Hey people. Anyone willing to discuss the Fate section of the Nasuverse, homebrew Servants or magecraft, and how one would run a Fate game? I see three primary problems

1. POWERLEVELS

2. The Master/Servant dichotomy - who does the Player control? Does the player get to choose his servant, or is it more like in canon, where generally it's a circumstance of relic and legend?

3. The PvP nature of such a game, given the objective is generally 'kill everyone else'

How would you handle those?

In order to keep the thread moving, I'll post my profile for Harun al-Rashid, Caster, and maybe Fionn mac Cumhaill, Lancer.

1. Powerlevels is the biggest issue. You can work around that though.

2. Player having to work for the artifact that they want solves this.

3. Alliances are often formed in Grail Wars. Of course, they're temporary. Just encourage players that want to, to team up. At the same time, encourage backstabbing.

Baron Samedi caster is best caster.
>>
>>19866505
That he is.
>>
>>19866505

I never knew Newton was a Baron, or that his last name was Samedi
>>
>>19866524
Newton is Shit Tier compared to the Baron.
>>
PvP *can* work.

There are four RPGs you can do it with: Dresden Files (with houseruling so Caster doesn't dominate), Mutants and Masterminds, Window and Fate/Only War.

#faterpg on rizon runs a game where PCs are servants and masters, using the Window RPG.

WHRP conversion

You can also BS a reason for why two Masters are working together. 2-3 masters = 4-6 players.

Powerlevels is a matter of how much balance you want and the system.
>>
>>19866555

One of the smartest man ever? Actually real life alchemist? Mathematician, scientist and theologian?

Casters in Nasuverse have some historical possibility of magic. Newton studied the occult even tho he could've been killed for it.

He also change the world on his lifetime. Baron Samedi barely did anything noticeable.
>>
>>19866583

Huh, I thought Baron Samedi was a witchdoctor and not a spirit. I highly doubt Baron Samedi can be summoned as a champion. He reads too divine for this
>>
>>19866609
Nah. What you're summoning is the closest thing to the Baron, a human soul that went by that name and made many contracts with the forces that regulate life and death. He's a scary as fuck Caster, as he really only needs some of your hair to fuck you over.
>>
>>19866609
The suptg archives have finalized version of Samedi.

Similar to summoning angra mainyu you're not supposed to get the real thing, you get the human most like him. However with Samedi that human immediately let's the spirit of the true Samedi 'ride' him, the true spirit is a master of voodoo, sympathetic magic, and the spirit can jump bodies (from servant to master and other such) allowing *stunning* reversals of combat.
>>
>>19866625
>>19866667

I still say Newton would give him a run for his money. I mean, if historical importance gives you legendary status, Newton could be one of the strongest modern mages that ever existed, probably able to get true Magic. I mean, he could've created the philosopher's stone and done true Magic with it.
>>
>>19866702
I'm sorry, but I like the Baron better just for antics and crazy shit.
>>
So, me and my buddy are playing a fate based game soon.
I just learned he is summoning Patient Zero as Rider for this grail war.
two questions:
1. Can i Punch him in the dick for this?
and
2. How the hell can I counter this shit?
Lancer, Rider, Assassin (But only hassassaroni cheese), and Berserker are available.
Any Help?
>>
>>19866753
Best option is GEEK THE FUCKING MAGE. Or punch him in the dick. Or both. Really, Patient Zero was more a thought exercise on HOW dangerous you could get a servant without Ea level Anti-World phantasms.
>>
Caster [Harun al-Rashid]

Strength: D
Endurance: D
Agility: C
Mana: A
Luck: A

Skills -

Revelation - As per Jean D'arc's skill of the same name, Harun al-Rashid lives to his name ["The Rightly Guided"], having an innate sixth sense which guides him to the correct course in pursuit of his goals.

Golden Rule: A+ - Caliph of Baghdad during its richest, wisest period, Harun possesses and can acquire not just incredible worldly wealth but treasures which border on the level of low-ranking Magecraft.

Item Creation: A - Many wondrous treasures are associated with the legends of Harun's Baghdad. Items can be enhanced to perform various supernatural functions in line with his legend - Flying carpets, rings which grant command over spirits, and the like.

Territory Creation: EX - See Bayt al-Hikama
>>
>>19866780
Noble Phantasms -

Bayt al-Hikama: Baghdad's Golden House of Wisdom [Rank EX] -The libraries of Baghdad overflowed in Harun al-Rashid's day, becoming the foremost center of knowledge in the era unrivaled even by the glory of Alexandria. In honor of his endless pursuit of wisdom, the Bayt al-Hikama gathers knowledge eternally - all knowledge which mankind has taken some effort to preserve [written histories, oral legends, data saved to computers] can be accessed through the House of Wisdom. Only information which was never preserved or which was intentionally destroyed or obscured is restricted from Harun while this Noble Phantasm is active. This also acts to allow him to identify Noble Phantasms once witnessed, since Noble Phantasms are expressions of recorded legend - however, it does not allow him to use Magecraft-based Noble Phantasms he does not qualify for, even if he understands the method of their execution, and thus he cannot use things like Prelati's Spellbook or Solomon's Key despite them being recorded in the Bayt. Replacing his Territory Creation, the palatial Bayt al-Hikama acts as a Temple in addition to its other effects.

Scheherazade's Gambit: The Caliph Walks Among His People [Rank C] - To please the Caliph, Scheherazade told him a different tale each night for one thousand and one nights, until he made her his wife. In these tales the Caliph himself plays many roles - tyrant and hero, judge and criminal, and even his own assassin. By assuming an archetypical character role, Harun gains all mundane knowledge necessary to perform that role. While acting out these roles, he is considered to have A-Rank Presence Concealment, hiding his nature as a Servant, though it does not conceal his use of Prana [making it obvious he is, at least, a magus to those able to determine these things]
>>
>>19866778
And wait, Rider is also open? What? OH. BRAINWAVE. To fuck up his summoning, grab El Cid. He'll jump in as a Rider, taking up that slot, preventing Patient Zero from being summoned.
>>
Would WoD work? It already has modern skills in place, and considering you have an E-A(5-level) ranking system much like Vamp Disciplines or Mage Arcana you could do it. Even Noble Phantasms would just have to be houseruled as contested effects or something, easily done in WoD.
>>
>>19866702
Historical importance doesn't affect much, and even if it did, the baron had 400-500+ years or much longer of worship and cultural significance across Africa and southern America (when slaves started being brought over in what the 1600-1700's or so, my American history isnt that great).

He has his own days of worship and the slaves easily adapted their beliefs to accommodate him/his beliefs and christian religion.
>>
>>19866790
Oh yeah, and his Magecraft is EX, since he theoretically has access to all recorded modern Thaumaturgy through Bayt al-Hikama. Acting without its aid, he has a Magecraft of B+ [specialty in commanding spirits and working 'miracles']
>>
>>19866820
WoD is an OK system for this.
>>
>>19866820
World of darkness works very well with some limitations.

who's patient zero
>>
>>19866802

But as the game hasn't started yet, thats actually a valid strategy, thanks.
My only hope is that he doesn't try to summon patient zero as berserker or some shit.

>>19866860

A Servant that could end up causing CG intervention. Yes, he is that fucking broken.

Should also be mentioned that Samedi can bind loa to bodies, and the ghede loa are powerful and pretty nasty. Just below servant level in power with sone above servant level abilities.
>>

>>

It's a Servant, past conceptions can go fuck themselves.
>>
Hooray! My favorite /tg/ thread!

Here's the thing about the Holy Grail War: Its a SHAM.

If you want to run a Grail War rpg, this is the key to keep in mind. Everyone who isn't an Einzbern is a patsy, even the other two families who are "in," on the trick. It's all nothing but a tool for them to recover Heaven's Feel. If you're not comfortable with a PVP backstabbing bloodbath of a game, that's what you need to focus on. It's everyone vs Einzbern, and all the forces they can bring to bear against the other masters.

They've got a mercenary army, they've got monsters dredged up from the darkest pits of the clock tower, they have super humonculi, they have mage killers, whatever it takes to make your game exciting. Have them "cheat," with their Servant to summon a deviant class, like Saver so they have access to a God, or have them alter the Player's Servants so they trigger Alaya's counter-guardians. Have them make an alliance with a Dead Apostle Ancestor so they have to deal with a Vampire/Zombie army on top of the Grail War. Whatever.

Of course, there's an even simpler alternative: Have all the PCs be on a single Servant team, a la Kiritsugu's group in the 4th War.

How to play fate.

1. Use mage the awakening. Eliminate paradox rules, but instead cause magic to cause bashing damage if it uses mana. Have mana regenerate naturally with gnosis per day.

Use summoner rules as well.
Have Servants be retarded strong spirits whom still have human skills and merits.
Use artifact rules for noble phantasms.

Magical crests are gained with legacies, and are grimoires that are tattooed directly into the skin.
Done.

If you want to play tsukihime, use VTM and make a true ancestor bloodline. They Automatically have all the benefits of golconda. Make it a five point merit.

Have the church be a hunter compact, and have Killer clans like Nanaya and Ryougi be slashers.

Any power you aren't sure of making, simply have it as a 5 dot merit. That way you don't have to worry about it being too cheep.
>>
>>19866929
Yeah. Remember: Eizenberns are going to cheat, Makari are going to pull body horror shit, and Toshaka are... gonna be arrogant fucks.
>>
>>19866929
I like both of these ideas; most FATE RPs I've seen were freeform, which led to some bullshitting, and thus I think that a fa/tg/uy run grail war without all the bullshit restrictions like no guns or nobody after 1930 would be cool. Hell, maybe a Grail War that is /only/ after 1930! Timo Hayha fighting Tesla and Edison, forced together by a pact between Masters to take out the White Death, only to both get slaughtered by H.P. Lovecraft the Berserker!

File: 1342225261631.jpg-(96 KB, 1000x563, Fionn.jpg)
96 KB
Wow, it is really hard to find pictures of Fionn despite him having canon appearances in /Zero. Fionn would likely also meet the qualifications of Saber, like Diarmuid.

Lancer [Fionn Mac Cumhaill]

Parameters:
Strength: A+
Endurance: B
Agility: A
Mana: D
Luck: E

Abilities:

Magic Resistance [Rank B] - Fionn bore a cloak which protected him from the flames of the Sidhe and a spear whose poison prevented mental intoxication. So long as he bears his weapon and cloak, he has Rank B Magic Resistance. If summoned as a Saber, this skill increased by one rank.

Bravery [Rank B] - In addition to his resistance to magic, serves as an additional resistance to mental effects which would draw Fionn away from battle, granted by his legendary slaying of a Sidhe king who used a sleeping spell to ravage the hall of the Fianna.

Charisma [Rank B] - Fionn was leader of the Fianna, a group of Celtic knights each worthy of acting as a Heroic Spirit in their own right. Though he never became ruler, his popularity was such that later kings began to fear he would claim the throne by popular demand and made war on the Fianna.

Expert of Many Specializations [Rank A]: Fionn mac Cumhaill was taught many skills by a legendary poet of the leprechauns. When instructed to deliver the a Salmon which had borne witness to all wisdom as a present to his teacher, he accidentally seared a bit of its flesh into his thumb while cooking it. By tasting this flesh, he gains wisdom on any manner of subjects.
>>
>>19867114
Noble Phantasms:

Gae Nimh: The Dun-slaying Barb [Rank B] - Gae Nimh is the legendary spear which Fionn cast to slay the Sidhe which plagued the hall of the Fianna. Each time he cast it, it slayed a faerie of the dun, until their lord swore vengeance on him and assailed him with spells and flame. Placing the poisoned blade against his own face, Fionn breathed its venom and resisted the faerie's spells before slaying him with it. The venom of Gae Nimh is especially potent against mages and fae beings, and dispels illusion and mental influence - a bite from Gae Nimh disrupts any false mental state of a lower rank than B, but only momentarily. This includes effects placed on Fionn, which can be dispelled by simply drawing blood with the head of the spear.

Clochán an Aifir: The Giant's Causeway [Rank A] -
Fionn's strength is legendary, as is his giant stature. The Giant's Causeway is a monument to this strength, a great land-bridge between Ireland and Scotland supposedly formed by his might to challenge a Scottish hero. Fionn can effortlessly move and even throw objects and constructions of earth and stone, including buildings, whole using his A-Rank strength, imbuing them with some of his legend so that even these simple boulders act as D-Rank Noble Phantasms.

This all assumes they want to run a completely canon game or bother learning every obscure/contradicting bit about the Nasuverse.

Mage is one of THEE MOST high-level WoD lines, and it'd completely, utterly fuck over any normal human who wants to be a master. Much, much more than it should.

I'd avoid using any Mage/Wizard focused games in general. It'd just fuck with balance.

Admittedly, I don't know how the balancing suggestions the poster above me made were work and I'm not very experienced in nWoD. I just know that mixed parties don't work.

Maybe use Witch hunter or Sorcerers instead.

The really scary thing is, Gae Nimh as written would even screw with things like Mad Enhancement [unless it's A Rank] or Mental Pollution, which could really fuck up certain Servants, especially any Berserker not running full A-Rank Mad Enhancment [and so far as I remember, only Lu Bu used Rank A and it basically made him a kill-bot without any real skills so I'm guessing most magi stay under B to avoid losing out on other abilities]

Before this thread gets too big I'd like ot chip in:

I WOULDNT FUCKING SET IT IN A FUCKING GRAIL WAR BECAUSE THE NASUVERSE IS SO MUCH BIGGER AND SO MUCH MORE EXPANSIVE THAN A SHITTY GRAIL WAR.

The setting has half bloods, church executors, assassins, magi... hell you could even make a party of minormajor servants who were created by a magus to do his dirty deeds, charlie's angels style (although they wouldn't be heroic spirits).

The setting is so fucking huge and in depth. If you like the Nasuverse but haven't read Tsukihime then you are missing out on the BEST PARTS of the setting.

You people make me sad. And its not just because I'm listening to Johnny Cash.
>>
>>19867298
Yeah, it probably shouldn't affect Class Abilities or he would make Berserkers even crazier than normal. Though the image of a bipolar-ass Berserker flashing in-and-out of Mad Enhancement every time Finn lands a shots hilarious.
>>
>>19867347
Again, if I ran a game in this setting, I'd make it focus on the Executors.
>>
>>19867347
Yeah, well, I LIKE the Grail War.

Admittedly I'm not as big a Nasunard as most, and have to refresh myself on the rules of the setting frequently. But I'm here for the over-the-top artistic interpretation of historical legends, because I am a history nerd.

I'm still trying to come up with appropriate Phantasms for Hannibal. Given how big an impact he made on Roman culture and military strategy, he DEFINITELY qualifies as a Heroic Spirit, but coming up with even one fitting Phantasm is difficult.
>>
>>19867257
A dedicated "fuck you" to berserkers is actually a good use for the spear/phantasm.

There is surprisingly little 'fuck you's' to be had for berserkers. Have it take away Mad enhancements but allow more sanity-utilizing NPs.
>>
>>19867298
The dispelled state has to be lower rank than B, right? I'd say anything the grail can cast has to be way higher ranked than that.
>>
>>19867378
This is also true. Turn off Mad Enhancement, accidentally let Hercules the whole Noble Phantasm at you. It could be risky, though it only gives a few moments of sanity at a time.
>>
PVP: Ancient times when the Magus Association still warred with the Church. Enforcers vs. Executors, arcane vs. divine.

PVE: Dead Apostle hunt. A dead apostle has attacked a small village and is in the process of turning the populace. Moral quandary: A person has witnessed magic being used to put down the apostles. The law is no witnesses. Do you kill him, or wait for an apostle to get him so you can kill him with less guilt?
>>
>>19867393
Worse.
>Berserker Cu
>You are within spear range
>He suddenly can use Gae Bolg
>You are fucked
>>
>>19867378
Take away temporarily (a minute or two each hit, with possible relapses into sanity later, making berserker even harder to control).
>>
>>19867366
Which fits well because Executors never work alone, ever. Only one exception, which I won't go into. And no its not the one from EGO's quest, he's just portraying executors wrong.

Rider - Manfred von Richthofen

Str - D; End - C; Agi - C; Mana - B; Luck - B

Skills: Riding - A+; Independant Action - C

Dicta Boelcke - A; This skill represents a unique method of air combat which Richthofen developed and passed down to all pilots under his command, turning all who use it into cold war machines that can overcome any foe. Combines Eye of the Mind and Charisma.

Battle Continuation - B-; Allows for escape and rejoining of battle from an advantageous direction despite moderate wounds. A safe landing is possible regardless of damage. However, overuse of this skill may lead to target fixation.

Noble Phantasm:

Red Baron (The Red Battle Flyer) - B, Anti-Unit; This aircraft was a symbol of hope and victory to all Germans during the Great War. While its speed is inferior to many other mounts, its agility in the hands of its pilot is second to none, seeming to bend the laws of reality themselves in its ability to avoid attacks and pursue enemies. It's guns are not normal firearms, each bullet carrying the deadly mantra the Baron drilled into every pilot under his command: "Aim for the man and don't miss him." Every shot is unerring in accuracy and power, on par with an Archer-class over short distances. The perfect weapon for duels and dogfights.

Jagdgeschwader 1 (The Flying Circus) - A+, Anti-Army: The true legacy of the Red Baron, as an instructor. By simply touching a normal human, he can fill their heart with the spirit of the Fatherland and enlist them into his elite squadron. His mana conjures an C-Rank NP Aircraft for them to use, and he transfers a lifetime of skill and fighting prowess to them, making even the most average human an ace-of-aces. The size of his squadron is limited only to how many mounts he can create for them. United by his leadership and inspired by the Baron's prowess, this group of unremarkable normal people can overwhelm even servants.
>>
>>19867428
Enforcers also work in groups.
Another interesting concept would be a group of sealing designates bonding together for mutual protection. After all, not all sealing designates are complete monsters, some just have magical abilities or bloodlines the Association wants to dissect them to find out about.
>>
>>19867419
Yeah, because what you need is a Berserker who every now and again actually knows what the fuck he's doing and is still FUCKING PISSED ALL THE TIME FUCK

Don't let Finn anywhere near your Berserker unless you're ready to burn Command Spells like a motherfucker.
>>
>>19867491
Actually, having your berserker lose mad enhancement is a double edged sword for some heroes. In some cases, it gives them abilities they otherwise wouldn't have for short amounts of time. In other cases, it nerfs them to a point where they can't do shit.

>>19867347

I am going to agree with you.

However, what I would do is a combination of the Nasuverse and the WoD universe. Having mages and vampires and werewolves and hunters and all of the cool things of WoD with a lot of the flavor of the Nasuverse, with one big exception.

I fucking hate the origin of the Vampires. Nature spirits? Fuck that shit. I like my vampires as Cainites. Cursed bloodsucking demons doomed to wait for their father to kill them all in a grandiose orgy of wanton destruction.

Nature spirits? Why don't they also sparkle and perhaps impregnate teen girls too?
>>

Now, we understand that Nasuverse has a diverse setting, filled with True Ancestors, Dead Apostles, and ORT, but honestly, most of us really don't care.
We just want to see El Cid duking it out with Miyamoto Musashi, because Baron Samedi manipulated them both into fighting, all with ridiculous power levels.
Yes, the setting is nice, but honestly, most of us just want the above. Is that to much to ask? If the wider setting manages to work its way in, thats great. Hell, thats fantastic, the above only for a truce to be called because the church is offering a huge 2 command spell bounty for the corpse of a true ancestor found in the town would be sweet.
But honestly, we already know about the wider setting, and if we wanted to use it, we would. Please don't shove it in our face.

You don't know much of vampires in the Nasuverse if you say they're "nature spirits". Most of them are nothing of the sort. In fact there is only one true "nature spirit" vampire left.

Even if you count the victims of those nature spirits, most of the DAA's have little to do with the previously mentioned nature spirits. So from those examples we can assume that the additional DA's are of the same caliber.

But the true ancestors of Nasuverse vampires are nature spirits. The true ancestor of WoD is fucking God-Cursed Cain.

It doesn't make Vampires of Nasuverse less shitty than Edward Cullen.

Okay so.

Got Fionn and Harun, but that leaves me five classes to fill.

Any ideas I could read up on for other classes that you'd want to see write-ups for? I'm partial to Hannibal Barca as Rider, but having trouble thinking of Phantasms for him.

I mean, I guess they're technically nature spirits. But they're also psychotic, genocidal aliens spawned by the sentient soul of the moon for the express purpose of exterminating humanity because they're a potential threat to the entire universe.

Swamp Thing is a nature spirit too dog. Labels are just labels.

Hardcore motherfucker who kicked in Moor shit all day every day, is the national hero of Spain, and has decendents in the nobility of Spain and Portugal today. Also had two bitching swords.

There's also only one of these "nature spirits" left.

I honestly think one of the better ways to run grail war would be have two players play servants and two players play masters (with maybe another servant + master combo if playgroup is big enough) and then put the rest of the story in the dms hands.

I'd still recommend running it in modified wod.

Last time people said Angels were a possibility. As I can't make Divine horrors here are some blueprints.

Azazel the Sinbearer (Rider)
A soft faced bloke, sheepish and with deep dark eyes.
Strength D
Endurance C
Agility B
Mana C
Luck E

Divinity B
Demonic B - Reality is weak near Azazel, facilitating his prime form of attack.
Disengage B - Azazel will not be truly trapped through mundane means, and can escape mid-level Thaumaturgy.

Legion, none without sin
The sins in Azazel infect other living beings in the area. In collusion with its will, they will silently seek to support him by providing information, support or combat aid. The pasage of time will slowly corrupt these victims into low level Spirits, who serve as a focus for Azazel. It may hide inside their bodies and redirect any attack against him to one of them through the sins they share.

Scapegoat, cursed to exile
Azazel's main form of attack is reliant on its ability to move sins into multiple bodies, although the force is dependent on range. Visible as a warm of small, black pests, the sins degrade the connection of someone to their spiritual qualities. Magic Circuits clog and twist, Noble Phantasms weaken as the hero is corrupted, and the mind strains under the stress of guilt and desires.

And that tried and true plot of "Gaia the spiteful" is cool and all, but it really fucks with the modern western idea of a Vampire (read, mine).

Dumah the Solemn (Archer, Berserker)
A well built man, his eyes blindfolded and his mouth sewn shut.
Strength C
Endurance B
Agility A
Mana E
Luck C

Divinity A
Clairvoyance C - The blindfold means nothing to Dumah, who can "see" things just fine beyond human capabilities.
Discernment A - Dumah cannot be deceived. A skill from his role at casting souls to Heaven or Hell.

Sling of Judgement
The sling that casts souls into Hell. It can be used to cast forth demons as far as the eye can discern a target, distorting reality and corrupting the Prana around them. The "shot" can be tailored to actually summon great fiends and haunting spirits, but the expense of Prana grows with the power sought to call forth. Should Dumah hold enough energy to take his thousand-eyed form, he may use it without limits on obstacles or field of vision.

Execution, tool of punishment
A bright whip made in flaming lead. A divine weapon meant to administer violent punishment for sins. Thus, avoiding the whip is as dependent on the target's Luck and Divine favor as is on his skills. Dumah uses the whip in a savage, almost sadistic manner, seeking to end all Servants, who should remain dead by natural law.

Robin Hood as Archer. (There's about 50 of them in the Nasuverse. Go nuts.)
WIlliam Tell as Archer
Beowulf as Saber. (Already statted)

Wolf the Quarrelsome as Berserker or Saber.

Israfel of the Trumpet (Caster)
A tall middle eastern man, with an agreeable mien and confident persona.
Strength E
Endurance C
Agility C
Mana A
Luck B

Divinity A
High Speed Divine Words B
Magecraft B

Trumpet of Announcement, the note of Awe
A deep note of the trumpet halts the evolutions of the world as far as it is heard, including the Master-Servant transfer of Prana. All Magecraft becomes impossible as the laws of nature stop responding, and Noble Phantasms are weakened one Rank. In this dead zone, Servants are liable to disappear if they use up their reserves too quickly.

Trumpet of Calling, the note of Rapture
A soft, clear note resonates with the land, producing an artificial leyline that provides a weak link to Heaven. In this sacred ground Magecraft (both in power and knowledge) is enhanced. As a side effect Israfel can don its flying four-winged form, with both its Mana and Luck jumping to A+ Rank.

These games always seem to start during the summoning phase. It'd be interesting to see a campaign focusing on the long buildup - stealing an artifact, learning the summoning spells, vying for a position in the war as a master. Let people get a bit more grounded in the universe before OH SHIT SWORDS.
>>
>>19867752
WHAT I'M SAYING IS THAT THEY AREN'T VAMPIRES, BUT THE CAUSE OF VAMPIRISM GODFUCKINGDAMNIT. There aren't even any around anymore as of most of Tsukihimes ends. Also, they never were Nature Spirits in the first place, with one single exception, the one fucking TA who actualy IS linked to Gaia.
>>
>>19867809
That would be how I'd run a game like this. You'd have to fucking WORK for your artifact, or chance a random summoning.
>>
>>19867809
>learning the summoning spells
You do realize that none exist right? You don't even have to initiate a ritual or gather an artifact. All you need is for the grail to choose you as a master and you WILL participate in the grail war unless you willfully remove the command seals.

If you get command seals and get chosen. You WILL get a servant. You WILL summon a servant. You WILL be counted as a participant and you WILL be killed by the rival magi as long as you still carry the seals.

>>
>>19867850

Wait, then what did everyone do in that first episode of Fate/Zero? Kariya and Emiya were both clearly seen doing summong rituals.

Even if they're not strictly necessary, maybe finding a good summoning ritual ensures a stronger servant than a more slapdash one for the purpose of the game, to motivate the players.
>>
>>19867850
Thing is, you have to compete with other mages to be chosen. And some of them might be a better master than you. So you cheat. You make sure you have a concrete fucking wish. You make sure you get the best damn artifact you can. And then you just hope for the best.

And don't forget, you CAN steal command spells. Mind you, it isn't easy, but you CAN do it.

>>
>>19867871
Again. They never were Nature Spirits, just made by a Creator who happened to have slightly nature-y thematics. I'm not calling Cain a Being of Light or an Angel, just because that's what associated with his Creator, either. Of all the 26 most powerful vampires, a bunch of them propably having their own Clans, only one, Roa, was sired by a "corrupted Nature spirit".
>>
>>19867854
Thing is, random servant summoning CAN suck for you. You can get shafted and get a spirit in a class you don't want to get, or a spirit that hates your guts. Note that if you want a Berserker, you can get a Berserker really fucking easily by modifying the summoning ritual, but you can't do it for any other class.

Plus, artifacts give players a reason to work for something. They want their Cu Chulainn Berserker or Caster or Lancer? Guess what? You'd better fucking plot how your going to steal a priceless historical artifact from someone. Or how much it might cost.
>>
>>19867891
The rituals seem to help guide the Throne of Heroes in selecting your servant, along with your chosen artifact. And from Kariya's, it seems there is a special set of lines which ensures the summoning of a Berserker servant with Mad Enhancement, though I don't know if that's true for other classes [it doesn't seem to be - Tokiomi seemed both surprised and dismayed that Gilgamesh manifested as an Archer with Independent Action since it meant he would be harder to command]
>>
>>19867891
They do the rituals because of a lot of things.

1. Most masters assume you have to do a ritual, although this was never the case. The system is completely automatic and will continue until it is shut down.
2. Artifacts and proper summoning rituals (which are taught to all magi with actual training) help control the servant you get. Without giving a ritual with an artifact you will be getting a random hero that fits your personality rather than one of your choosing. It would also be pretty embarassing to admit to the magi community that you didn't use one because they will assume you couldn't afford an artifact (hello Rin Tohsaka).
3. Its tradition to do it. And Magi fucking love traditions.
>>
>>19867901
Funny. Just before you said that I was saying the same thing as you. By your own logic you were wrong too.
>>
>>19867899
>Thing is, you have to compete with other mages to be chosen.
Nnnnnnnnnnnope. The grail chooses on its own. There is no competition. There is no way to guarantee you will be chosen (unless you can directly interfere with the grail ritual).
>>
>>19867945
This happened to Ryuunosuke. Since he technically had no idea what the fuck he was doing, he got Gilles as a Caster, a class he was incredibly unsuited for as a former knight, which is why he's so incredibly dependent on Prelati's Spellbook.

Your bog standard summoning, you don't get to choose the class. You might get to choose the hero, but not the class. Unless you want a Berserker. THEN you can rig the ritual to summon one for you. You need power in your grail war because you aren't the best mage or don't have a good artifact? You rig the game, and get Berserker.

POWERLEVELS ARE BULLSHIT. Nasu creates these stratified levels of power to subvert them in a ludicrous fashion.

>>
>>19868005
The grail has to choose one Makiri, one Tohsaka and one Einzbern. That's hard-coded into the system.

Of course that's unless there are no Makiri, Tohsaka or Einzbern. Then the grail will just choose whatever it wants instead. Those 3 families just have priority.
>>
You know, you really don't have to keep the war as is. If you wanted, you could do the video game thing and have, what was it? 128 master/servant pairs?

Insane, INSANE natural parameters.

Hercules and Lancelot are both so absurdly over-the-top in parameters that skill is practically meaningless against them. Shirou even comments about how, despite being maddened and techniqueless, Hercules's absurd A-or-better parameters in EVERYTHING allow him to pretty much steamroll most normal Servants. And he does, generally going down only to bullshit or one-shot abilities which are equally prana-costly. Lancelot's abilities with Arondight are so high he probably would've killed Saber [easily in the top 3 of Heroic Spirits] if not for Kariya's body finally giving out on him.

We should all try to keep in mind, this is in response to a hypothetical comment for a homebrew. We can throw out or alter a few details here and there to create a more immersive tabletop game.

Why you'd do it of your own free will? A lot of reasons. You're desprate, you suck as a mage, you don't have a catalyst to summon a Servant, you hope that you can overpower the other Masters through sheer strength, etc. Remember, the Grail War is rigged. Any class outside of the Three Knightly ones, is likely to be overpowered. Berserker is a trap, but a tempting trap that has the potential to turn into something that isn't a trap.
>>19868007

The Grail selects mages that have a reason to seek the grail, something that they want from it. Family has little to do with it - the fact is, the families KNOW about the grail, and want it - so they get it more often.
>>
>>19868043
>but the lore checks required to do it practically require you to be an einzburn or someone with similar magical nature
Einzbern*

Also you mean Makiri, since they were the ones that created the servant system. Einzbern created the rest of the system (like the actual grail) and Tohsaka provided the proving land (they owned the most usable place since there is a leyline going through Fuyuki city and almost all other leylines in the world are taken by the curch or other organisations.)
>>
>>19868207
He'd renounced the Matou crest, so no, he wouldn't have been selected. Sakura probably wouldn't have either [being too young at the time] but would've been selected for the Fifth and tortured in preparation for the Crest. Kariya went into the worm pit because it was necessary for Zouken to give him the Crest, allowing him to participate in the Fourth War, his condition being that if he won and got Zouken what he wanted, Zouken would return Sakura to her family [and presumably use Shinji as crest-bearer instead despite his extremely shitty potential]

Otherwise it probably would've picked Byakuya as the Makiri for the Fourth War, who would've died in like, the first day.

The Grail War and the Summoning process can work however you want it to work, because the Grail War is fictional. If you want to stick to the rules of Nasu, then that's fine. If you just want to use it as an excuse to get Blackbeard and Billy the Kid to fight one another, that is also fine.

People trying to figure out the exact specifics of the HGW ritual are retarded. Nasu plays faster and looser with his rules than anyone. It's fucking magic. The ritual works because it is fated to. Magic makes it works. Stop squabbling over the specifics.
>>
>>19868207
Dunno. The Grail System still seems to care about the familys preferences. Just look at how Acht or Irisviel didn't get picked, but their representative from the outside did.
>>
>>19868207
>>19868223
The grail guarantees the most useable member (holder) of the current family magic of the three families gets chosen. If Kariya hadn't jumped into the worm pit Sakura would have been the most useable member of the Makiri "family" even though she is not blood related because she would be the only wielder of the Makiri magic with useable magic circuits.

The more you know~
>>
>>19868234
Grail HAS to pick a Makiri magus if there is one that has useable circuits. it doesn't give a fuck about age.

>>19867347
We get it you prefer Tsukihime, we've seen similar posts about this before. Some people just like the idea of the Grail War and may not even give a shit about Nasuverse.

>>19867419
The thing with turning it off is, if you look at the 'template' stats for a Berserker, they have comparably shitty stats.

There really isn't a big issue with changing the setting (or ripping out the HGW from the setting and putting it anywhere else) or having PCs be Masters AND Servants. Masters can still go after the other Master or provide Prana for their Servant.
>>
>>19868256

Sakura wouldn't have been picked. Zouken as much as says that he's pretty much planning for Byakuya to forfeit the Fourth and just rape an heir out of Sakura thanks to her absurd number of circuits on the assumption that sixty years from now, he'll have a decent heir to give the Crest to for the Fifth.
>>
>>19868234
The entire point of the Kariya segment was so he could TAKE HER PLACE in the fourth war and prevent her from ever becoming a Makiri magus overall.

As >>19868171 said, the 3 families are always picked.
>>
>>19868288
Zouken says he's PLANNING TO LOSE THE FOURTH WAR OR NOT PARTICIPATE, and that Sakura is explicitly there so that the Matou can win the FIFTH WAR. Sakura is intended for the Fifth War, why would he risk her life in the Fourth? Also, she's not technically a Matou magus yet - she doesn't have the crest or know any of their magecraft, she's just been dunked in the worm-pit. Kariya's plan was to win the Fourth so that Zouken wouldn't need Sakura or her [almost undoubtedly produced by rape] heir to enter the Fifth.
>>
>>19868282
At that point in time Sakura wasn't even a real Makiri magus yet. She'd had like a few days in the worm pit to realign her being to become a Makiri rather than a Tohsaka.

>why would he risk her life in the Fourth?
Most likely he wouldn't. But he can't do shit if she gets chosen other than to hand the command seals in to the church, thus stopping her from ever summoning a servant and preventing her participation in the fourth.

Thus she would be in the fifth war unless there was a better candidate at the time.

Its like I really have to think for every single one of you.
>>
>>19868320
>Or it would have picked Zouken.
I'd pay to see him torn between being scared to die during the War and paying any price to finaly get true immortality.
>>
>>19868342
And why would she be chosen? She's not a Makiri yet. She doesn't have the crest [Presumably Zouken or Byakuya do], and she's only spent a couple days in the worm pit. Kariya explicitly says that if he wins the Fourth, Sakura gets to stay out of the Fifth and is returned to the Tohsaka. He's not taking her place, he's trying to preempt her ever being chosen in the first place by winning the Fourth, which Zouken has given up on because his own heirs suck balls.
>>
>>19868342
It's like you're making up completely unsubstantiated shit and trying to pass it off as canon.
>>
>>19868361
>Zouken
>dying
Choose one.
>>
>>19868319
Note that that is what I was getting at. She wouldn't have been picked ANYWAY. Zouken would have had a better chance, or Byakuya of being picked, as ACTUAL MAKARI LINEAGE MAGI. Saying that Sakura would have been picked due to her strength as a mage is utter bullshit.
>>
>>19868363
>And why would she be chosen? She's not a Makiri yet.
Because if her training had continued she would have been a Makiri. Just like Kariya was turned into a Makiri magus, although Zouken would guaranteed have used other methods for training. You could already see she was already almost a Makiri because her hair had changed colour. That's why her hair colour is so substantial to Kariya on their first meeting after she gets adopted.

she is the closest one to having the crest other than zouken (before Kariya comes along) because she is getting raped by worms. No one else has it, because they have not been worm raped/eaten.

Mordred - Lancer, Saber or Berserker

Str - A; End - A; Agi - B; Mana - A; Luck - D

Skills: Riding - C, Magic Resistance - B-, [Mad Enhancement - D - Intense hatred and irrationality born from neglect, selfishness and a naive world view. Can lead to wild, unpredictable and self-destructive acts]

Instinct - B-: Born from the blood of the King of Knights, Mordred possesses much of her natural battlefield prowess and skill. However, his imperfect Homunculus body and natural temper hampers his senses to a degree.

Idealism - B; An artificial lifeform with a childlike naivety, Mordred sees the world much like a storybook, with absolute ideals of good and evil, right and wrong, and just rewards. This skill provides protection from mental interference, but if overwhelmed by a superior ability can leave him doubly vulnerable to effects. Stacks with Magic Resistance for resisting Command Spells.

Charisma - C: Mordred posses a certain low cunning that makes him a capable manipulator of emotions. It makes him popular with those who have weak personalities, insecurities or personal grievances he can easily exploit. This makes him popular and well-liked by most everyone, but is not a skill fit for a ruler.

Noble Phantasm:

Clarent (The Coward’s Blade) – A, Anti-Army; An enchanted sword whose power was said to be of a kind with Caliburn. Forged by his own mother, the enchantress Morgan le Fey, using her own imperfect knowledge of the magic of the Fairies of Avalon, as much a shadow of Exalibur as Mordred himself was of Arturia. A copy born from copied spells, it lacks Excalibur's power. However, it has the power to ignore any manner of shield, armor or other passive defense if the attack is made head-on, a gross mockery of Chivalry.

Coron Artur (The Capacity to be King) – B, Anti-Army; The Crown of Camelot, as much a symbol of the rulership of Britain as the Holy Sword. Mordred seized this treasure while his father was on a military expedition, declaring himself rightful king. If worn upon the head, the crown fills all who gaze upon it with sensations of awe as the dream of Camelot overwhelms their hearts. Reduces the will to fight and the offensive statistics of any opponent who raises a weapon to the wearer. Has a small chance to negate the activation of a Noble Phantasm once per battle.

Rhongomiant (The Adder of Camlann) – C+, Anti-Personnel; One of the weapons of King Arthur, this spear took Mordred’s life even as he struck Arthur down at the Battle of Camlann. A weapon of infinite bloodthirst and power, it was said that to be controlled it had to be bathed in virulent poison. When it is first used, the spear will corrode any metal or flesh that it touches instantly, and kill normal humans even without breaking the skin. Every minute the battle continues, the poison weakens, and the spear’s power increases one-half rank. When fully awakened, a single blow could level a mountain.

*pops in*
And here I was about to create another thread when this one is going strong. Anyway to answer those questions.

>1. POWERLEVELS
Two possibilities, one is make sure there are no PC magi strong enough to summon a servant full power (Which is bullshit) or simply keep from allowing summons from the Fate/Series, and have players create their own servants based off of history with a set number of points to build and GM approved NPs

>2. The Master/Servant dichotomy
Ehh, this ones a little harder. Either keep total number of players to 7, each controlling their Magus and Servant, or randomize who gets who and take catalysts out of the equation, its not the best solution but its the best one I got.

>3. The PvP nature of such a game
Use a maptool or something similar to keep players away from each other, or divided by multiple maps/ fog of war, and perhaps set up ways of contact and information gathering for Masters to gain information and contact one another? Plus it may be smart for the GM to have a servant if possible to stir things up Ex: Ilya with BAHSAHKAH, or Kotomine with Lancer.

On that note (hah), I actually know of a Grail War being hosted using the Nasuverse RPG system using maptool and Skype if you're interested. I think there's still 4 spots open, 2 masters and 2 servants, or something similar (I'm not the GM, just participating) and it would be good if we can get this started soon.

Stone Cold Steve Austin
>Class: Berserker
>Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
>Strength: A+
>Endurance: A
>Agility: C
>Mana: E
>Luck: C

Ability: The Texas Rattlesnake
Stone Cold is a master of attacking when his opponents least expect it. Stone Cold's first attack after using Shatter Shard deals double damage.

Noble Phantasm

Shatter Shard (Personal, Rank A+)

Stone Cold Steve Austin is more than just a man; he is a force of nature, inscrutable in his actions and with no moral compass but his own. Should Austin wish to do so, he may make a Strength check against a target's Luck check to break into a close reality marble. This action, if successful, allows Austin to appear within the marble and move freely for a limited amount of time without interference from the marble's owner. In addition, a successful use of Shatter Shard results in a loud sound similar to hundreds of window panes being broken at the same time.

>>
>Solomon the Wise (Caster)
>Alignment: Lawful Evil (Originally Lawful Good)
>Strength: D
>Endurance: D
>Agility: C
>Mana: A
>Noble Phantasm: EX
>Luck: A

Skills:

High-Speed Divine Words (A): Thanks to a divine blessing, Caster may cast any spell he knows within the time-span of a single turn. He also knows the true language of angels and Yahweh, increasing magical potency.
Thaumaturgy (A): Caster can cast nearly any spell known to mankind, and knows several that have been lost to the ages.
Territory Creation (A): Caster can create a "Temple", a more effective version of a Workshop, form which his magical potency is increased, and he gains a moderate resistance to outside mana and prana sources. Originally a place of cleansing, Solomon's Corruption now allows him to build in both holy and unholy locations (churches and bloody battlefields, etc.)
>>
>>19869013

Noble Phantasms:

>Decree I: Swords to Plowshares (Rank C, Anti-Army)
With a single awesome command, Caster curses all mundane weapons within a 2-mile radius to crumble into dust, neutralizing enemy forces. This curse does not affect 'possible' weapons (Axes, Swords, guns, tanks, etc. are wrecked, but shattered bottles and bats are unscathed, for example), nor does it affect Noble Phantasms.

>Demon-Controlling Artifact: Ring of Solomon (Rank A, Anti-Group)
A golden ring which rests upon Caster's left hand has a blood-red gemstone set within it. This stone is actually a Marble Phantasm containing 300 various spirits, djinni, and demons, all of which answer to his beck and call with total loyalty. These demons may only be summoned up to 10 at a time, but have such abilities as wielding fearsome blades (Treat as a Rank D Noble Phantasm) and possessing the corpses of those slain by violence.

>Decree II: The Balancing of the Scales (Rank EX, Anti-Unit)
A Noble Phantasm that is Yahweh's original gift to Caster, now corrupted in to pure, unbridled greed. When activated, the stats of a single opposing Servant and his own are balanced in a redistribution of "equality". If, on the other hand, the Servant was a follower of Caster's God, be it Yahweh, Jehovah, Allah, etc., Caster instead receives the highest attribute stats of both Servants, while his opponent is left with the worst of the stats. This effect is permanent until Caster himself dispels it.

Morgan le Fey - Caster; Str - D; End - C; Agi - D; Mana - A+; Luck - B

Skills: Territory Creation - B, Item Construction - B, Pressence Concealment - C

Fairy Letters (false) - Known as the "Daughter of the King of the Isle of Apples," Morgan is a descendant of the a mix-breeding between mortals and the Fairies of Avalon. As such, she has an imperfect knowledge of fairy spellcraft, allowing her to cast high-level thaumatergy spells far more easily, and drastically enhance mundane and magical creations by inscribing them with the fae language.

Noble Phantasms:

The Green Knight (The Test of Green Chapel) - B+, Anti-Personnel; This spell conjures a wraith, or enchants a living human, to take on the image of a perfect knight, garbed in green armor. Grants two lesser Noble Phantasms as well as a large stat boost: An axe which will sever any limb in a single blow, and a Holly Branch which grants limited immortality and allows any wound taken while grasping it to be instantly healed if the flesh is pressed back together. The Green Knight is not a warrior of victory, but a warrior of challenge, and will match an opponent's skills blow for blow, and strain their ideals to the breaking point, but can never deliver a final attack.

The Castle of Maidens (Apple of Avalon) - EX, Anti-Army; A unique spell granted to her via the power of her Fairy blood, highly similar to a Marble Phantasm. Conjures the image of a den of absolute pleasure and contentment, protected behind impregnable walls. Within, the visions of perfect maidens will cater to every whim of an enemy, clouding their mind and leaving them virtually helpless to Morgan's feminine wiles. Within the phantasm, her ability to seduce and control raises to almost absolute levels. Here even the King of Knights was not beyond her charms.

So after showing my friend Fate/Zero this summer he became obsessed with it and bugged me to run a Fate roleplay.

So for the last few weeks I've been planning the shit out of this thing and here is how it is going to work.

The system is nWoD. Mage was similar to Nasuverse so transposing it was somewhat easy. From there designing spells was the hard part. I used the color idea from Magic the Gathering and had each Arcana focus on a different theme (Time messes with turns, Spirit messes with willpower etc).

For the roleplay aspect there is a team dynamic between the GM and the player. The GM controls the Servant with heavy input on how the Servant should act and NP's and other such things. If the GM feels that the Servant would act differently than what the Master has in mind then they do.

For designing Servants they are just about twice as busted as Masters and deal a lot more damage. Servants all have celerity so they can attack and dodge in a single turn.

For PvP the players can and honestly might/probably kill each other. If it happens then it happens, but resources (mana) are extremely limited so killing without a plan should be very difficult.

I'm taking a story twist once three Masters have died so the players don't HAVE to kill each other. Its a bit of a cop out but it seems like the best way to do it.

A bit hesitant to tell you guys the Servants because I'm not sure if my players browse /tg/ a ton.

I know this is a joke, but Wild Stallion would be a stupidly broken servant. E in every stat but luck, sure, but I can only imagine they're Noble Phantasms would be that trick where they set things up in the past so they can win and the ability to bring other Heroic Spirits to bare.

*Shrug* Considering the entire thing was Morgan's idea, and that the Green Knight obviously did some supernatural shit, what with his head getting chopped off, I figured it being something she could turn anyone into made sense, especially going with the theme that she was part-fairy and thus could make Noble Phantasms to go with the imprint.

Not all and there are interesting possibilities to put them in other classes, most certainly qualify for berserker aside from certain ones like Rey mysterio.

Kane, Mankind, and ultimate warrior certainly fit berserker. Kane, undertaker and mankind fit caster too. Undertaker and sting definitely fit rider. Goldberg and The Rock really only fit saber (as far as wrestling goes). It's entertaining to think of, if not particularly accurate.

Stone Cold Steve Austin
>Class: Archer

>Austin 3:16 (Personal, Rank B++)

You sit there, and you thump your spellbook and cast your spells and it didn't get you anywhere! Talk about your prana, talk about your John 3:16... Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass! For a limited time after defeating a master or servant, Austin cannot be affected by the abilities of masters or servants with a lesser rank than Austin 3:16

It is intended as such. Mimicking Nasu's style of IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT immediately followed by IT'S BEING BEAT is not something many of /tg/'s Servants manage.

For reference, I've been keeping a list of the Servants that have come up in the threads I've seen so far (six threads, including this one). The list just covers the names and classes (and provides links to the archives of the threads in question). I'll start the list in my next post.

Legend:
*xxx* means the character should be too recent to be a usable Servant. Then again, the Throne of Heroes is supposed to defy the flow of time. And both Jack the Ripper and Frankenstein's Monster should fall in the <200 years zone, so the importance of this rule can be debated.
**xxx** means the character is both a fictional one, and would make no sense existing in the Nasuverse despite it being a universe where many myths were real. Servants based on classical literature characters won't be marked such, given that beings such as Frankenstein's Monster evidently actually existed in the Nasuverse.

*Jackie Chan* (*Class Indeterminate. Lancer?*)
Ivan IV Vasilyevich/Ivan the Terrible (Berserker)
**Guts** (Saber/Berserker)
*The Driver/The Stig* (Rider)
Samson (Berserker) - I would still modify him to reflect the breaking of all three Nazarite vows, instead of just the last (his hair being cut).

Richard the Lionheart (Saber)
Patient Zero/The Plague (Rider)
*Steve Jobs* (Caster)
Baron Samedi - Revision (Caster)
*Isaac Newton* (Caster)
Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar/El Cid (Rider)
Morgan Le Fay (Caster)
George Washington (Saber)
Arjuna - Revision (Archer)
Perseus (Rider) - Incidentally, the NPs are a bit off. Head of Medusa wasn't an NP, but the bag he carried it in was. The Shield did not reflect Mystic Eyes; it allowed one to perceive one's entire surroundings by looking into its surface. Perseus turned Medusa's gaze against herself by entering and using the bag, which inverts 'what is inside' and 'what is outside', causing Medusa to gaze into her own eyes.
Julie D'Aubigny/La Maupin (Saber) - I kinda liked the ability for her to be a 'pseudo-Caster' on top of being a Saber.
*Carl Jung* (Caster)
**Altair** (Assassin) - Given the Nasuverse's description of how the Zabaniya techniques work (they involve body modification, except for Hundred-Faced Hassan's Delusional Illusion), the Apple of Eden shouldn't count as a Zabaniya. The Hidden Blade is a stretch, but I suppose it could count.
Achilles (Berserker/Rider) - The start of a sheet, but no further development.
The Myrmidons (Assassin) - The start of a sheet, but no further development.
>>
>>19869715
Both Jack and Frankenstein's Monster were characters from F/A, which is of dubious relevance to the normal Fate universe. I wouldn't consider them too much when debating what does and doesn't make sense.

Thanks for the compilation, though.

I'm giggling myself insane imagining someone summoning Mankind as their berserker in an otherwise normal grail war.

"why does berserker have a sock with a happy-face on his hand?" "I don't know but it scares me" "his master says he sometimes mumbles shit at it that resembles speech. Then he giggles to himself uncontrollably." "That is fucking terrifying."

Then he gets into a fight and actually uses the hand sock to kill another servant.

*Paul Bunyan* (Saber/Rider/Berserker) - Only marked with one star because despite being a fictional character, he could possibly have existed in the Nasuverse. However, his legend is still in the <200 years zone.
Baba Yaga the Bone Leg (Caster)
**Mario** (Rider) - There is a LOT more that could potentially be done with Mario. Also, the name isn't "Mario Mario". Officially, the name "The Mario Bros." just comes from Mario being the more signature brother of the team.
*Nikola Tesla* (Caster)
Genghis Khan Temujin (Rider)
Harun al-Rashid/Aaron the Rightly Guided (Caster)
Atilla the Hun (Berserker)
*The Organization* (Assassin) - This one is odd. I'll list it under the 'recent' section, but it might count as a 'glitch in the system' Servant.
*Anonymous* (Assassin) - A basic idea, but no development.
Lilith (Caster) - I'm still amused by my suggestion for Lilith as a Servant resulting in this. Amused, and somewhere between disturbed and a little aroused.
Maximilien Robespierre (Berserker)
Sanada Yukimura - Revision? (Lancer)
*To be continued - this thread's list is too long*

**Dante** (Saber) - I'd figure if you choose the right weapons, he could qualify as a bunch of other classes too.
**DWN-∞: Zero** (Saber/Berserker) - If I recall correctly, 'Doctor Wily Number - Infinity' is Zero's production code. I think this one may need some further modification if it were to be used. Though personally, I probably would have based a Servant Zero on him during the Megaman Zero games.
**The Nameless One** (*Any Class*)
**Asura** (Berserker) - This one is ridiculous, but that's sort of Asura's thing, isn't it? I haven't seen all of Asura's Wrath played through, but I could probably adjust the stats and NPs a bit if I took some time.

Daedalus (Caster)
Shimon Bar Kokhba (Rider)
Hassan-i-Sabbah (Assassin) - Zabaniya: Song of the End of Days. I really like this Zabaniya.
Houyi (Archer) - I like this one a lot, though I wish the grammar was cleared up a bit. It seems that The Tenth Arrow temporarily rips apart the rules of a World, much like Enuma Elish does.
Diomedes - Alternate Sheet (Lancer)
Yamato Takeru (Saber)
*Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Edward Hyde* (Berserker) - I suppose he qualifies for existence under the same qualifier that permits Frankenstein's Monster to have possibly existed in the Nasuverse.
Jack the Hero (*Any Class*) - Another glitch? Something like Nursery Rhyme from Fate/Extra? And I'm still guessing this isn't same Jack who became Jack o' the Lantern, is it?

Thread 5 (http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/19734014)
Mordred (Saber/Lancer/Berserker) - I really like this one.
Captain Ahab (Rider/Berserker) - A very barebones concept, with no further development.
Orpheus (Caster/Berserker/Rider) - Barebones concept. Have worked on it a bit since, but is still incomplete.

Thread 6 (http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/19866430)
Harun al-Rashid (Caster)
Fionn Mac Cumhaill (Lancer)
Manfred von Richthofen - Revision? (Rider)

Israfel of the Trumpet (Caster)
Mordred - Revision (Saber/Lancer/Berserker)
*"Stone Cold" Steve Austin* (Berserker)
Solomon the Wise (Caster)
Morgan le Fay - Revision (Caster)
Percival (Saber) - A joke idea, but perhaps something usable could be spun using this as a base?

And I think I got all of them for the threads I've listed.

I'm glad you liked Mordred, I was pretty proud of him. Which is why I felt the need to revisit and complete his skills list and come up with my own version of Clarent for this thread.

I'm pretty darn amused how similar my version of Morgan is to the one that was in the third thread though, since I had nothing to do with that. As for the Red Baron, I came up with that a long time ago back on /a/. They said it was too similar to Iskander, but whatever.

Zhuge Liang, The Kong Ming
Caster
Strength: E
Endurance: E
Agility: E
Mana: A
Luck: C

Noble Phantasm
>The Sleeping Dragon - All He Needs is The Wind
In most of his famous strategies & moves, Zhuge Liang was always helped by wind. It was believed by many of his friends & enemies that Kongming could control the weather, Zhuge never denied any of his claims, and his abilities over it were responsible in many victories.
Zhuge can control the weather at a small level, being able to create gusts of wind, making it rain or snowing.
With the help of his trademarked fan Kongming, can create powerful blasts of wind that while will not hurt the most powerful servants, can injure normal humans or deflects projectiles
Rank C

Redclifff - The Borrowed Arrows
Like many heroes of the ROTK, Zhuge share a part of this battle as one of his main NP. When asked to steal 100,000 arrows of the enemy army in ten days, Zhuge just shrugged and said he could complete in three days. On the third day, a very dense mist appeared on the rivers and so Kongming set sail on boats filled with straws and tauted repeatedly the enemy with drums. Thanks to the heavy fog, the enemies couldn't see the true force of Zhuge "army" and so shoot arrows at the direction of the drum sounds making them stick on the straws.
Zhuge can create a decoy of any form or size. If the Decoy is hit by any attack, Zhuge can choose to "store" the attack. If Zhuge chooses to store it, depending on the strenght of the attack, he will have to meditate into a max of 3 days to fully store it.
When fully stored, Kongming may choose to release the attack anytime he wants

Anyways, I've poked around at a few ideas in my spare time. They're still just concepts, but...

Kato Danzo/"Flying Danzo" - A legendary ninja, famed for his expertise in illusions. Caster or Assassin-class.
Feats for possible NPs:
It is said that Kato Danzo consumed an entire bull whole, before a host of twenty witnesses. Perhaps an NP that allows him to devour things to assimilate prana from them?
Danzo once escaped a trap by using a host of dolls conjured from a gourd. A Support Noble Phantasm that hypnotizes those around and penalizes enemy Servants' stats?
Could make flowers burst full-grown from seeds in an instant. Though perhaps this is just a magecraft?

I've also tried to come up with the base concept for Indrajit from Hindu myth, but I'm trying to work out the exact workings of his Noble Phantasms. He was said to have three legendary 'arrows', and be invincible if he performed a Yagna (a type of ritual, it seems)
Brahmastra (see Karna)
Pashpatastra (Shiva's arrow, sometimes said to be fired by his gaze or by a bow. Can't be used by the weak, or against one weaker than the wielder. Utterly annihilates what it strikes. Will bounce off those whose destruction wouldn't uphold Dharma?).
Vaishnavastra (A nigh-unblockable arrow - no armour or shield can block it, except for another Vaishnavastra fired at it, or by the will of Vishnu. Restricted to only be fired as a last resort for defense of oneself or one's allies. Fails if that condition is not met.)
Yagna (A particular ritual prayer, performed at sunrise. Performed properly, Indrajit becomes impossible to kill [perhaps it doesn't prevent him from being hurt, just stops death?]. If his Yagna is interrupted, it cannot be re-performed, and he suffers large penalties against the interrupter [he's supposed to die to whoever interrupts his Yagna, as I recall]).

It started as a joke in... thread 3 I believe?

But a random Futa Hassan is hardly unbelievable given Hassan of the Hundred Faces was apparently so bipolar he was centipolar and had a female personality.

Agility: E
Mana: E
Luck: A

Skills -

Musician (S)
Wyld Stallyns has the ability to enact radical social and governmental change through the power of their music, To the point where they gave birth to a utopian society.

Noble Phantasm - Stable Time Loop (EX)
Wyld Stallyns, having access to a time machine, can move forward and backwards in time to set things up to their advantage provided they remember to do so before the end of the war. As this NP is used more and more often, the chance of it not succeeding due to them either forgetting or being killed in the future increases exponentially.

I had an idea for a Hassan whose Zabaniya was to inject little pieces of his body through hypodermic needle fingers. He could use them to block arteries, or as internal shrapnel, and until he decided to kill you with them he could use them to spy out of your body.

The only weakness of the technique is that you can only inject through the lower legs. I kept imagining long, boneless, snake-like Hassan arms reaching up through a sewer grate and sticking someone while they were walking by, totally unsuspecting.

You could call it Serpent's Ascent or Delusional Infest or something

Erzsebet Bathory (AKA - Elizabeth Bathory. "The Blood Countess". Said to be the figure off whom the concept of Dracula as a vampire was based. Suitable for Caster or Berserker.
It's said Erzsebet's aunt was a witch, and her uncle was a devil-worshiping alchemist. Perhaps she has some skill in those fields, learned from them? She's also said to have delved into witchcraft after her husband's death.
Possible Noble Phantasms:
* Something to reflect her legend of vampirism? One of the interpretations of Vlad the Impaler did it too, as I recall.
* The Black Cats (a horde of ninety-nine conjured black cats, called to rip the hearts of their victims out with their claws and teeth. The harm they induce is as much a curse as it is physical trauma. Witchcraft crystallized into a Noble Phantasm, much as the King of Knights' sheath of wind is a Magecraft made into a Noble Phantasm.)
* Perhaps a skill or Noble Phantasm for her as a Berserker that allows her to retain most of her sanity while under Mad Enhancement, but only so long as a compatible partner remains alive? Reflects how Erzsebet was always considered insane, but only went *really* off the deep end when her husband died.

With it, Jiao has a fairly big extra supply of prana, and his normal spells will become stronger with it, but what truly makes this book such a useful NP, it's his synergy powers. With this book, Jiao can perform great messianic acts being able to cure powerful diseases, strenghten the body of their followers, and even at the ridiculous cost of prana, ressurect the dead. To make it work at it's full potential Zhang Jiao must obtain followers that will believe on his words and mission, as the Book necessities Faith on the User, and as the more faith is put on him the stronger his powers can get

I said that the double-asterisks are for Servants who are both fictional and would make no sense existing in the Nasuverse.

Joshua - The biblical figure, remembered first and foremost (at least in my mind, anyways) for the conquest of Jericho. Caster-class?
Possible Noble Phantasms:
* The Ark of the Covenant - The Promise of Salvation (A large, golden chest, carried by two poles, covered in a veil. A supportive NP that is sued as the focus for some of Joshua's other NPs. Wherever it is set down, it creates a consecrated field that functions as a Temple, and enhances the effect of sacraments in the name of the Judeo-Christian god. One who moves the Ark without using the poles, or looks upon it unveiled without faith, will be smote immediately.
* Fall of Jericho - The Cry that Felled the Impenetrable Wall (Anti-Fortress NP. If the Ark is carried in a circular path, that path becomes a bounded field. Each additional pass improves the Rank of Fall of Jericho [one pass is E-Rank, seven is A++]. Once the bounded field is complete, by creating a sustained, loud sound near the field's border [such as by Joshua's horn], the sound echoes and resonates, inflicting continuous damage to fortifications. Any defense shattered with Fall of Jericho cannot be re-applied until Joshua dies, or the Ark is destroyed.
*To be contined*

To be fair, there is one other Female in the 1000 Face Hassan, though she was cut from both the show AND the novel.

Speaking of Waver (and making certain assumptions about a certain figure), I've been wondering lately if anyone can summon one of the Hetairoi. I know he says they're all Heroic Spirits, but I almost feel like they're meant to be "locked," to Alexander.

The Unmoving Sun - The Longest Day (Support NP. A phenomenon akin to a Reality Marble created by a deity. The Unmoving Sun is created with the Ark as the central point, rather than Joshua himself. All appears normal within the NP, but anything beyond its borders appears frozen in time. In fact, time's flow is distorted within the NP, causing all that occurs within to happen within 'an instant' by Gaia's perception. Time-manipulating effects fail, as both past and future are 'sealed' apart from The Unmoving Day. For example, Dead Apostles could not revert their personal time flow to regenerate, nor could Fragarach step back in time to interrupt an attack. Any condition that lasts for a set period of time, or requires a set time to 'trigger', does not count time passed within The Unending Day.
* Rod of Aaron - The Divining Sapphire Serpent (Anti-Unit NP. A sapphire staff, which receives a bonus when used against those with a Divinity stat not originating from the Judeo-Christian god, or those who bear demonic traits. Can be transformed into a serpent to strike and consume at Joshua's command. It also functions as a divination focus, providing the Revelation skill to its wielder, as depicted as a growth of almonds upon its head. Actions providing good fortune is depicted with sweet almonds, and ones providing bad fortune are reflected with bitter almonds. Rod of Aaron is sealed within the Ark of the Covenant, which Joshua will not open without guidance from God, or the order of a Command Seal.)

> By the way, if you're still here. EGO, how are things going with choosing/creating Servants for your next Holy Grail War Quest?

I have the setup firmly in place.

This is a HUGE grail. It's four times bigger than the others, and for good reason, it is created by a caster who is simply... better. It's only remotely possible after the specific ending of Seattle's war.

Thus, there are FOUR SETS of servants, with four different pools to draw from. Three of these were mostly unavailable in the other wars.

RED is the old servants, the ones of history and legend.

BLUE is the servants of literature and written word.

GREEN is the servants of interactive fiction.

and WHITE is everyone else - recent heroes, those who are centered around guns.

So far, I know that at least GREEN is mostly completed. I have the Saber, the Berserker, and the Archer prepared for that one. I'm trying to figure out who I want for the others.

One other thing - no time limit.

This WAS the "date event," episode, it's hardly surprising that we'd score big on the relationship points. And in Nasu, a break for romance/fun is ALWAYS followed by horror. What happened after Shirou took Saber on a date? GIL ATTACK!

Besides, we have to step into incredible danger to rescue the school faculty soon. It's going to be trouble for sure.

Not to mention that if our favorite Battle Nun finds out we're something like a demon... well, lets just say that of all the things the Church takes a dim view off, Demons are among the dimmest. We're going to need to do a LOT of character developing with her if we want to live through that revelation.

David looks like he might end up a pretty Hax master. Once he gets a hang of Unlimited Prana Works he can supply a pretty much infinite about of mana to his servant, basically turning him into a Ilya level mana battery. I'd actually call that one 'Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes', Who Watches The Watchman.
The Summoning Dark grants him perfect darkvision, as well as the ability to converse with an ancient demon-thing that is nigh omniscient of all things that happen under the cover of darkness.

"Henry of Huntingdon, the 12th-century chronicler, tells how Cnut set his throne by the sea shore and commanded the tide to halt and not wet his feet and robes. Yet "continuing to rise as usual [the tide] dashed over his feet and legs without respect to his royal person. Then the king leapt backwards, saying: 'Let all men know how empty and worthless is the power of kings, for there is none worthy of the name, but He whom heaven, earth, and sea obey by eternal laws.'"

Alignment: Chaotic Egotistical

The safeguard is pointless. You might as well replace it with 'Should the moon suddenly turn into a piece of cheese' or something.

We discovered that during the bathroom walk-in event, not the skinny-dipping event. We've contemplated if she's a homunculus and/or an albino (the eye colour is off, but if she's dying her hair, she could also be wearing coloured contacts), but we have no proof on the subject.

On the subject of Canis Rising... EGO, a question I didn't get to ask earlier. When Annie caught Donnie's fish familiar - did she kill it, or just capture it? All I recall you saying on the subject is that she had it in a plastic bag.

Anyways, I don't think I have any more ideas, though I'd be glad to have someone go over the bits I did post (Erzsebet Bathory, Indrajit, Kato Danzo, Joshua, and Orpheus back in Thread 5).

>>
>>19871084
Well if we add the Summoning Dark to his repertoire overuse of it could degrade it. Also if his Master uses a command seal to force him to go against his nature it could also screw with it.

Another NP: Cardboard Soles

Vimes has walked the streets of Ankh Morpork for countless hours and this transfers to whatever city he is summoned to. No matter he is within a city he knows exactly where he is and what major events and happening in his vicinity.
>>
>>19871146
I'd put this more as an ability rather than an NP, but I like it.

Currently working on giving him some stats/abilities. Not sure what class he should be, though. He doesn't really fit the bill for any of them.

Blue Saber: Emo Saber from Fate/Zero

Green Saber: Saber Alter from Heaven's Feel

White Saber: A Saber from the future of UBW good end where she's revealed herself to the world and fulfilled the prophecy of "The Once and Future King,"

SO MANY SABERS... I WANT THEM ALL...

Dat Sword.

It doesn't have any special abilities, it's the least magical sword you've ever seen. It's extremely sharp and durable. Maybe one of the reasons it cuts so well is that everything else has a lot of magic in it, and it just ignores that.

Saber [Canute the Great]

"In this great expedition there was present no slave, no man freed from slavery, no low-born man, no man weakened by age; for all were noble, all strong with the might of mature age, all sufficiently fit for any type of fighting, all of such great fleetness, that they scorned the speed of horsemen."

Parameters:
Str: A
End: B
Agi: A+
Mana: C
Luck: B

Alignment: Chaotic Good
Wish: Paradise on Earth

Skills:

Magic Resistance: C

Charisma: A - As a king, Canute was well-loved by his people, boasted an incredible ability to muster armies, and famously was quoted by his skalds to "protect the land as does the Guardian of Byzantium Heaven", his reign on Earth considered the equal of God's reign in heaven.

Military Tactics: B

Noble Phantasms:

A King of Waves - How Hollow Is The Power of Man [Rank A+]
Once Canute sat his throne upon the shore and ordered the waves to stop. The tide continued on, soaking him as he sat despite his orders. A seal emblazoned with a crown hung from a golden cross, it represents the hollowness of Earthly power. Presented with this symbol, all those who claim kingly right have their strength revoked, reducing the rank of all abilities they bear to no more than their rank of Divinity. Sainthood can protect against this effect, but no longer provides its original effect.
>>
Berserker - [His Grace, Sir Samuel Vimes, Duke of Ankh, Commander of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch]

Strength: B+
Endurance: B+
Agility: B+
Mana: D
Luck: A

Abilities:

Cardboard Soles [Rank D] - Vimes has walked the streets of Ankh Morpork for countless hours. This transfers to whatever location he is summoned to. As long as he is within the boundaries of a city, he knows exactly where he is and what major events are happening in his vicinity.

Eye of the Mind (True) [Rank B] - Heightened insight that was refined through experience. Capable of calm analysis of battle conditions even when in danger and deduce an appropriate course of action after considering all possibilities to escape from a predicament. So long there is even a 1% chance of a comeback, this ability greatly improves the chances of winning.

Presence Concealment [Rank D] - Vimes is adept at hiding in the dark of night to capture criminals. While Vimes is in the shadows

Mad Enhancement [Rank B] - Rank up for all parameters, but takes away most of sanity.
>>
>>19871644

Noble Phantasms:

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes, The Guarding Dark [Rank A] - Vimes' unwavering devotion to the Law prevents any mind effecting effects below this skill's rank from affecting him. It even allows him to keep Mad Enhancement in check to some degree.

The Summoning Dark [Rank A] - Vimes was once possessed by a pan-dimensional spirit of vengeance from Dwarf mythology. He managed to defeat it through sheer force of will, and now they share a strange kind of mutual respect for one another. It has left its mark on him, however, in the form of a scar on his forearm shaped like an eyeball with a tail. This grants him several abilities. The first of which being perfect night vision. Even in pitch blackness, Vimes can still see perfectly. He is also seems to be able to communicate with the Summoning Dark, the condition being he needs to surround himself in darkness. With this skill he is able to acquire a witness account from the Summoning Dark, as the Dark represents all darkness.

Not sure how to do 'That Is Not My Cow'. I'm thinking something with raising his parameters even further when he truly DOES lose controle, but I'm not sure how to word that.
Also maybe turn his Badge or his Truncheon into NPs, but I can't really think of anything right now.
>>
>>19871669
Whenever Vimes loses control of his Mad Enhancement, whether willingly or not, all of his physical parameters are boosted another rank.

Or you could have it be him sealing Ques Custodiet for a scene and his parameters going up.

This NP truly defines him as a berserker and turns him from his standard implacable self to a very very angry implacable juggernaut.

On making a HGW game,
One could also leave the holy grail out of it altogether, and simply make it so that all mages simply desire and obtain servants as familiars. Of course, they would have to be less overpowered, but having Human spirits to pump mana into and communicate with as familiars would be the shit.

Influenced also by the loli familiar thread and Zero no Tsukaima.
Having the church as mage antagonists would be awesome, definitely by creating a hunter organization. Actually simply calling mallus maleficarum "the executors" does it. Change sword of saint micheal to the seven black keys, and it is practically done already.

Endowments are the perfect vessel for demonic powers, and random psychic stuff.

Have TINMC activate whenever something would truly threaten his 'family'. Granted, he's not taking little Sam into this world, but something similar should apply.
>>
>>19871835
Ok, if you include Vimes you need to make him have 6:00 PM storytime with his master. If there is something is going to get between storytime or threaten his Master's life then TINMC could activate.
>>
>>19871863
>Another child Master

oh come on
>>
>>19871835
The main thing I'm not sure of with Vimes is what defines a Noble Phantasm. A lot of the stuff that makes him special would probably fall under skills/abilities in the Nasuverse since they don't come from items/weapons or similar things.
>>
>>19871891
I never said that they had to be a child, he could simply insist on storytime. Maybe he has a cop master and they swap cop stories or something like that. Or a kid master.
>>
>>19871903
So give him more skills.

A Noble Phantasm is something that, when used, has a chance of IDENTIFYING the servant. Skills are something that many people can have. Vimes's unstoppability (Battle continuation), his incorruptability (Mental Pollution?), are both notable, but not OUTSTANDING. The Summoning Dark is an excellent NP, however, as is the Guarding.

What you're looking for is some sort of signature. TINMC would simply allow him to designate a person or persons as a 'family', and his unwavering dedication to them triggers his Mad Enhancement.
>>
>>19871941
Thanks, man. I'm off to bed now, though. I'll keep working on Vimes (I needed a reason te re-read my Discworld Watch-novels anywa) and post him in a future Fate/tg thread.

Again, thanks for the feedback. I'm looking forward to next sunday's Canis Rising already.
