"Alright, well see if you can scrape together that platinum ammo and make sure your A10 is loaded, maybe snag yourself some platinum rounds if you can. It should be a quick flight back to the states in this thing so expect me shortly."

"Got it, I'll get everything set." Diego acknowledges before hanging up.

    "Mortal."

You look over your shoulder and spot Kiara behind you, watching.

"Plane should be ready in a minute or so."

"Good. We have little time to waste. I trust you've already started setting plans into place?"

"As much as I can with what little we have to go on, yeah." You nod.

"Yo! When am I going to get these destructo fists?" Sarna tugs on the back of Kiara's dress, and lets out an "eep!" as the older witch whirls around.

"Not yet, before the fight. Stop being so impatient! Ugh, children..."

The pilot finishes his last check before approaching the steps.

"We're all set for takeoff sir, please take a seat and relax. It should be a quick flight, weather looks good once we're past France."

You let him by and follow him inside. The interior of the Learjet is nice, plush. Sarna is already halfway through a pile of assorted snacks in front of her, Kiara watching with a look of displeasure.

    "Takeoff time ladies, belt up."

You follow your own advice and take the seat across from the witches. Normal crews don't let you smoke on the plane, brainwashed crews don't seem to care. You light up.

"Did you ever hear back from Damon?" You ask Sarna.

"Eh? Naw, that will take a while to find him." She shakes her head.

"Well I've got Diego snagging me some platinum ammunition, and he's bringing a ground attack jet along. Will platinum effect this guy like it does to you, Kiara?"

The witch thinks for a moment, before nodding.

"He isn't immune, and it should effect him just as much if not more than me. The trouble will be hitting him, he isn't going to worry about keeping his magic low-key. Expect tornadoes made of fire, flying boulders, the like."

"Well that just sounds downright peachy..." You groan, rubbing your left temple and taking a long pull of your Marlboro.

"It also means I won't be holding back. Its going to show up for sure on the Order's detection system, so our only shot is to finish it quickly and leave even faster." Kiara glances over at the side of the jet as the crew closes the door.

Well, given how deep we all are in this I'd like you to give me his story, how exactly his body jumping works, how powerful a wizard he is, why you hate him so much and what we should expect from him in terms of plots.

You know him better than the rest of us, how does he think and what can we expect from him.

    Let's strategize.

He'll be expecting Kiara and ourselves to show up and have a magic fight.

He won't expect Diego to fly from over a mountain and cover the area with BRRRRRRT.

Once they get started fighting, he's going to crank up his defenses. We'll need to use our weaponry either before the battle starts to see if we can sucker-punch him, or after Kiara has worn him down a bit so that it can get through his defenses.

I'm voting for early. Kiara should talk him up a bit, keep his attention, then we empty our platinum bullets into him and have Diego pull a fly-by.
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/22/12(Sun)18:05 No.18819601
"Well, we're on the plane now, Kiara. I think I'm entitled to some answers. Maybe start off with who this guy is, why he hates you, what kind of sorcery he's going to pull." You give Kiara a hard stare.

She stiffens for a moment, before sighing and nodding.

"You're right, I do owe you some answers. Arcinter was one of the Magos of Atlantis, the leaders of the city. Atlantis, at its time, was one of the most powerful gathering of magic users in the world. Arcinter was at the head of it all, the forefront of the Magos. Consequently, the most powerful of the five. As you know, his immortality is different than most. Rather than undying, he can simply take over a new host when his old body is near death. I'm not sure of the details, but I'm hoping that platinum will hinder this ability." Kiara fills you in, her eyes locked with your own as she talks. "As far as his actual combat methods, he prefers to rely on long distance elemental attacks. He won't be stupid enough to try to fight me with my own strength, though, so expect him to switch things up. As disgraceful as it is, necromancy won't be off his playlist."

    "So he's powerful?"

"Powerful enough that the destruction of the city didn't kill him off, when it sank under a deluge unlike anything seen by this world since. Powerful enough that at the time, I only won by a hair. I may be the most powerful witch on the planet, but Arcinter is a close second in terms of ability and experience. The only catch with his immortality is that he has to re-power his new form. It doesn't contain enough magic for him to wield his abilities to their fullest extent."
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/22/12(Sun)18:05 No.18819604
    "Think we can take him?"

"If only it were that simple. If we do just attack him straight on, it is likely he'll just jump to a new host. Either we destroy him absolutely before he can do it, or we find a way to contain him as he attempts to switch hosts." She explains, a scenario you'd already thought of.

"Well we'll have to figure out some way to do one of those. So if he's this capable, what can I expect out of you?"

"Me? Without my body, I doubt I could stand up to him in a straight up fight. You may be incredibly tough for a human, but against a magic user of his caliber, your strength won't be enough to hold out. Sarna is powerful for what she is, but he's on an entirely different level. If we have to fight him head on, our only chance is going to be to hold him down long enough for me to drain him of all power." Kiara's eyes narrow, "And that is only something we should not wish to attempt, a last resort, if you will."

"Why a last resort? That seems like our best shot."

"It is, if you're willing to sacrifice your friend." Kiara nods.

So each time he body-hops, he has to start over from square one.

Would it be a good idea to have a host body nearby for him, then hand that over to the Order for rending?
    >> Anonymous 04/22/12(Sun)18:10 No.18819648
Is it possible to wear him down as much as safely possible, then waste him with our platinum ammo?

Or should we open up with the platinum and hope it weakens him enough for you to finish the job?

We can also have Diego strafe in his A-10 and cause a significant amount of damage. Would this be more helpful earlier or later?
    >> Anonymous 04/22/12(Sun)18:14 No.18819684
    >>18819604
By friend I'm guessing you mean Diego, how would this tactic actually work.

How much damage would a giant pile of platinum 30mm rounds fired from a gun the size of a VW bug do to him?

What are the common flaws in his plans, are there things he tends to overlook, on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being a humble monk and 10 being you how prideful and boastful is he? How easy is he to goad into misaction?
    >> Anonymous 04/22/12(Sun)18:17 No.18819705
So I'm thinking keep Diego and Sarna in reserve and maybe have them both hit him at the same time if we can get an opening.

Also we should try to get him to release conspiracybro BEFORE flaming tornadoes and shit start getting around.

The platinum rounds are for our rifle.

There's no way in fuck we'd be able to acquire platinum rounds for an A-10. I'm surprised we can even get them for us, personally.

And I think the friend to be sacrificed is conspiracybro.

    >>18819719
It being Conspiracy Bro makes far more sense, I wasn't thinking. Well even if they aren't platinum i think the A-10 rounds ought to cause some serious fucking damage, it doesn't matter how mundane it is, if it can bisect a tank it can bisect you.
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/22/12(Sun)18:32 No.18819856
    "A friend?"

"The one he has hostage. If we disregard him and simply hit the place with everything we've got, he'll have no choice but to jump to your friend. And if we keep hitting..."

"He won't have enough power to do anything." You finish. That plan doesn't sound like something you would like to do, but it is an option.

"So we could potentially have a weak host body nearby and force him into taking it, before handing him off to the Order to let them rend him, right?"

Kiara sits back and thinks your question over for a moment, before nodding slowly.

"That would work, but only if you're willing to submit a person to such a fate."

"Ah, well yeah..." You frown. "Well is the platinum ammo has good effect, should we hit him early on and let you finish him off from there, or wait until you've got him in position and hit him then?" You ask.

"A good question, and one I don't really have an answer for. If he and I get into a confrontation, at the height our power allows... It might tip in my favor if he hasn't been keeping up on training. At the same time, if the platinum has good effect, it might weaken him enough for me to finish off quickly, perhaps before he has time to find a new host." Kiara sighs, sitting back and shaking her head. "There is just too much we don't know. We can't afford to let him slip away and keep coming after us, but this isn't going to be easy to fight him now, either."
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/22/12(Sun)18:32 No.18819867
"Think he's got some kind of plan?"

"Think? No, mortal, I don't even have to think, I know. He wouldn't have waited so patiently if he didn't have a trap to spring."

"So we just have to plan to circumvent his plan, eh? How much damage do you think a 30mm round from that A10 would do?" You extinguish the cigarette in a pop bottle that Sarna already polished off.

"A bit, perhaps, if Diego can hit him. Arcinter isn't just going to be ignoring him, letting him fly overhead and take potshots. Your friend will only get one pass, two at the most. After that, it will be too dangerous to have him loitering around."

Damn, I dislike this guy more and more, as much as I'd like to keep Kenji alive we may be forced to sacrifice him for the sake of the world. Depressing, but it may be our best choice, we can't have this guy running amok.

Though that might be part of his plan.

Does he have any weaknesses, any subjects that make him mad and unable to think or follow his plan properly?
    >> Anonymous 04/22/12(Sun)18:48 No.18820011
We can't forget that for all our planning, he'll have done some too.

There'll likely be magical detectors to tell him how many enemies are around, maybe even some kind of constant damage field surrounding the whole are.

Can we pull the magic seagull trick here to confuse him? Or will he be able to tell the difference?

And if he can, we could rig up the seagulls to explode and have them kamikaze him.
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/22/12(Sun)18:53 No.18820052
"Does he have any weaknesses we can exploit? Some subject that might piss him off, make him trip up and make a mistake?"

"His weakness was his reliance on the ocean, he wasn't good at drawing power from the land. Whether or not this still holds true is anyone's guess. As far as goading him into making a mistake, he won't be that easily had. Arcinter isn't a fool, he is calculating, he will have a plan." Kiara tells you as the plane starts to taxi.

"Great. So I won't just be able to make jokes about Atlantis and get him to do something stupid?"

"It would be highly unlikely." Kiara nods.

"Have you got any good news for me, Sarna? Any band of munchkins looking for a fight?"

"Hmm?" Sarna looks up, chocolate bar jammed in her mouth. She swallows quickly before shaking her head. "Damon was the only one I found who would be any good in a fight like this. Most magic users haven't had enough time to reach the kind of ability we would need, the Order picks them off before they get a chance. Sure there are exceptions like Damon and myself, but we're few and far between."

You sigh and sit back in your seat as you feel the g's of the plane as it picks up speed and starts to lift off the ground. Being in the air suddenly gives you an idea.
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/22/12(Sun)18:54 No.18820059
    "Seagulls." You state.

"Seagulls, mortal?" Kiara raises an eyebrow as though considering whether you've finally lost your sanity.

"Yeah, seagulls. We tricked the Order by using them, would that work again? Against Arcinter?"

"Against him? No, he will be able to sense me coming just as I will sense him. However, if he's decided to rely on any exterior systems... Its worth a shot, at least. It certainly can't hurt." Kiara shrugs.

    "Seagull suicide bombers?"

"He'd never let them get close enough." Kiara shakes her head.

Bad idea in general. They'd be able to find us as well, and they'd loot all the info conspiracy buddy has.

Arcinter would just kill him and run, leaving us with nothing.

    We gotta do this ourselves.

    Okay, so my plan is:

Get there, Kiara gets his attention
    Diego BRRRRRRTs the fucker
    Kiara hits immediately after
While he's busy with Kiara, make headshots with plat ammo
Continue taking potshots, Diego waits for an opening before BRRRRRT-ing again. Probably won't get another chance so drop any bombs he's got too.

"Well it may be worth thinking about some way to use the Order before he gets it in his mind to. They would certainly cause chaos when they show up, but I'd rather it be on our terms when they do."

"I don't want them showing up without us knowing when and how." Kiara nods.

"But if we just call him up, our friend is probably going to end up dead in the cross fire. There has to be a better way..."

"Or you send them off on a goose chase, keep them out of your hair." Sarna pipes up.

    "Got something in mind?"

"Well sure big bro! We just make it seem like we're going some place else, draw them there, and they won't have time to react before we've got Arcinter and are already gone." Sarna explains with over the top hand gestures.

"You make it sound easy..." You frown.

"It would be! We just irradiate the plane after we land, and send it somewhere it will get picked up fast. We just have to use enough power to make it convincing that it's Ruin and by the time they find out its a fake...BANG!" Sarna slams her fist down on the table, "Well ok, not bang, but we'll already be gone from where Arcinter is."

"That's not... A bad plan, to be honest. How come you hate kids? She had a good idea." You look at Kiara and tilt your head at Sarna.

Honestly as far as children go, this one is better than most. She found us Disco Wizard, and I doubt you would put him under your classification of annoying kids.

That and when she isn't hellbent on killing you she's pretty adorable.

Besides one of the main reasons I'm fighting the order with you is so that these kids as you call them have a chance to grow up instead of getting rended, they deserve a chance to be kids and to naturally grow up into proper adults.

"Kids aren't all bad, you know. After Sarna here stopped trying to kill us, she became a pretty big help." You smile at Sarna who grins back, a piece of chocolate on one of her teeth.

"Children are disgusting." Kiara folds her arms.

"I don't think so. Besides, we're going to be giving a lot of kids a real chance at life, free of the Order."

"Hmm? Maybe I should just go into hiding, then." Kiara smirks.

"You couldn't do that and you know it." You snort, laying across the row of seats now that the plane has leveled off. "Wake me up an hour out, I'm going to get some sleep."

It takes you a while to drift off. You're half awake, listening to Sarna prod Kiara into conversation. They talk about magic for the most part, things you don't really understand. Not that you mind, as long as they keep getting along well enough to function.

You don't wake up until Kiara shakes you roughly twice, refusing to let you go back to sleep with another "Five more minutes, witchy woman..."

A cup of fresh coffee, a bagel, and a few cigarettes. Qualifies as a better breakfast than you've had in a while, you suppose.

"We're landing near Miami. I'll contact the Magos to let him know we're back in the states and ready to meet him. Get anything you need, we won't be staying long." Kiara points out the window, and already you can see land below.

You strap yourself back in at the crew's insistence, mostly out of habit. You're smart enough to know that a seatbelt won't matter if the plane actually goes down.

"How close to Miami are we?" You ask Sarna.

"Close. This is the private airfield that Damon secured before we left for Europe. There isn't even a ground crew here."

Close means you'll be able to pick up your rounds from Diego and see what he's got for himself. It will also give you the chance to let your dad know that you plan on showing up for the memorial. You aren't sure which one you want to do first.

The wheels touch down and the engines whine as the plane slows quickly on the runway, forcing you forward in your seat. Kiara doesn't seem affected, and you ponder for a moment if she can just pick and choose when to seem tangible.

After the plane stops, the crew gets the ramp open and the three of you pile out quickly. Sarna sprints around the plane a few times to "Work out the kinks!" while you and Kiara just trudge toward a waiting, empty car. A modern sedan; plastic, boring, soulless.

"Nice try." You push Sarna out of the driver's seat and assume it for yourself, despite her protests that she can, in fact, drive.

You do your best to put the sedan through its paces, which it seems to thoroughly lack. Bored after just a few moments, you sigh and just set the cruise control. It won't take you long to get to your dad's airfield, and you'll have him and Diego meet you there.

The call only takes a moment, and both agree to meet you. That settled, you crush the phone and scatter the remains out the window.
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/22/12(Sun)19:54 No.18820652
Traffic isn't heavy, which means you make good time. The area outside of Miami has plenty of routes, and you know the exact one to take to minimize the drive time.

At long last, eager to ditch the dull car, you pull into the long road leading to the airfield. After flooring it and only managing to hit ninety, you skid onto the runway and slide up next to the impressive beast resting there.

The mighty Thunderbolt II, the Warthog. The A10.

Diego's already waiting for you, checking over the missiles mounted under his plane's wings. He ducks out from underneath the wing as you approach.

    "That didn't take you long."

"You know how I drive. So this is it, eh?" You give a long look of appreciation at the plane. It's most prominent feature, the gau-8, clearly visible.

"Yeah. Not as fast as I'd like, doesn't even have afterburners. Still, I did get it for free. Well, free plus a few bullets..." Diego smirks.

    "Good buy?"

"Depends. How does 4200 rounds per minute sound to you?"

"Like a whole lot of "fuck you"." You grin.

"Sure hope so. Only managed to plate three hundred of the 30mm rounds in platinum. Even that was expensive. Your order was far from cheap, too. Your dad fronted the bill without asking why, but I'm sure he'd like to know." Diego nods his head over in the direction of a table. Seated at it, your aging dad and a group of his old KGB friends.

Kiara floats up next to you, leaning against the plane and staring into the sky. The sun reflects off her purple eyes, which glance to meet your own.

"He's waiting for us, in Georgia. Arcinter gave the coordinates, which your friend here can use. We won't need them as much, I should be able to detect him once we get closer. That is, if all that platinum ammo you ordered doesn't affect me. Leave it in the trunk." She points toward a wooden box set on the tarmac. You figure she can already sense what is inside.

"Right." You nod, and watch as she pushes herself off the plane to follow you.

As you approach the table, your dad glances over his shoulder and waves.

"Last my boy! I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I really would like to know why you have my best cleaner loading an attack plane and borrowing a substantial amount of money for you..." He glances at his friends seated around the table, "Though if you'd prefer, we can speak in private..."

"No problem." One of his friends nod, and the group gets up from the table. "We've been wanting to check out this warthog anyways."

Your dad looks back to you after watching his friends head off toward the A10.

"Son, I've known you since before you even left your mother. I know enough about you to be certain that something is going on, something much more than anything you've alluded to thus far. I'm not going to force you to tell me, but I would be lying if I said I didn't want to know."

He paid for this shit, and that's impressive. It also makes him directly involved with our situation.

Might as well tell him the basics.

"Well dad, I'm being hunted day and night by these nutjobs who go around butchering small children. One of my best allies against them has been captured by an enemy of a powerful friend of mine, and they're threatening to kill him. I need this to bust in there and get him out.

Oh yeah. My powerful ally is actually an ancient witch who revived my corpse. We need the platinum because it fucks magic, and the other guy has loads of it."

Father, you are not going to believe me, what I am going to tell you is fucking absurd, but it is true.

Before you hear this I want you to promise me to stay out of it, for your own safety, lay low, go to mom's anniversary and keep your fucking head down.

Magic is real, witches and wizards are real, I have an ancient witch shacked up in my skull, there is an ancient order of witch hunters who track young magic users down and rip their soul, mind and body apart, I am hunting them down and retrieving my head witch's body currently.

The reason I am in the states is because an Atlantean wizard has a grudge against me and is holding a friend of mine hostage.

Dad, do not try to use her as a way to increase your power or for your own benefits. Ceasar tried that and it did not work well for him.

He has supported us without question so far, he deserves some answers.

You sigh and take a seat beside your dad, pouring yourself a few fingers of bourbon, as well as a few for your father. You push aside the diet coke in front of him and set the glass down.

"Trust me, you're going to need it. There's no way in hell you're going to believe one word I'm saying, but Diego will be able to confirm it." You take a long drink, "So before I say anything, I have a few conditions. One, you don't get any more involved than you already are. The last thing I need is to worry about your safety. Two, you don't try to play the situation for your own gains. What I'm involved in... It's complicated, and often lethal. If you won't abide by these conditions, I can't say anything else."

Your dad frowns as you talk, but nods his head.

"This is your show, if you need attack planes and helicopters, I don't even think I want to get involved. Still, I want to know what my son is involved in." He nods again, "I'll abide by your conditions."

"Are you alright with this, Kiara?" You ask the witch mentally.

"As long as he doesn't do anything stupid? I couldn't care less what you tell him." She shrugs and sits down next to you.

"I'm involved in something that has been going on for a long time, dad. An old fight between two groups, one magic, one not. There is an Order within the church, or with the church, that has been hunting down and more or less killing magic users for the last several hundred years. Marco killed me, actually killed me, and dumped me into the ocean. I was... Saved, by a witch, an immortal one. Her mind was trapped in the ocean, and Diego and I got her back her soul. Now we just need her body."

You continue to sum up everything your dad needs to know, as well as warning him about not getting involved or doing anything stupid. He nods in understanding.

"So now you get it, what Diego is helping me with, why we need the platinum."

"I get it." Your dad nods again, "I've wondered, for a long time, who the strange men were that took away children in the night, when I was in Afghanistan. This Order, it seems to fit the bill. I just have one question, can you show me? Some kind of proof? Something I can see?"

Before you can open your mouth, your dad's jaw drops slightly and his eyes widen. He looks from the seat next to you, back to you, back again to the seat, and down at the glass in his hand. His brow furrows for a moment, before he laughs.

"Well she's gotten you into some shit, but at least she's pretty, eh?" He chortles into the bourbon as he takes a drink.

"I'm an old man, son. An old man with an empire and nothing to show for it except things." Your dad's eyes narrow slightly, sadly, as he looks into the bottom of his glass. "A man isn't remembered by his things, son. He's remembered for what he did, for the legacy he left behind, for the family he left behind." He sets the glass down.

"I may be old, but I'm not old enough to not be able to see the scale of what you're talking about. You have a chance to change the world, and though I don't know if it will be for the better or for the worse... I want you to see it through." He nods at you, before looking over at Kiara. "And though I don't know who you are, what you are... I want you to take good care of my boy here."

"I think... You're maybe misunderstanding the relationship here, dad..." You caution him.

Your dad boasts, slamming back his drink, before pounding it down onto the table.

"Now I know I said I wouldn't get involved, and I won't if you don't want me to. But I'm not going to lie, I want to help. I haven't had a good fight in a decade or more, and you know I'm as good a shot as I've always been. A private army that I could gather would be too obvious, but perhaps... Also, we just GAVE them info on how to tear the church's funding families apart, what's to say Damon isn't at conspiracybros place already, and we walk into a 3v1(.5)?
