    38 KB Privateer Quest 20 MachineSpirit !!ZwhWAwcuTHG 05/10/12(Thu)19:38 No.19059070
You are Elesh Phryx, rogue techpriest and captain of the Sword class frigate 'Sword of the Omnissiah'. The debris of 'Beginner's Luck' and the Adeptus Mechanicus Firestorm frigate cause slight havoc with your augers before Athe can filter the useless returns. Quein's corvette holds position on your ship's flank as Captain Wilson and Magos Taylor's raiders move to join your formation.

"Captain, we will have little time to adjust our deployment before the incoming ship arrives." Treis clutches her gnarled hands as she concentrates. "I believe it to be a light cruiser, perhaps larger."

'Death or Glory' is still tangled with the target factory ship as the two crews battle across ship and void. "They have combat servitors, but my men can hold them while you deal with the other ship, Captains."

    >Redeploy your forces before the enemy arrives?

Excellent, I actually made it to the beginning of this!

Glory should keep doing what it is doing, Quein hanging back to assist, the rest form up and get a good position on where the approaching ship will exit the warp. I want that thing lit up like Emperor's Day as soon as it exits the warp.

Even if it does have weapons, the ship cannot fire them while tangled in close combat with your ally.

The battle is long and bloody as armsmen, combat servitors, and skittari clash in a mad tangle of ships. Even Quein ends up deploying his crew to join the fighting, augmenting your bloodied numbers. In the end, the Lathe-class is taken and Taylor's now-burning ship is nudged into the void to die. The Factory ship is taken soon after by what combat forces your force can still muster, relieving the tattered remains of 'Death or Glory's armemen complement.

As you help tend to armsmen in the medicae deck, Magos Taylor contacts you. "Elesh, I fear we should not remain in this system for much longer. There is a little-known system nearby where we can take lick our wounds and take the prizes. If we jump now, my navigator believes the warp storm to be relatively calm."

"Do you believe that they managed a distress call in the confusion of that device, Magos?"

"I fear we are in no condition to risk that they didn't."

    >orders?

Crewing the two AdMech ships is problematic, though your combined force eventually manages the feat. You spend the next day monitoring the bridge with only Teris in her crystal dome to keep you company, as your crew mourns the dead and catches well deserved sleep that their weak flesh requires. At one point Bob keeps you company, favoring her right arm despite her meditative trance.

After the seemingly longest warp journey ever, your small fleet of allies arrives upon the edge of a barren system with a lonely, blue star. "There is a small planetoid just beyond the habitable zone, with an old wayfarer station orbiting it. We can dock to divide the loot there." Captain Wilson's voice has finally lost that strange tone it normally carries, perhaps from his visit to the Lathe-class' battle sites. "Welcome to Dove, folks."
