    Last one 404'd, it's here.

    http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/17175541

    We continue.

After you and Momoji finish your conversation with one another you head back to the Clan's home and celebrate with Jako and his sister, as well as the rest of the Clan.

Midway through the festivities, however, you feel a sharp pain in your head as a distant voice rings out. "I'm sorry for the intrusion, Shingen Hyuuga, but I am Ikoto Senjuu, and I have been ordered to contact you on an issue of importance. We will be very grateful towards you and your Clan if you return to the Senjuu Camp post-haste, there is something we wish your assistance with."
    >> Anonymous 12/13/11(Tue)01:59 No.17198072
Bloody hell. And we just got here. Momoji's gonna be mad if we skip out but this would probably be best for the Hyuuga if we went. I say tell the voice we'll be there as soon as we can.

Well looks like we have some issues in Senju lands. It's something we'll have to deal with, it is our actual job after all. We'll just have to tell Momoji that something's come up with our official duties and we have to move post haste. We'll try and be back when we can, but it sounds urgent so we have to leave as soon as possible.

She hears the news and takes it rather well, thanking you for coming. To his credit, her father accepts your words and thanks you for coming and meeting everyone. Honda seems ready to go home and Jako stands up, ready as ever, and Midori seems a little upset but shrugs, "Well, you need to go back to work I see." The woman said as she hugged her brother and said, "Don't worry little man, he's a good guy, he'll take care of you." She said with a smile.

You hasten to the Senjuu Camp where a small group of men are waiting. Honda's father among them. They look extremely stressed and tired, the blond man speaks up, "I'm Ikoto, and I'm sorry to call you over, but we need your diplomatic touch. Relations between the Senjuu and Aburame Clan have taken a bit of a hitch due to a slight faux pas on the part of some of our Clansmen. Needless to say, the Aburame suffered a major loss at our hands, and we are really in the hole. We need you to use your position as an allied Clan to ply as much diplomatic favor with them as you can. If you are successful we will make sure the Patriarch will hear of it." He says and looks up at Honda and nods, the boy busy hugging his father and exchanging brief conversation.

"I wasn't graced with all the details. But from what I gathered, some Senjuu young-bloods were assigned to a guard duty as a sign of good faith and allowed saboteurs to decimate a sizable colony of the Aburame Clan's signature bugs, one of the only three they possess." He informs with a sigh.

"The Clan have a representative set up as a liaison to meet you when you arrive. You'll be dealing with aforementioned liaison for the duration of your stay. Tobirama himself sends his most sincere request that you achieve success." He explains simply before shaking your hand, "Good luck out there."

A quick hop across to the Aburame Clan's grounds which have changed since the last three years you were here. Now they seem to be a tight cluster of small cabin-like houses with lots of cloth overhangs and very few winows.

Outside of one of the smaller houses in front of the others is a young....person? It's difficult to tell with Aburame, especially from the back. As you get close, however, a swarm of the kikkaichu rise up from the person's sleeve and seem to be looking your direction. Honda shudders and Jako says, "I hate these guys. They give me the creeps." He admits and you see that the individual with the long braided ponytail is indeed a young woman with small black sunglasses on. She wears a white trenchcoat and the pauldrons of the time, a curled length of steel wire on her right hip. She walks towards you, the bugs floating behind her as she speaks in a soft voice, "You are the ambassador. I am Haruko Aburame. Names, please?"

You and your comrades take a walk, the two of them visibly pleased to no longer be close to that woman. Honda shivers, "She creeps me the hell out." He says and Jako nods, "Terrifying."

The three of you head towards the Hives area. You see a massive presence of Aburame standing there, their bugs swarming around, investigating the area. You see the remains of what appears to be a massive hive which stood about ten feet in the air. However, it is charred and blasted, all vestiges of structure removed by whatever caused the explosion.

The chamber which housed the nest had a single entry point and had a massive door, but the hinges are torn, wood splinters all over the floor.

Introduce ourselves (and our companions) to the investigators, state our reasons for being here (be friendly, but short and sweet, the Aburame don't usually seem to do small talk from what I gather) and then ask the Aburame present what they think happened and whodunnit, while looking around with our enhanced vision.

If the investigators are willing to speak to us, ask us if they want (rather than need) our assistance. No need to make people feel like we're stepping on their toes.

You activate your Byakugan and scan the area. The wreckage is mundane, it seems like no chakra was used in the assault. There are no signs of a struggle and the damage to the hive itself appears to be chakra-based. The material that the hive is comprised of is singed with chakra-burns along the ridges, which you can notice, but you surmise their kikkaichu can as well, as they are crawling all over it.

The Aburame are all standing there in relative silence as they are prone to do. When you introduce yourself a man speaks up, "I am Gen. We would actually welcome your special talents here." He says and directs you towards a corner of the room where a small black kunai is laying, seemingly discarded.

"Our inspection revealed this in this very spot, and though our kikkaichu tell us there's no chakra, we feel differently." Sure enough as you look over it you can see that at its very heart a burning seed of chakra is lurking. Closer inspection reveals a seal, carved extremely minutely and well detailed, right into the inner loop near the handle. The seal reads "Inferno".

This is pretty much THE reason we've been investing in diplomacy related skills. So that when the inevitable happens we won't have to fight a guy who has, in no particular order: infinite Sharigan techniques, Fucking Rinnegan, the ability to actually turn someone into a mind-slave with the Tsukuyomi, the ability to call down meteors, and steal other people's summons and force them to do his bidding.

If he's HALF the man he is in the main series cannon, we do not want to fight him.

I mean, or one success is cool too.

You rush into the battle, seeing the first man and his swarm of stupid bees. Stopping to adjust your stance and thrust your two-fingered jab forward, hitting his chest, sealing a few nodes with your attack and making him gasp and stumble back a step. The sound of a low buzzing fills the air, drowning out the bees as you raise your hands and slash down his chest again, his attempts to feebly get out of the way failing. The wound is cauterized from the heat but you see his body is suffering from the pain and paralysis of the technique, his muscles numbed and his eyes swimming. His knees are weak and his bees aren't willing to get close to him, the scent and loss of his chakra making him appear dangerous to be near at the moment.

(Damage equals 14. He's taken net 26. We gain 3 Grit.)

The next few shinobi direct their swarms at you, but are met with the cold shame of defeat as Haruko blocks them with her swarm, the insects waging war as bee after bee drops from having their minute chakra drained away by the kikkaichu. When a man gets close to attack you with a tanto she slashes him across the face with a thin rapier-like sword made of water she's holding before running him through, the man's body slumping over.

"Retreat! Get away!" A voice calls and the rest of the initial defenders flee for their lives from you both. Your victim is panting hard and kneeling, looking visibly not too harmed, but internally ravaged. He's helpless.

Having not returned home in a while we're bereft of all but our bare essentials.

She looks at you for a moment before saying, "As you wish, Hyuuga-san."

You arrive in the massive center chamber of the Hive where a truly huge bee is immobile, its hindquarters bloated and attached to various threads of organic tubing. A swarm of bees is waiting, but they do not attack, staying near the Queen.

In front of that is a tall bald man with a rebreather on his face and two mean-looking objects on the end of his arms. On his shoulders you see two globes of bees, swarming around, and as you see him breathe out through his nose the bees fly out and then crawl back into his body through his ears or eyes. "So, an Aburame...I see you brought a friend. Are you both so eager to die that you face me?." He asks, his voice muffled as your nose catches the scent of something subtle...and wrong. Haruko doesn't seem to have noticed it.

Oh lawdy look at them 10's.

Must just be the must of this hive, you rationalize as you look at the bloated Queen out of the corner of your eye. "No one has ever defeated me in open combat, but to challenge me in my Hive? That's maddness." He says as he strolls idly around you and laughs, "I wonder which Aburame they sent me? Maybe you're the Queen's daughter, here to prove herself? Or maybe you're the unlucky fool who got saddled with this boy." he says and looks at you with his pale yellow eyes, "So, Hyuuga, how are you feeling about your chances?"

You are about to make a witty retort as you suddenly feel your whole body burning, the discomfort only matched by the numbness as you gasp for air, unable to breathe. When you drop to your knees Haruko looks at you, "Hyuuga." She says, the slightest bit of alarm in her voice.

(We're gonna take ourselves 10 damage from poison and have to roll just Rank targeting our Taijutsu to try and not suffocate.)

As she turns her head, however, Tenzo is in motion. He flies towards her with a lunge that nearly catches her right in the stomach. By sheer blind luck she manages to turn and raise her knee, sending Tenzo backwards a step as she gushes kikkaichu, several of them swarming down to cover you and some, to your horror, entering your nose and mouth. "Try not to chew." She whispers.

(Then we'll need to roll Rank targeting Determination, or we'll be feared.)

You feel your chakra draining away, the bugs consuming it as you feel them getting heavier and heavier on your back.

    (Lost 14 chakra, we're down to 2.)

They take flight and the ones surrounding Haruko do as well. They occupy a great deal of airspace before, with a vibrating sound, emitting a slight, but consistent, downpouring of rain. The rain is tinted black.

Also, we seem ambitious as fuck. It strikes me that learning rotation on the sly could be a wonderful idea, if we can keep it from our clanmates. Speaking of them, how are our personal relations with our clan? We've gone from a very minor branch house to (effectively) a high up one in a short space of time, and with this success it's only going to bet better (worse). It might make sense to find out if this rapid promotion has made us any enemies (or new friends!), especially in the houses in between. Hyuuga politics must be a bitch.

    Dear god it's gorgeous.

You breathe in and your hands fall to the position they normally do, but your mind seems to tell you this is wrong. Relaxing you let your body shift to a more broad stance, your left hand higher than your right as you feel your chakra system almost click as you ready yourself. Closing your eyes you feel something strange, your chakra nodes open up at once and slowly seep the smallest amount of chakra, almost indicating their readiness.

With a moment of concentration, recollection, and preparation you expel chakra all at once, the ground around you, the leaves and trees close to you, and your friends, knocked back at once. Jako barely moves, but Honda even has to take a step back. Meanwhile you blasted the leaves off a bush and put a huge crack in an old tree. The ground has impact scars from the pressure of your attack.

Yet this feels wrong. This is something else.

(Shingen Style: Pressure Punishment, Untrained, gained.)

With a pause you try again and this time you put dents and holes in the trees, careful to not hit your friends as small impact areas caused by sheer chakra control are visible on the tree's bark. The trees on three sides of you. The trees about fifteen feet away. Additionally, as you look around, each leaf that was in the air now has a perfect inch-wide hole punched through it.

    Correct, sorta.

We can use it, but we use 1/2 the dice pool total, cannot crit, and do 1/2 damage with it. However, if we do get a crit, we do normal damage.

We can buy that off. When we do get MP again we can put it towards the jutsu. If we put MP equal to the amount the jutsu is worth, we get the jutsu, plain and simple.

    The short list:
    Our Chakra manipulation skills
    The Aburame clan's bugs
Chakra seals, both from our clan's signature jutsu and otherwise.
Our fooking eyes being able to read chakra flows.

That right there is enough to justify having the idea in character, having a vague idea of how such a technique would work, and everything we'd need to actually use a technique like that.

That's the general outline of it anyway. there's at least a dozen more specific things scattered but that's the gist of it.

    >random power outta nowhere that doesn't fit the character as he's been portrayed.

    1.We are a manipulative, chess-master style.
2.We use close and mid-range attacks
    3.We Count on our speed.
4.We count on our enemy detection.
    5.We prefer counter-attacking style.
6.We gather a group of strange allies.
    7.We are genius.

We are literally one step removed from the classic Vampire Archtype personality wise, and that is the bit that involves actually feeding on other people.

And we could fix that, quite easy.

As for the meta level, it's awesome for several reasons: Potentially endless chakra pool in battle, weakens our opponent, and induces fear in our enemies. Seriously, how do you think they're going to react when they see us kill their buddy, and then come to the realization that we ate his soul (metaphorically speaking) and are now using that power to hunt them.

Remember that 90 damage lightning jutsu earlier? Now imagine being able to do shit like that but MORE and BIGGER.

It's a serious power boost, isn't as far removed from character as you seem to think, and lets be totally honest here:

We're almost certainly going head to head with Madara at some point during this quest. We know this both IC and OOC. We NEED something this big in case it comes to blows, see >>17209273

The Aburame will NEVER surrender their bugs to our inspection so we can be Dracula. Ever. That's insanity. It's like asking a Hyuuga to give someone our Byakugan.

    I love you.

    >Chakra reactive swords.

Combine that with the puppet techniques we learned from that desert guy, our lightning jutsu, and the theoretical vampire powers.

Sword comes out of nowhere, stabs a motherfucker, paralyzes him, all his chakra goes away. he goes into shock, sword vanishes into the darkness, and suddenly there's a caped man with a horrible Bat-mask in your face.

Bonus points: The bat summons mentioned in that one thread now work on multiple levels.

Obviously we seem to be quite close to Kumo, but I've no idea how we're supposed to act towards our sister, or any of the others. On the subject of Kumo, now he's going to be Main House Hyuuga. How much do we trust him? So far his loyalties have been with his family, will they now turn to the Main House at our expense?

Is this going to be an envy thing where Shingen is the outcast among most of his siblings because he's a genius?

Like how the entire Hyuga thing involves fucking with other people's chakra. Sealing it, manipulating it, turning it against the wielder. Actually stealing it and absorbing it seems like the next logical step, now that we know it's possible.

    >It's also completely out of left field. Just because we happen to follow the archetype doesn't mean we should. We DON'T have what we need, in the slightest.

I'd disagree on the left field, we've seen enough shit that the idea could reasonably occur to us, even if we aren't 100% sure how to do it. I'd be willing to meet you half-way on this, like have it be a temporary thing only like our compressed Chakra. As for if we SHOULD... Highly debatable. Historically they mostly ignored you or paid minor attention. You are the youngest by a fair margin, and as such never really grew up with any of them except Kumomaru who always was your big bro. He liked you a lot and cared about you the most.

The rest of your siblings were out doing missions, or, in Emiko's case, killing samurai. She lead the largest counter-samurai series of missions in the Clan's history and is a war heroine. They call her the Alabaster Princess. She's the other genius in the family.

Kumo has always loved you and Father more than anyone else in the world, except for maybe Ran.

I was using that as an example of how we could justify getting the technique via contract. Since it's one move, we could make it the one UA we haven't decided on yet. Something like how we can spend a point or two of grit to drain a little on top of an attack, or we could go all out and try to rip a big chunk out by dedicating out action to that. the OP problem could be solved by making it a short-term boost like our compression technique.

    >Bats=/= Vampires.

    Now you're fucking with me.

    >So no, I will never DREAM of giving that for 20 MP.

That was an example. It was a summon (15 MP, or so I thought) plus one technique/technique boost (like how we can lightning into everything) for 5 MP and count it as part of the cost.

That five could be the base price to an upgradeable technique, like how Blitz isn't that bad for like the first rank or two and then the price goes UP.

I'm willing to negotiate here, if you're willing to meet me half-way. Several people in the quest said it'd be cool, I'm merely the most vocal advocate.

I can see why you might think that, even though nobody on the other side of the screen sees it that way.

If I might explain the reasoning: Our character has been shown as somewhat greedy, manipulative, cunning, while at the same time having a very soft caring side for certain friends and family. This is especially true when it comes to the women in his life, possibly more so due to some mental issues that come with growing up without a mother (and being surrounded by people who won't shut up about how awesome she was).

As a result, he knows that rejecting one or more of them is the right thing to do, but the flip side of the coin is that that means he hurts someone he genuinely cares about, and he's giving up something. Both of which run directly counter to both his Nindo and his general personality.

Given that he's beginning to juggle a bunch of plots at once, relationships are getting more serious and tense, and he's about to start making the big gambles even with a dozen dirty secrets under his belt worth his life and more.

He's emotionally/mentally damaged, greedy, conniving, and snarky. He's the embodyment of the trope of the Magnificent Bastard at his core (and/or is desperately trying to be) and it all has the potential to go so horribly wrong. But also to go so horribly RIGHT.

He's adding Gambits and gambles left and right at this point, and he looks like he's gonna fall bad.

And that's why we want him to succeed. It's not a fetish thing, it's a complicated love story that beautifully compliments every other aspect of the character and the story thus far.

I can understand you hesitance, but honestly? I'd throw out every single other concession just to kick that particular brand of madness up a notch.

Polite reminder, I'm not sure Inari's into sharing. For starters. We can still be close and not be in a harem. That's all I'm saying.

    Now, shall we press on?

The arrangements for the wedding dominate much of the day before you are beckoned to the Patriarch's, a very familiar call.

Today, however, rather than meeting in the big assembly room, you meet in his personal quarters. He is sitting on his cushion and when you sit opposite him the room is closed and he regards you, "Shingen. Your brother weds tomorrow, and that is wonderful news. However, I have dire news to share with you." He says and produces a scroll.

"This is our family tree." he says and points to the main branch where he sits at the top. However, beneath his name you see a series of names crossed out, with only two remaining. Ran and her younger brother, Hito. "Tomorrow, your brother becomes the primary heir to the Main Branch. We will make his Mark untouchable to any Main Branch members and teach him the technique to use the Mark." He explains before looking at you. "I....I am not comfortable with the idea of Kumomaru of the Eighth ruling the Clan when I pass." he admits finally to you before looking at you, "I want you to. Shingen, I want you to speak to your Father about disowning you, and then I will adopt you as my son. You are older than Ran, so your claim will be superior."

    Gendo Vampire Batman Hokage Pimp.

Mein Gott, it actually makes MORE sense with Gendo in the picture.

Gendo/Batman would be the perfect Kage. Vampire/Pimp clicks together like magic.

Gendo/Pimp would just about HAVE to be under the circumstances.

Kage/Vampire is an awesome mental image, and the darker/brooding aspects fit well.

Pimp/Kage he's the fucking Hokage. who's going to step in and say something?

Everything plays off everything else. We can now describe Shingen in five words: Gendo Vampire Batman Hokage Pimp.

Hooooo, boy. What to do, what to do.

...Shouldn't he have just gone to see our dad? Once it goes over our head, we won't be able to say anything but accept.

On another hand, I was thinking about how shingen would have achieved peace in the world. There was either conquer everything, or be like Zhuge Liang and establish power blocs that would act as a deterrent against aggression from each other due to the presence of third party power bloc.

Basically have Shingen be the architect of the Hidden Village System?a

    Bastard. Utter, utter, bastard.

Politics rears its ugly head. Ladies and germs, let's all pause for reflection here, this is a flash point.

Shingen will want some time to think about this. How ambitious is Kumo? Has he been this ambitious so far solely because of his love for Ran, or because he wants the power as well? What is dad going to say? Emi's going to throw a wobbly too. Shit.

    You bastard, OP.

In IRC we just pointed out that if we accept, all of Kumo's kids become branch house members. Seal and all. Shit.

    >>17212717
Point. We can ask the patriarch why he's giving us a choice in the matter (please don't, yet, OP, I think with something this massive we need, if not a unanimous decision, at least a few more answers first).

Kumo's only shown a drive since he met Ran. But whether or not that's who he is or what is yet to be seen.

Certainly. Seems like a good time for OP to finally get some sleep.

The way I see it, Shingen aspires to be so much more than this.

And having our brother who loves us be in charge makes our goals all the easier.

Act shocked. "I... I'll need some time to think about this. This is...." just don't finish the sentence. The fact that we're always so composed should underscore just how unexpected this is.

I'm personally voting no for various reasons:
First, it completely fucks our brother.
Second, It locks us into the Hyuga line. This means no shot at being the Hokage, and CERTAINLY no Harem ending.
Third, fucking our brother would reveal the dark side to our movements and ambitions. The very thing all of our plans hinge on staying hidden.
Fourth, if the shit we're planning on pulling in the near future goes south, we're minimizing damage. Whole clan goes with if we fuck up as boss, but if it's just us? Better for everyone. Plus the glory would be that much greater.
Fifth, Leader is expected to stay and lead. Meaning we don't get to go hopping across country anymore.
Sixth, we don't want to screw our family like that. Our Older sister and brother are easily as strong as we are apiece, and they might well decide to off us.
Seventh, Inari. Not happening with her. This is worth a separate point of listing besides the Harem ending just because of how kwayzee she is.

Eighth, we have to marry Hyuga. Damn near everything we've been doing thus far has been with the distant goal of getting ourselves, and our children, the fuck out of that viper's nest.
Nineth, A position of power like that implies a bias. We can still pretend to be impartial where we are now, which is critical to our schemes.
Tenth, fuck the Hyuga. Fuck them, fuck their seals, fuck the houses, and everybody who thinks that shit's a good idea. You know what becoming the Hokage and having kids would do? Put Byakugan wielders firmly beyond the reach of all that clan bullshit. without that insane monopoly going for them, that clan falls the fuck apart within 3 generations. 4 tops.

Seriously. Even the fucking UCHIHA aren't that insane when it comes to guarding their secrets and power.

The Uchiha, where a power boost means murdering and cannibalizing your friends and family.

When you make the Uchiha look sane by comparison, you have fucked up.

And that's just ten reasons. I got a lot more. For now though, stall for time. Even if I think the other choice is insane, I agree that we need time to think it over.

Also from IRC, who was killing Main House members recently? Who else is to blame for all of our moral quandaries and issues?

    Fucking Inari. Magnificent Bitch.

Is it just me, or does every time the OP says something would be difficult, have weird requirements, insane etc. The first thing /tg/ says is "Challenge Accepted". Would it really be that hard to let something slide?

We're going to have to make sure she doesn't kill our bro.

We WANT him to inherit power.

Worst Case scenario: We have somebody we like and who likes us calling the shots.

Best Case scenario: Puppet Ruler, at least in the short term.

I mean, I know there's the IRC channel, but this saves all of it for posterity for new people to the quest, and also I can't use IRC on this computer.

I don't know why but I can't get it to work.

All we have to do is explain our plan to Inari.

And about how Inari killing him would fuck everything over because we aren't accepting the deal.

If Inari knows we're never going for it, killing our brother serves no purpose. If our brother stands directly between us and power in her mind.....

Actually, I can't see how she'd think killing our brother would be a good idea either way. either we accept, and he's no threat or we refuse and he's not a threat because he's going down a completely different road than us.

Inari doesn't do logic. Not as we see it, anyway.

I think we need to know a few things.

One, we need to know how quickly to move.

Two, we need to know what dad thinks about this, if we can stomach telling him.

We also need to find out just how ambitious our big brother is, and we need to find out why and just how much the patriarch doesn't want Kumo to take over. If it's so much that he's willing to kill Kumo to take him out of the top spot, that's no good at all.

I think we're probably fucked either way here, folks. OP has played us well...
