    > due to lack of prayer, original thread isn't bumping when posted in. Attempting new thread to fix problem.
    >>18245285 original thread, starting ship stats, archive link.

You are Elesh Phryx, rogue techpriest and rookie captain of a Hazeroth class raider, 'Amalgum Sister', though you are currently commanding your newly aquired prize, a Sword class frigate. Your XO, Athe, was critically wounded during your capture of the frigate by the opposing captain. Lacking any sort of proper medicae facilities to care for Athe and with only a single crew to man two battered ships, you set course for the Serentus system and its Adepta Sororitas orders. Medicae squads from the local order hospitaller are currently moving your wounded from what remains of the Sword's medicae deck. If your calculations are correct, Magos Taylor and Captain Wilson should be arriving in Tortuga with the Zephyr Spirit in two days time.

You quietly instruct your crews to be on their best behavior as your cogitators begin filtering your flesh brain's paranoia at the prospect of being docked at a sororitas controlled station. As the medicae squads begin removing your wounded from the ship, you filter through the extensive damage assessments on your prize's facilities and systems. The munititorum's previous location is a wasteland, bulkheads twisted and charred as the ammunition within detonated and set the nearby voidsmen quarters and power systems ablaze. The dorsal macrocannons were burned from within as the fire spread, slagging the battery's vitals from within. Fortunately, the laser battery was saved from a similar fate, the flames stopped before they could spread beyond the power systems. The medicae deck is believed to have been destroyed in an earlier engagement, as the damage is inconsistent with macrocannon damage and removed from the inferno that claimed the other systems. Brow furrowed, you optimistically estimate six weeks of repair in a a dock. What little personal loot you claimed on this mission may cover half of the material costs.

Voidsman Quien coughs to draw your attention, "Captain, several parties have requested your attention. The Cannoness Council has requested your presence as soon as you're able, and they're sending a squad of sisters to escort you to their chamber. A Magos Grumman has requested to meet with you, citing something about the 'Omnissiah's will'. Finally, the dock master wishes for details on our plans, but expects no quick answer due to our wounded."

    >Orders, Captain?

Well, we're in a Sister-controlled area, and they've sent an "escort," so it looks like we're going there first. After that, I'd say Magos then Dockmaster, though the order may change depending on what the Sisters say...

"Voidsman, you have command until I return." Quien nods and returns to his station as you make your way off the ship, toward your 'escort'. Your cogitators note several massive stress fractures along the Sword's cratered armor plates, only visible now that you gaze upon them from the space dock. Steeling your flesh brain with the superior logic and reason of your cogitators, you move past a trio of techpriests admiring your Sword, ignoring their obvious glances at your lacking level of augmentation. The five battle sisters pay you no heed as you approach, their ebon power armor decorated with delightfully intricate designs of what you believe to be a platinum alloy. As you admire the fine craftsman ship and process a mantra to the Omnissiah's graceful creations, one of the sisters finally acknowledges your presence. "Techpriest Phryx? The council awaits their chance to grace you with their attention."

Rage fills your flesh brain as it bucks against your cogitators' control, every organic cell demanding you crush this fleshbag's superiority complex and teach her where she stands under the Omnissiah's followers. Instead, your cogitators only allow a polite retort with a touch of emphasis, "Captain Phryx, if you please, sister."
    >> MachineSpirit !!ZwhWAwcuTHG 03/07/12(Wed)21:32 No.18246581
    >>18246573

The raven haired sister smirks before motioning for you to follow, flanked by the remaining quartet of armored warriors. In due time you arrive at a set of massive guilded doors, each forming a massive mural of the God-Emperor's visage. The hall fills with a hydraulic whine as massive manifestations of the Omnissiah's power set the golden figure's halves into motion, a silent demonstration of the true order of the universe. Three women wait upon a massive dias, two in ornate power armor decorated with cloth and metalic inlays of saints, their thrones similarly decorated and marked with purity seals. A third sits in a matching throne, though she wears robes with a minor amount of decorative blue trim. You note a hint of slim power armor under the woman's robes, along with a heavier level of augmentation.

The trio gaze upon you for a moment before the one in the center speaks. "Welcome to our chamber, Techpriest Phryx. We are glad you could attend this meeting with due haste."

The robed sister nods politely at your words and returns your aquila, though her face carries an apologetic look. "Unfortunately, Captain, a contagin has infected many of your wounded. My sisters have contained the infection in most, but your second's condition continues to deteriorate at a slow pace, perhaps slowed by her quiet litanies of strength. I believe her faith to be strong, but fear it may no-"
Her words are cut off as the sister in the center slowly works her voice toward a proverbal frothing rage "You claim that your Captain was killed by pirates, Techpriest? And that you assumed command after the other officers above you were slain? Or perhaps you took the ship, splitting your remaining crew between the two and are hoping to take advantage of our station's resources before returning to your heretic masters!?"

Your cogitators struggle as they work to crush all input from your flesh brain to your body, the timing fortunately preventing you from startling with the council as an inhuman voice fills the great chamber as if the Omnissiah itself had arived. "What is this! Canoness Conora, you dare to presume authority over a member of the Mechanicus!?" A robed figure thunders past, surrounded in a storm of angry mechadendrites.

"This station belongs to the Imperium! We have the authority to root out heresy within this station!" cries the canoness, her features quickly matching the color of her order's rose.

"SILENCE! Your actions go against the treaty signed between Mars and the Emperor himself! The Mechanicus shall root out heresy within it's own ranks! Neither the Adepta Sororitas nor the Inquisition have authority over the followers of the Omnissiah, to say otherwise is to deny the Emperor's will!" booms the robed figure, an arm of superior cybernetics pointing at the sister as she begins to visibly tremble with rage.

Canoness Conora stares at her fellow in anger and shock, but is quickly beaten to words by the robed canoness. "I concur, Sister Irene. Magos Grumman, I beg your pardon for our transgressions against your flock. If you would please excuse us, we must tend to our own flock."

The metallic voice bows politely before moving to the exit, a mechadendrite gently herding you along the exit with it.

You bow your head as you are taken to a waiting cargo lifter by the Magos, "Blessings of the Omnissiah be upon you, Magos Grumman. Those fanatics were redlining my cogitators abilities." The hooded head of the Magos turns to view you, his augmented eyes flickering in intricate patterns in the darkness concealing his features. Entertainment, you conclude.

"You should thank Canoness Laci, not I, sister. It was she that alerted me to Canoness Conora's actions." The Magos remains still as the lifter lurches into action, nearly throwing you from your feet. "I note that your augments are rather limited, Elesh. Eighty-two percent of your flesh remains intact, though most of your augmentation consists of your cyber mantle and potentia coil. Even if they are of fine craftsmanship, this is unacceptable for a priest holding the rank of captain! I believe the Omnissiah guided you here for me to remedy this, and perhaps further your training, if you can spare the cycles. Yes, I do believe that is his will." The lifter picks up a shocking speed for such a large craft as you consider the Magos' offer.

I'll put my vote towards Augmentation, since we can always get resources from whoever we are selling our services to as a pirate, and that seems like a skill that would have high value (also servitorisation/vehicles, but this can be a tiebreaker). Or, if we do rejoin the AdMech, we'll have access to resources from them.

Struth. Assuming the Manipulator only takes one "slot", I propose a medicae, on general principle, a utility, and a manipulator. Assuming you were referring to a heavier grade manipulator 'dendrite taking up multiple slots.

I honestly think servitors would be the better option. We can then make combat servitors and maybe even servitors to start replacing parts of the crew. And any crew that are wounded enough could be made into servitors as well.

I'd say we go for a Medicae Mechadendrite, a "usb port" one ( I dunno the official name, but something that allows us a neural interface with tech), and either an optical or a fine manipulator one, either will do though I think we'll need both eventually. Combat Mechadendrites are low priority, since a) we're the captain, we shouldn't be fighting anyway, and b) that's what minions and servoskulls are for. Similarly, the heavy lifting is why we have delicious Heretek servitors.

Magos Grumman again flashes colorful paterns from beneath his hood, clearly pleased by your enthusiasm to enhance your weak flesh with the gifts of the Omnissiah's teachings. Your healthy condition speeds your recovery, and within five days your new mechadendrites dance about your form, as if they had always been a part of you from birth. Deft movements bring your mechadendrites before you, and you admire the superior craftsmanship of your utility mechadendrites, their manipulators modified to act as additional interfaces for your MIU implant. While not quite as exquisite to view as the others, the medicae mechadendrite is still a marvelous sight, the tiny arms controlled by a concerned machine spirit instead of your own medicae knowledge. Your memory cores have also been enhanced, preparing your mind to receive the training that you'd agreed to, but have yet to decide upon.

Further talks with the Magos remind you of Athe's plight, but he reminds you that attempting augmentation on a subject in such poor health may easily kill them. There is good news, however, as your XO's condition has ceased it's spiral toward death.

Augmentation. The flesh is weak, while the Omnissiah's holy cogs, gears, pistons and metals are strong. Though the thought of starting your own factorum or shipyard is tempting, the ability to better craft the Omnissiah's divine blessings to it's followers will better serve you and yours in the future. Magos Grumman seems crestfallen at your dismissal of learning to craft vehicles, perhaps he should have mentioned his specialty sooner. Your instruction passes quickly as your new memory capacity and utlity mechadendrites quickly aid your absorbtion of knowledge, cutting your learning period to a mere twelve days. The Magos is impressed by your impressive learning, praising your connection to the Omnissiah's divine spark.

A report is delivered from Quein as you gather your belongings from your quarters in the station's factorum. The additional manpower saw the quick removal of both the ruined Medicae Deck debris and the dorsal Mars pattern macrocannons. The removal of the debris has allowed access to the ship's Trophy Room, though Quein had it locked down until your return. 22 wealth worth of metal was reclaimed, and your share of 11 wealth was delivered to the Sword. In other good news, Athe's condition has improved. She is now awake and alert, though her wounds are still healing.

Definitely. And apologize to the Magos for not following his own calling, perhaps if the prospect of improving upon the frail human condition hadn't always fascinated us so.

I don't know about trying to sell off "our old captain's" personal objects, not here. On Tortuga, sure, but it does sound kinda fishy if we do it here.

And with that, I must be offski. Good luck, guys.

Magos Grumman waves off your apology with a mechadendrite, shaking his robed head, "One always hopes that a student will share their passions and seek to learn of your knowledge, young one. Perhaps when your body has matured into it's true form, your mind will be free to obsess over other things."

For now, you walk your own path toward the station's medicae deck, the Mission of the Order of the Azure Aegis aboard this station. After hitching rides on several ground transports, you arrive to the humble chappel that serves as the entrance to the medicae deck. Soon after, you stand before Athe's room. You hear a soft voice, and your cogitators instantly match it to that of Canoness Laci.

Well, it depends on the stuff in question. Selling off a bunch of booze, for instance, would make sense, given that the new captain is a techpriest who needs a lot of money to repair the ships. Similarly, there may be other things that would make sense for us to be selling, hence my saying we should look into it.

    >>18249349
Convenient. May as well knock and enter (or not knock, depending on just what level of "Oblivious to subtleties techpriest" we want to project to others. Thoughts?).

Right, this is why I'm glad others are taking part, I'm bad at stuff, like expressing things. There are of course exceptions to not doing it now.
My thoughts were, our "former captain" may have family we should be returning his personal effects to, and it wouldn't look right, to be selling that off.

"Six sisters were sentenced to Repenta squads because of that, Athe-" The canoness' voice abruptly cuts off as your medicae mechadendrite's machine spirit detects Athe's pained breathing and moves thru the gap in the door. Cogitators instantly send your utility mechadendrite into the door in a coarse knock as you step into Athe's room yourself. Athe lays upon a small bed, her bandages tinged red as her wounded abdomen continues to slowly weep her life blood. You note her pale face, along with her enlarged pupils. "C-captain!" she attempts to salute, but the motions end as her face contorts in pain.

    Aww shit.

"Omnissiah, Athe, relax, you're supposed to be resting and healing!"
Then acting as if we hadn't known the Cannoness was there all along, notice her, and say, "I'm sorry, was I interrupting? I'd just heard Athe was doing better…"

Your medicae mechadendrite extends slightly to inject Athe's trembling form with a mind seditive, quickly calming her, though clearly lessening her mental facilities for the time being. With the typical aloofness of many techpriests, you turn to canoness Laci, mechadendrites hovering above your head curiously. "Excuse me, Canoness. I did not expect you to be taking personal care of my officer." At a loss for words, the sister's mouth hangs agape as you give her a queer look. "Magos Grumman informed me of your aid, and I meant to thank you for that."

    "Y-you're welcome, Captain."

Your head and utility mechadendrites slowly cock sideways at her words, your brow quisically moving in opposite directions. "But I haven't thanked you yet?"
Your cogitators boldly predict that the Canoness' flesh brain will explode as it attempts to process your statement.

you can either seek out bridge crew or see if any generic crew rise to the occasion. Or you could think of ways that I've overlooked, but in general not everyone is cut out for the hero stuff.

Generally, if I give them a name, you can either recruit or interact with them in some form. Even if you can only interact via yelling match (canoness Conora!)
