As the lem population grew in Dakkons death the trees and the Ry'lai helped to accommodate them on their journey. Enclave huts are erected at the base of the mega frilla and the Ry'lai are quick to help their visitors.

Meanwhile the loss of so many frilla speakers and Dakkon has sent many of the Ry'lai into confusion. There are many who begin to take up the mantle of frilla speaker and many more who want to focus on their newly found webway. While many of the younger webway shamans cannot see the grand causeway as Dakkon could they can see more localized ones. The lem are outside of their influence but any sick Ry'lai can now be healed by shamans and hrass medicines.

Those who understand the Lem have found them strangely silent. Dakkon's influence has the mega frilla continue to move forward with the smaller village of Urza trailing behind them ever so slightly. Behind them the frillas leave a trail of seedlings hoping to grow more of the flying frilla plants in their wake.

Rolls for new frilla speakers, continuing north, food gathering, seed planting.

The Zu-nul efforts to build a water tight storage system continue to meet failures. No matte how hard they try, the dried nectar simply can't withstand water.
Now they begin to look for ideas from elsewhere.

One scout notices, how the Usmall sandcoral hives seem to be unaffected by water. They material they are made from retains it's hardness, even when submerged, and water doesn't seem to pass trough it.
Some suzumou start trying to figure out how to utilize these creatures and their building capabilities to the benefit of the tribe.

The hunter groups on the other hand have spotted how the Hitangan farmers carry water in strange containers. Even though they are no longer as cautious of their tall and bulky neighbours, the gorrirogs are still extremely intimidating to the child sized suzumou. Some of the brawest hunters drags his kill towards the farmer settlement and when some of the gorrirogs come closer to investigate, he attempts to convey his willingnes to trade the kill for some of the water pots.

The Zu-nul send a new pair of scouts to investigate the plains. They will try figure out the behavioral patterns of the landworms, so that they might capture one for their god.

The Zu-nul rejoice when they hear the news of Knixi's return. They hold a great feast and praise Zhen'qual for this miracle. Knixi herself becomes more an more confused. The fact that her dreams are memories from her previous life hasn't yet occured to her.
Chirrin has started taking care of her, as she seems to relax in his presence. He is almost an adult by know, but her the the mental connection to him is quite strong due to the infused memories. She feels more comfortable around him, than with the other nymphs.

It takes some time for the Hitangan to figure out what the suzumou want, but they eventually realize that they want the water pots. The farmers give over almost all the metal pots happily. It's not exactly a fair trade, but the ancients have been trying to strengthen relations with the Zu'Nul for ages! After all, they can always make more.

The old head architect died in that disaster. He was old, and his mind wasn't always with him in those days. When it came time to clean out his old hut, it was found that it contained piles and piles of stone slabs with blueprints carved on them. Looking at some of the more recent plans, it became apparent why his tower fell: Even if the landworm didn't do the damage it did, the structure itself was lacking proper weight-bearing support for something its size.

Some begin to think life in the town is getting to be a little crowded, and go out to start a new settlement at the edge of the forest to the north.

Rolling for sorting out the blueprints, making corrections to the flawed ones, and new settlement.

The Zu-nul hunter gladly accepts the pots.
Now, the tribe can finally store water. Due to being a desert dvelling species, the suzumou have adapted to the shortages of water, but they still need it to survive. By being able to store water they can be more secure in case of a drough.

Don't know about the war thing, I'll leave it for IG or Ng to descide.

VKB deserters were allowed to mix with the Hu-Raan, but some Hu-Raan still eyes them with suspicion. It was after they shared the information of explosives that the Hu-Raan begin to accept them more openly.
The blueprints were collected, but it seems like some of them were cyphers... the architect was kinda paranoid, it seems. Other potential architects see the problem and try to solve it their own way, and the new settlement was full of new architecture. BUT! Tragedy strikes! One of the new building's flaws became apparent when it slowly leaned and crashed onto another multi-story building, and the resulting domino effect caused most of the new settlement to be destroyed. Only one multi-story building stood triumphant, its trapezoid shape firmly defends it against the other buildings.

    >>18917393
After poking the sandcoral Usmals they captured, the Zu-Nul managed to get it to secrete a liquid that forms a waterproof cement if mixed with the right amount of sand.
Meanwhile, scouts managed to take high aerial reconnaisance of the plains, and saw patterns in the ground... landworm tracks! They have also figured out that one of the tracks lead to the desert, while the others seem to lead towards the south and southeast.

The Enclave forces remain quiet observers, waiting for a new leader to emerge. In the mean time they have been extensively documenting their travels, the new life forms, and their technology encountered. They have taught a few things to the Ry'lai, such as map making, enclave sign language and the written standard enclave language. Not too many of the locals are proficent in it, but in time they will come to know it naturally....it is the way of the enclave. The Lem have busied themselves, moving in cycles of who hybernates. those who are not in suspended animation have no need of sleep, and remain in motion day and night, either guarding the tree city, planting and tending to new frilla and hrass shoots, or constructing odd things ((lem gliders and new guns and armor)). The scouts begin to follow the tracks leading to the desert, knowing that they have higher changes of catching them in an environment that they are familiar with.

Ideally, they would like to find a sperm capsule left by the worm, as that way, the could skip the whole capture and subdue the worm phase.

The landworms usually avoid the desert, as they can't compete with their bigger and smarter sandworm cousins. The scouts are of course unaware of how strange the behavior of the worm they track is.

The scouts also attempt to summon juvenile worms to their aid, so that if it becomes nescessary, these young worms might be able to confuce thea landworm enough with their vibrations, allowing the suzumou to subdue and capture it.

Note, that the landworms are many times smaller than their sandworm cousins. The harder soil they vibrate trough has forced caused them to shrink, as moving trough it consumes much more energy than moving trough sand does.

The Zu-nul have began to dig deep underground wells, that are reinforced with the usmal cement. They carry water from the oasis to these wells with the steel buckets they traded from the Hitangan.

technology can slow down a bit, as it stands now your new powers serve quite well in the place of physical weapons and equipment. You can fly, and your trees grow and produce what you need. For heavy defense the Lem have set up a semi-permanent outpost on your tree. What would be adviseable to work on is a new leader, or governing body of some sort so the lem can interact with the leadership of your tribe. As it stands now its been informal. You can also work on tending your flying city, and growing it. i would like to see something like 10 of the great trees clustered near eachother, vines forming bridges and holding smaller pods in place amongst the branches. so basically..grow your city 10 times bigger...what else. Could work on culture, such as medical care, form a niche that would be appealing if you want to form an alliance with the other races. Ill allow for rapid progression in these areas. The gaining of trees can be easily explained that as your tribe roams they pick the biggest frilla tree to "mutate/ evolve" into a floating frilla trees.

Harimau's men cannot make much headway with the Hu'Raan Writing. The only fortunate part is that the Hitangan have an easy time carving duplicates of characters that the Hu'Raan teach them. Eventually Harimau sends for one of the mystics to join them. Being the spiritual leaders and the wisest of the Hitangan, He hopes they can help.

Plans were made for a road to be built, but resources are still tight, and tons of focus is spent towards improving the village (which has quickly developed into "The Capital"). Hu'raan building methods are painstakingly duplicated to create split level storage buildings, and underground shelters for storing food and water while taking cover form airborne threats.

The increased demand for stone and metal sees advancements in mining tools. Rock carving tools become more sophisticated and ore refineries are built in the fortress.

Similar advancements are made on domestic tasks. Abundance of plant material and animal skins turn into useful supplies. The mystics develop a means of weaving the fibers together into cloth which is useful for a great number of applications. Clothes are made for important figures in society. The mystics seem to put meticulous care into their garb.

Various handles and thick plates ensure that The Scar Wall can be swiftly and safely maneuvered. The bracing leg is augmented with wheels adapted from the mining carts. A few huts with supplies are set up at mid points for rest, and resupply.

The armor and prosthetics of The Scar Wall are impressive. So much learning went into the project that it has bled backwards to the Hitangan. Prosthetics are now quite advanced, a marvel of dried tendons, hinges, and know how. Armor has also improved significantly, become more durable while lighter. the trick was putting woven leather and plant fiber in stacks between two plates of metal. The Ry'lai experience what can only be described as a cultural and technological renaissance. With the Lem providing new technologies and protection the Ry'lai turn to new things. For one their home tree has grown and with it a new crop of Frilla speakers has emerged. They converse with Alc'mund the great frilla often. The tree's mind with Dakkons influence now moves at a much faster pace than it did in Dakkon's time.

When the Ry'lai pass by particularly large frilla they uplift them and populate them. One such tree is the largest they have seen yet. The Alc'mund and Dakkon send out their roots to touch the new tree. In doing so they hope to combine the land masses and the minds of the frillas.

(Alright, time for me to catch up to the time-line!)

As time goes on, Zhen'qual lays her eggs, but due to an order from the godworm herself, the Hazuvaat-nul ritual is not conducted. She wishes to monitor the development of these larvae, and only release them to the desert when she is sure that they are strong enough to survive.

Over time, it becomes apparent that resurrecting her was not the only thing the godworm did to Knixi. She started to grow bigger than her peers, stronger and mentally more powerful. The majority of Zu-nul rejoiced when it became clear that Knixi was a wormborn, but there were those, that were worried by this development.

Sadkha was ready to step down from the position of leadership, but it was not jet the time for Knixi to take her place. She had other things to do. The two praetorian nymphs were also swiftly developing, but the presence of these two wormborn was jet unknown to the tribe.

The act of breeding the gillworms has allowed the Zu-nul to rely less on hunting for their own needs. The gillworms are enough to satiate the needs of the suzumou. Now, the hunts are only conducted so that the godworm might be fed.

The time for Knixi to fulfill her first mission is at hand. She will go to the Hitangan tribe, and serve as an ambassador. She will learn from the gorrirogs, so that the godworm might asses their usefulness. So far, her mind has been relatively stable, despite the numerous mental re-programmings she has undergone.

Rolling to see if the Hitangan allow Knixi to join them.

Their crafting is rudimentary, and with time it will imrpove. the exploration to the north is done cautiously, from a distance, the Lem offer strange tubes which see quite far, further then the eye alone. The hunt has brought in very moderate food. The webway seers have been taxed hard as of late, practicing nad have experienced a group burn out, they need to rest for a few days.

The lem of the enclave go to one of their huts, from it they pull out rack after rack of the 4 shot hand cannons (shotguns) given to the Nad'Lun. Nad might have a picture of it. They are rugged, simple, easy to maintain, and at close range rather nasty.

The language barrier between the gorrirogs and suzumou still exists. Because of this, Knixi spends the majority of her time just monitoring her tall hosts, and listening to their speech.

The Zu-nul have started attempting to copy the way their neighbors make the plants grow from the soil. They have no plans of eating them, but they instead plan to feed the plants to the gillworms.

Zhen'qual keeps monitoring her two hybrid children with the aid of the suzumou. One of them is doing quite well, growing in size and intelligence daily. It has the more efficient vibratory muscles of the landworms, their grabbing tongue beak and structurally lighter, but still extremely resilient shell, while still retaining the sandworm intelligence and sleek body type. The young worm can move faster than most of it's peers trough the sand.

The other larva isn't doing as well. It has the complete body type of the landworms, making it's movements slower in the sand, as the hard metallic bumbs covering it's shell only cause drag in the already loose soil. Not to mention that it's growth is far slower than it's siblings.

Zhen'qual attempts to figure out a way how to make her second child thrive. She could always order the suzumou to carry it back to the plains, the increased intelligence of the larvae might allow it to compete against the native landworms, but she has her doupts about it.

Rolling for Knixi to pick up on the Hitangan language, farming and coming up with a way to make the second larva to thrive.

    The sandworm life stages:

The sandworms start as small, about inch long larvae. These tiny critters live in the sand, usually near the oases. They feed on plants, smaller creatures and carrion. There can be thousands of these small worms on one oasis alone. As they grow, they begin to hunt bigger and bigger creatures, while still eating the plants.

The juvenile worms are larger up to as long as 3-30 feet long. Only few from hundreds of these larvae ever grow this large. At this stage, they are far less vulnerable to predation, although still not immune to it. These juvenile worms are crafty, constantly finding new ways to get food. They can move in closer proximity to each other than the adult worms can, as the vibrations they cause aren't jet intense enough to confuse their senses. They also start laying eggs in this phase. The line between a juvenile worm and an adult one is quite blurry.

The adult worms are massive creatures in themselves. They require great amounts of food to survive, and because of this, the most common cause for their deaths is starvation. Only a couple few of them manage to grow into the immense size of the godworms.

Unlike one would think, the sandworms don't actually burrow through the sand that much. When they hunt, they move under the sand, but when just otherwise moving from place to place, they prefer to stay above the sand, as it consumes less energy. They move mostly by night, relocating themselves to more preferable hunting grounds. The worms are ambush predators, they wait near the oases for a prey creature to move by, which they attack from underground.

Note that the chart might depict the worms slightly too large. I suck at making size comparisons.

Kuat realizes that he has failed in this endeavour. With shame in his eyes, he requests that Lembut send for assistance from the Hu'Raan. Harimau recieves these orders as he returns and seeks council with the emissary Keanil. Harimau encounters the suzumou emissary Knixi.
"A Nu'Zul? Among us? Bless this day! They have reached peace with us at last!"
He bows deeply to the abassador of the suzumou, and returns to his work with Keanil.

"We are not prepared" The mystics warn. "Though our lives are connected, we are prey to them. We would be their food". Lembut was not pleased to hear this. Lembut spoke solemnly "We can not lay down and die for them. We shall protect our allies, we shall protect our race and all those who wish for peace. We have reached out and been heard, now we will show our worth to the world"

Lembut, Unggu, and Kuat all agree that more resources are needed. Mining has increased dramatically to keep up with trade. Now it seems that more is needed. More food is needed to provide for the races in their alliance. More equipment is needed to defend their allies. A front line is needed.
Kuat's message to his fellow ancients speaks truly "This fortress shall only be useful as a last resort. A new Fortress in the plains will be needed to protect the Zu'Nul, the Simidan, and the Capital from being directly attacked in the coming crisis."

Rolling for: (Unggu) Expand the farmlands! (Lembut) Collect an army! we occupy the plains and begin building the fortress! (Kuat) Forget the jewellry, we need to be armed! "We have so many to feed, we must make sure that our combined races do not starve!" said Unggu in the council of the triumverate.

So it was that the northern oasis developed a small settlement of farmers that traded and gave openly to the Hu'Raan. On the coast, farmlands boomed, fishing increased, and ramels were harnessed in emulation of the Hu'Raan to transport food along the trade routes. This quickly spread in practice to the whole of Hitangan society.

"We must build a fortress to protect the other races. a place for us all to gather in the darkest hour!" Commanded Lembut.

And so, a small army was gathered and sent to protect the site where the fortress would be built as supplies were ferried out. Hu'raan and Hitangan worked together as Architects to design a fortress that would stand till the end of time.

Kuat tried to convince the other members of the triumverate that the more esoteric uses of resources should be halted to focus on defense. However Unggu and Lembut felt this would damage trade relations with the other tribes so Kuat's decree was not heeded.

Knixi Could not be easily taught as she was shy and distrusting of the Hitangan. Time would change this.

Harimau and Keanil worked hard together to develop an explosive weapon. Keanil's wisdom proved invaluable in the development of the cannon. The metal barrels were refined, and the payloads controlled. Soon they had a prototype that was capable of firing solid shell or razor sharp shrapnel. It was a development that would prove crucial in the times to come.

As a result the group begins to make camp near the rocks. The engineers quickly begin work on prospecting the rocks while the enclave lem keep watch from above.

The toll of learning from their powers takes a number on the younger webseers. They effectively burn out. Their connection to the webway is more or less lost to them. While they can still encourage sickness to heal faster they can no longer “see” the fates of others, just a feeling of familiarity while healing. Fal’kest heads up trying to recruit more webseers, the methodology for discovering those with good websight is still fairly unclear. Most of the current webseers were volunteered and some may still be hiding their powers.

They return home with their payload and are greeted with the sight of some lem training with what appear to be Ry'lai.

Since their frilla daggers come from a living thing the blades appear to dance in ways that should not be physically possible. In a risky move the mother godworm takes the reabsorbed genetic material of the deformed larve and by carefully "straining it" injects it into the stunted landworm bodied larvae. The change is immediatly apparent after a few days, The child begins to grow a single horn from its head, its characteristics become more rough, agressive, the simple studs that were on its body become spikes, the electrical abilities of the worm awaken, and crackle to life. the genetic soup continues to wreck havoc on the poor worms body, bringing about sudden and painful changes...this is the price of ambition. Her child grows and will be great, but it suffers. (please draw to your imagination what this worm now looks like.)

The journey to the southern deserts will take time. Time not to be wasted by the council. As they once again begin to pass over the largest parts of the frilla forest webseers and engineers alike are called down to select the strongest trees to integrate into Alc'mund. In the end 7 new trees are added in a ring around Alc'mund. They provide additional lift, living space, and protection for the ever growing Ry'lai population.

Alc'mund has become the heart of the Ry'lai city. Many of the Ry'lai visit it daily to discuss things with Frilla speakers who often talk to Alc'mund. Urza and the council are often found here making sure things run smoothly around the newly expanded city.

The northern part of the city has become the area where many of the juvenile Ry'lai learn, and grow up. More hrass grows along the northern ridge. The frillas here are also much younger so they give advice much more to the younger Ry'lai's liking.

The western frillas have become the war training trees. Death mask Ry'lai train here with their enclave allies. Many areas are coated in metal here to allow the Ry'lai time to practice dropping their explosive payloads. Alongside that there are areas dedicated to examining new uses for poisons and the like.

The east is mainly dedicated to the webseers. They practice their healing and group uses for the webway. Many of them use their abilities as a kind of clairvoyance. Any aggression towards them can be felt if the creatures are connected to the web of life.

Meanwhile the southern frilla have become the industry of the Ry'lai. Small mining groups are sent out periodically as the massive floating trees pass over good rock outcroppings. Here the trees have chimney stacks everywhere. The forges burn into the night, the craftsmen work on creating more propellers to move the city along. The first of the propellers is moved by Ry'lai moving a what can only be described as a winch. Some of the engineers have proposed a chamber that can take the powers of the explosive bombs created by Ry'lai to power the props.

Rolling for...Integration of new trees, battle practice, combustion container, use of combustion to power propellers.

    >I don't plan for anything else to happen to the Ry'lai for a while. All of this happens over the course of months as the giant Frilla passes over the northern forest to the desert. The only things from here will be social stuff more or less. Unless I roll all 1s :\

The presence of the houyi makes her extremely uncomfortable. Sometimes, when she hears the signature sound of the houyi spine fire, she becomes extremely tense.

The Zu-nul continue to farm plants and feed them to the gillworms living in some of their underground wells. Their population is steadily growing, now that they no longer need to hunt both for themselves and for the Hazuvaat.
The tribe begins to expand their storage chambers, so that they could store a bigger surplus of food.
They also send out hunters again, so that the godworm could be fed.

Zhen'qual monitors the development of her smaller child. The amplified electric abilities might prove to be useful. She still keeps this child nearby, but the time for the bigger one to leave has dawned. The combustion chamber explodes after a few cycles...though this does proove the functionality of combustion, much research will be required, perhaps even technology from another tribe before this is viable. However in the meantime all the hot air and exhaust gasses from the industrial sector are routed thru pipes to the propellers, this turns them slowly, but steadily and provides a good use for the waste heat. The Cho fields were upgraded and now the growth rates have increased a lot. The southern parts were succesfully cleared of rubble and they managed to build the storehouse that is now in use. Roads were upgraded. It was nothing epic but they managed to do basic pavement to it.

The mystic Jambu, who felt as though the worms were the bringers of life and death, she was the one chosen. Her reverence for the worms would make her ideal for this task.

The floating cities of the Ry'Lai. The Hitanagn knew nothing of them, but now they were coming. they grew closer every day. Lembut requested that a way be found to contact them. Perhaps they too would join the Hitangan in peace.

The fortress was coming along as planned. The triumverate decided upon a symbol that would represent all the races in their collective so far. Supplies were shipped out, and resilient shelters built for the inhabitants of the races.

Kuat brings the Scar Wall to the capital. He intends to move all the way to the new fortress. He orders his men to look for the Scar Walls kin with him. In their travels through the plains, they come across a band of artillery houzi fighting off jet wespars. Naurally Kuat takes the opportunity to drive the massive armoured bulk of the scar wall and blast at the wespar with his Houyi kin until they disperse. The Scar Wall is seen as a giant shining god to these cunning predators, and when offered meat they decide to join the Hitangan in the fortress.

Harimau attempts to scout the fringes of the Hu'Raan territory and comes across a race he has never seen before. Harimau cautiously scots them out until he has a chance to offer them some of his supplies.

Unggu's time spent on the coast allows her to develop fishing techniques the mainland Hitangan would never think of. The second child carves its own niche in the desert, and that is by becoming an efficient top-tier hunter. It would utilize a plethora of strategies that uses its electric powers, like sensing them using both static feedback and tremorsense to locate prey (so it can truly 'see' if it's the real thing or just a decoy/defensive measure).
Storage chamber reconstruction is slow due to tunneling herbivorous Burrogs that keep poking in. It seems like they sensed food is near.
Sandworm religion is gaining hold upon some local Koburrog villages. Some Koburrogs even made a pilgrimage to see Zhen'qual, albeit from a distance.
The warriors gave Knixi ample information about the quake worms they encountered. (I'll let you decide what's known about them)
Meanwhile, some of the jet wespar eggs hatch. They quickly prove to be a nuisance at best, and an eye hazard at worst. I mean, they keep flying into eyes! Some workers are getting treated for eye injury.

In the last thread a small ship of Lem crashed on the north western shore. The VKB and Ry'lai went out to meet them. VKB were slaughtered in the ensuring fight while the Ry'lai were cowed by their superior technology. The Lem offered the chance at food, and my people starving took them up on their help.

They have served as allies and guardians helping to push Ry'lai technology to where it stands now (metal working, battle training, pipes, language: enclave). When the northern LEm fell silent the Enclave lem asked to be turned back to the desert. As of right now there is a Flying Frilla Alc'mund the size of 6, or so, large frilla surrounding by an outer ring of 10 large frilla. The trees are hollow and carry the entirety of the Ry'lai population and are currently visible to pretty much everyone in the desert (massive tree fortress flying with propellers and pulsating pink gas sacks).

Success! I was able to breed out the best attributes and qualities, and get them to single breed of pusmals. The new Pusmal warriors are just what we needed to have some military power. Their best quality is the speed they grow in to adulthood and the sheer amount of them in one brood. We Pusmals are numerous to begin with but with this our numbers will grow even more. Another Great news is the fact that the Mother gave birth to another Queen. With this we can at last build another hive! With our earlier succes in the northwest i thought that it would be the best direction to build the new hive.

    And now for more narrative.
The following happens before Knixi becomes an emissary of the tribe.

The cool humid air of the storage burrows washed over Knixi's body, as she descended to these underground chambers. These burrows provided her with some sense of privacy, privacy that she desperately needed right now. Zhen'qual had talked to her. Finally, everything was clear. The years of confusion and uncertainty were finally over. Her path had been made clear by the Hazuvaat.
    She had to leave.

It had been almost five years since she emerged from the wormflesh as a fledgling nymph. During these five years, the dreams continued, and intensified. Her pre-born experiences granted her knowledge and intelligence her peers lacked. Eventually, she was made aware of the fact that she had died, and the dreams were her memories from her past life.

At first, she was understandably shocked, but the information also explained so much. Over time, the dreams started to merge into her own persona, as if she had truly experienced them. This process was aided by Chirrin, who was the only clear link between her past memories and current self. Under his care, she grew stronger and wiser.
    >> Nad 05/01/12(Tue)12:50 No.18935136
    >>18935126

It was not to last however. When she started nearing adolescence, Zhen'qual's blessings started manifesting themselves. She grew bigger, stronger and smarter than her peers, and no longer did she resemble the girl in her dreams. This dissonance between her memory self and true self caused her to question her own identity. Due to these wormborn traits, she also started drifting away from Chirrin, as every day the past memories became even more muffled, her identity, more obscured. Chirrin attempted, but failed to help her, as he himself was equally lost when witnessing his childhood friend suddenly changing this way. The tribe started preparing her to claim the place of the ruling council of sisters, as she clearly bore the traits of the wormseer.

The tittle of the wormseer wasn't destined for her however. When the scouts discovered the holy capsules, Zhen'qual started speaking to her. Every time she communed with the Hazuvaat, she could feel the thoughts of the godworm pouring to her feeble mind. Desires, goals, motivations... they all were slowly infused to her mind. Soon enough, she too shared the desire for knowledge that Zhen'qual had. As time went on, her identity became stronger. She was meant to serve Zhen'qual. The changes to her form were intended to help her fulfill her tasks better.
    >> Nad 05/01/12(Tue)12:51 No.18935142
    >>18935136

No longer did she feel as one with the dream self. The Knixi of the her dreams was young, naive and adventurous, while the true Knixi was infused with knowledge from the Hazuvaat.
The last communion with the godworm had finally made everything clear, the pieces of the puzzle had fallen in their place, and only clarity remained. Her purpose in life, her destiny was to aid Zhen'qual to learn more about this world. The Hazuvaat commanded her to leave the tribe, join up with the neighboring gorirrogs and learn what there is to learn from them, before returning back to Zhen'qual and sharing the obtained knowledge.

She retreated to the storage chambers, so that she could meditate, and prepare herself for that what lied ahead. The hardened sand felt cold against her clawed feet. She started gathering supplies for the trip to the Hitangan territory, mostly dried gillworms, into a pouch.
A worm-statue gifted by the bulky creatures sat at the opposing wall, guarding this chamber. It was clear that there was much that could be learned from the gorirrogs. These statues showed that these infidels could perhaps serve the godworms too.
    >> Nad 05/01/12(Tue)12:52 No.18935162
    >>18935142

Her thoughts were disrupted when she felt someone entering the chamber. It was Chirrin. A strange sensation that she had already experienced this crossed her mind. She put the pouch to the floor and gazed at her guest. The patterns on his wings indicated feelings of sorrow and anger.

"So it's true then. Why are you doing this?"
    "Doing what?"
    "Leaving. Sadkha told us."
    "Because it is my destiny."
"How? How can it be your destiny?"
"Zhen'qual has dictated it so. I must help her to learn from the Hitangan."
"What could the infidels teach us? We have done fine by ourselves! We have built wells, hunted, raised plants and water worms without the help of the outsiders. What could you learn from them?"
"Jet it is clear that they know things that we do not. The statue behind you was made by our neighbors, was it not? Zhen'qual must gain the knowledge the Hitangan have, and I will be her agent in this task. I was made for this."
"No! You were brought back to us! You were reborn Knixi! Why would the mighty Hazuvaat bring you back only to change you so utterly?"
"You praise Zhen'qual in the same sentence in which you doubt her wisdom. What is that you want from me Chirrin? Zhen'qual guided me back from the desert winds, isn't that what all of you hoped?"
"..Yes, but you are not the Knixi I knew."

"She wouldn't abandon her friends, her family and her home like this. She wouldn't speak like you do."
"Perhaps you are correct...It might be that your friend really did die back then, and that I am just a close imitation of her, or perhaps the blessed Zhen'qual decided to turn me into something far greater than I used to be. Pondering this is pointless Chirrin. What is done is done. And besides, Zhen'qual has granted us an eternity during which we can get to know each other again."
"No. You are the eternal one. You are the wormborn. You are the one Zhen'qual will bring back to life. The rest of us will just join her spirit upon death."
"But isn't that the eternity I mentioned? Eternal communion with each other an the Hazuvaat in the afterlife, isn't that what we all desire?"
"No- Yes...I..Please don't leave Knixi, I..we can't bear to loose you again. The infidels don't know our ways, they might kill you outright. We are different from them, how could you live amongst the defiling brutes?"
"I do not know, but Zhen'qual will protect me from harm. It is touching to see how much you care, but I am afraid that the time for me to go has dawned."
" ..But-!" she interrupts Chirrin by grabbing his hand, and slipping out her neural tongue, which connects with his one.
"No more words Chirrin, everything that can be said has already been said. You can't change that which is dictated by the Hazuvaat. Know that I am not abandoning you, I will return with knowledge that will benefit the whole tribe", with these thoughts and reassuring emotions she disconnects from him, picks up her pouch and starts walking from the chamber.
"Farewell my friend! I will never forget how well you took care of me when I was younger! Tell the rest of the tribe not to worry about me!"

The religion spreads in a way that is unexpected. Instead of outright reverence of the worms, many of the other tribes do begin to view them as guardians and kindly teachers. They occasionally leave a carcass or great piles of food scraps in the common oasis areas. Knixi has learned much from the old warriors. The locaion of the Quake worms has been revealed to her, but for her the quest for knowledge was not yet done. Using her new form and abilities she nerve linked with a traveling suzumou merchant and dominated his mind, with the information of the quake worms, he would take it back to the godworm and share the data. They were indeed in the obsidian fields, and they displayed cunning on par with a sentient. In an attempt to hatch the jet wesper eggs a small fire was placed underneath them while they themselves were placed in a pot of sand on top of the fire...it turns out jet wesper eggs are delicious. Thankfully about 6 of the larvae at the very top did hatch and were saved before being roasted. They need constant care and feeding, but they will grow and breed in time. The Zu-nul attempt to reinforce their storage burrows with the usmal cement, so that the burrogs would have harder time to burrow through.

Zhen'qual attempts to produce more offspring with the landworm seed. The first batch of 3 only resulted in one viable child in the end. She inseminates 3 new eggs to see how their development goes this time. She also tries to apply some hormonal control over their development, based on what she learned from the previous batch.

The Zu-nul attempt to build trading burrows near the road, which are hidden under the sand. They think that they can use these burrows to store and hide valuable trading goods in case of a need to hide them, or the caravan has a shortage of certain materials.

The farmers at the oasis attempt to expand their farms, so that they could support even bigger gill worm population and thus, the Zu-nul would have even more food.

He had experienced much in his travels alongside the caravans, things a leader must know.

A mystic, a Koburrog far beyond the years one normally lived, looked up to the man from where he was meditating. "I'm sorry. Mystic Istral passed away three years ago," he said with a sigh at the end. "Might I ask why you came to speak with her?"
"Before I joined the caravans as a guard years ago, I came here to ask what the future had in store for me. She had said that I would become a leader of our people."

The hybrids are less then amazing, all slightly runty but otherwise a smooth blend of landworm and sandworm, not like their tyrant brother, all females too. an average brood of children, the children are still morphable and with more genetic material infused they may become more spectacular, but that usually has a savage cost of fratricide. This grim suggestion gives the Hitangan mystics great pause

In the Zu-Nul territory, the Mystic Jambu divulges her knowledge of the worms, which to the suzumou seems pathetic. The Hitangan see them as rulers of the earth and sand, best to be respected and avoided lest they turn their destructive powers on the Hitangan. She wishes to know more

"Have our warriors train amongst the Hou, their varied talents will help us overcome this crisis" Kuat commands his men. Hitangan devil rider units are formed. Artillery commanders are elected. The hu-raan learn to ride the ambush houzi as mounts. The air is electric, the Orange tufted VietKoBurrong who abandoned their ways for a more peaceful life once more apply face paint, and arm themselves with their mortar and rocket launchers. The rough green clothes have become a standard of the Hu-Raan army, cultural absorbtion goes both ways. Earth work trenches are dug, traps are laid around remove villages. It is strange to see old enemies working side by side, but it is unknown if the Zu-nul will be able to accept their hated enemies as allies. The perpetrators of those crimes so long ago are dead and forgotten, but old hate may still burn.
    ----------------------------------------------------
The ages have been rough to the tribe, but the Zu-nul have pulled back from the brink of extinction time and time again. Now stuck between an alien culture threatening to engulf their ways, a godworm's machinations to create a genetic dynasty, and an unstoppable horde closing in from all sides they must stand of die. the jetwesper handlers are now known as wesper jocks, their lifestyle puts them on the fringe of Zu-nul society but they like it that way. they still serve, but in their own way. They live for the rush of the wind, the roar of their wespers jet, of the crack from breaking the sound barrier during a dive...of the feel of a knife ripping flesh. Their practice duels are like watching poetry in motion, if the poetry was death metal.

They start revising their sand traps, which should work like sand-lion pits. Loose sand in a cone like slope, that makes it impossible for the runners to escape from, and allowing the sandworms to kill them easily.

The Zu-nul efforts go relatively well. Even though the wespar swarm managed to snatch a considerable amount of food, the suzumou still managed to grab enough of it to last for a while.

With the aid of the worms, the sand traps work splendidly. The vibrations caused by the worm make the sand extremely loose, allowing for an easy construction of multiple sand traps.

The small suzumou force backed up by the sandworms manage to drive off the majority of the sandonis from the patch of the oasis their now destroyed farms were. They immediately begin to reinforce and fortify the premises, knowing that the sandonis can return at any moment. They construct traps and tunnels, so that they can have a better fighting chance against the ravenous swarm. The crops are planted too, but it is a secondary objective.

The efforts of the suzumou to reach out and reinforce their trading posts again are met with walls of chitinous beaks and blades. Those who tried were quickly devoured. It seems that the sandoni swarms are following the old trade routes, slowly encircling the western settlements. Because of this reason, the weaponry could not be acquired.

The Ry'lai battle group uses the berserkers charge as a spear head for their movements. However, as the berserkers charge ends the Airships begin to ascend. They will hold off the bugs as long as possible. A flare is sent off for the fallen comrades.

As soon as the sun sets the Airships quickly are beset on by wespar swarms. Very quickly the rear guard is seen with large holes punched through its armor. It goes down and while the crew tries to escape the wespar swarms becomes a purple wall. No survivors...

As dawn break the entire group is struggling already. Only the lead tree is doing well its webseers still keeping it healthy. To make progress there will need to be distractions. The wounded ships offer to distract the main forces of the bugs. The main group needs to make it to the Zu-Nul.

5, 1, 1 they split. The two distraction ships breaking from formation and going east and west. Their firebombs draw large swaths of bugs attentions underneath them. Meanwhile houzi on the larger group keep wespar swarms off of them, but not entirely. Another ship in the main batallion is punctured its crew only partially surviving.

In the distance the distraction ships can be seen but they are both obviously going down. Fires can be seen all over the desert and the group of 4 that was once 8 remembers their comrades losses.

rolling to see if the 4 remaining trees make it with their crews, they should be 50% of the way there by now.

As the Zu-nul are having a shortage of both proper materials and time, the fortifications they manage to build are quite flimsy.
They instead focus on building their traps and tunnels. Similar sand traps than they made in their village are also dug here. They also dig an extensive tunnel network under the perimeter. They plan to use these tunnels to move unseen and continue to supply the main village, even if the farms were surrounded by the blade runners.
The planting of the crops goes well. In the long run, if the war escalates, the farms will allow the suzumou to supply themselves and their god with food for longer.

In her studies, Knixi finds that the Hitangan don't know much about the blade runners, as they aren't native to the obsidian fields. The tidbits of information that they do know are quite interesting however. It seems that the dreadful houyi creatures that still daunt her have in fact been in a constant state of war with the blade runners for thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of years. This information doesn't really help her at aiding her tribe. She hopes that the rescue fleet Ry'Lai will be able to aid her people more than she can right now.

The group of 4 ships find that a tighter formation allows them to break through the lines of the bugs. There are casualties but nowhere near as many as the first half of the journey. The trees are kept healthy by the redoubled efforts of the webseers.

The lem gliders return with reports of what seem to be giant pits, each covered in the blood of sand runners and titandonis. The group must be nearing the Zu-Nul. Before long the Hitangan have guided the group to the old position of Zhen'qual only to find it abandoned. The area collapsed and what appear to be tunnels leading to the dark. Flares are dropped but no one knows what to do. The ship will defend this position while the webseers see if they can locate the Zu-nul.

Thickblood's new keepers are much more capable and add a welcomed addition to his body. They have fed him much information about the tiny lives of what he had considered food. The sight of the floating trees leave the Zu-nul in confused awe. Though they had heard of rumors about these flying trees and their inhabitants, they had never actually seen them.

Their aid is accepted, but for now, the suzumou keep to themselves, as the war has driven their xenophobia to the extreme.

Meanwhile, the few suzumou who answered the call of Thickblood investigate their new host. The constant data feed transmitted by the massive flying creature has broadened their view of the word significantly. The desert seems to be so small from this high up. To some of them, this has been mentally devastating. To see how small they really are, and how insignificant their lives have been, has caused them to break down. To others, this has been an eye opening experience. The godworms they used to worship clearly aren't the true masters of the world. How could they be, they have never seen the world the way the suzumou now see.
The some members of the group start calling themselves Inzi-fen, to distance themselves from their former lives.

They also attempt to breed and lay eggs in the flesh of their new host.
(Note that Thickblood's connection to the suzumou isn't as deep as the wormgod's as the relationship between the suzumou and the sandworms is a product of eons of evolution. Thickblood can't infuse memories to the Zu-nul, nor store them, nor is he able to produce wormborn equivalents.)

Here is a mock up of how the main swarm is moving, or at least planning to move.
The reason for the blade runners to push to the desert is, at least in my head, their attempt to flank and avoid the wild houyi armies (purple lines), who have been pushing them back. (Another potential threat perhaps, who is to say that all the houyi wish to become allies with the tribes?)

The desert isn't the natural habitat of the blade runners, their physique is ill suited for it as they have evolved to move swiftly in the plains and rocky terrain. But the roads made by the tribes allow the swarms to move much swifter than before through the desert. This is why the the swarm has followed the roads. They attempt to break the houyi lines by attacking them from both front and behind.

    This isn't official off course.

The pusmal numbers are growind underground without even knowing about the struggle in the surface. The second hive was built directly under the Gorrirogs road and the pusmal warriors tend to patrol there. This has caused it to become dangerous to travel through it.

With the second Mother (matriarch queen) the number of Pusmals have grown greatly. This forces them to expand even more their undergound empire. Perkunas is concerned about the eastern mountains and the hard ground there that prevents the expansion to continue there. This causes him to try breeding better miners to get through the hard earth. Not far from the southern fortress, a Hu-raan outpost holds the line, but barely. Every passing day, more and more waves of bugs push forward. Food is low, and the soldiers are running low on moral. At any moment they too could be overrun.
"Legatus, what is the status on holding off the bugs?"
"Go look yourself. I don't have time to deal with new recrui- Y-your Majesty! Uh, not good sire. Every day they push the line closer. I fear we'll be overrun by the week's end."
The king and legatus walked out to a balcony where the battle could be seen while discussing the situation at hand. Hunastrus came with supplies of food, ramel armor, weapons, and reinforcements for the outpost.
"It's odd. No matter what we do, or where we go, creatures such as these always seem to follow our people," said Hunastrus, examining a mounted mortar. "Especially the worms."
The legatus looked over to his king with a somewhat confused expression. "I mean no disrespect, but why is it you wish to talk about such things right now?"
"Because... Because for the first time ever, I hope this to be true."
Suddenly, King Hunastrus took hold of the mortar cannon, and fired into the swarms.

Yeah, but my focus in the characters causes me to lag behind the other tribes. Basically, while the other tribes build stuff that would take decades to complete such as massive fortresses and so on, my characters feel like they live in separated from the time line of the world. I managed to deal with the problem better with the Nad'lun in my opinion at least. With the Zu-nul, during the time that it took for reincarnated Knixi to spawn the Hitangan managed to build fortresses and other villages, if one based the time-line in the chronological order of the updates. That is just silly, which forces me to retcon the character narrative into more sensible time-frames.

We moved to the middle continent which is dominated by a vast desert. The chuflouz from the old world became the Ry'lai. Glunds became large ape like Gorrirogs and small kobold like Koburrogs. The weskar became the Flying plant air craft carriers of the sky, and a smaller sand wurm worshipper people called the suzumou. There is another fast evolving tribal creature known as the pusmal but I forget what they came from.

Along side the tribes we have starship trooper bugs, with some of those bugs shooting acid, plant bug hybrids the size of a large building, hydralisks in four varieties, a large javelin spitting disjointed jawed monstrosity, living artillery pieces, land wurms that create localized static storms when they burst from the ground, and ferrets with wolverine style claws that turn invisible.

we have how many more continents and biomes left to go?
    >> nongent 05/02/12(Wed)23:44 No.18956629
oh- a warning to players during the tribal era that they need to be semi active less they face extinction, and an understanding that there is no post schedule, just to do it. last thing im trying to figure out, is how do we keep players in the loop of when a new thread shows up, is there some search feature for 4 chan i dont know about? I just have to dredge thru the pages., and not everyone is willing to do that.

I'm open to all possibilities. While war and stuff is a-ok, it seems like people want a break from all that.
Thus, I propose that there can only be one sentient species in the East Continent... but a lot of dangerous creatures. Maybe.
I'm envisioning this world's modern era would be vastly different from ours.

Two more continents, with probably 3 or 4 biomes left.
As for the inactive tribes, they don't have to be decimated or something, maybe becoming a cultural minority or assimilated to a nearby/neighboring 'big' tribe.

As for searching for new threads, I usually go to foolz archive and search for 'evolution'. Gives less stuff to browse. Once I find the right thread I copypaste the number and open the tg page.

I don't know when exactly, because next week I'll be moving offices and get comfy with the new building before I can refocus my creativity on this again. So, maybe thursday or friday next week.

You guys could continue Econet for that period, though, if you want.

I usually spot these threads by using /tg/ catalog.
You can see all the threads of the board from it.

I wonder how I will be able to pass my time while waitin for the next thread, seeing that I have mostly spent my time drawing and otherwise participating in these threads for the past few weeks.
Ah well, a week of waiting isn't so bad.

Imagine an island, all by itself in the middle of the ocean, good? It is tropical with no predators and a strange array of life...and its here. >>18960430 we are gonna use this thread to hang out, and just have fun. its set in the evo setting, but there is nothing dire or pressing about it. no tribal stage either. not with this one. anyway, take care. and enjoy your tropical vacation.

Now that there is this pause it would be good time to edit the wiki page. I don't know how so i'm trying to delegate it to you.
