    Spider Quest time!

Sup/tg/ contains the earlier threads under the spider quest tag.

    1d4chan page on this quest:
    http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Spider_Quest

You are a little female jumping spider named Bibi currently living inside a hole in a tree, with your mate Dorpou, your eight young siblings, your newborn brood of spiderlings and your pet centipede Isaac.
In addition to your family, the hole also is a home for old spider named Ranou, who agreed to let you stay there, a honorable warrior ladybug named Andor and a light headed parasitic wasp you befriended and named Chyrsi "Bubbles" McTitty. You also managed to convince the massive ancestor worshiping dragonfly you captured to work for you, who you then named Kahless Nidhogg.

In the last session you delivered the nectar to the bees, as you had agreed before. You then left to prepare your next shipment, that will occur within two days.
During these two days, you also built armor for Andor and Kahless, but you were unable to finish them properly due the lack of chitin plates.
You have two partly built armors, which only grant partial protection. You could salvage the other one to finish the other.

You also explored the surroundings of the tree and discovered a large thing made from some thin and colored material stuck in the higher branches of the tree.
In addition, you reinforced your nest's defense and taught your siblings how to trow nets.

Unbeknownst to you, the situation within the bee hive quickly escalated and headed to an unexpected direction.
Now the two days are up, and you need to make the delivery again...

    >How this works.
Suggest an action and then depending how feasible it is, the spider will act.

You are just an ordinary spider in moder day earth. You have no special powers, other than your intellect.

Making silk costs proteins, which you can restore by eating. Your mate has his own protein reserves. You both have currently 100% if your reserves.

You can upgrade your nest with silk.Your nest currently has the following improvements:
    >Small rudimentary web nest:
    >Storage chamber
-20 units of food, 0 chitin plates, 3 metal shards, 1 chitin armor, 2 unfinished chitin armors.
    >8 slingshots.
    >Trap webs near the base of the tree.
    >Expanded Aphid pen.
-5 aphids. Can hold up to 10 aphids.
    >Warning web at the entrance to the tree hole and warning lines.
    >Drop down net attached to the ceiling at the entrance.
    >Reinforced sticky webs at the entrance.

There is also a bird's nest which contains all kinds of stuff.

    Your current skills:
    >Efficient web architecture.
-The protein cost of your silk structures is reduced by 5 units. Structures costing 5 units will still cost 1 unit.

You also need to feed your family.
Your siblings, brood and Isaac combined require 15 units of food per day. They are fed for this day however. You and Dorpou require 4 units of food combined.

You are currently packing up the new nectar shipment. Dorpou is returning from a hunt, Ranou is giving the scarecrow prototype some final touches, Bubbles is playing with your siblings, Andor is out hunting aphids and Kahless is waiting for your signal to take off.
    What shall you do?

There is no chance to be allies with the ants. The bees may have fucked things up but they were really the only chance at an allied nation. We should focus on building up our nation for now.

We already killed ants to free Andor, and even if we had not, it doesn't seem all too likely the ants would be interested nor benefit from an alliance with anyone. They seem territorial, hostile, and most of all, already pretty damn powerful.

And again, judging from previous encounters, I'd say we're already at odds with them.

Afterward gather up a bunch of poison and nectar (empty the reserves). Once that's done take it to whatever drop off location it is and maybe get Bubbles to spy on the wasps or the Bees to see if the Bee's plan will work.

While the bee / wasp thing is important, domestic duties are a calling.

Overall we seemed to have agreed that letting the bees to the biological warfare strike was OK if rather risky. Just not risky for us. Guess we're gonna sit this one out.

I for one don't like the wasps, and am happy to see them get a smack down, but my motivation is based on one single act the wasps did a while ago. We did save one once so hate of the wasps is not totally agreed on.

I think the real plan though was just to ally with the bees. Well, they ambushed us. Current attitude seems to be "the hell with them too."

Might wanna pause and determine what we need to prioritize now but we do really need to put some parenting time in.

So the consensus seems to be moving up the tree.
Very well then. Instead of hunting, you take Webby with you to explore the strange object you spotted in the canopy of the tree, that you somehow forgot to check out until now.

It is bigger than you thought.
It is stuck between the branches of the tree.

Well get closer look at how its stuck, also check out the dangling bit.

You send Webby to check out the dangling bit, while you yourself investigate how the thing is stuck.
It seems that it is constricted between the two branches, there is some dead leaves and stuff that lock the thing very tight.
The material of which the thing is made from seems quite frail. It looks like it could be cut with the glass or metal shards you have inside your nest.

Webby informs you that the dangling bit seems to be some sort of long thin sheet woven from weird strings.

    OK, let's free it.

Go back to the nest and fetch some glass for cutting

    >> Anonymous 04/21/12(Sat)18:56 No.18807225
How about send webby back to get some glass. Webby got all that energy, etc.

We can examine it further. Maybe have a look around, see what we can see from up here.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/12(Sat)18:57 No.18807236
If we free it the giant might take it before we can take some materials...

So I take that you will try to fetch the glass.

You send Webby on her way to get the glass.
    >> Anonymous 04/21/12(Sat)19:00 No.18807256
    Nibble on it?

    It seems not a bird.

Have Webby stalk it and bind it up? Come back three days later ...

While Webby is getting the glass, you gaze upon the world from the tree.

    Those are wasps, I think.

Bees have a proper ground based artificial hive.

    Yeah, those are wasps.

I might need to stop here unfortunately. It is already 2 am here where I live, and I am getting sleepy.
Sorry if this end in this kind of shitty spot.

That's OK, I think the player base is at a loss for what to do.

Take seven, see you next week. Thanks again OP!

    Thanks to all who participated!
Sorry if this session lacked focus.

As usual, input is welcomed, and critique even more so, so I might improve.

I think we all missed the obvious so this session was a bit of an undirected wandering thing. I still loved it. Sorry we were so obtuse.

Critique? If the players seem to have missed something don't fret about mentioning it again. At least they can bite or outright reject it, instead of just mellowing and staggering through outright ambiguity.

Keep in mind quite a few people wander in and out during the quest time so you can get people who jump in without reading everything in detail that happened earlier in the thread. It's a functional limitation of the medium.

I do think you're doing great and thank you!

    Thanks.
I guess I'll be hitting the bunk now.
    It has been fun folks!
I'll see you next Saturday around the same time.
And thanks to the anon(s) who keep archiving these threads. You rock!
    Night guys!

    I missed Spider-Quest. Now I am sad :-(

    Well, next time again.
