    >Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19028245/

You are Gerald DeFlynn. You have set out with some teammates and friends for a mission. After arriving at the sight, you discovered that Audrey had a crippling fear of water, that she neglected to bring up earlier.
After having a heart to heart with her, and teaching her how to swim outside a zoid, she seems to have calmed down a considerable amount.
She remounts her Heldigunner, and you do the same.
    Team Composition:
    You-Heldigunner
    Audrey-Heldigunner
    Rick-Sinker
    Sarah-Stealth Viper

The Sinker has the highest crush depth, despite having weaker armor, while the Viper has the lowest. You don't think it will become an issue for you and Audrey so long as you avoid any ridges on the floor.

Do the Viper's stealth systems operate underwater if so have her scout around and find the nest otherwise Rick should.

Get in our Zoids. If the viper has stealth underwater have it do some preliminary recon to get an idea of the enemy force composition. We'll use the fast sinker once we have that info to do more scouting and see if we can pull small groups of the enemy towards us into a kill zone.

What weapon systems are effective underwater?

It's Radar dimishing systems still function, but her smoke dispenser isn't usable. She also has the best sensor equipment.

"Sarah, mind taking point? You'll be the hardest to detect."
["Sure, just don't let me get shot to hell."] she answers.

As your group makes there way down the river, you spot something in the water. The large zoid waves its arm at you, and you get a message over the com.
["This is GM-103, how you kids doing?"]
"Just fine, sir. Going on a little hunting trip."
["Haha! Well good luck to you. This is as far out as I can go. If you run into any trouble, head back here. I'll cover you so you can make it back alright."]
    "That's much appreciated." You say.
["And be careful."] the officer warns. ["There's worse things than sleepers out there."]

You make your way to the listed coordinates.
["Still nothing on the radar."] Sarah informs you. It may be like last time, when the sleepers didn't show till they responded to a threat.

Have Sarah move a bit closer, very slowly and carefully I would like to know what we're up against before we make any hasty moves. If she sees anything and it reacts she is to bug out and return to the group. Given that they're asleep and she has damn good sensors we ought to pick them up before they get us.

almost everything, except Sarah's AA lasers, which she swapped out for ballistics anyway. Her rockets and missiles are also torpedoes for this mission, she's a prety good weapon platform.
The Sinker was designed for underwater combat, so its weapons work just fine.
Heldi's are a little trickier. Their weapons work, but slightly less powerful and with lower range, though with the water cooling the main cannon it can be fired almost non stop now.

Given that we can burrow, once we have information the Heldis should find a good area to make a killzone, burrow down so only the turret and a few sensors are exposed and become pretty much turrets that are difficult to notice and have an awful lot of cover.

Any idea what type of Zoid they are, if they are segmented into groups so we don't have to fight all of them at once.

Don't approach any closer, I'd like when they wake up for them to have to fight on our terms.

Once we get information pull Sarah back, set up a proper killzone, ask the Gojulas what his range is and if we give him targeting coordinates if he could shell an area with those fuckhuge guns of his.

Once we're all set up we'll have Rick do a pass, pull them, hopefully in small groups into the killzone and blow them to pieces.

You are currently out of radio range from the Garison pilot, and probably several miles from his firing zone.

Sarah tells you they're grouped in fours, spread out some meters from each other.

["We could probably take a lot out with a surprise attack with torpedoes and your cannons."] she suggests. ["If we make a beeline for the shore right after, they couldn't surround us, we might could even lure them onto the shore."]

Ambush strategy. I'd rather not try to outrun a sinker, underwater in a frog.

Both the Heldis can burrow and the Stealth viper might be able to, or at least present a very limited profile to the Sinkers. We set up an area where going in means that they are exposed to fire from all three of us when they enter and blow them to pieces.

Rick will go in, launch a salvo of missiles or rockets at a group and lure them into our death zone. Once they're lured in he'll circle around and try to hit them from the side or back if they last that long. We want to pull them in the groups of 4 if possible or at least stagger them. If more than one group comes after us Ricks job will be to delay a portion of them so we can deal with a trickle rather than a sudden wave.

You and Audrey take position in shallower water facing the west shore. You both bury yourselves in the mud and sand. Sarah digs in a little further ahead, to get the most out of her shorter ranged weapons, and catch anything that gets in too close.

Rick circles around, and starts to make a pass. After a tense moment, you find that you were correct, the sleepers don't respond to his zoid. They do, however, respond to his Remora torpedoes and rockets.

Bugging out's an option. Falling back and trying to reach out via comms is an option.

While we consider our options our immediate response should be to look at the surrounding area. Is there a nearby "ground" formation we can hide in and set up an ambush zone from? Are we in open water?

If we want to attack another option would be an Alpha strike while it's attacking a Sinker. Note the while, that's important. It'll have a harder time dodging and anticipating it. Goal to be to bring it down HARD and fast. Even if it means Sinkers stay up.

My current plan of battle is to use the Heldi's deeply buried to get it's attention and maybe deal some damage to it and dig deep as fuck when it comes to attack.

Our Sinker is a bit out being quiet and the Viper is buried nearby and being very very quiet, we find the least armored portion and while it's distracted by the Heldis those two drop every single weapon/missile/rocket/torpedo onto that location.

I'm not particularly worried about it being piloted by a nice guy pilot given that we have no clue what it is. Though we could try to establish comms from above the water using the Sinker from a fair distance.

"Let's fall back." you finally decide. "We don't have enough information to go on. I don't want to pick a fight with something that could slaughter us."

Your team agrees, and heads back to the shore.

Zoid Mother, Before you jack out into the world of the real, some final questions.

How high do Pilot Stat's go?
A definition of CRC and Affinity, I have a guessing Affinity= A knack for Piloting Zoids but I just need clarification

Lastly, Does Gerald have a definitive rank... like how they do in AC quest? Ace Pilot, B,C so on?

This is a good point, can't just fire since it's obviously not one of the sleepers we were hired to take down. I'd suggest having the others (especially Rick, he's the fastest) move back towards the shore to ask/warn the Gojulas about it while we stay and try and raise it on the radio to see if it's wild or not. Ought to be in position to burrow beneath the sea bed in case it's hostile.

sorry for bailing, my brothers a jerk like that.
Affinity is how much zoids like you.
It's like luck, though it also affects system freezes and recovering from said freezes.
CRC is short for close range combat, good old fisticuffs and what what

stats go from 1 to 9, where one is virtualy no skill at all, and 9 is near perfect.
10 would be perfect, but since no one is perfect, no one can have ten. yes, this makes perfect sense to me

    "Aozame, I read, Blood."

We'll drop your share off, have some lunch as your place or something like that then wander on home.

Stack those Sinkers up on the Gustav, get as many as we can. See if we can call up the Gojulas we saw earlier, or the local Garrison and tell them what we saw. This is obviously fucking weird as shit.

You smile a bit. Baby steps. You probably won't bring her on another mission like this anytime soon if you can help it.

["Hey, dude!"] you hear Rick over the com. ["On my way with the Gustav, Garison and ours. They say they'll give us a hand bringing everything back."]

"So maybe you're not such a jinx afterall." You grin, and he looks at you dumbfounded. He rubs the back of his head a bit. "My offer from before still stands."
"...Let me think about it." he finally says. That's good enough for now, you suppose.

Heading back to Daleport, the Garrison is more than happy to buy the Sinkers off of you, and even happier to get one of the Heldigunners. Sarah sells two of hers, but opts to keep one for 'recreational purposes'.

Deciding to get the word out, you find the commander's office, one Captain Schwerts.

And I like Eri, we've got a cute mechanic girlfriend who takes care of us and Molga. That and I'm not the hugest fan of Tsundere types.

Would it be possible to acquire a Shadow Fox, if it's not as production to get in good with the company making the prototypes for it, or a Zeekdober that we modify the living hell out of.

A good stealthy advancement, that or we take a Gun Sniper, give it more dakka and staple all the stealth fields we've acquired to it.

Where exactly are we in the timeline, it'd help for us to narrow down zoids that we may want in the future and keep from more silly suggestions.

Have Blox and Fuzors been invented yet? I remember you saying we're before the Liger Zero though.

What's our current Dosh supply look like?

How much to fix up the Red Horn?

And can we get a quick reference guide written up (for copy and paste work) with an example Zoid of each weight class with it's cost. Just something to give us an idea what we could afford if we bought new?

And because I'm apparently not asking enough...cost to make the Crimson Horn?

going to try and work on that sometime. its quite a list, you see
As for dosh, you're bringing in nearly 200,000 from this job, so you'll be sitting rather pretty, if you don't wreck shit.

Red horn needs around 28,000 to get it back to full strength, upgrading it to the Crimson horn would cost 150,000, and a lot of time.
    >>19050538
It's peformance is only a hair better than the typical Zaber, its more the weapon loadout that's custom. The real power comes from her.

    >>19050550
Curently the timeline is set at ZAC 2086, thirty years after the astroid cataclysm. The current technology is a little behind in this quest, since peace was negotiated, rather than the war continuing.

Aaand I'm out, got to go to work in the morning. Sleep tight, everybody, unless your a eurofag, then you do whatever you eurofags do at this time of day

Ah I simply meant a single zoid for each weight tier. Just a way to get an idea what 200,000 can get.

Also voting for Crimson Horn as next project. Not subtle at all, but with firepower like that...who needs subtle.

Using all their technology, the Republic creates the King Gojulas, an ultra-powerful Zoid that annihilates the Dark Army and their castle. The Descat sets out to stop it, but before they can battle, one of Zi's moons is hit by the comet Thorne and shatters, raining meteors down on Zi. The Central Continent is split into 3 segments, part of the Dark Continent sinks, and magnetic storms prevent all combat Zoids from moving, finally putting an end to the war... perhaps. Helic, the pilot of the King Gojulas, abandons the damaged Zoid and returns home with Elena, who he finds during his escape.

There's a damaged King Gojulas out there. If we find and repair it, we'll be RICH. RICH and the owners of a fucking Godzilla.

So how possible is the Energy Liger? I'm fairly certain at least ONE existed by this point, so there would be the schematics to build one if nothing else.

I mean, it'd be a bit expensive, but this is a Zoid literally worth it's weight in gold. It's got the energy shields, the guns, the claws, etc. I'd go as far as to say that it's objectively BETTER than the Liger Zero, which only has one real advantage over this Zoid: the hot-swappable armor thing Bit had. But when you balance that against the horn, the energy fields, the claws, the high performance, the other guns, and the fact that we could EASILY put a particle beam cannon in it's mouth, and the E. Liger is a walking rape factory.

Seriously, I know it might be a couple of Zoids down the line for the build, but it's very very good.

The Energy Liger came out 2108, hell the Liger Zero X it was based on doesn't even appear until 2100. It's 2086 and the lack of war means it'll probably take even longer. Even if it weren't true getting one would probably require more than dosh given how much the people creating it would be loath to part with it. Either theft or doing them some massive fuckhuge favor.

I'm personally trying to avoid thinking about the super awesome Zoids we can get in the far future and thinking of the more reasonable upgrades for the near future. Things like Zeekdober, hunting down a prototype Shadow Fox, tricking out a Gun Sniper to hell and back and stapling a stealth generator to it, our Red Horn which we have the dosh to fix up, a modified later model of Command Wolf .

Also given this new influx of money we should probably get Audrey something a lot less fragile than the Demantis. Something with extreme melee focus and manueverability. Any of the various Ligers would work quite well, though the Liger Zero isn't out yet. Other possibilities would be a Zaber Fang or something I haven't thought of.

Blade Liger man. End game right there. It has great ranged, melee, and defensive capabilities already, we have two stealth units (Perhaps we can combine them to stealth the Blade Liger) and who knews what else Eri can pull out of her engineer brain.

As much as I'd like one, it doesn't come out until 2100. So many of the cool ones come out 2100-2110. Though ZM might be kind and let us find one.

It'd be really damn good though I think I'd prefer to focus more on Dakka for Gerald, our CRC is 2. It'd be pretty great for Audrey. We might still be able to pull one though but it'd take serious work, which is what I was trying to avoid for our next upgrade.

On the bright side of upgrading Vince won't need to upgrade for pretty much forever given that he has the Houndsoldier, which is pretty OP.

Also we can stealth anything, we just hunt down Helcats and staple enough stealth generators to it.

Also another good all rounder possibility would be a Geno Saurer.

Oh man. Dat Genosaurer. That things my baby. But I'm pretty sure it's rare if not impossible to acquire one, being based off the Deathsaurer and all that. Pretty much the only time they ever actually showed up was in Ancient Zoidian ruins or via the Deathsaurer. And I don't know what ZM has planned but I do not want to go anywhere near that the Deathsaurer. Ever. Under any circumstance.

Well the wiki disagrees on whether it was made before the meteor fell or around 2100. It says it was used in the battle 2056 before the meteor fell, but also that it was made 2099 in the research to recreate the Death Saurer. It depends on which storyline we're most closely following. So we might be able to find one, maybe buried somewhere or as a stray zoid, it's unlikely we can purchase it at least not yet. It'd be tough but look at that motherfucking gun. Sure it makes us look evil as fuck but that's kinda a bonus.

We're going to have to get in good with the people developing all the stuff we want, or make friends with the guys who go around digging for these sorts of things.

Never mind, I misread that. We're not going to get one until people start trying to recreate the Death Saurer. Damn shame, I wanted an evil looking zoid.
