    http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17138684/

It has been a lazy couple of weeks, preparing our first three heighliner craft, capable of transporting one capital ship and up to four smaller craft at a time using the new slipstream drive. Accountantbrate still seems very displeased at the expense of essentially building a carrier for carriers, but it is happy that we let go of the idea of simultaneously installing these engines into Zerg World in secret, and refitting all of our capital ships.

Over the planet Gyras, our carrier waits quietly, its passengers observing the last remaining tadpole creature we are using as bait. Depending on when its larger siblings left, we should be seei--well, speak of the Devil...

Twelve battlecruisers, a host of valkyries, and a contingent of wraiths that cloak before we can count them arrive in the system. They immediately turn toward our carrier.

So long as the tadpole is alive, they can follow us wherever we go. The Protoss are scrambling their defenses, but Dyles' forces will be upon us long before they can join the fight.
    >> Big Fat Zergling 12/14/11(Wed)21:17 No.17218491
Throw every escort ship we have at Dyles in hopes of slowing him down. Head full burn towards Gyras while broadcasting a distress signal. If it looks like Dyles will take the ship, self destruct it and hope the protoss pile in before Dyles buggers off.

We should also prepare a pure zerg force of our own, large enough to overwhelm his fleet, and park them nearby. We can come play big damn heroes to the protoss and hopefully acquire new specimens.

Quick run for shelter. And I though the heighliners were going to be able to hold more than 1 capital ship, while still useful on a logistical level the time to load/unload them will be annoying.

We feel like snickering as our closest zergling smashes the helpless little worm with an audible splat, cutting off Dyles' lock on our location. The ships continue bearing down on our location, but we immediately turn to the ship's controls and set course for Gyras' relative safety.

The engines groan like a Tarsonian Thresher Whale in the throes of death (a surprisingly common point of reference for the Terrans we've infested).

It was a relatively large breed of whale, hunted to extinction for sport before Tarsonis' Terrans had a serviceable space program. It was so named because of its gyrating rows of teeth which would slice its food into smaller, easier-to-digest segments. There are several companies that offer the opportunity to hunt animatronic or genetically engineered similar whales (this has led to the extinction of two other species, also).

Its meat is said to have been...passable.

    >>17218664
Decloaking is not an option as the cloaking device finally overheats and goes into automatic shutdown. The carrier will not be cloaking until that is repaired. The ship appears, directly in the path of the oncoming ships. Thankfully, the engine strain hasn't kept the shields from activating, and the engines (while sluggish) are responding. The ship makes a beeline toward Gyras.

(Should we send reinforcements? Pose as Protoss and set a distress beacon? Turn and fight? What? What do you want? Tell me!)

If the protoss have things well in hand, we wait until Dyles buggers off, calculate their escape destination and hit them while they're reeling.

If the protoss are getting stomped, drop into the battle as big damn heroes while making up some BS about sensing Dyles's activity and moving to engage him.

    Not a regular here.

One thing that has been bothering me while reading this quest. Every time you touch the damn ancient mother-ship, something get permanently destroyed.
Why don't you buffoons try to improve your chances before touching it again? You do remember that Cyberbrate is working at suboptimal efficiency and that we haven't yet repaired the damage to the processing plants we destroyed when we attacked the planet, right?
Can't you guys repair all that shit first? Then, it has been said that it will not work at maximum efficiency because it is an organic creature fused with machine-parts. Why not but our scientific team to research and develop ways to improve cyberbrates efficiency as much as possible?
Then.... What is stopping you from going from Computer PLANET to computer SYSTEM? There are certainly more rocky planets in the same system which could be converted to massive processors and shit. An ice planet far away from the star would be great because of its low temperature.

when you have done all that, THEN GO POKE AROUND THE DAMN SHIP. That way, you will have better chances at actually uncovering shit without destroying everything.

    Come ON.

    (Bastard)

The zergling crew of the craft, under our delicate hand, tweak the straining engines in flight, and actually manage to increase the craft's output above standard specs. While Dyles' craft get a few shots off, they barely touch our shields. We slide through space with grace and style, and by the time their ships manage to start regaining their footing, the Protoss have gotten themselves ready. We fly past the line of warships, turn, and watch as the six carriers and various smaller craft launch their first volley.

Despite the rousing sight, we know better than to be suckered in. Six carriers against twelve battlecruisers is a long shot. We suspect that the valkyries will not make things easier for the Protoss, even if they only carry standard missiles. If Dyles has taken to Kingston's method of equipping valkyries with a nuclear payload, this battle will be quick and brutal.

We stay out of the fight, watching as the battlecruisers disable, but don't destroy the carriers. The valkyries fire regular missiles, supporting the capital ships as they finish with the large ships and begin crippling the smaller ones. We jump away before they can turn on us.

A cloaked overlord arrives shortly afterward to watch as the remaining battlecruisers begin boarding the carriers. Two of which explode after a few minutes, their crew obviously self-destructing. The rest do not appear to have that luxury.

The wraiths appear to be performing strafing runs on planetary defenses.

After about 15 minutes, a third carrier explodes. That leaves three. There is panicked radio chatter across the Protoss bands for another half-hour as Dyles' ships continue beating down planetary resistance. Hordes upon hordes of our air forces swarm into the system like a chitinous tsunami. It has been so long since we had overwhelming odds like these.

Within seconds of our arrival, one of the battlecruisers sets itself on a collision course with the orbital platform and the rest begin picking up disabled scouts and the few corsairs that the Protoss had deployed as their engines build up for Warp. The two carriers also prep their engines.
