Are we sure we couldn't use alchemy on ourselves to grow our hair back? We can use magic to heal ourselves and it seems to be just by speeding up our own natural recovery process using chi, or something like that, if so why can't we use it to accelerate hair growth briefly? The proper living alchemy that we can't do yet is probably about changing our body's structure in significant ways, but the healing we can do is just the stuff our body already does, but faster. If that logic is correct we should be able to speed up our hair growth for a while to get it back to the same length.
