02/28/12(Tue)23:53 No.18144032>>18143786 No, Vorinclex is pretty bad, not just out of the praetor cycle but in general.
Elesh Norn immediately swings the game in your favor, probably wiping a good portion of the opponent's board while making everything you land a monster in its own right, all while being resilient to burn, making it more likely she'll survive post-casting.
She's worth so much because she makes big waves in Standard. Arguably better, though more a fringe player in formats like Legacy, is Jin-Gitaxias, who's just a reanimation spell away. If they can't deal with him the turn he comes out, the opponent is doomed. After you draw 7 cards from him, he should survive forever from the counters you drew to protect him.
The other three don't see much play, because they don't cause such huge swings in the game state. Urabrask gets a swing in really quick, sure, but delaying the opponent's creatures isn't as good as murdering them. Sheoldred makes their board state weaker and yours stronger, much like Elesh Norn, but she does it so much more slowly. Vorinclex doubles your mana, sure, but the practical difference between 8 and 16 mana isn't much, honestly. Slowing their mana is annoying, but if they can't kill him, they have bigger problems on their hands than limited mana. |
