Previous thread is autosaging. Let's take it here.

You are preparing for the attack on the human hamlets. It could well be difficult. You don't know.

But damn if you do not succeed! You have spent countless years in agonising slumber, and you have returned!

    > Action?
    >> OP !aXFaDdx3g. 04/09/12(Mon)16:15 No.18641145
Unfortunately, your initial attack plans do not go well at all.

You sent Skada to try and track the rangers, but while Skada managed to keep track of where the rangers were, in his zeal he was separated from his backup.

In turn, the rangers realised something was up, and launched an ambush, which was only defeated when Skada rushed back and shot one of their number. The man was mortally wounded when he was brought back to the keep, and you consumed him.

In light of terrible rolls, perhaps we need a larger force - either way, we need enough shock and awe to make them cower, not fight and die.

You have reclaimed the equipment and replaced the losses. Now you have 85 Hinling thralls, of whom the armed are:

    - Skada (Strong Bow)
    - Bowmen: 23 Norm Bow, 6 Strong Bow
    - Archer: 3 Strong Bow
    - Spearmen: 28 Hunt Spear, 7 Long Spear
    - Spearbearer: 2 Long Spear

There could be very easy and minor ways we could improve overall happiness.

It's a small hamlet will relatively little amount of people. We should be bale to deal with them easily.
Take a force of 20 bowmen led by Skada, and force of 10 spearmen. We will personally accompany them all.
Go in during the night, get them when they are sleeping.

Try not to kill them all, but make them into our thralls. We are an equal opportunity enslaver! We shouldn't go around slaughtering everyone!

You people have a good point. Well, if you've got any suggestions to raise morale outside of the current battle situation, do raise them. You will do them.

    >>18641172

You give 20 bowmen to Skada, including the archers, while you take a body of spearmen and spearbearers yourself. Then, after night falls, you go on the attack.

Skada is the first to make contact, and he quickly drags an unconscious lumberjack back to you. Excellent.

    >>18641226
    63 vs. 19 - great success!

As you arrive near the village, still unnoticed, you quickly raise your staff and start to draw the very heat out of the hamlets. Fires go out; bedwarmers go cold; and all about the place a thin mist rises, frosty and still.

'Forward. Take as many alive as you can.'

Your hinlings rush forward, and straight into fierce resistance from the axe-wielding men. But in the end, the cold sapping their very strength and soaking into their bones, they are either killed or captured. Once that is done, the rest is easy; your hinlings break through windows, climb into residences, kill any who resist and capture all they can capture.

By dawn, icicles are hanging over the trees around the village, and the eaves of the houses. But your hinlings are unaffected by the cold, as you survey the results of a considerable but bloody victory.

Let's give Anders the flail. It's a terrifying and brutal weapon suited to his new form.

Let's see if we can transfer the magical power from the staff to the sword and wield that as our personal weapon.

though I was previously in favour of giving Anders the flail, what about having hiw dual wielding Sword/ axe, he´ll scare our foes shitless, that´s for sure! Make weapons for everyone that can use them, pref. Hinling archers and human melee.

great quest and I´ll be monitoring your twitter closely!

That's what I meant about being careful with heavy number crunching. As a DM, it WILL start giving you headaches.

    It is done. Your army:

    - H Bowmen: 44 Strong Bow
    - H Archer: 3 Strong Bow
    - H Spearmen: 41 Long Spear
    - H Spearbearer: 2 Long Spear
    - F Axemen: 10 Long Axes
    - F Bowmen: 5 Strong Bow

(At later stages they will be consolidated into units and you will manage units instead of men. Because my brain will explode.)

Anders is given the flail. It, too, catches fire in his hands, and looks like flaming lashes.

I must say, I like the solar eclipse. Darkness and impending doom. Night in the middle of day.

The smith has started training, but progress is a bit slow.

As for yourself... you have been experimenting with, how should we say, enhancing the bodies of your soldiers. But an attempt to graft two more arms on a hinling didn't work, though thankfully the hinling survived the experience.

Earlier, if I'm not mistaken you said we could reach up to the sky and speak with the ravens and other birds correct?
Then why the hell are we using warriors as scouts? Rats, bats, birds, and snakes are much less obvious than people stalking around the woods.

You have every reason to be satisfied about the way the previous two months have gone. From the very moment of your awakening you have seized on power, as is your wont. And it has come to you more easily than even you thought.

Now you own a fort in the middle of two branches of a river, a secure position where your underlings - more than a hundred of them - toil and work for your glory. You have regained a corporal form, taking care to retain the very essence of a nightmare - insubstantial, yet potently true; inscrutably cloaked, yet undeniably present.

Skada is a writhing mass of shadows. Sometimes, especially when talking to you, he still takes his former shape; but at other times he is a web of inexplicable darkness, spinning through trees and over the ground, launching arrows at his quarry.

Anders is almost the exact opposite. He takes pleasure in operating the drawbridge of your fortress with just one hand - gloved, of course, lest he burn the whole bloody wall down. He has learned to control his flames, which issue out of every inch of his body now. He can smoulder, at which time smoke issues, much like it does from you, wreathing him from detection. And when he is furious, the flames leap twelve feet high as he rampages, swinging his burning scourge.

You think you can afford one more boon to him. (Suggest it.)

The birds and pigeons can tell you about houses and positions, but nothing more. They don't know what a family is, or what a human family looks like. So definitely usable, but with limits.

    Okay, going back on happiness.

Lets have our champions give us report on that and their thoughts how we can improve the situation.
Or, maybe, get out and ask the people directly. How they are doing, what ails them, what would they want improved, etc.

    > Speed it is, then. Also, not really... but I'll get on Twitter when I run things. Other projects, man.

You decide to grant Anders the boon of blinking, moving in a flash of flames for distances of up to ten paces. Suddenly he is standing on the wall; suddenly, in a cloud of scorching agony, he is behind the enemy line, the scourge of the Eclipse itself.

    > Will our faction be called the Eclipse?

Meanwhile, though, you are also aware of the threats. In the month since you attacked and destroyed the hamlet, you are well aware that the full-men rangers are on to you. From the north, from the east, they are constantly patrolling, probing, attempting to contain you within an ever constricting area, the better to starve you out.

To the south, meanwhile, the hills bear Mathraim, those formidable long-armed warriors. They know what you are, and that makes them fear you. But you have good cause to fear them too.

At the mouth of the river where your camp is, birds have been bringing news of a new settlement being built. The full-men are not about to be put off from their project. You will have to fight them for every pace, every foot, every inch.

To the west, you still do not know what those two potent presences were. Now they are out of sight, and vice versa. But might there be more? Is some force, unknown to you, rallying the Hinlings? Preventing you from achieving traction among this most tractable of people?

You rest in your halls, and brood.

    > The end for now.
