http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17138684/It has been a lazy couple of weeks, preparing our first three heighliner craft, capable of transporting one capital ship and up to four smaller craft at a time using the new slipstream drive. Accountantbrate still seems very displeased at the expense of essentially building a carrier for carriers, but it is happy that we let go of the idea of simultaneously installing these engines into Zerg World in secret, and refitting all of our capital ships.Over the planet Gyras, our carrier waits quietly, its passengers observing the last remaining tadpole creature we are using as bait. Depending on when its larger siblings left, we should be seei--well, speak of the Devil...Twelve battlecruisers, a host of valkyries, and a contingent of wraiths that cloak before we can count them arrive in the system. They immediately turn toward our carrier. So long as the tadpole is alive, they can follow us wherever we go. The Protoss are scrambling their defenses, but Dyles' forces will be upon us long before they can join the fight.
Throw every escort ship we have at Dyles in hopes of slowing him down. Head full burn towards Gyras while broadcasting a distress signal. If it looks like Dyles will take the ship, self destruct it and hope the protoss pile in before Dyles buggers off.We should also prepare a pure zerg force of our own, large enough to overwhelm his fleet, and park them nearby. We can come play big damn heroes to the protoss and hopefully acquire new specimens.
>>17218449Quick run for shelter. And I though the heighliners were going to be able to hold more than 1 capital ship, while still useful on a logistical level the time to load/unload them will be annoying.
>>17218491>>17218496(For reference, the carrier's been cloaked the whole time. The Protoss don't know it's there)
>>17218510Like I said, run for shelter/the first born. Or kill the tadpoles, maybe both.
>>17218510Well then. Wait until Dyles closes, then scamper off to the protoss.
>>17218538>>17218571We feel like snickering as our closest zergling smashes the helpless little worm with an audible splat, cutting off Dyles' lock on our location. The ships continue bearing down on our location, but we immediately turn to the ship's controls and set course for Gyras' relative safety. The engines groan like a Tarsonian Thresher Whale in the throes of death (a surprisingly common point of reference for the Terrans we've infested).(Roll 1d20)
rolled 15 = 15>>17218645Don't forget to decloak before we leave the asteroid field; don't want the protoss to get too suspicious.
>>17218645I want to know more about those whales!
>>17218716Don't tell me I forgot how to roll.
rolled 6 = 6>>17218753I fell dumb.
>>17218753Looks like it!Also, where are our other players? last week it looked like we'd be getting some new blood, tonight it's just us three.
>>17218782Confusion over the whole week before/after Saturnalia thing?
rolled 17 = 17>>17218840Or just a bit late
>>17218716It was a relatively large breed of whale, hunted to extinction for sport before Tarsonis' Terrans had a serviceable space program. It was so named because of its gyrating rows of teeth which would slice its food into smaller, easier-to-digest segments. There are several companies that offer the opportunity to hunt animatronic or genetically engineered similar whales (this has led to the extinction of two other species, also). Its meat is said to have been...passable.>>17218664Decloaking is not an option as the cloaking device finally overheats and goes into automatic shutdown. The carrier will not be cloaking until that is repaired. The ship appears, directly in the path of the oncoming ships. Thankfully, the engine strain hasn't kept the shields from activating, and the engines (while sluggish) are responding. The ship makes a beeline toward Gyras.(Should we send reinforcements? Pose as Protoss and set a distress beacon? Turn and fight? What? What do you want? Tell me!)
>>17218840Silly players. Saturnalia isn't until Saturday.
>>17218956Since the cloak failed, warp out.
>>17218956 I say keep running for the planet, and throw out a distress beacon. Let's keep our own forces out of this engagement, for now at least.
>>17218956I second heading for the planet and keeping our other forces out of this.
>>17218956Full burn towards Gyras, broadcast distress signals. Meanwhile, prepare and overwhelming force of zerg units to come in and capture as many Dyles ships as possible. If the protoss have things well in hand, we wait until Dyles buggers off, calculate their escape destination and hit them while they're reeling. If the protoss are getting stomped, drop into the battle as big damn heroes while making up some BS about sensing Dyles's activity and moving to engage him.
Not a regular here. One thing that has been bothering me while reading this quest. Every time you touch the damn ancient mother-ship, something get permanently destroyed. Why don't you buffoons try to improve your chances before touching it again? You do remember that Cyberbrate is working at suboptimal efficiency and that we haven't yet repaired the damage to the processing plants we destroyed when we attacked the planet, right? Can't you guys repair all that shit first? Then, it has been said that it will not work at maximum efficiency because it is an organic creature fused with machine-parts. Why not but our scientific team to research and develop ways to improve cyberbrates efficiency as much as possible?Then.... What is stopping you from going from Computer PLANET to computer SYSTEM? There are certainly more rocky planets in the same system which could be converted to massive processors and shit. An ice planet far away from the star would be great because of its low temperature.when you have done all that, THEN GO POKE AROUND THE DAMN SHIP. That way, you will have better chances at actually uncovering shit without destroying everything.Come ON.(Do my ideas hold ground, Cerebrate Anon?)
rolled 4 = 4>>17218994>>17219005>>17219032>>17219036>Warp out: 1>Run for Gyras: 3Broadcasting a standard Protoss distress call, we push the engines to outrun the enemy.(Roll a d20 against this 'un)

rolled 20 = 20>>17219175...Fuck I'm stupid.
rolled 4 = 4>>17219161
>>17219144(Actually, we repaired Cyberbrate's datastores. You guys -narrowly- avoided activating the backup Voidgate in there, which would have been OODLES of Dwarf-Fortress-style Fun. The Worldship's probably not going to yield anything more, and its issues are mostly that it's like, 80,000 years old or some shit. The fact that it wasn't completely gone is based entirely on me giving you guys too much credit on crashing-the-thing rolls. That happens a lot. I'm actually disappointed at how many of my evil, evil plot twists you guys have avoided...which reminds me. Somebody roll a d100. Pray for high numbers)
rolled 4 = 4>>17219229I like where this is going!
>>17219144Short answer, we tend to forget little things. Long answer, I could have sworn that we did download the core to degoba, and as for expanding cyberbrate to a system, I'm not sure what the ultimate usefulness of doing that. The starforge is more important, our new heighliners, dyles being a distraction, etc...
rolled 63 = 63>>17219229
>>17219240>>17219268Clearly this will lead to something good. Perhaps a planet-sized ice cream maker we can use to conquer the galaxy through delicious and brainfreeze?
>>17219190(Bastard)The zergling crew of the craft, under our delicate hand, tweak the straining engines in flight, and actually manage to increase the craft's output above standard specs. While Dyles' craft get a few shots off, they barely touch our shields. We slide through space with grace and style, and by the time their ships manage to start regaining their footing, the Protoss have gotten themselves ready. We fly past the line of warships, turn, and watch as the six carriers and various smaller craft launch their first volley.Despite the rousing sight, we know better than to be suckered in. Six carriers against twelve battlecruisers is a long shot. We suspect that the valkyries will not make things easier for the Protoss, even if they only carry standard missiles. If Dyles has taken to Kingston's method of equipping valkyries with a nuclear payload, this battle will be quick and brutal.
>>17219229Oh, alright. Good to know I was wrong. This just bothered me a lot and since I never was on when you host the game, I couldn't ask about it.Anyway, good luck with your quest, I love reading it in the archives!
>>17219329Let's just observe and have our carrier assist for now. Can we feign a communications equipment failure? Like, imply that the only communications we have is sending distress calls? Also, do we have a zerg force assembled nearby yet?
>>17219297>>17219268(Tragedy/Old God-like horror postponed for another thread)
>>17219387Any other hints about what TUCAMP just avoided for us?
>>17219387Duran fhtagn?
>>17219387What is it?
>>17219355(It happened pretty quick. Not surprising. Glad to hear you're following!)>>17219480>>17219431>Nope.wav>>17219456No, but damned if I won't find a way to put that in later, now that you've reminded me.
>>17219521You forgot about Samir Duran... I bet we could take him. Unless he's with Kerri, then he could cause problems.
(Anyway, in case you forgot, the Protoss over Gyras are about to get their weird magical scaly asses handed to them. You should decide how you're going to handle that)
>>17219613Sit back and watch. Try to make sure our bait ship gets asploded to hide the evidence.
>>17219613By not handling it. If Dyles continues its push into tosspace, then we'll step in, but the whol point was to get dem mouthless telepathic plant people to fight Dyles. And how many zergleks can we cram in a heighliner?
>>17219644Considering we only have a dozen on this side? All of them.
>>17219613Toss enough of our zerg forces at them to send Dyles packing. Make up some BS for the protoss about detecting his foul presence and demand to be allowed to kick his wriggly ass across the stars. We should also send scouts to any and all nearby systems. When Dyles buggers off, we can see which system he jumps to and have a second force of our units finish him off while he's reeling.
>>17219613my vote goes for doing nothing more right now, other than making sure our ship get blown to tiny tiny particles.
>>17219644>>17219662>>17219638We stay out of the fight, watching as the battlecruisers disable, but don't destroy the carriers. The valkyries fire regular missiles, supporting the capital ships as they finish with the large ships and begin crippling the smaller ones. We jump away before they can turn on us.A cloaked overlord arrives shortly afterward to watch as the remaining battlecruisers begin boarding the carriers. Two of which explode after a few minutes, their crew obviously self-destructing. The rest do not appear to have that luxury. The wraiths appear to be performing strafing runs on planetary defenses.(Decide what all you'd like to do, and roll 2d100 for Dyles)
>>17219955>>17219638(Oh. Asploding. Sorry. I hope this is alright)
rolled 7, 13 = 20>>17220040Now's the time to catch him with his pants down. Hit him with overwhelming force, we can't let him get his tadpoles on the protoss.
rolled 46, 16 = 62>>17220040We watch.
>>17220078(You rolled 2d100 and got a combined score of less than 20? That's harsh)
>>17220111Maybe the number 20 just loves me tonight
>>17220040sit back and enjoy the fireworks for now, if Dyles tries to move against more toss territory, then jump in and play the big heroes.
rolled 68, 70 = 138>>17220132Seems like a lot of dice fail going around tonight.
rolled 37, 97 = 134>>17220184It's only dice fail if the outcomes are bad, and ZQ becoming DF fun, while unexpected, would be "fun." Also there was bound to be an event to regain some semblance of "balance" after we got slipstreams.
>>17220078>>17220099We wait, and watch. After about 15 minutes, a third carrier explodes. That leaves three. There is panicked radio chatter across the Protoss bands for another half-hour as Dyles' ships continue beating down planetary resistance. Rather suddenly, power is restored to two of the carriers, and shuttles bring more boarding parties to the third. We wait and watch, but the carriers do not continue their fight with Dyles' forces. We fear that we have just watched something quite ominous take place.
>>17220238(Shush. I have no real sense of narrative structure and you know it)
>>17220253This is why I advocated intervention. We seriously didn't need to let Dyles get his tentacles on big, meaty protoss brains. Can we finally hit him or do you guys think we should feed him more resources first?
>>17220266I know, but it happens all the same. But now we have to step in I think. Zerg forces only.
>>17220336Zerg forces in fuckoff overwhelming force, with priority going to destroying those captured carriers. We still need to drop cloaklords in nearby systems to catch Dyles when we kick out of the system.
>>17220253Allright, I'm in for jumping into the fray now.
>>17220253Seems like the perfect time to go in and "save" the day
>>17220377>>17220376>>17220336It takes Warbrate a few minutes to get everything ready, and then we're off.Hordes upon hordes of our air forces swarm into the system like a chitinous tsunami. It has been so long since we had overwhelming odds like these.Within seconds of our arrival, one of the battlecruisers sets itself on a collision course with the orbital platform and the rest begin picking up disabled scouts and the few corsairs that the Protoss had deployed as their engines build up for Warp. The two carriers also prep their engines. The smaller craft are surely doomed, but the capital ships may have a chance. We doubt any of them has a chance to survive the onslaught, but we can let Gorn's scourge do their damnedest to absolutely ensure that for one ship. Which one?(1 crashing BC, 6 fleeing BCs, 2 fleeing carriers, 1 disabled carrier. Pick a preferred target and roll...what's the maximum number? Can we roll 10? If we can roll 10d100, that's great. Damnit, that's two out of three computers that have been banned for trying to make this post, so I'm going to give it one more try to round out the thread.Dear 4Chan: if there aren't any links, I can't possibly be linking to affiliate sites. You're being retarded. Stop it.
