"What about it?" You ask, raising an eyebrow.
"They want to take a look at it."
"It's not mine." You say immediately. "I mean- It isn't my design. If they want to look at it, they'll have to ask the person who built it."
    "Who built it?"
"That mercenary girl me and Grayson worked with the other day."
"I. . see." She said. "I'll have to talk to the board and tell them that."

    Now, down to business.

Your leg stitched up, you limp over to Mark, stripping down. "Hey, uh. . any way you can repair my mechandrites?" You ask. He nods.
"I'll have a lotta work to do after the techies finish taking those things apart, but I'll do what I can." He says, taking the 'drites.

    Then you call Amy.
"Daaave." Amy said. "The secret projeeect. It's going to be awesome."
You chuckle. "Hey, I figured I should warn you; I used the Javelin today, and. . "
She sounded worried. "Did it explode?!"
"Uh, no, it didn't. In fact it destroyed a massive, high-tech powersuit in the mission today. But the guys I work for want to know how it works."
"Ohh. So you told them to get into contact with me." She says. "Maybe I can get some money by making a deal with them. Nice thinking!"

    ----

"Just looking after the interests of my favorite lady mad scientist. Make sure to get a good deal, though. It's a pretty powerful weapon."
"Oooh, you know what might even be a better idea? I could get a job there! As like, an agent or something. This morning, Grayson told me that it's pretty much the same thing as a merc job, except you can always rely on backup." She said. "Plus, they'd be totally interested in all the things I make in my spare time."

"You and Grayson both worked with me a few days ago. I don't think it'll be an issue." She said. "But I should get to work. See you in a few hours, Daaaave."
You turn to Jun. "She'll by by in a few hours, and intends on getting a job here. I'm . . not exactly sure with how hiring works here."

"Well, mostly, we do interviews. For our agents, we need someone with qualified skills or experience, and for our technicians we need some kind of concept or device to look over. Which does she intend to be?"
"Well, ah. . is both an option?" You ask.

    Wait, fuck, ISHELDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

If anyone has touched our bro, the streets will run red with blood. If someone has touched OUR FUCKING CAT, there are no fucking words in ANY human language to describe the SHEER DEPTH of the bloody vengeance we shall have.

Oh, that was from the very beginning, right? Man, I wouldn't have thought that the head security would have done something like that anyway. Of course now that we know his actual backstory. EE is willing to let us go as we please nowadays, so they can't be /that/ bad.

What else did we fuck up? Please tell.
Something tells me that today's mission was supposed to go much, much harder.

I know that feel. With the three days, I mean. Maybe I should try running a quest sometime. Been considering it on and off for over a year now.

Also, I'm not sure whether you saw this on twitter, so I'll say it again here- this is the most fun I've had actually participating in a quest thread, bar none.

Screw SWQ and Metahuman Renaissance, NearFuture Cyborg Quest is where it's at.

Here, because we're so far from autosage, I'll detail a few things about the STORY BEHIND THE STORY.
NFC was pretty much planned to be what it is now; Where you fuck around with cybernetic enhancements and shoot things. But originally, you were planned to break out of EE, making enemies with Jun, and fall in with a group of mercs.

Detective: This was the proto-verne, and he was going to be the squad commander. Brash, always drunk, always kind of a jerk.
Bro: This was proto-Grayson. He was planned originally to already be in the merc squad, not in EE with Jun- you were planned to break out on your own. He was going to be some kind of heavy-duty sniper with AI-assisted targeting.

Brat: This was proto-amy, and she wasn't actually a genius. She was going to be loud and annoying, and carry around an uzi and a bag of grenades, because her russian uncle sent her 'goodies' every so often.

Abel didn't exist at this time in the planning.
    >> Anonymous 05/03/12(Thu)21:30 No.18968904
    So, the new electromuscle 'drites.

Are they more organic-looking? Are we packing a pair of tentacles that look like coiled masses of fuck-you-I'm-the-ubermensch murdermuscle?

    >tricd andCuel
So, Captcha says the point-and-click version of this comes on three discs and is pretty cool.

    > The drites look identical, but a bit bulkier; and the 4 monoknives will have been replaced with a single x-shaped mono-sword in the center. That way, when the gatling-gauss is spinning, the mono-sword becomes a mono-drill. For maximum slashy death.

Templar: This was proto-alli, and she was designed to be a returning sort of nemesis. But not because of her brother dying, but because she's morally opposed to implants of any kind. She was going to get along exclusively on combat drugs and monomolecular weapons, and be some kind of hacker-ninja.

I like that we were annoyed at being held prisoner, but figured that honestly they weren't all that bad as far as corporations go. We figured it was best to remain on their side in case we had to run, and to not try to skip town until we had more data. It's ended up with us working for them in a pretty nice relationship.

So I had Grayson show up, supposedly 'undercover', and then I realized I had no idea what I was doing. So I decided, 'Fuck it' and wrote whatever came to mind. Only around thread three or so did I have even slightly a clue what I was planning, and the longer this goes on, the wider my plots and plans spread.

I find that's actually what works best on the rare occasion I actually manage to get enough people together to game. Anything I plan in advance- literally anything- basically crashes and burns, usually under its own colossal, unsustainable weight.

But the moment you start winging it, people just have fun. And as long as you don't let on you aren't actually planning things in advance, they think you're some kind of Kira-tier chessmaster.

    PROTO-AI:

You were always going to have an AI assistant. I was thinking something like cortana, but then when it came time, I didn't know how to introduce them. So instead I brought in Clippy, and let you murder him. Finally, when it came time to meet proto-verne and proto-amy, I gave Amy a cluster of AIs and gave you your choice.

Sir. You're pretty much the next Evo Quest.

That, to those who remember Evo Quest, should mean a lot. Whatever you do, don't stop this quest. I honestly don't know how, but you have that same... That same SPARK, of winging and creativity and ridiculous bullshit, all strung together into a followable plot, somehow.

Those of us who were there all greatly miss Evo Quest. Don't drop out like the author of that quest did. If you keep running this quest, then that'll be the end of it. But if you stop... I will look for you. I will find you. And I will blorp you.
