Humm... the is one of the least Tau weapons I've ever laid eyes on. Apart from being long range that is.
Mark II P.H.D.S.G (Pee-Aitch-Dee-Ess-Gee):
This weapon is of Tau origin, weilded by Tau commanders as part of their crisis suits. Apparently from the early days of the Tau empire before their technology shifted towards plasma based weaponry. It fires heavy metal darts, which are psychically charged. The weapon has a long range, this is attributed to it's finely calibrated and enhanced targeting matrix, which can track multiple targets.
The weapons recoil is high, showing it's unrefined and primitive construction. It has been recently updated to include a mock Imperial chainblade and power field, it can tear through almost anything in close combat.
The weapon is of great interest to the Ordo Xenos, as it poses a trait the Tau has shown no knowledge of: psychic energy; the Adeptus Mechanicus would also like to recover the chainblade the Tau have unrightly claimed. This may explain why such an old weapon has remind in service for the modernising Tau.
I like this roll, it made me think of what some early Tau weapons might have been like. Pic related, I'm thinking a smaller version of that glued to a crisis suit with a shimmering Chainblade attachment. |
