Game post following shortly. Council vote to let the French Foreign Legion in to support has been passed in favor of.

- France has made a formal statement in our favour to International Communities. The UN has withdrawn French Troops from their forces in Nation. Dutch, Japanese, and American troops have filled their rolls.

-French Foreign Legion force in the numerical scope of about 2,500 men have arrived at our air port and are setting up a Forward Operations Facility near the border to stem any large push from the North via the main highway/roadway.

-Efforts to demoralize and turn locals in the North to our favor has yielded plenty of intelligence. It seems someone is supplying them with light soviet-era armor. A shipment of 20 T-55s is reported to have arrived. The T-55s have been identified as such by hand-drawn sketches handed off to our people. Intelligence has no idea where they came from, either a stash somewhere we forgot about - or another nearby nation. Highly unlikely it was Russia or other further nations.

-Food Aid distributed amongst the DMZ and our own people has been greatly welcomed. While most is international, our government has received the praise for this.

-There are reports of increased theft. Police efforts, while increased, are having difficulty in stopping everything.

-Medical Facilities have been improved - now with a local, more focused society around our modern city... disease and death rates are down compared to the past two months- minus war casualties. Meanwhile in the north, rates are rumored to be up.

-Black Superman has been spotted helping pass out food aid near the DMZ zone.

Checking back in the previous thread, the rebels were moving artillery pieces close to the DMZ.
We were able to detect their movements using our cheap-ass UAV recon planes. Have we been able to pin down where exactly they are, and what kind of artillery they have?

Once we launch our counter-offensive, I want to be able to sweep in and capture those guns.

The rail line is the fastest way of reaching Corabana.
We need it operational to quickly move troops to the city and take it.

So far, we have not had any intel reports about the rebels mining the rail line, or sabotaging it; they would need it too if they want to invade the capitol.

This is why I suggested we make a remote control car that will go along the rails and detonate any IED's along the way.

Bridges and tunnels are time-consuming but otherwise replacing damaged rails should be easy, if we have the proper machinery and manpower.
A couple of companies of engineers should do the trick. The rail shouldn't need much patrolling apart from the few choke points that need 24/7 protection, and the engineers and their equipment could be transported to the damaged parts by rail or with trucks.

I've watched a crew of 8 men take 4 hours to remove a single section of rail and replace it with a new one. Admittedly, this is in the USA where half of them were likely fondling themselves, but they were also using equipment to assist in lifting the rail section.

If you have an IED take out a rail section, you've got warped rail sections that need removal and replacing, a need to replace the (I assume still wooden) rail ties that were damaged or destroyed, and you'll need to replace and compact any displaced soil from the raised area (or flat ground, if that is the case) of ground that the rest needs to rest upon.

The rebels have very limited artillery, and the only artillery pieces they have are being placed at the northern end of the DMZ, on the opposite side from the rail lines.

As for the usefulness of the war train, it is not meant to carry an entire battle. It is used as a diversion, and as an armored transport to get troops into the train station of Coraba.

We don't have the APC or transport helicopters to get a sufficient number of infantry to Coraba after we roll through the DMZ without using the rail line.

You're asking the impossible. The best we could do is a partial steal using our Hinds and Hip with our best soldiers who crosstrained slightly on our T-55s, and then inserted under Fulcrum cover, followed by a few thermobarics.
