Previous thread here: >>20130886

Alright. We're still working on paint schemes and some of the fluff, namely who the hell they've got working for them. We've got names, but not much else.

We need to fluff out the relations with the Sisters of Battle. Do they have a Covenant on the homeworld?

Do we have any contact with other Blood Angels successors, outside (Maybe) the Flesh Tearers?

More info on our chapter cult. It's pretty obviously Aztec, but how can we make it more Aztec For The Emperor?

Where do our Techmarines fit in this?

In Deathwatch, should we use the Flesh Tearer Primarch Curse and Psychic powers, or the Blood Angels ones?
>>
For those who came in late, he'res a quick summery of the shit that we've got down:

The Blood Jaguars are a chapter with a history of violence. One could in fact say that it is their geneseed itself that contributed to what they are today. Founded in M34, to specifically fight Orks, and parented by the infamous Flesh Tearers, they like their predecessor, suffer from the Black Rage at a higher rate than other Blood Angels successors. An attempt to correct this was made in their founding, but failed to prevent the Red Thirst and Black Rage from occurring at the same level as the rest of the Blood Angels successors. In fact, it may have made the Red Thirst even worse, if whispered rumors hold true.

Stranded by a warp storm from the rest of the Imperium for 2000 years, the Blood Jaguars emerged entirely divergent from the Codex. Gone were the Devestator squads, and in came chain bladed bolters, scout squads ripping apart Orks in frenzied close combat, and a Death Company whose acts of terror cause entire cities to commit suicide rather than face them. Suspected of Khornate worship on multiple occasions though never found tainted outside of Battle Brothers whom they kill themselves, the Blood Jaguars have a rocky relationship with the rest of the Adeptus Astartes and Inquisition. Despite this, the Chapter still seconds Brothers to the Deathwatch, though the eye of suspicion never leaves them.

The Blood Jaguars homeworld, Tenocit, is a jungled hive world, notorious for it's massive felinid predators, and large avian carnivores. Recruits are trained in the harsh jungles, expected to fight and kill predators with little more than stone knives they craft themselves and carry with them for the rest of their time with the chapter.
>>
>>20136073
Harsh survival and combat-trials are favoured over years of disciplined apprenticeship, to ensure that every Blood Jaguar will be able to adapt if separated from the group, as often happens in the dense jungles of Tenocit. This strong emphasis on self-sufficiency, coupled with relentless drills to form an instinctive awareness of momentum, battlefield movements and where to find weaknesses in the enemy lines. Indeed, particularly zealous Jaguars will at times sacrifice themselves in displays of individual courage and bloodthirst, in order to saw terror in the hearts of opponents, creating panic and disorder where there previously were none.

Chapter Master Xipet T'otec is a figure of legend among the Blood Jaguars. One of the first generation of recruits from Tenocit, he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the Chapter Master in M35. Soon after, a warp incursion on their homeworld occured, and the Blood Jaguars rose to meet it. T'otec faced a Daemon Prince of Khorne in hand to hand combat, and songs are still sung by the people of Tenocit of that day. Battered, broken, and skinned alive, T'otec emerged the victor, carving out the Princes heart with his stone knife and ripping it from his body before kicking the corpse off the top of the hab spire. Inturred in a dreadnaught soon after, he still is officially the Chapter Master of the Blood Jaguars, though he has not been wakened in two centuries.

Oh hey, my edit to the summary stayed. Cool. And this is probably the most interesting thing in the three boards I frequent. I salute you, and everyone who collaborated on this majestic Chapter.
>>
I just threw together six pages of copied text of what seems like the most legit ideas. Could upload to the 1d4chan page, let you go through it to remove what you don't like, refresh your memories on the finer points.
>>
>>20136167
Sure. Go right ahead. And post it here as well.
>>
>>20136167
Post it to the talk page.
>>
I think we should add something more aside from the death and blood worship. Given the many harsh solo training and survival tests, what if a Vision Quest-like purification ritual is strictly recommended, along with ritual burnings of enemy leftovers, put through some kind of purification apparatus to remove all that xeno shit, before it's used to fertilize areas of the jungle where xeno taint may have harmed the local flora and microsystems?
>>
>>20136191
>>20136181
I'll go through it first, remove some of the more pointless talking so it's straight to the ideas.
>>
Wasn't it basically decided that our favored enemies among the orkz were the Scraplootaz?

>>20136226
Yeah, not TOTAL "RIP MAIM TEAR".

>>20136239
Okay, have fun.
>>
With this and the Scraplootas >>20135819 /tg/ is getting pretty busy with creating really.

More power to us!
>>
>>20136273
We must start a meta rivalry.
QUICK, WE MUST FIGURE OUT WHY WE HATE THEM.
>>
>>20136312
Ask in that thread, I'm sure they can find a way.
>>
>>20136312
They have a titan. We don't. That's reason enough. GRRR, WE WANT TO RIP AND TEAR WITH A GIANT ROBOT!
>>
>>20136269
Learn to live with the environment instead of against it. Which is really the only way to survive in such an area. Tranquillity in non-combat situations is propagated, and there's surprisingly little of the social rank-muscling among the Blood Jaguars. They've all tested themselves and been judged by the most honest of judges: Mother Nature herself. Due to this they often have a humble attitude towards non-hostiles. They are allowed to train and keep pets, as long as they are kept under firm control and fighting amongst the Marines' animals is strictly forbidden.
>>
>>20136312
Uh, they're orks and a Tau, and they have a Chaos Titan. If they're ANYWHERE near us, we have all the reason in the world to try to rip their guts out.
>>
>>20136357
That makes sense. We're pretty scarey motherfuckers, we drink blood, we eat the hearts of our foes (As long as they aren't Chaos Tainted) but we're not RIP AND TEAR, BLOOD FOR THE EMPRAH all the time.
>>
>>20136465
The way I see it though, they ought to be somewhat distant from "usual" affairs. Like when they aren't using their finely honed senses and bloodlust, they're kind of floating around just saving their focus for the time to burst out into, well. You know.
>>
>>20136452
I meant them specifically.
Of course we hate them in a general sense, but that's just our standard hate.
We're talking ultimate exterminatus level hate.
>>
>>20136536
Also makes sense. Outside of the Death Company anyway.
>>
>>20136536
Ah, and this could be another purpose of the Black Road to the Sun or whatever: When they've gone long enough to feel their senses getting dull (should such a thing ever happen) or their semi-forced distance from more peaceful affairs slip, they head out alone to one of the few situations where they can completely give themselves to the moment and its challenges.
>>
>>20136562
True. I've no experience with Death Companies, to be honest, so I'll stay entirely clear of that.

>>20136560
Their areas of expertise are quite distant. One specializes in, well, the name says it all, and the Blood Jaguars... Hatred usually needs common or at least clashing ground.
>>
>>20136623
Death Companies are pretty much part of the whole "Being a Blood Angels successor" Schtick. When the Black Rage overtakes a marine, they are inducted into the Death Company, and sent into battle in the hopes that their torment will end in death.
>>
>>20136681
Why would we have a CHAOS Titan?
That is an honest question; I don't have a very in depth understanding of 40k fluff.
>>
>>20136681
>Spess Mahreens
>Titans
They don't get them. At all.
>>
>>20136708
They just looted it.

Maybe the titan belonged to that deamon prince the chapter master killed.
>>
>>20136744
That would make sense actually.
>>
>>20136744
>>20136760
It might, but as >>20136623 said, it still doesn't make us possible rivals.
>>
>>20136779
Well, the Blood Jaguars could want to eliminate every last trace of that Daemon Prince.
>>
>>20136779
hmm.
Maybe the Jaguars were planning an all out assault on the remnants of the deamon prince army, in honor of their chapter master's sacrifice.
But the orks got there first, krumped everyone, and took the titan.
So natural they would get pissed off.

How the orks managed to get the titan off the planet is beyond me
>>
>>20136826
Makes sense that a tribal-like blood and death cult would want to erase all traces of their most hated enemy, even millennia after said enemy was last seen.
>>
>>20136826
>>20136849
Both of these work magnificently, especially together.
We went to destroy the remnant forces, with intent of full purge revenge, found out we couldn't.
And especially couldn't since something was left, meaning we couldn't even do the 'full purge' part.
>>
>>20136878
It does doesn't it. In otherwords, we're trying to find Boris, and last we heard, he's with Orks. So we're pretty much hunting down Orks not only because it's our job, but because they have the last trace of our most hated enemy.
>>
>>20136921
Just imagine how pleased Khorne will be at their reaction to the news that the Chaos Titan has been found. Assuming the Scraplootas are interested.
>>
>>20136984
He's going to smile. We'd be approaching a rage level capable of outstripping Kharn's.
>>
>>20136849
>How the orks managed to get the titan off the planet is beyond me

WIF A GRABBIN KLAW ON DA SHIP YA GIT!
>>
I'm not going to be the one to suggest this to the Scraplootas folks.

>>
>>20137316
Maybe the Chief Librarian is the only one who has access to the hidden records of the Chapter's and the planet's history during the 2000 year long warpstorm? Could be that there's one semi-known (as in, all Jaguars and some hiveworld officials) instance of an internal Khornate revolution. But that was the only one severe enough not to be suppressed - in reality there's been several more such conflicts since, when several Khornate Jaguars have banded together to overthrow the order. And he's entirely fanatical when it comes to protecting this knowledge, especially from the Inquisition.
>>
>>20137432
If you go with that, the dreadnaughts should have the Aztec styled Jaguar face thing welded on them where their little viewing slit is right where the mouth of the jaguar opens.
>>
Okay, wrote up a basic idea of RAGE.

A heritage of hatred excavated
In a massive showing of rage and honor, the Black Jaguars set out to find the remnants of the force belonging to the daemon prince that killed their chapter master then uterly and completely eviscerate them. They were able to find them, but found the Scraplootas already underway in taking victory and shortly after leaving with a titan. The Blood Jaguars quickly chased and engaged them, but not many of their normal fear tactics worked, thus incurring more rage.

What do you kind Blood Jaguars and horrible Scraplooters think?
>>
>>20137547
And a bright sun depicted around the flamethrower opening.
>>
>>20137551
Also, it's on the wiki right now.
>>
>>20137524
Seems a little too Dark Angels. But a good idea.
>>20137551
I like it.
>>
>>20137589
I really don't know jack shit about the Dark Angels, to be honest. So it's entirely okay by me to scrap it, I can see if you more knowledgeable folks don't want this little project to be mirroring the official Chapters too much.
About the Apothecary then, how about he's into experiments on orky life-forms? If we've got growing pits (which I'm also okay with not having) for training purposes, why not? Maybe he's been trying to create a Chaos-sniffing low-spore-spreading Squiggoth or something, just in order to find that Titan. Or just domesticated squigs and squiggoths meant to be found by orkz, who'll integrate them without knowing that they'll turn on them on command by the Jaguars.

Could implant some kind of device directly into their brains, set them off with the right frequency. Would make it easier, just grow 'em and plant them for the orks to find. Of course, only for defensive purposes: Let the orks forgot which ones were found and which ones were home-grown. Then when they come, the Jaguars put on a show and use the frequency, making some Squiggoths and Squigs panic, for what the orks seems like pure fright. They'll never get what's really happening.

These orks, these... Scraplootas, as they call themselves, have harried and molested our company for far too long. Chapter Master Kkil Hutn oversaw the creation of the Tenocit-pattern Baneblade. On top of the standard chassis lies a small sacrificial altar, atop which is a long-range parallel multi-lascannon assembly, referred to by the PDF as the 'Solar devastator', or 'Sun Beam'. It is in fact a Tenocit-pattern Retribution-class lascannon. Its' use is strictly controlled by the Tenocit Astartes, being the only weapon of its' type in existence. While not directly related to the operation of the main weapon, tradition dictates a worthy warrior be disembowelled on the weapon-altar before firing. This tradition has always been followed on the 114 times the weapon has been fielded.

>>
Ok random half asleep thought time.
They worship the sun as the emperor or the eye of the emperor. Fighting under the sun is a the greatest sign of devotion and those who fight at night are seen as cowardly because they wish to hide their actions from the emperor

They also perform their sacrifices when the sun is high so that the emperor can see their offerings to him most clearly
>>
>>20138304
Also, remember, our Chapter Master is T'ocit. and he's been in a dred for the last 5 Millenia.
>>
>>20138304

I don't know, the idea of a this superweapon 'needing' the sacrifice of a 'great warrior' is appealing. It's supposed to be the sort of thing that'd core a Titan. It's used probably once a century, not much more. I'm taking some liberties with the fluff, but imagine a lascannon scaled up, fired from between two vertical generators.

How about instead, tradition dictates offering the most worthy foe upon it's altar before it can be put back into storage, often leading to them prolonging their crusade and continuing to fight elsewhere on the planet if they cannot secure what they deem is a worthy enough sacrifice.

Every year, many youths travel to attempt to climb the pyramid of the gods, to be chosen to become a Blood Jaguar.
Both boys and girls set off, but only boys arrive at the pyramid for the rite of ascension.

Stories and rumour spread from hive to hive, talking about horrific monsters that prey on those who travel in the thick jungle, or of the women being chosen by the Blood Jaguars as their brides.

The truth of the matter is a well kept secret.

On the far side of the planet from the Blood Jaguars' fortress monestary lies a small convent of the Adepta Sororitas, located on an island in the middle of a colossal river, they are members of the Order of the Martyred Heart, an offshoot of the Order of the Valourous Heart.
The Sisters track down each girl attempting to do what none have before done, and seize them, taking them back to their convent, where they are raised and trained in the lessons of the Martyred Heart.

The Martyred Heart and Blood Jaguars are allies, and it is not unknown for the Martyred Heart to provide artillery support for the Jaguars in battle.

This I can see. Likely our chapter cult diverged during that 2000 year isolation to something similar to what the natives were doing.
>>
>>20138739

That's what I was thinking. The Imperial Cult on this planet is based on the Emperor of Suns. That the big E controls (along with everything else) the sun and its' rising and falling. They believe in basically what everyone else believes but have been so cut off that the Cult has morphed into something much more bloody. It's not even a hard jump to make - The Emperor of Man controls the known galaxy, why not the stars within it?

Someone pointed out that, despite having the one thing that can indefinitely put our entire chapter into a temporary bout of Black Rage, we're just another enemy to them. This probably makes us rage EVEN HARDER.
Is there something beyond the Black Rage? Because they would easily send us into it.

I'm thinking our warp incursion should be near the end of our warpstorm interment.

I don't think there would ever be a better reason to want to destroy every last sign of that daemon lord.

Shit yes! Aztecs were all about for their "War of the Flowers" business. It makes more sense to sacrifice someone who's a worthy foe AND a heretic / xeno / etc. The Emperor would love that.

Tho' if this practice continues in view of others (allied forces, Deathwatch, what-have-you), it gets weird...

"Hey, we're almost done here. The the Chaos Lord's shown himself so it's only a matter of time before we can finish 'em off.

How does this work?:
At some time the Blood Jaguars home sector was swallowed by a warp storm that lasted 2000 years. During this time Xipet T'otec rose to the position of chapter master and majorly reformed the chapter, earning him much respect in the chapter. Nearing the end of their interment, the Blood Jaguars home world was beset upon by a warp incursion led by a daemon prince. Xipet fought the daemon, getting skinned alive amongst many other injuries during the fight. In the end, he was able to defeat the leader of the chaos forces, but at the sacrice of his own life. After this he was entombed into a custom dreadnought, though. Due to his mighty changes, the defeat of a mighty enemy in single melee, and seemingly bringing the end of the warpstorm with his victory, he is regarded as the most mighty to exist amongst their ranks.

It's just a basic idea. I wanted to make Xipet a logically possible major badass that has a reason to be followed.
Please edit as you see fit.
Also, it does contradict some other stuff on the wiki.
>>
>>20140272
>he is regarded as the most mighty to exist amongst their ranks.
Which is why it -really- burns when the Scraplootas mock their "little Boris"
>>
>>20140378
By any chance do you have that 'my rage could be tapped as an infinite energy source' screencap?
Because that's a minor version of what we would feel going against the emperor-damned Scraplooters.
>>
>>20140378
That is brilliant

Boris can be yelling at the "little Boris" to stop muckin about and get krumpin.

Meanwhile Xipet and the jaguars are just flaming at the mouth and losing all semblance of self control
>>
>>20140272

Hey, even GW admits their fluff is messed up.

But personally, I find Xipet totally legit.

I only think that the Librarians, like a circle of them, should be the ones to take out the warp storm, as Xipet murderfucking the Daemon Prince just makes it weaker.
>>
>>20140531
I have not a damn clue how warpstorms work.
I meant the storm ends in the next 40 or so years after Xipet slaughtered the daemon. Which is pretty fucking significant for a storm that's lasted 2000 years.

What are the average lifespans in 40k?

>>20140584

Astartes or regular lifespans?

If it does take that long for the storm to dissipate on its own, I suppose the 40 years bit is fine. But cut that time down given how many Librarians are working on it.

And warp storms are noted to be unpredictable. Some last forBUTTFUCKever while some just go in the time it takes to turn around.

Rewrote the Scraplooters section. Here's the new version:
>They were able to find them and lay seige to their forces that included a titan. Partway into the fight it became clear a second group was engaged with the chaos forces, as the titan disengaged from combat surrounded on the ground by orks. Fully engaged in combat with chaos with no troops to send after the titan, they could only look on horrified at the sight of the very xenos scum that they were founded to destroy walked off with a piece of the very group they had sworn to eviscerate in the name of their chapter master.

Apart from the mag being backwards it looks good. I think the bayonet should be pointed however. Without stabbing power it would have nothing to keep it in place. Ever try to cut a tree with the tip of a chainsaw? Yeah.

>>20143715
Cool. I gimped on the Aztec like patterns but I just wanted to get the idea across.
>>20143724
Yeah I did that intentionally for the chain blade's sake. Looking again I should have just added a blad shielf on the clip hold.
>>
>>20143724
Maybe put a bladed tip that attaches to the very tip of the bayonet, giving it slicing power for jungle excursions and the biting power needed to get the chainsaw part sawing.
>>
>>20143724
I figured they would less be thrusting with it and more slashing with it.

They are berserker aztec jungle marines after all

Is the mag being reversed that huge a deal? I thought that it could be engineered to still load properly just like a forward swept mag.

2 last things

- Bolter cases are rimmed, so if you want to use a sickle mag it needs to curve forward or it doesn't make any sense.
- The chain of the bayonet doesn't need to extend so far back. As it is now it kind of looks like it would be impossible for the chain to wrap back around without cutting into the users fingers.

Otherwise it looks great. With the brace it now feels structurally sound.

Ah I never read the war gear handbook.
>>
>>20145158
Some Bolters do use straight mags though, it depends on the pattern. The Godwyn pattern bolter for example which is supposed to be the most common uses sickle shaped mags but the tigrus, stalker and umbra are all shown to be able to use straight mags if not only use them but they are in much lesser circulation.
Then the angelus pattern only are shown to have drum mags.

I decided to do some fluff up, some base stuff on the planet and the chapter fortress. I submit it here to see if it meets approval.

Tenocit, homeworld of the Blood Jaguars, is a hive world unlike virtually any other, for instead of pollution-choked wastelands, the landscape of the planet is verdant primordial jungle. Tendrils of creepers and dense forest reach right up to the very walls around most hives on Tenocit, save for the planetary capital of Technochtitlan, which is situated at the centre of a vast lake. Technochtitlan Hive is separated into four sections; the Spire of the Stars being the primary spaceport, the Spire of the Sun being dedicated to the Ecclesiarchy, the Spire of Offerings houses the planetary governor and Administratum, and the Spire of the Earth is where workers live. The Hives of Tenocit are much more pyramidal than most Imperial Hives, which seems to have its roots in the cultural practices of the native peoples in the Age of Strife.
>>
>>20146275

Tenocit’s unusually verdant geography owes its survival to two factors. The first is the high oxygen content of the atmosphere; around 38% as opposed to a more typical 21% on colonised worlds. This would be of little consequence if not for the second factor, which is a unique fungus, Mortem Sacco, that grows around the roots of most trees on Tenocit. This heterotroph looks unremarkable at first, save for the bulbous sack-like growths that characterise it, but it is how it produces these tubers that makes it invaluable. The fungus actively absorbs heavy metals and harmful chemicals from the soil and air, storing them in the growths it produces. When full, the sealed bulbs drop off and, protected by a tough shell, remain safely isolated for decades. The fungus does this for two reasons; the first is simply survival; by removing these harmful substances from the soil, the trees the fungus needs to grow on are more likely to survive and reach new heights. The other is that the storage of these materials is simply a by-product of the fungus taking in nutrients for itself.
>>
>>20146280

The Imperium naturally has seen the value of Mortem Sacco and several unsuccessful attempts have been made to transplant the fungus to the many Imperial worlds choked by pollution. Unfortunately, Mortem Sacco requires a high level of atmospheric oxygen to survive, and on all the worlds it has been taken to thus far, it has failed to take hold. For the inhabitants of Tenocit, the fungus is considered a blessing from the Sun Emperor and the bulbs are regularly collected from accessible regions of jungle and brought to the Hives, where they are crushed and the industrial useful substances within them extracted. Collection of the bulbs can be highly profitable; one consortium has risen to the status of the nobility solely through harvesting.
>>
>>20146288

One group on Tenocit though uses the bulbs for very different purposes. For them, the poison sacks are used in a sacred ritual, and aspirants must not only gather the bulb from the jungle himself, but must also bring it to the place where he shall be tested. This is no simple journey, for the pilgrim must traverse hundreds of miles of primordial jungle, swarming with predators, sickness and heat. Countless are lost every year to the jungle’s many perils, but the chosen few survive and reach their goal. They will see it in the distance after many weeks travel, rising out of the canopy. Vines and trees cling to its surface, giving the impression that this is a natural outcrop of rock, but in a few places, glimpses of human architecture can be seen. When they reach its base they will see a shattered wall, choked with vegetation, and when they pass through that wall and venture inside, they will see what this creation truly is. It is a Hive spire, long abandoned and overtaken by the jungle. A Hive spire they must climb to its’ very summit.
>>
>>20146296

When the Ruinous Powers invaded Tenocit in M35, a daemonic host besieged the great Hive of Xolotl. Defended by the Blood Jaguars, Xolotl was no easy conquest. The relentless Daemonic horde materialised within the Hive itself, and proceeded to slaughter most of the population in hours before a coherent defence could be organised. The Blood Jaguars defended each level of the Hive with breathtaking ferocity, making the warp spawn pay for every inch of ground. Force of numbers pushed the defenders higher and higher, until they were trapped on the summit. It was there that Chapter Master T’otec fought his duel against a Daemon Prince of Khorne, and after a titanic battle cast down the unholy creature and shattered the horde, driving them back into the immaterium. At the site of their greatest triumph, the chapter established their new Fortress, and Xolotl was rechristened as the Pyramid of the Gods. No humans save the Space Marines and their aspirants dared to return, and the jungle quickly consumed the great Hive. Now, it is the first challenge that aspiring Blood Jaguars must face before they can join the chapter.
>>
>>20146301
Ascending the Pyramid of the Gods is no simple task. Generations of unrestricted plant growth have blocked off many old thoroughfares, collapsed buildings and blocked tunnels. It is dark, with only occasional beams of light filtering through the canopy that coats the Hive. Waterfalls cascade from high above, splashing onto rusting beams coated in lichen. Pitfalls and snares are not the only dangers however. Predators stalk the levels, preying on anything they find. And whispered rumours speak of darker things, unholy creatures that remained behind when their general was slain. Whether such rumours are true is unknown; for the aspirant trying to ascend the Hive, they are all too real for comfort.

If the pilgrim reaches the summit, he will find a lone Blood Jaguar waiting for him. The Marine will say nothing until presented with a bulb of Mortum Sacco. Once presented, the Brother will lead the aspirant inside. If a bulb is not offered, the aspirant is turned away. Inside the temple, the recruit is subjected to the process required to turn a human into an Astartes. It is a dangerous one. Many do not survive.
>>
>>20146306

The augmented aspirant’s final challenge is as much spiritual as it is physical. He must ingest the bulb he carried to the summit of the Pyramid. The bulb represents the corruption that the Blood Jaguars must all face and defeat. A Brother who cannot take such corruption inside himself, and live, is weak of both flesh and spirit. He must master it and prevail.

When his eyes open, if they open at all, they will behold the green canopy of the jungle spread before him, with the Sun rising on the horizon. He will breathe the humidity, hear the roar of the jaguar and feel the blessed rays of the Sun Emperor on his skin. From this day forth, he is a Blood Jaguar.

In M38, once a 2000 year warp-storm had subsided, an expedition was assembled to ascertain whether or not the inhabitants had been tainted. The reconnaissance force was comprised mainly of the Inquisition with a small detachment of Grey Knights. A larger force of Ultramarines was held in reserve, at their own insistence, expecting the worst to come from the surface of Tenocit.

Ambushing it seems like something we'd do, but likely it was non-violent. We popped in, bolters were leveled and stuff, but no one got killed. Justifiable paranoia almost made it end in a blood bath though.
Too much for the Necron tomb world, in my opinon, but it's a great idea.
I like the idea of the Tau arriving and just getting slaughtered and eaten, but then again, that's because I like it when the Tau are the buttmonkeys. Trying to negotiate with Space Marines to get them to join the greater good sounds just like something they'd do.
Ork idea sounds good as well.

In order to prove their purity the jaguars went on a crusade, here they fought the chaos legion that belonged to the daemon prince and there they found a Titan, during the battle an ork waagh charged the Titan from behind and made off with it before they could cleanse the foul construct and since then they have made it a chapter goal to track down and destroy these horrid xenos and their blasphemous Titan,
>>
>>20146720
Warband who's daemon prince we killed, and who's Titan got looted by the Scrappalootas.
>>
>>20146760
That's a pretty good idea really.

Someone would have to whack up a new thread and go through the generator that got posted a bit earlier.

It would be fun.
The daemon in the Titan is supposedly khornate but I suppose we can talk to the scraplootas about that

Has anyone elaborated on the Jaguar's role regarding the hives under their protection? How involved they are and all that.
As for the Sororitas, we had the idea yesterday with a number of Devastators acting as more or less permanent guards for ritual places and holy sites, often erected near strategical hotspots to make mop-up and encirclement easier. How about Sororitas and initiates have to visit all of these spots in succession and undergo ritualistic trials? So it's less harsh than the Black Road to the Sun (or whatever) in that you don't HAVE to fight anything out in the jungle, but you'll also be forced to interpret the hidden meanings in these rituals to find your way to the next holy place.
>>
>>20146844
Wait for now.
We've got at least three groups being ACTIVELY developed right now.
tg is probably stretched way too thin for another at the moment.

Also, how possible would it be for all of us to set up in the tiji sector?

>>20146867

>>
>>20146962
Shit man, just started it. I'll delete the thread if you want me to.
>>
>>20147011

We can put them on hold for full fluff but having a solid enemy for the two groups would be nice
>>
>>20147011
LET'S ROLL WITH IT.
No delete, to be clear.
And it was just a suggestion. I'm suprised you'd delete something for me.
>>
Could have some Blood Jaguar traitors in the warband. You know, some who left seeing the failure to bring down or capture the Titan as too great to live through, especially after the Chapter Master brought down a Daemon Prince. So they went all "The last great Jaguar has been eternally entombed, and to remain within the Chapter after it's fallen thus would be the greatest shame of all", and then they all fuck off to worship Khorne or something.
>>
>>20147095
A couple of traitors having escaped to the warband would work. Part of the reason we hate their fucking guts.
>>20147048
If it was needed, I would have deleted it.
>>
>>20147095
And to elaborate on my own idea, maybe these traitors see the fact that CM Xipet T'otec remains "alive" inside a Dreadnaught as unacceptable, given how he was the greatest Jaguar of them all, and he shouldn't be relegated to such a state of half-living. So they see themselves as Xipet T'otec loyalists, and want to "free" him. Which could be one of the main causes for the Librarians to avoid the Inquisition - that such a split occurred and has fueled more than one rebellion sown by Chaos Jaguars.
>>
>>20147159
That would be pretty damn interesting actually.
>>
>>20147215
Trapped inside his tomb, more dead than alive, sleeping in the darkness, hidden from the eye of the sun. The last and greatest Jaguar ever to live. True adherents to the Sun and Xipet T'otec, who embodied it more than anyone other than the Emperor himself, would do anything to see this heresy and disgrace rectified. If to see this through, their souls be forced to step into the Shadow and the Night forever, so be it.
>>
>>20146934

"Road to the Black Sun" might have a better ring to a trial.
>>
Is there no faction we will create that will not turn the Blood Jaguars into catatonic balls of rage?
The scraplooters have a titan that we must destroy, among other things.
The chaos band killed our chapter master(even if he was saved) among other things.
The Tecnocrity is a group of humans hiding from the emperor.
The Black Locks say they'd steal our most important relics.

I'm amazed we haven't purged ourselves because of rage induced incompetence.
>>
>>20147301
Nah their rage is what fuels their strength
They see almost anything and they go into a frothing rage and try to tear them apart.

The scraplootas get away because they have Boris and an ungodly amount of grots
>>
>>20147301

We got them Sisters. I'm also thinking that the homeworld might be situated in a system where the other worlds offer tribute to the Jaguars, like the Aztecs of old and all them other tribes whose shit they wrecked.

These worlds give stuff to the Jaguars, maybe even criminals and heretics to be sacrificed (tho' the Jaguars say they're gonna turn 'em into servitors or some shit).
>>
>>20147301
I'm sticking to suggestions in the hope of developing the Jaguars, not touching all that other stuff. And in a way, I see the Jaguars as more intense than raging if they can avoid it. Losing your head in the jungle is rarely a good way to survive a solo survival trial, after all.
>>20147263
I agree, as long as it also fits the theme. Black Sun sounds heretical.
>>
I suppose this has been commented on earlier but... Well.. There has been LOTS of text.

Anyhow, my aspie-trait strikes again and I wonder if it is really necessary to mix mayan and aztec names? I've seen both Kukulkan and Xipe Totec mentioned.
>>
>>20147363
It's the red thirst and black rage that makes them so mad though.
They nearly have aneurysms when they see the scraplootas because they have a heretic imperator and are xenos who have escaped them before
Triple rage.
>>
>>20147384
It is necessary, why? Because we like the sound of them.
>>
>>20147386
Exactly, which is why it's also an internal issue. Too many giving in to the rage with its discovery and excavation. But wilderness survival is all about keeping your head screwed on, so all these gruelling and brutal regiments and trials are meant to weed out those who can keep up during brutal conditions and brutal combat without giving in to the rage at any given opportunity. They're basically trying to combat the Rage through intensity and focused (here's that word again) brutality. Basically venting as much anger out as possible while trying to keep from snapping the moment there's an excuse, because that's not what the jungle teaches.
Then along comes Boris, and, well.
>>
>>20147359
I like this idea really.
>>
So, what is the Jaguars' battlecry?
>>
>>20147443
>those who can keep up
*can't
>>
>>20147443
Along comes Boris who calls our dreadnought chapter master little Boris and we get so angry that even the angry marines step back
>>
>>20147263
How it sounds doesn't matter much to me.
They are worshippers of the sun and the trial is part of becoming a soldier for the emperor, who is the living source of the suns power as they see it.
The ritual is basically walking through darkness to come under the glorious suns rule.
In other words, it's the dark road to the sun.
[spoilers]Yes, I did just bullshit that.[/lolnope]
>>
>>20147497
Good sounding bullshit.
>>
>>20147476

Well, part of the Aztec's war culture was their formations just copying the sounds of animals; jaguars, snakes, certain birds, what-have-you.

Given that their default mode is pants-on-head angry, I take it they just copy the hunting and fighting cries of the felids that wander the jungles.

Oh, yeah. Concerning off-world prisoners, maybe not really lie but not really tell the truth either. "They will the serve the Emperor in their own way," that sorta thing...
>>
>>20147497

Agreed. Definitely better. Someone who falls short is "walking under a Black Sun", signifying that the Emperor has turned his face away from the disgraced.

Good thing we made the Jaguar Warriors, rather than Eagle Warriors.

Otherwise we'd be the Blood Eagles
>>
>>20147443
>combat the Rage through intensity and focused (here's that word again) brutality
Or rather, instead of combating it, they try to roll with it for as long as they don't lose it completely. Just like how you don't combat mother nature, you work with it to your advantage against the other motherfuckers trying to screw you. Same way you roll with the anger, trying not to explode entirely.

How does that sound?
>>
>from wikipedia

The Shorn Ones

The "Shorn Ones" (Cuachicqueh)[20] was the most prestigious warrior society — their heads were shaved apart from a long braid over the left ear. Their bald heads and faces were painted one half blue and another half red or yellow. They had sworn not to take a step backwards during a battle on pain of death at the hands of their comrades.

Surely we can use this somehow.
>>
>>20147509
It's amusing that the name was originally just something I got for us by combining 'The Dark Road' and 'Road to the Sun' as a compromise.
Now we even have a fluffy reason for it being named that!
>>
>>20147555

Maybe that's something for the Death Company?
>>
>>20147578
I'm not sure if the Death Company needs such vows to always act like that. Not that I'm saying it's a bad idea or that I oppose it or anything.
>>
>>20147578
I'd think first company rather.
>>
>>20147614

Makes sense. The DC aren't known for sitting still.

First Company then?
>>
>>20147622
>>20147618
I don't know feels like we should be careful about directly copying the Aztecs too much. Isn't having a Death Company following the same doctrine enough?
>>
>>20147622
Fits the first company well.
>>
Teylaloc the Lord of Bones is an ancient creature.
Those who have seen him without his armour say they are suprised his papery skin can hold his fragile bones together, but he seems sustained by an inner fire. His rage and faith keeping him going, making him the oldest in the chapter, next to Xipet T'otec.

Teylaloc was but a scout during the great storm that engulfed Tenocit, but when it cleared, he was inducted into the Reclusiam, to carry Xipet's broken and bloody form to be intered in a sacred Dreadnought.

Since attaining the dual rank of Reclusiarch and Master of Sanctity, Teylaloc has made the rites and trials of the chapter even stricter, and more dangerous.
He belives the Storm was a sign of the Sun Emperor's displeasure, and that the Blood Jaguars nearly lost their chapter master due to his trial by blood. Therefore they must be stronger to prove themselves worthy in the Emperor's ever burning gaze.
>>
>>20147658

Hmmm., we'll keep that under advisement. But the point has merit.

The Shorn Ones probably took to calling themselves that after they couldn't save Xipet T'otec from the daemon, thus referring to themselves as "Those Shorn of Honor" or the "Shorn Ones". To join the company is to join their responsibility to never falter again in battle.
>>
>>20147658
I agree with this.
We shouldn't copy things just to copy them.
If it fits well, sure. But we shouldn't specifically try to cram as much in as we can.
>>
>>20147709
Question, what do you think about >>20147443
>>20147543

I can't help but see them as catlike predators (or maybe raptors) rather than... those savannah badger-like things... honey badgers! Yeah, I see them as more cunningly fierce and intense. Not celtic warriors or berserkers.
>>
>>20147759
It gives a potential helmet scheme.

Orrrr... "shorn" becomes a metaphorical thing, in that the Entire first company goes without helmets to show their bravery.
>>
>>20147786
Same. They try to harness the rage, not let it run wild, like say the Flesh Tearers do for the most part. As such, the Death Company are really just that: dead, but they just don't know it yet. So they get thrown into battle in the hopes they die with honor befitting a once proud warrior.
>>
In keeping with the Aztec "sacrifice to the sun god so it may rise again" deal, is there any way to tie the blood jaguars to the black-ships and the psyker gatherers who fuel the Emperor?

If that's stupid forgive me, I just stepped in here.
>>
>>20147846
We don't sacrifice those with psyker powers, and instead give them to the black ships?
>>
>>20147846
Hm, well, it's certainly another aspect of their sacrificial fetish. I like it.
>>
The Blood Jaguars actively work to support the black ships.

That's scary. (And would fit with their sororitas ties. They both work for the Ordo Hereticus at times)
>>
>>20147846

Probably why they don't fight with a standard war cry.

>>20147840

Oh, forgot about psykers... Thanks for pointing that out, anon.

The Warpstorm that cleared due to Xipet's sacrifice (or not, heh) ought to have some mystic explanation in the Blood Jaguar history books and mythology. What had they done to deserve it, what was their sin?
Just throwing this out, but what if no Jaguars joined the Warband? What if there's instead been two great splits: One about a century before the Warpstorm, entirely coincidental, which resulted in a number of ex-Jaguars taking initiates with them to found a hidden city underground? Not sure about why or what their continued deal would be yet... But say that after Xipet and the imprisonment detailed in >>20147159
>>20147095
those who martyred themselves for the sake of their CM by going against their now "defiled" brothers, found (or were found by) them, and found an ally and a place to bide their time. If we're going to use the Shorn stuff, it could be better used as a policy adopted by either of these now allied renegade factions.
>>
>>20147984
Mythology. Huh. Maybe the Emperor was testing their devotion.
>>
>>20147984
Xipet gave his life willingly to the Emperor to destroy the taint upon his planet. However the Emperor decided that Xipet's service was not yet over and he had to return to finish the fight against the enemies of man
>>
>>20148025
Or those who strayed from the Sun called the Warpstorm through their wicked actions, and the Emperor saw fit to test and/or punish them until hey proved themselves worthy - which Xipet took care of. And those who split from the Jaguars after this see his subsequent imprisonment as heresy towards the warrior who earned them all the Emperor's forgiveness.
>>
>>20148051
That's how the Blood Jaguars sees it. The traitor loyalists however think they're full of shit and that Xipet should be allowed to ascend under the light of the sun.

Important members section part:

Human sacrifice
Head Apothecary and DC Chaplain work closely together, and often take long walks together (NO HOMO) in the jungles, searching for a plant that might hold a cure for the Black Rage and Red thirst
Our Reclusiarch is fucking ANCIENT. No one is really sure how old he is.
The Second Company Captain runs the chapter while the Chapter Master is sleeping.
Librarians are pretty much covering up and killing all evidence of any marines that fell to Khorne.
>>
>>20148119

>>
Sorta late, been following for a while and just caught up.

Do our Psykers use pain/terror/life released by sacrifices as a way to perform their WARP MAJIKS?
>>
>>20149550
Hell. Some might. That's actually a pretty cool fluff idea, but it sounds a little too heretical.
>>
>>20149550
I don't think we've talked much about that, and I don't know much about Psykers. But if they can do that, it sounds fitting. One thing I also did in a superhero MMO was a hero with empathetic powers. He'd at times reach out and grasp the pain he caused others in combat, to harden his resolve and better understand what his actions meant to others. Maybe that's another Trial, being able to bear the pain of being a sacrifice, but without being sacrificed.
>>
>>20149175
What if the Apothecary IS the Chaplain? this could also give him a big slice of influence inside the chapter, creating silent power struggles with the 2nd comp Captain... maybe he have absolute decisional power regarding the DC
>>
>>20149611
So they reach out and take the pain their brothers are feeling to reinforce their wills? Soothing the pain of wounds and fortifying their minds against the rage?
>>
>>20149614
...Why the fuck not? It would make sense that the Apothecary would be interested in the Death Company anyway, and it wouldn't be a stretch to see one become a Death Company Chaplain as well. A bit of a power struggle between him and the 2nd Company Captain is also a great bit of fluff.
>>
I'm thinking many powerful attacks are created by several psyker priests unifying their powers, sorta like an astropath choir.
>>
>>20149630
I was more thinking that they sacrifice someone on the Altar, and then a Psyker releases the pain of the sacrifice onto the man holding the knife, or another Initiate/Jaguar. But I can see situations where taking on the pain of a brother or superior could be seen as ritualistic, to better understand the pain of living, and dying. They are something of a death cult, after all, along with being a life cult.
>>
>>20149611
So, any marine developes his dormant psyker potential during the trial, feeling what means to be on the two sides of a blade at the same time, just to shut it down permanently in 99% of cases?
no wonder Khorne lusts after these guys.
>>
>>20149630
Do the psykers take a more supportive role then? Either pushing the brothers further or pulling them back, letting them walk the fine edge of the Rage?
>>
>>20149698
That could be possible. Psychic powers based around causing wounds to yourself, to cause the enemy to take wounds? Psychic powers that grant Feel No Pain to everyone but the Librarian? Psychic powers around healing wounds or inflicting mental pain?
>>
>>20149692
I wasn't really thinking about making them all capable of doing that, as much as that they might all have to experience it. I don't know how viable it is either. But I do think it's a bit overkill to have them all develop their psyker potential. It sounds risky as well.
>>
>>20149698
>>20149791
Well death and life are two sides of the same coin
They use the energy of death to sustain life. They use the sweet chill of oblivion to soothe their brothers anger.

And on the other side they cause themselves great anguish to strike at the enemies soul and channel their own life into a blow to fell a mighty opponent
>>
>>20149583
Part of the appeal was exactly the way it is just that little inch too far.

This might be a source of in-chapter contention since these rites provide more more while screaming WRONG, WRONG, WRONG at the more "reasonable" chapter members.
>>20149669
They might also use blood as a way to create protective barriers against Dæmons.
>>
*more power
>>
I'm not sure if this was an aspect of Aztec views on the sun, but if I'm not wrong life and rebirth are common aspects of sun worship. So experiencing the pain of a sacrifice in the name of the Holy Emperor could be seen as a purifying ritual rebirth in/under His Holy Light. Thoughts on this as another aspect of potential pain-transference from sacrifices?
>>
These librarians are sounding more and more like rune priests with a cultist side.
>>
>>20149845
As long as they don't decide to make hats out of their allies.

Maybe they use the blood of those they are fighting to protect themselves. They do a ritual that confuses the enemies by using their blood to ritually coat the Aquila and forehead of their helmet
>>
>>20149897
I like the idea of a ritualistic rebirth, either as part of an initiation or a periodic purifying event. Maybe both.
>>
>>20149897
That's part of the librarian training IMO.
I order to harness these powers they must die and be reborn upon the altar with the light of the emperor beating down upon them
>>
>>20149901
We're not at the point were they're calling down totem animals or invoking the power of the sun.
Not yet at least.
>>
>>20149897
So when they sacrifice Chaos and Xenos on their altar, they think they are allowing them to be reincarnated as a human in the light of the Emperor's gaze, which is why they only sacrifice the greatest of their foes, so that way their enemies' greatest warriors can be used against them. It also lends them a tendency to respect their enemy rather than just dismissing them as puny xenos or filthy heretics.
>>
>>20149991
"A hindrance in this life, may you be a boon in the next. Praise be to the Sun-Emperor."
>>
>>20149991
That's a pretty cool idea. I like it.
>>
>>20149991
Uh, well, I'm not entirely sure about the idea of using Psykers to let others go through what a Chaos-worshipper experiences during a sacrifice. Sounds like lots of things could go so wrong with that.

I like this as well. It's thematic and fitting for "misunderstood practices".

Our specialty is Terror Tactics, so would it be appropriate for psykers to feed the enemy the pain and anguish of those around them in order to demoralize?

>>20150102

>>
>>20150102

>>
>>20150262
Make them feel alone and vulnerable. From what I understand of the Black Rage, it makes the victim feel like they are Sanguinius during the Battle of Terra. If the psykers could at least emulate that sensation, it would break down the enemy. Mechanically speaking, it would (potentially) serve to mentally isolate the Ork and sever it's connection to whatever Waagh! it's on. Orks get power from numbers, so separate them in the jungle terrain with tactics and psychic nudges.

Part of why they hate the scraplootas is because their usual tactics don't work though.
So maybe it is less effective against orks thanks to their waaaagh and you need to have a small group of them for it to work in the first place.

Scraplootas are a new enemy. The planet itself has had orks on it for centuries, millenia, as far as I can tell from what's been said.

>>20150619
Yeah. Orks in the jungles. Also, I think it's time for a new thread. We're past bump limit.

>>20150690
Things are pretty slow right now. Not sure we need a new one right yet.

Is this shit archived?

Yeah.

Being chosen to become a Blood Jaguar is not an easy thing, as they look only to the 'secret' fighting pits of the hives, only choosing those that bring themselves from the very bottom to very top to possibly become a part of their ranks.
Things do not get better nor easier once someone has been chosen to be initiated, as then they are only given a simple set of instructions:
Collect a large Mortem Sacco pod
Go to the top of the Temple of Gods and Kings
You may only use what you find and make in the forest

Just did a HUGE bit of writefaggotry on 'The Black Road to the Sun'.
Fuck you 4chan mobile, I almost lost all that shit. Good thing I decided to back it up.

Should I post it in the next thread?

Just post it here, then in the next thread as well.

The jungles of Tenocit are well known for being seemingly actively hostile to anything that could be considered an intruder, making even simply not being killed an arduous task, let alone survival and travel.
While Mortem Succo can be found on nearly every root based plant on the planet, finding one of their toxin pods is near impossible due to the money they are worth. Large pods are rare without them being collected, as well.
Once the hopeful has obtained the Mortem pod, they must travel to and up through the Temple of Gods and Kings, the original hive spiral where the Blood Jaguars fought a warp incursion and the very tower Xipet defeated a daemon prince upon. It is believed to contain horrors beyond imagine and be more dangerous than the terrifying jungle. A hopeful who has not armed them self well would surely die in the temple.
>>
Once they have arrived to the top of the temple, they will see only a single figure standing there, looking away from them, not reacting at all.
The only way to draw their attention is to go in front of them and present the Mortem pod, to which they will start questioning the candidate.
After a while of questioning, the figure will direct them to crack open the tough pod and eat it. Doing so normally causes bad delirium, constipation, then death. Those that do survive have only vague recallings of what happened during their delirium.
Most recall hearing their seeming killer saying "A hindrance in this life. May you be a boon in the next. Praise be to the Sun-Emperor." while seeing and feeling them plunge a dagger into their guts, then feeling their life fade away.

There are rumors that even women will be inducted to this ritual, and they being treated no less than a man in it.

God, that was some good writing time for me.
Decided a LOT of the ideas that were posted here were really good.
It may be way over the top, though.

And I said it's long because it is compared to what I normally write.

I like it! The guy on top of the tower, when you say he's not paying attention do you mean he is like....blank faced slender mode, and it is just a trial to muster the courage to stand in front of him? Thats what my mind saw when I read it.
>>
Yes, exactly!
And having them face away is a test to get them to not just use the obvious. (he can't see me, I'll call to him.)
Basically, after a massive physical, a massive mental test.

Same.

Just for awesomeness, I imagine the first question being "Why do you want to be a Blood Jaguar?"
Possibly with a mid-answer interupt of "You could die."
