ALL SHIPS STAND PREPARED! IT'S TG QUEST!!!!

    Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17446362/

NO TIME FOR EXPLANATION! SOLDIER IS BEING DECAPITATED!!!

The fifteen foot vault door slowly creaks open with the combined efforts of BLU team yanking on it while Soldier peers inside. He doesn't last a second before an oily black tentacle with bony armor plates lashes out from within the depths, wrapping around Soldier's head and easily twisting it off before more tentacles grasp the body and drag it inward. Your light falls upon the vault's interior, illuminating a vast bulk of dark, rubbery, amorphous flesh studded with bony plates and a single glowing red sphere that looks like it might be a gem. As you watch, the monster begins to absorb Soldier's remains into its mass.

A note on setting, since it was brought up in the last thread. I cannot reveal too much due to plot reasons, but one thing you should note at least is that for all their talk, the Transpace Guard does NOT know the true nature of the Meta, and its inner circles discourage lines of inquiry into it.

Our plan is to take Cheryl, a Canon character, make her a Persona user, then have her use her psychic powers (as well as the after-mentioned Persona) to kill Ebon Night, the personification of Pain and Torture.

I lament that most of our combat situations recently have been "locate enemy, fire everything, repeat step two."

While we're shooting, we should have somebody on "effectiveness watch." Their job is to see what kind of attacks do the most harm to the enemy. Most creatures from Lovecraft's works get hurt by lightning.

The two Prawns think quick and fire their lightning guns at the tentacles holding them. The limbs drop the mechs and retract into the monster's quivering mass as the Prawns take minor damage from falling. As Mobile Infantry fire is joined by the combined force of BLU team, the monster's bony plates begin to assemble themselves to better deflect incoming fire. The gem cracks again, then begins to shine even brighter, and an orange, angular force field begins to emanate from it, deflecting all the bullets and causing a storm of ricochets that almost manages to take down Sniper and Scout. Medic manages to patch them in time, however.

A strong positron rifle blast (some sorta charged particle weapon?) was able to break through an AT field.

However, we have phasers that we can modulate to fire at different frequencies. We may be able to bypass the field or disrupt it if we get the right frequency.

Alternatively, we can have medic supercharge the Heavy and have him punch through it if he punches hard enough.

Pick up the Crystal and have the SCPs keep it somewhere safe, in a different area from the S2 engine. Bringing the S2 engine to it might trigger second impact, so DO NOT DO THAT.

Behind the other doors are various mutated Shoggoths. Can we see what kind of mutations they have?
This may just be my curiousity, but I'd like to bore a tiny hole through each of the doors after we leave, and check what kind of shoggoth is in each one. They might have more loot such as S2 engines.

Day 5 rolls around, and the scientists report that they've been able to piece together the course of the Elder Thing's research. The shoggoths in the sealed chambers were indeed attempts to harness the power of the World Pillar to created shoggoths capable of manipulating space and time at a fundamental level. Tests were conducted on the shard, a piece of the Pillar they had discovered buried in ice not too far from the main chamber. The Elder Things are not sure what caused the shard to be cut off, but deemed it a boon to their research to have something to run tests on. Mention is also made of another artifact removed from the pillar site, a twisted trident that screamed.

Several of the strange machines encountered by the team were in fact, data-storage devices. With careful experimentation, VP-99 is able to access them with science team guidance. They are working on digging through those, right now.

They can't regenerate from just the core, there still needs to be a body for that to happen.

Time and space manipulation with shards huh?

    It's dawned on me.

The Elder things made an experiment and created Chaos Emeralds!

    >>When someone harnesses the power of one or more of the Chaos Emeralds, they can perform different Chaos Powers, such as Chaos Control, and occasionally get their own abilities enhanced. When absorbing all seven Chaos Emeralds, they can initiate a super transformation, which usually gives a person the power to fly, invincibility, increased Chaos Powers and improved physical - and special abilities.

    >> Anonymous 01/07/12(Sat)19:27 No.17458368
Ok, so Ebon Night stole the World Pillar from somewhere, stole the embryonic Adam from post-contact Evangelion, and fused Adam into a shard from the World Pillar to provide it with power so that Ebon Night could use it to manipulate the world.
Indicating some instability with his pulls, he managed to merge ancient timelines of the Elder Things with the World Pillar and embryonic Adam.
I've been noticing a trend where the bigger his actions are on the world, the more unintended carry-through seems to occur as well. In Tokyo he melded 'gods' of evil together and managed to drag protagonists through as well. I doubt Ebon Night planned on that, or on the Elder Things finding and studying his keystone. Also, bringing in the spear seems unlikely to have been planned as well. (Side note on the screaming, the Spear has been shown to roar at times, perhaps the screaming is not crossover contamination. Though if it is crossed over, I suspect it would be tied with the source of the Pillar, just as the Adam was spliced into a piece of it.

The Spear of Longinus appears elsewhere too.

    >>The Spear of Longinus is a weapon rumored to possess great power. The wounds inflicted by the spear can never fully heal. In Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Nyarlathotep spreads the rumor about the spear's power and sends Maya Okamura to kill Maya Amano and fulfill the Mayan prophecy. The Knights of the Holy Lance each carry a "Longinus copy" spear, capable of temporarily sealing Personae. Adolf Hitler carries one of these spears, too.

The Aurors have not made progress and do not have the materials or facilities to research the patchwork spell further.

By the end of Day 5, your scientists report that they have managed to dig up a basic analysis of the way the World Pillar works. By siphoning the power of Adam, along with certain ley-lines and ambient energies, the World Pillar draws in threads of space-time, twists them and entangles its own energies within them, and then spools them back out again, altered. In this way it can effect almost any change imaginable on this world, limited only by the time it takes to 'charge' from the power emitted by Adam.

From the data here, it looks like the pillar would be able to accomplish changes much, much faster if Adam was re-fused with it, dramatically improving efficiency and speed.

This data suggests destroying the pillar would result in unraveling the fabric of this world. This is probably intentional as a way to make sure no one tampers with the device in an attempt to 'save the world'.

    Work is ongoing.

It sounds as though we need Cheryl to wrest control of the Pillar from Ebon Night, and then use it to destroy him.

We know that the Elder Things had placed seals on the stasis chamber that Adam was placed within; if we remove Adam from within the chamber, would the amount of energy sent by the crystal shard increase? We will likely need more energy available when having Cheryl fight Ebon Night.

Alright. Here's the pro's and con's of each:
    1. We go in now. We won't be able to capture the shoggoths alive, and likely to suffer some casualties. However, we'll have an extra day to analyze what we find.
    2. We wait. Safer, we may be able to acquire live shoggoth specimens. However, we won't have much time to analyze what we recover.

One of the Farseers gasps, his head snapping back as his body floats into the air. He claws at his throat, then his eyes for a few minutes before a guttural voice issues from his mouth.

"I gave you permission to LEAVE. If you DON'T by TONIGHT, I will assume you wish to... take up residency of a more PERMANENT nature," the farseer utters. Then his body begins to shake violent as his flesh warps and twists, bony fingers ripping out of his hands and clawing at his face before you realize that the farseer's skeleton has been animated within his still living body, and is attempting to claw its way free. The other farseers attempt to use their mind-powers to save their comrade, but in vain. The skeleton begins tearing off strips of flesh while uttering a high pitched cackle. Finally, the farseers destroy the monster emerging from their friend, a volley of psychic energy obliterating the abomination before any further damage can be done.

The Farseers report they have seen much... too much. They will give you a report in a short while, but warn that they will not be able to far-see again until the Ebon Night is defeated, lest he visit the same fate upon them. They will be able to join in Cheryl's fight, though.

The Farseers report that Cheryl unlocking the powers of a Persona will not really help her in what she must do with the Ebon Night. Although her unlocked Personae will be the most powerful of the possibilities selected, she will already be gaining comparable powers. Essentially you would be giving her a weapon she already has, and she can only use one at a time.

The Farseers saw enough to know that for the best results, the powers of Persona must be unlocked in either an elite unit or hero unit. Grunt units will not provide as strong a Persona.

The lance is only slightly larger than human scaled. Someone could wield it with only a little bit of difficulty.

The Elder Thing research indicated it held some strange resonance with the pillar and shard, but were not sure what the relationship was. It was theorized that maybe this weapon was used to cut the shard from the pillar. Its listed properties included a great ability to pierce energy fields, and the energy it resonated with made it disrupt creatures relying on psychic or etheric energies to survive, making it deadly against them. Psychic species feel uneasy, even sick around it, though non-psychics do not seem to be affected in this manner.

I might start up a new thread tonight. I'd like to at least get to the battle.

Are our reality emitters being overpowered by the crystals, by the way?

And OP overruled us on them. They won't work near reality emitters. We're best off making more "non-cartoonie" robots like HK-50s

    You are.
There are other battle droids we could purchase that are more reliable and have just as much capability for combat.

Your reality emitters do not appear to affect the crystals.

Two hours of experimentation reveals nothing useful save that you'd need to haul them to the Storm for extensive tests for any useful data.

Darkness is beginning to fall. Depending on how generous the Ebon Night's definition of 'night' is, you have anywhere from an hour to two and a half before he takes action.

Start working on the World Pillar. We want to possibly "fix" it before Ebon Night comes to screw things up.

Hopefully, we can cut him off before he has a chance to attack, weakening him.

Damn you for suggesting two hours. Ten minutes could've been good already!

We wasted 2 hours twiddling our thumbs on the crystal!

Technically, it probably depends on where he was using as a reference.
Night and day can last for months at the pole.

Right. Break open one last room (the one with the red crystal'd shoggoth), grab the crystals, and Hoof it to the pillar.

I think we should chance it and NOT open the other stasis chambers.

Get everybody up to the World Pillar room, and have the shield emitters and all of the bolter turrets set up covering the entrances to the chamber.
Get all non-psychics ready to repulse conventional attacks by shoggoths, and have the psychics do what needs to be done with the Pillar. Have the KI with the Lance on hand, and the spirit of Gondegal.

Have VP-99 ready to bring the shard with Adam up to the World Pillar room if Cheryl is able to get control of the Pillar and needs more power. It is not come close to the Lance, or be allowed to fuse with the Pillar.

Just that the crystals were not implanted into the shoggoth, but rather the shoggoths were altered to be able to grow the crystals from their bodies and use them. The Elder Thing data vaults contain the accumulated data of the centuries, if not millenia this facility was operational. Throw in the language barrier, and looking for a specific item becomes rather difficult.

Anyway, looks like you're headed for the pillar. We'll open with that tomorrow. A plan may be in order. Good night all.
