as good as our bonus to biological research though. Seriously, mobile-base sized monster. Think about it. Deepswamp has them. I'm sure.

Anyway, that's just smar/tg/uy's thoughts.

Son of a bitch. No richard to boot that was our only ticket to a quick built military while we build our forces.

>>
Rolled 75

>>27326470
Spiders are simply there to fill in the gaps and provide support. A boost to where the actually military should be (which is right now royally fucked). There' not the bulk, that should be us.

>magine what our Prophet of Fate could do if we researched his Wasteland Psionic crystals and found some way to implant them into every Memor
We were considering psionic mutations last thread, because right now we have to consider that the hivemind is psionically corrupted and we'll need to deal with that. The Mulim will be good for that though.

As for other mutations we were thinking of some kind of brain mutant, either good at actual math and calculations to substitute for Marcus loss.
>>
>>27326506
Don't forget their cyborg, part fleshbeast so it's possible we can mutate them with the Broodmothers powers. But we can forget all about them if we can't find Richard.
>>
OP are you still here I have one last question
>>
Rolled 84

>>27326506

I liked the idea of a brain mutant, but in this world biological options are just as viable as technological ones, and I can't conscience spending the huge expenditure of time that was required to develop the brain mutants.

Look at the force we just faced, we've not encountered anything yet that could've stood against them. We had to burn a fate point.

Yeah, there wasn't really a clear statement on whether or not how hivemind was corrupted. I do wonder what the "Penalties for even the best of things." are.
>>
>>27326549
still around but not for long getting quite sleepy.
>>
>>27326565
Okay. The Memor rules. How much do you expect are plausible to be thrown out. Are any of them still credible?
>>
>>27326573
1.) Broodmother can now convert humans to mutant and join hivemind with telepathic ease. Not garaunteed but just "encouraging". Addition of other efforts to win hearts and minds still recommended. Offspring of these normal converted concieve and grow up in the Memor manner and don't degenerate the genepool.
2. Artificial breeder feasble. Can be useful for generating soldiers in quick sucession, but these should not be allowed to breed or risk degredation of future generations.
3. Broodmother discovered in underground facility. Increases fertility rate of reproduction and intercourse in her broodnest vicinity. Releases juices especially useful for healing, but which cannot be stored and must be used in her vicinity as well.
4. Absolute control of base functions and robots by A.I. restored.
5. Hivemind membership is by consent and mutation, all entirely easy thanks to broodmother. Once joined of volition, loyalty is, in practice, assured. The hivemind does not allow for slavery
>>
>>27326591
Still seems perfectly good anon. At least that one anyway.
>>
>>27326591
-of it's members within the hivemind, nor crimes, and major actions within the hivemind are monitored and by consent of the hivemind masses.
6. Certain hero units have the strength and willpower to hide their thoughts from the hive-mind, even massive plots and secrets. This can lead to mistakes and unseen actions and conspiracies by the heroes, but the rest of the Memor masses do not and should not be feared of treason or action without hive-mind consent or supervision.
7. New strain of supervirus by Richard. One strain been deemed feasible for battle purposes. Other strain of contagion particularly deadly and left for "last resort/final solution" purposes.
8. The hivemind/overmind is capable of surviving without the presence of the Prophet of fate.
9. Radiation now heals. Don't ask how. It's mutation I ain't gotta explain.
10. Broodmother aura vicinity can make everything better, organics, machines and all.
11. Broodmother's subliminal "encouraging" can be used to increase convert turnout, however expect increased dissent among those with the experience or intelligence to detect it, and vice versa. The more experience the more likely they will pick up, while conversely the less experienced the less they will pick up. As such, populations used by the Broodmother (and any other psionic/subliminal/chemical) methods should be used on a group where they would not be likely to pick up, or dissent by the rejectors would not pose a serious issue.

What really concerns me the most is the loyalt of the Memor common man. Can his devotion really be corrupted? Or is it simply that he is tricked?
>>
Rolled 29

>>27326551

Jesus it's late at night, dat grammar.

Anyway, here's important issues I think we need to tend to ASAP.

A: Scout, and if they're still empty, occupy them. We'll have to be careful though, and if the Psytech Bandits come back...Well, we can't afford a two-front war. Maybe we'll be lucky and we can produce better biofuel than them and offer them some for a base. Might need to rebuild our troops a little bit before this is viable, no use taking something you can't hold...then again, maybe our reputation would help with that.

B: Get our base back into running condition. I think we should prioritize getting into new facilities over improving ours though. There's not a single other faction around confined to one base.

C: Investigate the creatures Alexis saw in the tunnels that "Moved in a fashion similar to the Memor." That's definitely a hint from OP.

D: Search for EVE. Robots/bionics, proper technological research/production facilities, and another AI that can delimit ours. That's an invaluable facility. It'd be really damn nice to now how this place went to shit and where the look for the central swamp-causing brood mother.

E: We should definitely scrape the battlefield for scraps of advanced fleshbeast and feed them to Clora. She's our only means of producing troops at a reasonable rate, and it'd be nice if those troops were upgraded.
>>
>>27326601
Crimes can occur just quite difficult to happen.

Devotion cannot be corrupted as its picked up on REALLY quickly. It possible just hellishly difficult to both corrupt and then keep it secret. It is however quite possible to be tricked.
>>
Rolled 14

>>27326601
We really need to start working on our recruitment efforts. Next time were researching that suggestion serum.
And reaching good candidates for recruitment. God knows we already found them but we're always too busy to get to them.
>>
>>27326625

Things are looking grim.
>>
Rolled 67

>>27326636
Which is why I was suggesting the brain mutant. Even if they're not the best engineer or scientist alone, there is strength in numbers. Like a cluster computer.
>>
I was thinking, if we're worried about future tunneling by the enemy we can mutate some kind of worm. These worms will burrow into the earth, spread, but in the presence of air they rapidly dissolve into a kind of acid and collapse enemy tunnels.

But then theres the issue of it they start to collapse our tunnels. If there were only a way to differentiate.

That or some kind of siesmic hammer to strike the ground
>>
Rolled 2

>>27326654
Maybe a mutant that specialises in burrowing and underground fighting?
>>
Rolled 67

>>27326654

I like the worm idea. We could develop them in tandem with a digger mutant and have the digger mutant secrete some substance or other that keeps the worms away from our tunnels.

On the other hand, we're dealing with a force of broodmothers here that are far older and more experienced than our one is. They could probably mimic any tunnel protection compound easily. It'd be hella effective against tech-enemies though.
>>
Rolled 72

It'd be really cool if we got some more bases. I think one of the reasons we face these do-or-die sort of situations so often is that we only have one base. All our eggs are in one basket, and it's one target for the enemy to throw all their forces at. They don't have to whittle down any defenses, take down any outlying bases, or anything, they just cruise right on up and we start fighting for our lives.

>>27330425
Well we sort of have the Tectus to where the buggers would reasonably fit (unless their steal/sensitive abilities are superior. But even then we can just further mutate the Tectus).

The Viroz could be useful if, when Richard comes back, we can further develope the battle virus strain (or worse if we are under a sickness of our own).

As always the Vizen would be enourmously useful for recruitment and likely conversion.

Glowing flower was indeed the healing radiation one.

We've had "Experimental Fluids" and "Finger Biter Fish" for years now. He threw those to us in the first thread, they might be important or they might bestow boons that wouldn't solve any of our current problems.

I think we ought to research the Waste Crystals, then Experimental Fluids, then Finger Biter Fish as soon as we can.

Buggers are not scouts. Not to mention all the older StrongArms are quite leery when it comes to their SUCKER ability. Apparently not fun to be on the receiving end of according to them.

Viroz basically living plague cauldrons. Supposedly.

After the explosion amongst the rebel rose up an surprisingly untoasty Warlord Duel Fist. As his eyes adjusted to the gloom however he realized he had a serious problem.

First of all around him stood an amazing variety of advanced flesh beast that would even make the Brood Guard piss themselves.

Second thing was there above and him all were tubes that poured forth more fleshbeast.'

Third he finally realized that what lied above the cavern was the Head Lair of She Who Hungers as the Memor claimed.

With a GlowyJoe at his back and both of them out of ammo. GlowyJoe said a most enlightening thing.

"So if more fleshbeasts keep on coming that means we never get to stop fighting yes?"

Warlord Duel Fist was stunned and could only nod his head in agreement. Looks like he will get to fight to the end after all and not have it all go boom. This made him happy as he was always one for fighting. Both him and GlowyJoe prepared for the best and final fight. As the ground rumbled around them and the fleshbeasts woke up and advanced. Today Warlord truly blissful. He had saved his people and now he could do what he did best. He had no worries or complaints left only the moment as he raised his fists towards the oncoming horde.

Random event iniated.

You find yourself awake in a strange bed and room. Surprisingly clean you might add that was when you realized that you had company. As sitting at a chair watching was a figure in strange type of armor.

Hm so you have finally awoken. Must admit our doctors were a bit concerned but also amazed.

Where am I?

The Citadel otherwise known as the Fortress Containment.

So I could of sworn I died...

You did by the sounds of it but somehow you came back...kinda. Your friend brought you here.

Why?

"We are the only ones he knew of who knew how to somewhat deal with," the figures shrugs "whatever you became...kinda truth be told we have no idea how you turned out the way you did."

That was when you got up.

Oh guessing you want to stretch your legs?

Yeah...I do have no idea how long I have been out. Feels like years.

It was months, corrected the figure handing you some extra garments. "It can get chilly."

After putting them on you went outside your room. It was largely empty and he was right despite the damp that hinted at wet heat. It actually was quite chilly. Down the metal passages and the blinking bleary ancient lighting. You trudged on with your...guide right next to you.

I doubt you did this out of the kindness of your hearts so what did you get in return also what about what was with me?

Hm what we got for helping you was a guaranteed armaments resupply. Good stuff too as for what was with you...follow me. With that the figure veered of going what seemed to be in circles only for it to open up to a garage yard. That was when you saw a strange vehicle which called out to you for some reason and a strangely familiar figure turned towards you. It was Markus but who was somehow...different now.

Why its good to see you again...Ramona.

Amazing, I JUST started following this quest on sup/tg/, and here it is!

>Develop a doomsday virus, although later we question if it is effective enough deliver the doomsday or not
>Swamp gets invaded by a new faction of bandits with advanced weaponry
>Attempt to fend them off. We get so SO close to winning except one bad roll fucks us over.
>Before we can use the Virus, that's when Marcus comes out with his super secret project he hid from the hivemind, the Marcus Special Mobile shop. Destroys 2 of their bases, while his wife nukes the others causing a mass influx of ghouls
>Then we play around with some science, with moderate rewards. The best part is the Broodmother went into hibernation and earned lots of powers
>Then we create a new breed of mutant. The Tectus. Fast, agile, silent, eyes and ears of a hawk, with skin that can blend in their are the ultimate scout/sniper/sabotuer
>Throught their scouting efforts we get a much bigger map
>A 2nd new type of bandit builds a base. They mostly dig in, settle down, set up their city for themselves. In our ultimate wisdom (yeah right) we decide to attack before we even communicate or scout. Of course, it ended badly but we nuked one of their bases and the ghouls filled in. Turns out they weren't as bad as we thought, so we left them alone.

Yes, since the very begging. A memor telepathically see's and gives coordinates instantly to our mathematicians. The mathematicians, working telepathically in perfect simultanous coordination, calculate the necessary trajectory. Less than a second later, the teams get a telepathic message where to fire.
Updates are, again, instantly given by the eyes of the scouts via telephathy. This allows for perfect precesion. Similarly the snipers act as so, no longer needing a spotter or line of sigh.

The tectus has greatly enhanced this, as so has Torg and his artillery tactics

we destroyed ALL of her tunnel networks. im pretty sure that Warlord and GlowyJoe were in the middle of the Deep Swamp when that bomb went off. it completely fucked all tunneling efforts ever.

also, with the collapse of the massive tunnel network and the explosion of the biggest bomb since the apoc (possibly ever) i propose that the entire deep swamp (or maybe just most of it) drops by about 20-30 feet. this would discourage monsters/ghouls/everything from leaving there, and it would allow a bit of drainage of some of our swamp making it less "vegetatous"

Sounds like our next research project should be some kind of V2 rocket or biological flying bomb/flying creature with extremely corrosive acid for blood.

If the hivemind being compromised is still an issue, could it be helped by disconnecting most of the individuals and reforming them into smaller groups that have contact by radio, with other words compartmentalize our Hivemind?

As for segregated hiveminds, that's how it used to be way in the begging until we developed the overmind to connect them all. The Prophet of fate can still do that, but this corruption could be complete and total to all hive mind members. Segregating might not help. We don't know much about it.

Ah, you may be right.
Still reading this thread to current events.

The good thing about biological flying bombs is that they could spot for themselves and presumably have sufficient range to reach deep into the swamp. Essentially a target seeking missile (like Zerg Scourges, but able to divebomb) that you can release without a specific target. But if we already have a better plan I'll defer to your greater experience.

the foilage of our swamp is to much to see though from the air, let alone the deep swamp. not only that but that place if filled with TITAN class monsters that do not necessarily serve her but she can call upon them at will

Rolled 75

>>27332896

Actually, how about we
Basic 1
I propose we develop a special class of Mulim. Devote even moreso to psionic detection?

The removal of their eyes and ears to decrease their sensory awareness, the blind Mulim increase their mental awareness. This allows them to see and hear the world through pure psionics. Like being able to tell what a card is before you flip it, they see the world through their minds not their bodies. They would be able mentally see the very links that telepathically bond hivemind members. We can catch the links that connect any of us to the Deep Swamp, and sever them. Also they'd be powerful at other types of psionics, maybe even individual telekensis.

Surely Prophet and the Broodmother can figure out a way.
>>
Rolled 30

>>27333164
ehh its a good side project, theyll be like the psionic tectus

we just need to do some pure research for now, have the Prophet research those crystals, research anything that may aid in psionics

We're just waiting for OP, unless he's waiting for a consens.

monsters dont just plop down and make a nest right outside the wall, they go find a hole and dig it deeper and make their nests there. which is why monsters attack us in the first place it to take our place as there nest. The generall idea is "make our base safe".

So whatever that means, the differences are trivial. What we're not going to do is make uncessary risk, but we are going to stop the attacks where we can and where it is reasonable to do so.

That is the consensus

Rolled 54

So, what options do we actually have?
>>
Rolled 87

>>27333686
were you here the last time? they attack during monster madness, then the monster levels are elevated for a bit, then they settle down. the ghouls will literaly feast upon all of the monsters a soon as it is over.

Rolled 18

>>27333673
Only supporting that in the assumption that "attacking" really means "send out a few scouts and fire artillery on nests and concentrations", only really risking a few dozen scouts and that the attack starts a bit earlier (if the monsters are intelligent enough to track the source of the explosions).

If this is not the case, I retract my support and put it with >>27332806.

>>27333777
>Stoppng an attack

Oh so I guess we can just sit on our butts and don't have to lift a finger then?

What part of "stop there attack where it is reasonable to do so" and "don't take any unecessary risk" do you not comprehend. No one here is saying we send a force outside of the base. We're just trying to kill the damned monsters at our gates. And to do that we must attack the monsters at our gates.

That's what I'm getting at. Attacking them from within our base.

>>27332806
Our forces have been deployed to the outer perimeter to hold the line. A lot of stuff is damaged and its unknown if we can even repair some of it thanks to the tech levels.

Defenses partially repaired.

Monster Mayhem has ended for now. We meanwhile have received a message from the ghouls wondering when we are going to take back our the monstrous mad scientist that is Richard. Apparently he has been screaming about something something SCIENCE. While launching entropic viral bombs everywhere. Every time the swamp adjusted to it and he would tinker with just enough to make it effective once. Apparently he has been causing some serious havoc.

The spiders can do that to. The fixers cut them up into smaller manageable pieces and drag them back to the factories.

And I'm sure there's plenty of other wrecks out in the swamp we haven't touched for years gathering rust too.
>>
Rolled 78

Besides we're not even human nor are we a very ethical people. We'll given him all the humans he wants. We can't even have any qualms with whatever he could possibly research so long as it's not on a Memor citizen or isn't risky.

Not sure whether to give him what he wants so he doesn't hurt us and hope really hard he never ever creates anything like that again on the only planet we have, or try to kill him to make really sure he can't.

Doesn't get much more unethical than tossing Grey Goo around on inhabited planets.

Not enough resources for research.

Richard being in a surprisingly good mood constructed both types of the remaining spiders. Whistling and heading off to the bionics labs printed out some new parts and took his fresh new samples for some SCIENCE...(RICHARD will be busy for 5 turns). It is recommended you don't access his labs until then. In addition the Broodmother has also gone to assist him in his operations. The Prophet meanwhile is rather tired from having to block out the screams so he is quite tired. Luckily he can still do some things thanks to the relief that Clora'Zel is helping to provide.

I'm wondering the potential applications for this.
Certainly the first can be used for psionic detection, glowing brighter and brighter the closer to a source we get.
The second one is more interesting. How is psionic energy stored?
Can it be used like a bomb? Explosive telikinetic force? Some kind of EMP like device that scrambles the minds of other psionic users?
Or like a battery? Storing psionic energy and giving whoever has it a quick boost of power?

More research is needed

When a pesky enemy or a monster makes so much as a move against the behemoth BAM, thousands and thousands of spiders jump and swarm and web it on it while the Behemoth pounds away with it's big guns.

I didn't say the fleshbeasts were useless, only that spiders had their own uses. The Fleshbeasts have their uses too.

If only we could find a way for fleshbeasts to self replicate away from the broodmother. That's their drawback, they have to drag all the flesh back home and have her birth more herself.

I'd certainly like to start planting fleshbeasts nests around our base too.
>>
>>27336632
Right. Don't forget we have to sort through the bright and the dullwitted, the experienced and the novices.
The former we'll have to convince personally.
The latter, we can attempt subliminal messaging on.
>>
Rolled 87

>>27336642
we just need to get the current fleshbeasts to gather biomass for the broodmother to cycle

i think that the sheer amount of fleshbeasts should give us a gathering action

Fuck where's Marcus when you need him.
Least we have Torg. We'll need him to make more BOOM things.

Hmmm, hopefuly it's the later over the former but I'm betting it's not.
Maybe we can exploit their interconflict to our advantage somehow. Pick sides or something.

I've got it.

Have Marcus bring the most explosive, destructive, BOOM things he can. Surely someone will want to trade with us.

Your enemy always has what you want. We take those traded goods and find another tribe who is in want of them, and barter. Slowly we'll collect enough Hillbilly goods to make a decent deal with one of them, perhaps fight one of their enemies

Such as BOOM-Stick. SHOTguns. Rifle Cannon. Eater Plate. Personal Force Shields. EXX rounds. that is just what they have with them.

>They collectively hate outsiders MUCH more then each other. If an outside force shows itself they'll unite against it in a heartbeat.
Okaaaaaay let's just not visit these guys and say we did.

Maybe, since we're so focus on psionics, we go finally visit those wasteland mutants.

Basic 1
>Assist spiders in setting up nests around our base
Basic 2
>Send scouts to the wastelands to determine the situation there
Production
>25 ST's of close quarters variety. Best to keep emergency base defenses

>>

>>27336934
no, we continue research on psionics

Basic 1
>Plant our spiders in the swamp around our base to set up nests/webs and replicate
Basic 2
>So long as he's fine with it, have The Prophet psionicaly link with the mulic/octor and do intense research on the crystals
Production
>STs?

and he said not to go into the wasteland for awhile due to Grey Goo
>>
>>27336950
If we even show our face their it means war, let's not make problems where we don't need them.

We can however, hope the caravans show up. Use them as middle men to trade with Hillbillys and give ourselves a decent name enough that we can step foot and they recognize not to just up and declare war on us.

Spider nests have been established.

Psionic master continues to probe the crystal this time they discovered you could tinker with them to do stuff. Problem is their sorta capped out out research wise unless you wanna figure out how to grow them or develop new psionics to probe them with.

Alright crystal info dump it is.

There are 5 types

Reactive: it reacts to psionic presence/energy

Charged: can store a psionic charge.

Reactionary: can use a psionic ability when activated.

Node: Converts [REDACTED] into psionic energy

Hybrid: With some tinkering can do two or more effects.
>>
Rolled 99

>>27337275

>Have fun coming up with cominations/types/abilities to develop.

>Reactive: it reacts to psionic presence/energy
These are the glowing ones I presume. We should make lots of these, probably as necklaces all Tectus and pilots can were that glow to tip off the presence of enemy Psionics

>Charged: can store a psionic charge.
These are the batteries. We keep these stockpiled, while the collective hivemind leeches off psionic energy to it at a reasonable rate.

>Reactionary: can use a psionic ability when activated.
I presume activation also requires energy, and can be increased with energy thereof. As such, these should be used in conjuction with Charged crystals as the battery source

>Hybrid
A sort of on the fly adataptable crystal to fit changing needs I'd think

Don't know what to do with Node because of good o' REDACTED
>>
>>27337351
Take your time.
By the way thread's nearing the edge of page 15, you can call it a night and sleep on it. Or make a new thread. Or whatever.
>>
>>27337275
Reactive: sensors maybe? not a while lot of options

Charged: a TON of possibilites, implanting them in memor, giving them to memor, psionic powered anything, and a lot more. have the mulic fill them because they will not be in combat

Reactionary: give to every one memor so that they can multi task with psionic abilities

Node: yeah lets go get EVE now

Hybrid: reactionary/charged could do some cool shit, reactive/reactoinary could make psionic traps, charged/reactive could add sensors for the hivemind other than memor eyes

finding out what[REDACTED] is will open up a bunch more
>>
Rolled 50

>>27337370
I'm 100% positive we can weaponize these crystals into some type of psionic gun or cannon. Be great to pierce those psionic/tech combo shields.

>>
>>27337389

>>27337443
well lets get to that. what about Wrath and No Limits?

lets develop an immobilization ability
>>
Rolled 61

AND I rolled 3 doubles in a row. Fuck.
>>
Rolled 31

>>27337426
>they would glow around us so they would be always glowing
They might glow brighter if a powerful enemy psionic is nearby. Or we can program them to change to a specific color in a psionic presence that is not us.
Also it's kinda feelsy to imagine that everytime a Memor dies, his crystal becomes dim or dull.

Yeah, we really need to start growing these guys. What do they need? Water? sunshine? The blood of our enemies?
>>
>>27337479
this is gonna be good

we could always get ramona and marcus back

the development of signifacant psionic abilities may sway marcus, tho they arent very impressive yet
>>
>>27337494
maybe a mulic just has to stare at them for awhile

and that is a feelsy ideas

maybe we could make it so that minds/memories of memor are transfered to the crystal for preservation upon dieing
>>
Rolled 51

>>27337497
Wait till he see's what the psionic railgun can do.
>>
Rolled 92

>>27337466
Wrath calls upon the members of the Hivemind NOT any potential batteries. At least not directly anyway. No limits just releases the natural limiters the body posses but certainly not without risk.

>>27337494
I am afraid the baseline for nodes is [REDACTED].

>>27337497
Markus wont be swayed until you fix your rep. Its to hard to do what he needs to do with such a difficult rep to work with. Not hard to reason out.
>>
Rolled 81

>>27337519
soulstones eh

Something like that, or maybe we can use them to mimic the thought patterns of our heroes. How some of our greatest minds think, so we're not at a complete loss if they're gone.
