A few diffident blasts from our battlecruisers later, the last escape pod explodes, and a searing roar of rage and defiance screams through our mind. It rings with such force that we immediately feel Dyles' body burning in the flames of the pod. The consciousness Dyles has become is powerful enough that it actually manages to survive, at least momentarily, the destruction of its physical vessel.
We feel its power reach out in every direction, searching, seeking a new mind to fill, a new psionic host. We feel it ravage through the system until it feels a connection it can manipulate. With horror, we watch as it fuses with that connection, or rather, connections.
Dyles' mind has survived its body, and taken up residence in the dense, interconnected ecological web of the planet below. It seems impossible, and it would be, if it were not for the fact that the amphibian parasite that comprises Dyles has infected every planet, tree, and animal of this planet. Everything here is host to it. Everything here is already a part of Dyles' greater entity, and has now become host to Dyles himself.

I'm glad you approve. Anonymous' roll and your second roll both would have led to Dyles just keeling over dead. Nobody rolled in the interesting 6 - 10 range. Probably for the best, really. Option 2 was almost as silly as what we ended up with!
