She pouts, but the pout soon becomes a sly grin. Before you can get through the doorway she plants a kiss on your cheek.
"Yer a real knight, ye'll have no problem with that troll," she said before dancing away with a playful wave. You enter your room to find another fellow sleeping soundly in the other bed. Its often that strangers have to share a room on the road, and not the first time you had done so. Stripping down to your small clothes, you climb into the unoccupied bed and settle in for the night, your sword hanging from the bedpost for easy access.
Its not long before dawn arrives, and as your master had drilled into you, you rise with it. Pulling on your clothes and rebuckling your sword about your waist, you head down into the common room for breakfast.
The staff seems drawn out, but still cheerful. Many of the girls looked as if they hadn't slept. The red haired girl was, however, snoring loudly in the corner curled up by the fireplace, a drinking horn tucked under her arm.
A hefty woman saw you to a table. She had a thin smile but a hefty laugh. "Last night was a riot, you shouldn't have left so early. Poor Mara was heart-broken," she said, gently gesturing to the sleeping girl. "we've got bacon burned crisp with buttered bread and a cider to wash it down. That'll be three silver pennies," she took the coin and went on her way, quick to return with the meal. |
