    >Pick 1 skill for Spike

"How did you hit that?" -When fighting a target that is unable to be injured by normal attacks, Spike has the miraculous ability to injure the target by bypassing all protections.

"What, you don't believe me?" - Spike is exceptionally good at bullshitting people. He could bullshit his way into the Pentagon and get it closed down for a day, if need be.

"The Wheel of Fortune" - You don't survive this long without being at least a little lucky. If Spike is present, he may reroll 1 unfortunate circumstance per hour.

"How many pints of blood do you have?" - Constant trauma has proven him to be practically impossible to kill. Wounds that should outright splatter another man all over the room, leave Spike merely weakened and bleeding,

out of the fight but alive. He remains stable after even the most horrific wounds and can recover with proper medical treatment, generally passing out sometime after most people would be passing on.

    >Pick 1 skill for Tosh

"Voodoo" - When Tosh has a piece of a target, he can create a voodoo doll of it and cause damage to the target via the doll.

"Dis is how you do dat" - All entities with a mind have some degree of Psionic potential. Tosh can help people to find and express this potential.

"Da spirits say" - Tosh can telepathically talk and listen to a wider variety of things. Gods, shoggoths, the spirits of a place, the spirits of an item, perhaps even Magic itself if the setting allows it

"I've got an idea, mon" - Tosh is able to exert his psychic power to change the thoughts a person is currently thinking. He can use this to change people's minds, erase his presence, or even teach.
    >> Anonymous 01/10/12(Tue)07:49 No.17488657
    >Pick 1 skill for Egon

"Tell Him About the Twinkie" - Already well versed in the sciences and paranormal, Egon quickly picks up on varying versions of both from various Canons, both integrating new knowledge into his work and able to explain it in concepts that his fellows can understand.

"Tinkerer - Egon has the ability to create and alter tech on the field to work, regardless of the tools and materials needed.

"It's easy to explain" - Egon can introduce scientists to the basics of Paranormal or Magical study, and magicians to the basics of the Scientific method.

"A gentleman and a scholar" - Due to Egon's massive intellect, he has realized some of the rules behind the metaverse. He can make the technology of different canons fuse in oddly effective ways.

    >Pick 1 skill for Cheryl

"The Will to Power" - People nearby Cheryl gain a boost to their mental attributes and a resistance to mental damage.

"Your Power is MINE" - Besides dark humor potential, she is adept at using the reality manipulating powers of others for her own purposes, while somehow not being tainted by them.

"A light in the darkness" - People in need of help will always find their way to Cheryl. This includes canon natives, as well as transpace guard operatives

Silent Survivor - Her constant struggles with Silent Hill and her psychic powers have left her with an amazing intuition. Due to this, she often knows the direction attacks are coming from before they occur and is able to use her powers to prevent her friends from dying.
    >> Anonymous 01/10/12(Tue)07:51 No.17488669
    >Pick 2 skills for Douglas

"I already lost my son" - When his friends are under threat, or in a state of fear and panic, the combat strength of Douglas and his Persona increase proportional to the level of threat and/or fear

"Grinding social links" - Douglas is exceptionally good at making friends, by sympathising with people's plights and struggles.

"Papa Bear" - Doug gives a shit about people. Specifically about them making it out alive. Both he and his persona are likely to take hits meant for squishier party members.

"Old Detective" - Douglas has been a detective and then a PI for a long time, he's good at picking up on clues, and plying people for information.

"Contacts" - Philemon may be contacted at any time (via Douglas), and may present offers, deals, help, or intel

    >Pick 2 skills for Elaine

"Don't die on me damn it!" - Due to seeing many of her friends die before her eyes, she has gained the ability to bring people back to the brink life (1 hp) by sacrificing her own health.

"I HATE THE DARK!" - Because of her fights with the undead and Ebon Night, Elaine has learned how to cast a Holy that seems to consecrate the area, causing constant damage to all evil and undead creatures within its borders.

"Aura of light" - Elaine emits a curative and healing aura that affects all friendlies nearby her.

"Remembrance of the Fallen" - Stricken by the loss of friends, Elaine's magics can reach farther than most to recover allies from the clutches of Death.

"Make it in Time" - This determination combined with her Time Mage training grant Elaine the effects of Haste in combat.

"It counts as healing, right?" - Elaine can heal sanity loss, can heal damage dealt to machines, can patch holes in physical structures, and even heal some reality distortions, much in the same way that she heals flesh.

    >Pick 2 skills for VP-99

"The Path Less Traveled" - VP-99 is particularly adept at finding hidden passages and unused paths, or otherwise finding ways around that have the least amount of traffic.

"Miraculous Survivor" - Whether it is luck, fate, or particularly good damage-avoidance protocols, this unit can (and has) survived where many other units have fallen, often unscathed.

"Treasure Hunter" - This droid has miraculous luck when searching for equipment and treasure. When he is around, all treasure hunting goes far better than it would have otherwise.

"One bot's trash" - When a mechanical units die around VP-99, it can loot their experience, memory, and parts, then integrate said parts into itself

"The droid you're looking for" - VP-99 is adept at camouflage, disguise, and subterfuge. It can pass itself off as unremarkable, and perfectly normal, allowing it to stay stealthy even in plain sight.

"Silence of the Diodes - VP-99's penchant for integrating (consuming) the vital components and self-identification routines of other droids and robots makes even the most stoic of AI's nervous and unsettled when under the calculating gaze of his optical scanners. Attempts to suborn or hack VP-99 by other AI's is usually doomed to failure, as well his own hacking and subversion protocols being unusually effective."

    My current favorites.

VP-99 - "One bot's trash" and "Treasure Hunter"
Spike - "How many pints?" and "Wheel of Fortune"
Elaine - "It counts as healing, right?" and "Aura of Light"
Douglas - "Grinding Social Links" and "I already lost my son"
Cheryl - "Your Power is MINE!" and "Silent Survivor"
    Egon - "Twinkie" and "Scholar"
Tosh - "Idea" and "Da Spirits say"

Just make up something that doesn't seem too overpowered. You don't have to pick an existing suggestion. It's easier if you do, though.
    >> Anonymous 01/10/12(Tue)08:23 No.17488859
What you have as your favorite for Elaine's abilities would be pretty nice. It would both heal our tech and our allies as long as they're close enough to her. Would have been really useful while fighting Ebon Night. It'd be even nicer if "Aura of Light" also replenished small amounts of mana while healing.

Off the top of my head, I can count about 3-4, or even 5 situations we faced where we could have really benefited if we had a Getter Robo at hand, Ebon Night notwithstanding.

Also, you now realize that Clumsy Auror just managed to live through all this shit.

We need to add Shadow Force as an add-on to the R-Types. Also consider: R-9C War-Head, R-13T Echidna or R-13A Hades.

Hey, why did you guys drop the Hammer's Slammers hovertanks off the list?

Apart from blending in when fighting in a modern earth canon, they are better than Von Luckners in every way imaginable.

Really. The only time that it might have been useful is in Raccoon City to drill down to Azalin's lair. But any drilling tool would have sufficed, and it was only due to a bad roll that the VX system ended up tearing a hole in the Meta that allowed Azalin to escape; on a normal roll it would have worked as expected.

A Getter-2 would have drilled its way straight into the chamber with Ebon. Same thing in Zeal; it could have tunneled it's way through and help us escape. Getter 3 could have used it's stretchy arms to actually reach in and pull Ebon out of the castle.

Also note that we had, and have no size L mechs (which is Ebon and Getter's minimum size)

Do you think we should consider buying the Tornado Pack for the VF-25's, or do we research our own Meta version of it instead?

Are we stilll going to try to mass produce the lance of longinus and the quick fix(although it obviously means diminished capabilities)?

    >A Getter-2 would have drilled its way straight into the chamber with Ebon.
Which was unnecessary because Cheryl was able to teleport forces into the chamber.

    >Same thing in Zeal; it could have tunneled it's way through and help us escape.
You stupid shit; all that would have done is compromised the structural integrity of the palace and caused it to come crashing down, with us in it.

    >Getter 3 could have used it's stretchy arms to actually reach in and pull Ebon out of the castle.
And again it would have compromised the integrity of the room, there wasn't enough space to do that safely, and there's nothing to indicate that you would have even been able to budge Ebon Night.
Also, the Getter-3 has tank treads; the Mammon Machine Room is at the top of the Palace. Not only would the arms have to reach from the ground floor to all the way to the top of the Palace, but it would have to be done blind since the visual sensors of the Getter wouldn't be able to see into the room.

I kind of regret that we didn't think of an escape plan when we busted in on the Zeal castle. We should have just gone with a rescue, then immediately withdraw. We should have also just gone straight to destroying the Mammon Machine when/if they said it was okay to do so...

Like, we could have had the mechs pry the Mammon Machine out of the floor and then dispose of it safely.

    >> Anonymous 01/10/12(Tue)10:16 No.17489405
    >>17489360
Of course, that assumes that Zeal wouldn't have hit the mechs with Halation, or her other offensive spells, against which the Reality Emitters were of no defense.
As for damaging or destroying the Mammon Machine, that could have had even worse consequences, like causing a runaway energy cascade from the dimensional rift that the machine uses to draw power from Lavos.
Finally, there was no real escape option that could have been implemented. We were breaching a locked room at the top of a tower; even the Engineer's teleporter wouldn't have offered a way out, since its rate of transfer is 1 person per round and we had 15 people and 2 hostages.

Because of the difficulty of getting the equipment and data the farther up in the Tech Tree we go.
Whichever faction has the Hunter-Seeker Algorithm would be nigh-impossible to steal from, and if it happens to be the University, then there goes the only easy faction to infiltrate.
And also, the higher up you go, the more you have to contend with AI's and digital sentiences which can track your every move. And you had better hope that the faction you're infiltrating doesn't have Self-Aware Colonies.

Next, mindworms: Mindworms require a specialized atmosphere to live in, and custom-built habitats to stay alive. Not only would they be very difficult to control and deploy, but they would present a real danger to our own ships and personnel.

    >Sanctum guy was to keep the guy screaming "The Mentor" from bitching.
As the guy to originally suggest The Mentor, I don't recall anyone screaming about it. He was just a high-skill fighter-wizard that works very tactically. Good integration with out teams.

He was originally suggested because when we talked about 'what kind of heroes do we need/lack', Magical Combat was fourth down on the list after Engineering, Medical, and Magic Research.

As I noted at the time, he'd be great at area defense and swarms, though he wouldn't be uber against singular opponents.

He ended up sticking because all the other suggestions at the time were way too powerful anime dudes, mentally unstable anime dudes, or probably working for TSAB already anime dudes.

Really what we need are more magic/anti-magic combat suggestions.

Well, with the Gurus in charge of the Techno-Wizards, we won't be as weak in the area of 'magic combat' any more once we start arming our people with magical widgets and blasters.

Is it possible to get more Aurors though? They've been great help in the 'cast the spell we need!' category, and if we put Giles in with that it should increase that ability dramatically, but more Aurors would give more omf to their combined spell power.

We can get some Alpha Centauri stuff, but it's not cheap, and we go through TG Requisitions for it.

Thinking on the idea of getting a copy of the endgame Datalinks, it won't be as useful to us.
Each technology on the tech tree requires the infrastructure of an entire faction to manufacture and put to use. We don't have that.
So it would be better to have Requisitions get us weapons and equipment already pre-built.

Kevyn Andreyasn (Schlockverse, from gate-clone facility incident, see if grab Triniko or Gav-0 on the cheap at the same time)
    Nikola Tesla (Atomic Robo)
'Magic Cryokit' data and EMH Copy (Schlockverse, if we can get as a non-hero pick, that would be great)
Dr. Todd "Lazarus" Lazkowicz (Schlockverse, Cryo-EMH might be superior at doctoring, but Lazkowicz is a better Medical Researcher)
    Rupert Giles (Buffyverse)
Agrias Oaks (FFT, along with MORE WHITE MAGES)

PROXY (Force Unleashed, a few competing ideas of how to get him, but at least we think it can be done.) [Personally I like the suggestion of getting the parts/plans from Kamino and copying his data while he's laying around deactivated for a few months.]
Mustadio (FFT, yeah I know he's an engineer, but I don't see him as key as the others, though we might get a discount on him with Ms Oaks recruited, he's sweet on her.)
'The Mentor' (Orcs Must Die!, meh, he's been suggested and he does fit the Magical Combatant category. Bottom of the list for the moment.)

It could be interpreted as him saying we should look for allies.
Or, it could be interpreted as him saying that the TG can no longer be supremely confident in their own mastery of Meta transit science, and that we will need to fight to maintain our place against the other Meta-aware factions who will have seen a chink in our armor.
Not necessarily that we need to find allies amongst other Meta factions.

We want at least two White Mage teams this time, right at the top of the list.
The team of Gavs are good, but if we have Kevin they are a bit less important. Depending on troop slots vs hero slots, we may want to choose between them, or move them down the list.

You are correct. I mis-wrote that and should have expanded more.
It's more like, if Ebon Night had put a bit of his essence into a droid and hidden it, then VP-99 eats it, and after we finally kill him he suddenly pops out of VP-99 as a super death droid and we have a whole boss fight to start over again.

The only way I'd really be willing to have the "One bots trash..." ability is if we install a killswitch into him. And then we'd have to watch him carefully every time he 'ate' anything risky, just in case.
I'd rather have us harvest parts ourselves if we care that much about it.

Also, I was assuming we'd be replenishing fallen troops, since MetaOP was assuming that as well at the end of the last quest thread. If my list needs to have that on there as a vote for it, consider it on as the top requisition priority.

I'd prefer us taking the magitech route as we can produce things in-house, instead of relying on tech / magic we don't fully understand, and will likely have trouble replacing.
If we put in the time and effort to develop it ourselves, we have something we can reproduce and modify with relative ease. It would also let us produce our own ammunition for the weaponry.
I'd rather not risk antagonizing the TSAB any more than is necessary. There are enough meta-threats without poking around a hornet nest.

I see the Pros and Cons like this:
    TSAB weaponry:
    Pros: Powerful, Magical damage
Cons: Uncertain supply, Cannot resupply unless we research it ourselves, Chance of pissing off other meta agency.

    Magitech weapons:
Pros: Magical damage, can make more or different types as we need them. Ammo can be made in-house.

The way I read the plan to acquire it was to essentially sneak into their territory, and scavenge from their dead. Won't they have their own variations on meta clean up crews, or at least military supply people who keep their stuff out of random canon hands?
We don't want to have your own good weapons turned against us, and neither will the TSAB.

I truly don't think it will be easy to simply walk in their and take random TSAB guns in any sizeable amount.

If we have a solid plan to avoid detection, and good escape routes then I don't mind as much.
I think a good point would be to see if requisitions is willing to go into TSAB territory.
This is essentially a requisition job, and if the professionals won't touch it then we might want to think twice about attempting it ourselves.

If someone can propose a really good plan, or has some info regarding TSAB to nullify some of these concerns I might be more on board with this idea, but as it stands I must oppose it.

We usually don't have anything to do with the TSAB, them staying on their side of the Iron Mahou Curtain, and us staying on our side.
You have a point about needing a supply of Cartridges, but I was planning on reverse-engineering them so that we can make them ourselves.

However, you have a point that if a TSAB ship sees us sifting through the wreckage of their ships, they might take offense to that.

This was also my thought. With the Gurus, and especially if we recruit some Techno Wizards, we can make our own comparable weapons and even have some choice in what we are armed with.
We want lightning guns? We can make 'em! We want guns that fire holy light? Sure, slap it together.
I just see too many downsides to scavenging from TSAB, and unless their guns make magical foes shit themselves, it won't be worth the time and risk.

This just made me think of a good magitech gun though! Anti-magic bullets. Combined with a reality emitter, it could really hinder magic based foes. Heck, enchant a bunch of shrapnel with anti magic, and fire it like a flak gun. This would interfere with our own magic though, so we'd have to be careful with who gets that load-out.

    Infantry/Researcher Order of Importance:

White Mages (FFT, at least two groups this time)
Team of Gavs (Schlockverse, HOWEVER if we get Kevyn we should move these down the list, or get a smaller group)
Techno-Wizards (Rifts, Magic Engineering, Combines magic into techno-magic items, can pool their energy for larger/stronger efforts, good match with the Gurus.) Ships and Ship upgrades, Order of Importance:
Now, through the course of our arguements, I've gotten the feeling that 'Upgrades' are over new ships:

Acquiring the cloaking device meant for the Executor-class.
Schlock Fabber and upgrades to the Creation Engine. (Replace this with Thunderhead Superfortress if possible. Detailed suggestions for acquiring such have been made.)
Alchemy Lab and Arcane Library, with hydroponics for herb growing.
Upgrading the Engineering Facilities aboard the SSD.
Sufficient resources to begin applying other alterations and upgrades to our craft with the knowledge and engineering resources we have. (Incrusion tech, shields, weapon tweaks, etc)

    Ships:

Al'kesh (We love these fucking things.)
Macross Quarter (Hopefully netting a discount on accompanying VF-25s and VB-6s)
Neo Gotengo 'class' ship (Original would be out, but at as a goverment-constructed craft the blueprints to make more would be possible.)
R-Type craft (If they good ones are too expensive, go for just the good weapons instead and we'll find a home for them) [Personally, I prefer getting the weapons to the craft themselves.]

People seemed to favor Spike for "How many pints of blood do you have?" - Constant trauma has proven him to be practically impossible to kill. Wounds that should outright splatter another man all over the room, leave Spike merely weakened and bleeding, out of the fight but alive. He remains stable after even the most horrific wounds and can recover with proper medical treatment, generally passing out sometime after most people would be passing on.

Tosh for "Da spirits say" - Tosh can telepathically talk and listen to a wider variety of things. Gods, shoggoths, the spirits of a place, the spirits of an item, perhaps even Magic itself if the setting allows it.

Egon for "Tell Him About the Twinkie" - Already well versed in the sciences and paranormal, Egon quickly picks up on varying versions of both from various Canons, both integrating new knowledge into his work and able to explain it in concepts that his fellows can understand.

Cheryl seems to be favored for "Your Power is MINE" - Besides dark humor potential, she is adept at using the reality manipulating powers of others for her own purposes, while somehow not being tainted by them.
(Though there was concern that might already be her other skill)

    Douglas:
"I already lost my son" - When his friends are under threat, or in a state of fear and panic, the combat strength of Douglas and his Persona increase proportional to the level of threat and/or fear.
"Old Detective" - Douglas has been a detective and then a PI for a long time, he's good at picking up on clues, and plying people for information.

    Updated Order of Importance:

Kevyn Andreyasn (Schlockverse, from gate-clone facility incident, see if grab Triniko or Gav-0 on the cheap at the same time)
'Magic Cryokit' data and EMH Copy (Schlockverse, if we can get as a non-hero pick, that would be great)

    Rupert Giles (Buffyverse)
Agrias Oaks (FFT, along with MORE WHITE MAGES)
    Nikola Tesla (Atomic Robo)

PROXY (Force Unleashed, a few competing ideas of how to get him, but at least we think it can be done.) [Personally I like the suggestion of getting the parts/plans from Kamino and copying his data while he's laying around deactivated for a few months.]

Melchior is the Guru best suited for reforging Gurthang, and using the Ring of Sindi will help in that regard.
We need to take this opportunity to use the base labs to research the Vampire SUE-rum and see what we can sell back to Main HQ.
Antaeus needs to scan all of our vehicles, power armor, and ships so that it can use its nanorepair module on them.

We need to feed the Securitron data into the Anateus.

Other note is we don't have asteroid mining/processing equipment.

As you know, the Securitrons are ground-only, which means their wheel-based locomotion is going to be a problem. We could outfit them with small repulsorlifts to help them cross terrain or something.

Actually, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

We have the Indefatigable use its advanced sensor array to find asteroids of the right mineral makeup, then we have the Antaeus go to them.
The Antaeus-class cruisers have a large scanner/nano-disassembler at the rear of the ship that can break down vehicles and large chunks of debris into elements to fuel its Creation Engine.
That will suffice as mining equipment.

    http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Light_Staff

The elemental staves are common in their realm, and add a whopping 10% to effectively everything our Heroine White Mages cast, since almost all White magic is enhanced by these things. The higher quality version is rarer but still relatively common, and that's 15% improvement.

Come to think of it, the girls probably could use a training session with Maat (pic related)- and some MP-renewing support in the form of a Bard or Red Mage. Having someone who can panic-button and Chainspell out a ton of spells at once might help for situations like we had with the Queen of Zeal, and they can also emergency-convert HP -> MP for themselves to boot...plus they debuff really, really well and can even plink people with lower-level damage spells. Human or Tarutaru, they should be readily available as non-hero choices.

As for how to deploy it, given its range, we can probably keep it with the fleet to take advantage of its ECM capabilities.

Upgrade all our Reality Emitters to the Mark II spec.
Have Gurus look over the Reforged Ring of Sindi, and see what they make of it, if it seems safe enough to them, have them make use of it to augment their crafting.
Follow up with going over Gurthang, seeing if they feel it would be safe to reforge and issue.
Upgraded Shields and Emitters for the two Al'kesh.
    Reconstruct HK-50 and VP-98.
Install Incursion technology on the Indefatigable, VP-99, VP-98, HK-50, and a squad of Securitrons.
Have the Gavs, Data, and a Techno-Wizard (Telemechanics, you _everything_ about a machine while in effect) go over the remains of the old EMH's mobile emitter and feed that data into the Creation Engine. Even if we can't reconstruct the emitter portion it was stated numerous times to be constructed of advanced materials and hosted an amazing power source. In the STO timeline they eventually reverse engineered it and put them into widespread use.

I still stand by my choice of "All Under Heaven" for the SSD. It's big, imposing, and considering the shit we've been through and know we're gonna be facing it deserves a stronger name than "Trinity Heart".

I approve of "Guardian" and "Valiance".

17504007, those names are just silly for Star Destroyers. Maybe if we capture other ships we can use those but no one's gonna take your ship name suggestions seriously. Sorry bro.

By the by, did we figure out a more permanent arrangement for the Gurus, or is that still in the process? Also, we need to return Guts and the Persona kids if that hasn't been dealt with already. Canon preservation and all that. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KEEP DOUGLAS AWAY FROM OUR INNER WORKINGS. Good guy does not a totally trustable ally make of Philemon. We're obviously gonna do stuff he and his superiors don't approve off in some way, and suddenly we're facing raw Personas or Okuu turns on us or something...

Get with Data, the Gavs, and a TW for good measure, and begin working on getting designs for our existing equipment and replicator files converted over for compatiblity with the Creation Engine. Start laying plans for Creation Engine upgrades.
Shields for the Tanks, Battlemechs, VB-6s, and VF-25s. In that order.
Note that we've savalaged everything from every battle, so most emitters from the fallen were likely recovered.
We should beef up the Emitters on our mech units, it they aren't already counted as Vechicle scale and not just Personal ones.
Have TWs work on Storage Talismans for the White Mages.
White Mages see if they can make Ethers and Elixirs.
Get Non-mages used to our shipment of Fallout Power Armor and weapons.
Have TWs and Gurus work on TW Armor for the White Mages, and then for the Abjurers and Psions second.

Exactly the lists I was going over to make my list.

Which jewelry are you referring to? Main ones I recall are the results of the Talisman spell.
Which they can crank out easily enough, even if they are completely average and level one, that would be 1400 PPE pooled between them. They could knock out 4 in a day without pushing it. 2, then rest for 6 hours and 15 minutes, then 2 more still leaving a completely average rolled TW 20 points each afterward to assist the Gurus or other project. So three days as a baseline to get the White Mages one each so they can a recharge to draw from. No, four days, forgot Lyla, Elaine, and the two that came with Ms. Oaks. After that we'll need their efforts on other tasks and hope they can make some Ethers for themselves.

    >>17504965
Wait, my math was slightly off, forgot the extra 50 for the initial charge.
Make that nearly 7 hours of meditation and only 15 PPE each afterward. At least their psionics are still fully charged for helping out around the place.

As far what armor, it comes down to what they will wear, at least as a short term solution, and then adding a few TW features. Or even into their robes.
Chief on the list would be Magic Force Field and Breathe Without Air.
Why Breathe Without Air? Because it's one of those features you really wish you had when it comes up.

Eventually would like toe get with the Delta Greens and install the Silent Movement option on their Stealth Suits, though we'll have to be careful with it since nullifying all sound around them includes sound from communicators. Remember to get a link-up to their Heads-Up Display.

If we have Requisitions left over after getting priority items during the next cycle, wouldn't nano-mods from Deus Ex, specifically the stealth and silent running ones, be a better option?
Perhaps with an extra set that we crack so that we can construct our own pirated versions?
We do now have a doctor very well experienced in nano-mod programming, creation, and installation, as well as the equipment needed to do so.

Can it be turned on and off? Because with it on, other people would be able to sneak up on the Delta Greens, and they won't be able to hear any audio warnings.
    >> Anonymous 01/12/12(Thu)01:00 No.17510852
    >>17510526
Yes it can be turned on and off, which is important since you can't talk or heard your radio.
On the "it's magic etc etc" front, it stops sound originating within it's field of effect, not outside it. So you can still hear things from beyond it's effect.
Basically looking at integrating the features of the Arzno TWA-1500 Incursion Environmental Body Armor into the stealth suits, dropping the magical Chameleon effect for the better Stealth Field.
There is a catch, of course, which would make future requisitions of tech-based silencing gear a consideration. It runs for five minutes at a time and we'd need to attach a PPE battery since the Delta Greens can't power it themselves.

So on the upside, we could install a talisman battery and the basic setup for almost no resources except for time, but that would get them a 5 minute activation of complete silence until they can recharge. That we could manage roughly three a day. Or we could get some gems and set them up with a serious PPE reserve, at roughly the same rate but a cost of resources.
Even if we decide not to bother in general, I'd suggest taking a day just to give Tosh's armor a three activation option.

Actually, that reminds me, we should have a look at Tosh's armor and make a set for the rest of the Psychics.

    Alright, that's allayed my concerns.

Thank god this thread is still alive.

So the next thing on our projects list are Techno-Wizard gear, huh? Okay.

I had an idea about how to deal with the TG civil war and funky shit with the Firemen. We could tow the base with us and put it into orbit over one of the existing canons, like, we could purposely hide it over a red world or a grey world.

Alternatively, we start meddling in internal politics and stick our fingers in the pie to try to affect/prevent how the Civil War starts or something.

We could also attempt to strike a deal with the 5 SUEs and hide the base over their world.

    >We could also attempt to strike a deal with the 5 SUEs and hide the base over their world.
Doing something like that would get all sides to label us as traitors and send a TG Black Ops team to neutralize us.

As for sticking our noses into the brewing civil war, I think we should try to affect things, but not directly. Keep in mind that with the contract with Philemon we signed, we're skirting the line. That's on top of our stunt with the Orz, and the G-Man taking an interest in us, and our willingness to share information with the TSAB.
We need to not attract attention from the Firemen, and we don't know who this spook coming to Sector HQ is aligned with. If they're a Moderate, then maybe there can be some kind of understanding. If they're Messiah, maybe we can help them out a little. But if they're a Fireman, then we're fucked and need to stay under the radar.

    Lance of Longinus
    Blue crystals
    Reality disruptors
    Cheryl
    The SUE-in-a-tube
    VX System
And any R-Types we might end up acquiring.

Alternatively, we could align with either the Messiah or the Firemen factions.

What we do need to do somehow, is to get another sector battlegroup or two on our side. It would be great if we could get Black Ops on our side.

We've got no contacts with the other Sector Task Forces, or with their Sector HQ's. They're already dealing with their own sectors getting ripped apart, and since we were at the center of this whole damn mess, they will not look upon us kindly.

My points still stand. We don't have contacts with anyone at High Command, or with anyone in Black Ops. Why would Black Ops having anything to do with us, when we're the exact fit for their targets.
How would we go about contacting other task forces, especially since we don't have our own Meta comm array? The only way would be to go through their Sector HQ's, without knowing the next time that they're expected back because they're out on patrol doing their jobs. And we don't have any contacts within any other Sector HQ's or their attendant branch bases.
And as I stated before, this whole wave of shit for everyone else started with our sector. Even if we weren't the ones who caused it, the shit started from our jurisdiction, and we didn't clamp down on it fast enough to prevent it from spilling over into neighboring sectors.
Even if that's not true, even if we did everything we could, that won't stop people from being pissed off at us as they lose their own crews to a problem that we were supposed to contain.
    >> Anonymous 01/12/12(Thu)15:57 No.17517370
    >>17517231

And here we have people not wanting to have the Meta Comm Array. Maybe it's a good time to get one running?

In any case, I have a game plan for the next few turns:

    1. We send one of the ISDs + some Command Crew to escort Yellowman on the scouting mission.
    2. We leave SOME of the Command Crew at the base, and disguise them as ordinary staff/zombie hunters, while the actual zombie hunter squads are on our ships. The Command Crew left behind is to spy on what's going on.
    3. We keep the Longinus data with us on the Storm and continue researching there for the meantime. We get Mouse to help us secure our systems.
    4. Start watching any communication signals hiding any encrypted commands going to our systems.

This way we can keep tabs on three things going at once: Our current mission, the scouting operation, and whatever isg going on in the base.

All Under Heaven is pretty damn big, 19 km long. How big is the Storm compared to it? We could have some space for R&D if we could.

    >1. We send one of the ISDs + some Command Crew to escort Yellowman on the scouting mission.
    Compromises Yellowman's scouting mission.
You're sending a battleship with no stealth systems along with a small stealth destroyer, on a mission that requires stealth and speed.

    >2. We leave SOME of the Command Crew at the base, and disguise them as ordinary staff/zombie hunters, while the actual zombie hunter squads are on our ships. The Command Crew left behind is to spy on what's going on.
You propose that we try to disguise people who have known security clearances, have their faces, fingerprints, and DNA on file, and who have interacted with and are well known to the base's regular staff. Besides the fact that none of the command staff are trained for infiltration missions.

    >4. Start watching any communication signals hiding any encrypted commands going to our systems.
We don't have a communications suite so what transmissions would we be looking for?
And if it's for a hidden killswitch or other High Command override, it would either not be connected directly to the ship network or the backdoors would be hidden deep within A.N.O.N.'s programming where we can't get at them.
Also you think that such meddling would be without consequences?
    >> Anonymous 01/12/12(Thu)17:09 No.17517968
    >>17517492

If you don't like what I suggested, why don't YOU propose an idea as well? Purely criticizing isn't really much of a contribution as people would like to think.

1.We don't have a Meta-communications array. We can get away with doctoring the information in the base system for a while.

2.We could also use some of our technology for disguises. The other thing we can do is to leave a cloaked protoss observer or the BLU spy. The reason why we want to leave some of the Command Crew behind is, for metagaming reasons. What happens is that whatever is going on in the base, will start showing up in the thread while we're running missions.

    3. We doctor the log files of which people are where, conveniently "leaving behind" some of the crew to keep an eye on things.

    4. What's important is that the spy from HQ needs to be monitored very, very well. Like, not trying to tamper with our stuff or information.

    5. As for hidden commands inside communication signals, we want to protect our information.

    >1. We send one of the ISDs + some Command Crew to escort Yellowman on the scouting mission.

How about something less conspicuous? It can also be an opportunity to test out the RVF-25 + compact transit drive idea at the same time.

Yes, the VF-25 has active stealth systems installed. We could look into that first before we send them out again.
    >> Potential Writefag 01/12/12(Thu)17:22 No.17518076
    >>17517370
I'm pretty sure that the All Under Heaven outmasses the Oncoming Storm by several magnitudes. The reason we could take it with us is the fact we extended our Transit field to maximum size when we looted it and the ISDs. Plus the fact it's received a massive amount of automation to cut down crew size, and we've got ourselves a massive research facility. Hell, if need be we could probably make it into a full-blown sector base if we had to. SSDs are fucking beasts, especially with the upgrades we've given it.

What I would like, though, is to get Mouse to give the computers and programming of all our ships EXCEPT the Storm a thorough going over for hidden backdoors and boobytraps and override routines and the like. And delete/plug/secure/change the codes for all of them. Keep it quiet but if anyone asks, tell them we're having our resident hacker test computer core defenses and advise us to possible weak points a hacker or S.U.E. might try to exploit. Once Mouse gets done with his anti-sabotage work, we take the codes and keep them as READ AND DESTROY codes for our command crew. Not even Holtz or anyone else should know the *real* codes. A.N.O.N. does NOT get these codes. We do not MENTION or LET ON TO THE EXISTENCE OF these codes. If A.N.O.N. or other command forces need access to their systems, we have Mouse set up a perfectly-disguised sandbox control system or something that filters the commands entered to check for hackers, and sends the related crew a discrete but INTRUDER ALERT flag to appropriate security forces.

It'd also be damn good experience for him. Maybe get him started on the path to him going all Hollywood Hacking on shit when we need speed-hacks.
    >> Anonymous 01/12/12(Thu)17:37 No.17518195
Well, I guess there is one advantage on not having a meta-com.

Anyone starts howling at us, point out the fact that we've provided the upgrades for the Reality Emitters, we invented the Omega Trap, we CAPTURED A LIVING SUE, we've killed a FUCKING GOD...

Can't do that with either of the extreme approaches, High Command. Sorry if u mad, but we've most probably got the worst sector to deal with. Your politics quite frankly sound like little children crying about a cookie compared to the shit we're dealing with.

Also, maybe tell Holtz we'll try to bring him back some special alcohol if he plays nice with the spook? That should be an incentive.

    >>17518076

Seconded on this. We this done ASAP.

Here's another metagaming tidbit about how this quest works: Our knowledge of events is deeply connected to where the Command Crew is. In other words, "communications range". This is why having Command Crew in several places at once will help us keep tabs on stuff in real-time.
    >> Anonymous 01/12/12(Thu)17:40 No.17518220
    >>17517968
A much better idea is to go to Holtz to have him use his contacts to determine the source of the recent flare up between the Firemen and the Messiah factions.
Also he can make sure that the improved Reality Emitter and Reality Disruptor technology gets distributed to the surrounding Sector HQ's and their respective task forces.
Providing the other sectors with a means of dealing with their own problems more effectively and better protecting their personnel will go a long way towards garnering good will and allies from among the other sector task forces.

Also get Holtz and our scientists and engineers to slap a Meta-transponder into the machinery of the Vampire S.U.E. so that if it gets stolen it can be tracked. The machinery that's used to keep the S.U.E. alive and subdued is a mishmash of different magics and technologies, and so will be difficult to determine what actually belongs there and not.

There's no need to look over Yellowman's shoulder, and he would take it as an insult if we did so.

The Lance of Longinus and the S2 organ are already contained within the Storm's containment bay as we do research on it so further action is unnecessary.

What is important is that we don't do anything that will attract the attention of the incoming spook, and have his attention focused on Holtz until we can get out of dock.

    >>17518076
This is a good example of how to secure our computer systems, and should be implemented.

I would say that developing our own heavy firewalls for our ships is a good idea in general, and file that in with the rest of our research. Just cite it as setting up another line of defense against SUEs or Void Engineer Hackers.
Between Data, Mouse, and a Techno-Wizard they can figure out the ins and outs of our systems and start our teams working on a solid defense against intrusion.

How exactly are the separated portions of the Command Crew going to communicate knowledge to the other portions?
How can these members, separated by dimensional barriers and distances measured in light-years, transfer information between each other?
Your suggestions smacks of using out-of-character knowledge. We can get away with using wikipedia and other sources because the Command Crew are MetaEarth natives, to whom all of the Canons are their entertainment given form.

So you want us to use a S.U.E. like ability to break the 5th Wall separating the Meta setting from us, the players, and drive around portions of the Command Crew like a Borg Collective.
Why don't you have one of the Command Crew transferred back to MetaEarth and High Command, in order to keep tabs on the upper echelon politics? We may as well leave a Command Crew member at Sector HQ to act as another ansible node, and one at each branch base to coordinate requisition requests.

We are the Command Crew, but that doesn't mean that information of events that happens to one group can be known or acted upon immediately by another group.

We've got no contacts, are in a military command structure, and any attempt to buck that will result in us being put under a microscope. In the current political climate at High Command, there's a good chance for demotion and being put on Twilight Duty.

The only way to make contacts is to go through Holtz, who has had decades to make connections with other sector managers and task force commanders. He can also direct us towards any contacts he has at High Command, preferably Moderates.
We can send them research data and materials, and even resources we acquire, to bolster their own position and standing. Same with Holtz; the more tech advancements come out of his sector, the better he'll look. Also if his sector gets its shit together and stabilizes.

    >We could make a visit in person using the ISDs.
I would suggest against that. Depending on the task force, that would be like telling them that we don't think they can handle their own shit, and need to be bailed out.
There's also the consideration that the faster we get our sector stabilized, the better that Holtz will look and that he will be able to start throwing more support behind the Moderates.
Also, it'll take more of the wind out the Firemen's sails, proving that we CAN handle things with our current low- to medium-impact response protocol. That would let the Moderates and the Messiah factions push back against the Firemen.
