Mike lets you all into the gym at 1400.
He begins to explain the tests.

"You and a randomly chosen partner will be assigned to run through any one case simulations I have selected. Complete all objectives given to you and you will have cleared the simulation."
    He then begins assigning pairs.
As you wait for your name to be called, you mentillate Erica.
'Hey, want to make a bet?'
    'Sure. What kind of bet?'
'If one of us fails to complete the simulation, they lose. Loser has to wear an outfit picked by the winner for 3 days. Deal?'
'Deal.' She answers you wit ha mental smirk.

"Hartmann, You go with Emiya." Mike says.
'OH GODDAMMIT!' Erica says loudly in your mind.
'I'll make sure to pick a good outfit for you.' You tell her.
    And then you were called.
    "Ayasaki, pair up with Katsura."
'I leave myself in your care.' you tell Hina mentally.
She doesn't reply but simply walks up to you.

Once everyone has joined up with their partner, Mike started the simulations.

The gym desintegrates, you and Hina find yourselves standing in an immense sea of darkness.
You hear Mike in your head.
"Here's the situation. A rouge magos has captured 24 children and plans to use them as human sacrifices in a forest."
"Your mission is to rescue the children and if possible, apprehend or defeat the magos."
He explains to the two of you.
"You will be inserted at the edge of the treeline, scanning equipment and other majaikal means of detection does not work within the trees for reason yet unknown."
"Your opponent is a summoner type, but not much more other than that is known about him."
"If you are unable to save all the children, it will result in failure. If you are 'killed', it also means failure."
"Keep your guard up and good luck to the two of you."

The darkness melts away to reveal a forest at night.

A full moon shines down on a sea of naked trees.
Dry leaves crunch under your feet as you carefully walk in with Hina at your side.

    You consider your options.
With rescuing the children a priority, you will have to be stealthy to avoid as much combat as possible.
You can let your familiars aid you in the search, but are unsure if you would risk them, and if the added numbers would alert the enemy mage to your position.

You and Hina can split up, but with the opponent being a summoner, you dont know if going solo would be the best resort.

We keep our somkescreen up to cover all the area we've gone through and a large patch of forest around it. Jakob, I'll bet he has a pretty good sense of direction, and can move quietly enough through a forest on his own. If the children aren't all grouped together, as we come across and free them we can have Jakob escort them back to the edge of the forest.

If we had more than a two man team we would be ok but we need to rescue the kids to at least disrupt his sacrifice plans before we even consider attacking

if he has them placed in a specific pattern for a ritual, we might consider having Jakob and Ted move some of them once we're ready to fight the summoner, that ought to ruin his ritual (if how this magic works is anything like Dresdenverse magic, then screwing up the pattern for a ritual is dangerous but a surefire way to make it fail)

"We are sorry to have come without notice." you tell him with a small bow. "But we are on urgent business to deliver justice."

"JAKOB, TED. NOW!" you order your familiars as you freeze time.

    [80 secs]
You pull Hina with you into the time stop and run towards the kids.
    [75 secs]
You begin piling the kids into saucers covered with cups. 4 to 5 in each.
At the same time you order Hina to begin wailing on the man with her swords.
You use your concentration to keep Hina unfrozen, even if you aren't touching her.
    [45secs]
Hina has effectively stabbed, slashed, and diced the man. His remains only staying together by virtue of the stopped time.
You move to fill another saucer with kids.

As you grab a little boy with a cap on and put him into the saucer, it happened.

His mouth splits open to reveal sharp teeth.
The creature catches you by surprise and you panic, making you drop your hold on time.

You manage to dodge it just in time, and push the remaining two kids on the ground to safety.

'Sir! one of the kids are-' Jakob's frantic message gets cut.

You fend off the creature with a kick just in time to see Hina get snatched up by a huge tentacle that rose out of the ground.

    On the bright side.

Our deal with Erica specified that the WINNER would make the LOSER dress up however they wanted. If she loses too (I mean, she's teamed up with SHIROU in a STEALTH mission. It won't end well for her), then neither of us have to dress up.

It wasn't necessarily a Kobayashi-Maru, where the instructors cheat, and so the students have to cheat, in order to win.

This was just an extremely difficult scenario that had the possibility of extracting safely all children that had not been turned into mutants yet.
And we failed, because people went to save Hina instead of the kid.

But I want you to remember Hina, no matter what happens I will be there to help you, if you are falling I will catch you, if you are in trouble I will help you, if I have any strength or capability to do so I won't let you down.

Yes we failed and all that means is that we don't let this event defeat us and we get up, dust ourselves off and get stronger so nobody we care about ever gets hurt.

The Bureau wants us to taste failure so we can get stronger, so that real life situations like this don't break us and instead we make a decision rather than hesitating. As long as we keep getting stronger after this we did nothing wrong.

My god. Can your logic be any more circular?

Besides which, you're inserting post-facto knowledge into her justification for not saying anything, and by extension of your argument, failing.

She didn't have an appropriate plan for the situation. Fine. We communicated the details of the plan extensively during it's execution. Fine. The enemy threw a spanner into the works with planted monsters and proved more resilient to damage than anticipated. Fine. We made the decision to maximise our strengths by rescuing Hina so all the children wouldn't die instead of two.

She thinks she failed, and we need to reinforce that that doesn't matter, and that these exercises exist to help people overcome that fear of failure. Not "OMG i'm sorry glorious vagina, it's all my fault i've failed you!".

You generate a basket of biscuits and a thermos of tea.
"I want you guys to take this to Yuki, the Director, in the library." you say as you hand it to them.
"Serve her some tea and apologize for me, if you could."
"Of course sir, we'd be glad to."
    "Bully. Leave it to us."
And the two of them head back off to the library.

YOu go inside the gym to see ho well Erica and Shirou are faring.

    To do list:
We only have about 4 days to get our things ready for white day so we'd better get onto it next thread.
Go to town, order the locket for Nanoha, find the
Lingerie for the twins, find the LP for Keima and get the ingredients for our various friends gifts while we are there.
Take some bread to Tsukino was mentioned before, whether we do it or not yet remains to be seen
See the doctor about an extra dimensional swag palace for us to start working on.
See Ryuu about making new potions, including BEARMODE potion, from scratch and mention we think it is time we tried fiddling around with that, also mention we might have another good alchemy student for him
we still need to get our hands on a Grand Piano for classy entertaining. Solve limited space problem, possibly remove couch, or somehow combine the couch with a grand piano
    ABCs of Swords for Shirou
Consider an appropriate milf to add to the bureau/harem(?)

Suggestion: Talk to Keima about compiling a student dossier system.

Having everybody know everybody else's strengths and weaknesses would put everyone on even ground in a fight, and allow them to coordinate much better in scenarios like this.

Plus taking the initiative on something like this will look good to the higher-ups.

For people who would rather act paranoid we can make it completely voluntary: you opt in, you get all the data.

It also gives us a head-start on organizing a semi-criminal organization and wrecking merry-hell with the bureau here if we turned evil.

Not saying we would, but it's nice to keep our options open.

Plus, we could definitely get her a new cheongsam.

It's not great NOW, but it's done some cool things like go multi-platform right out the gate.

There's also been EA hinting at things like buying a game for one platform via origen gets you all versions of it.

When you compare some of the server-side game streaming services out there, and the fact that EA could pull that shit off, Origen might go interesting places.

    Just my two cents.

The idea had been it is a training from hell day for guns instead of a go have fun get distracted by our harem day.

Plus I think Sousuke wouldn't like the crowd as much

Nanoha mentioned not liking guns as weapons when she talked about needing a fall back weapon before didn't she?

Also I still think we need to find someone we can team up with Vita so we can spray an enemy with rebounder ( or coat the weapons ) and have them play tennis / badminton with... Maybe Shirou as the ball

Anyway planning anything in advance is a bit optimistic given what LG likes to throw at us

I think she doesn't like shooting PEOPLE with guns. She sure seemed to like shooting them at nothing over at Dante's, but she may have just been explosion drunk. I'm with the other guy saying no harem at training. Erica may be good, but Souske is a Professional. Capital P.

Ah, it is probably not explosive enough a result for her tastes if you just shoot people with bullets.

We need to give her a paint all gun with our Molotov balls for her birthday, as well as the locket but the locket would be a private gift then

She's not much of a gun nut, but Ryuu said that a lot of agents requested his molotovs.

We could just make a few molotov-grenades and give them to her. A little extra bang she doesn't have to expend majaik on.

I think the locket is for white day, so the paintball gun can be for her birthday just fine. Also, I think her gun issue is that you can't befriend dead people.

Only issue with the locket is if it can't be finished by white day.

+1 for no ladies whilst training with Sousuke. If we want to get the most out of the time, we need to not be distracted.
Maybe while we're training with Sousuke, Gai could be doing training with Shirou, see if he can impart a bit of that everflowing stoic-ness to Shirou so he can calm down and learn how to do his job. Go out to some mountains and sit under a waterfall, hold rocks, spar, do whatever it is martial artists do.

Well giving her a gun that fires powerful explosive-incendiary rounds won't help her in that regard.

Let's just stick with the locket. We can provide bombs on request.

In fact, since we've learned a number of useful potions, we should keep some in stock so we can hand them out to our group when we're deployed and during training.

Everyone should have at least two healing and two molotov.

They don't last forever which is why we have to make them on demand. Our flask of holding is one of the few things that bypasses that problem.

They are good for a while though so the idea has some merit

The gun is meant for her to go play explode things outside of combat. Since she reacts so well to explosions we might as well of been giving her the best present ever

    Ok picnic ideas?
I know there is teddy bears picnic which was thrown out.
We could do a sugar overdose pink everything picnic
    Anything else?

Speaks of sugar overdose we still don't have that recording of Sakura running around Nanoha's roof. Must do that next thread, easily enough done and would take no time

That can work, or we can just ask Nanoha in person when she's in our room. It's the same either way, but I think Nanoha is more convenient.

    Please no.

It's either going to be horrifically gay, or we're going to end up sharing the girls with him. Forget either of those options.

If you're so desperate for cock then we can have Erica wear a strapon. I'm sure she'd go for it while we are in bunnymode.
