    http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/16533628/

The Koprulu Sector is much quieter, following Kingston's death. The Morians have delivered their first shipments of tribute on time, and Accountantbrate is pleased that they appear to only be delivering a few percent fewer supplies than they should, which it believes is a good sign. The Protoss have not broken the peace, which we are willing to consider a good sign, as well.

Our convoy of ships, including one carrier and one battlecruiser, will arrive over Lutrious, our sole outpost in UED space, shortly. The planet is developing nicely, and seems to be relatively secure, despite the fact that we know for a fact that the Dyles Entity knows we're here and has vowed to destroy us. So far, the UED only knows there's somebody out there who helped save one of their planets from Dyles.

    >>16606738

Send out several patrols of Dropbservers or cloaked Overlords to scout out for potential Dyles incursions around Lutrious and the borders of Terran space. We probably want to know if/when the UED or Dyles is going to arrive.

    >>16606836
Aside from the three or four planets we've investigated, we're not sure where the UED's or Dyles' space IS. We're still in the dark about where the battle's being fought, as well.

But we know how big UED space was... a quarter of the galaxy right? Regardless, we need to actually probe UED space now, dropservers full ahead.

    >>16606909

Ok, let's append that order to be to send out scouting parties of cloaked observers and/or dropships to get a better feel for the surrounding area.

Since we don't know that area of space really well, we might as well have our scouting party split up and just try to map as much space as they can.

While there's still some quiet going on, let's see if we can't diversify our brood a bit.

Contact the Zerg Science Corp. Ask them if it's possible or feasible to try to create a new type of Zerg unit from existing species that we've already infested.

If that turns out to be a huge waste of time, we might as well try to browse the Xel'naga Worldship's databanks and see if there are any particularly interesting species we can nab.

Also, how are the Terminator automation system research going?

What sort of new type of Zerg?

    >how are the Terminator automation system research going?

We haven't told Cyberbrate to get to work on that, yet, since we haven't decided if we want to let the Terminators loose without Cyberbrate's control, yet.

(Nice try, but we didn't finish voting on that!)

    >Zerg species blending & other stuff

Well, the Mantalisk thing for one. One reason we were so excited about infesting the Protoss was because of their vast and distinctly unzergy psionic potential. Perhaps further research into what makes the base species for Mantalisks so psionically inclined could help us develop more baseline upgrades for Zerg units as a whole.

Also, we have a notable lack of units (or maybe we just don't remember to bring Queens) that are able to rapidly infest enemy units without being vulnerable to counterattacking from other enemies. Perhaps we can use the Mantalisk as a template for a fast flyer that, instead of charging up its physical attacks with psionic energy, can produce packets of rapid infestation spores. The Mantalisk is a very fast flyer as it is; if it could belch out nasty stuff like Defiler plagues or rapid infestation spores, it could be a very real hazard to any type of infantry we encounter. Dyles in particular seems to be fond of using absurdly enhanced (and notably unarmored) humans to engage in melee combat with our Zerg; being able to rapidly bring deadly disease cocktails to the frontlines could work out well for us.

Well, then, how about sending a pointed note about the dangers of corruption and the importance of internal regulation in the financial sector, lest important people get the wrong impression when their account numbers don't add up? If they don't solve the problem we can stage up our response.

Within hours, it has developed what looks like a slightly undersized human brain with hundreds of threadlike protruding nerves that twitch and wriggle as it awaits a computer to interface with.

Now, it is Cyberbrate's turn to create a Terminator that can carry the entity and react to its commands.

The only reason Raynor was even able to THINK seperately was because we let him keep him personality and gave him the ability to command troops with some psionics we mutated into him.

We just created Zerg-brains and are putting them into metal bodies. There IS no personality, there IS NO individual in there. Only an organ that we made to do stuff when we made it.

It's not so much Terran Marine vs. Dalek in my mind.

It's more like the Rifleman vs. the Rifleman IIC.

One is a medicore unit that's actually pretty good for anti-aircraft duties but very little else. It's also prone to overheating.

The other is a 65-ton horror with super-accurate and hard-hitting weaponry that can wreck mechs 20 tons over its weight class.
    >> Anonymous 10/12/11(Wed)23:16 No.16608100
I'm trying to understand: why did we go with a Zerg-brain cyborg, instead of the completely mechanical Terminator?
The primary purpose of the completely mechanical Terminator was so that it would be immune to the Dyles neural parasite, and so that it could survive any kind of psionic attack, like another Psi Disruptor.
Best of all, it would have the contingencies built into its CPU to try to restore us if such an event happened, like VoidGate's contingency programming.
    >> Anonymous 10/12/11(Wed)23:16 No.16608101
Drrrrrr.... we have terminators; and skynet's production facilitys, last time I checked. Thats half the point of doing the terminator thing instead of just building more gausslisks.
    >> Anonymous 10/12/11(Wed)23:18 No.16608119
    >>16608100

Because Terminators are MACHINES and Voidgate was a hyper advanced AI who wrote a shit ton of processing code for his machines which would take a normal human decades to sort through and then he has to double and triple check it to make sure he got rid of all the contigencies that could possibly backfire, and THEN we have to code more things into them that make them serve US with zero loopholes.

It's easier to make a brain to control them directly that we can just poke with our mind to make it do something.

Oh really? And what more advanced weapons or shielding will these Zerg-Daleks have than our current Infested Marines or Terminators? The Rifleman IIC is only better because it uses Clan-tech. We don't have that equivalent of better weapons technology to equip the Zerg-Daleks with. Your analogy is invalid.

Cyberbrate produces a shell that looks nothing like a Terminator. We are highly skeptical, but it assures us that it is a masterpiece of technology. Brains are bred for the machines, and placed into the first shells. The eye stalk lights up a haunting green, as we test the voice.

    "ZERG-lek OP-er-AT-ion-AL! We a-WAIT OR-ders!"

We send this first model into combat with two zerglings and two Cyberbrate-controlled Terminators. It blasts its foes, nearly disintegrating them.

We're not properly sure. Clearly, they are capable of destroying multiple enemies with great speed and efficiency. Cyberbrate assures us that they are capable of sustained flight, though they have no warp capabilities. It has integrated shields into the structure, but it has no cloaking device.

It seems that the speech patterns are a side effect of the interface between the Zerg inside and the machinery. Neither Nargil nor Cyberbrate is sure how to fix it.

Is it capable of AA fire? Can it detect cloaked units? Is its weapon range equivalent to a gauss rifle? How expensive is it in comparison to a siege tank?
It can only be produced on Dagobah, right? So have Cyberbrate concentrate on getting more of the planet back online and increasing it's computational capacity. Doing so should also help in going through VoidGate's Terminator programming to make it Zerg-safe for autonomous use.

    Ship some Zergleks to Lutrious.

Star exploring past Lutrious with scouting parties of Overlords and Dropbservers. We need to get a feel for how big UED space is, even if it is just blind feeling.

    Seconding.

Zergleks are awesome, but we can't win a war with just them. Let's see what other designs we can cook up with the Xel'naga's post-mortem help.

    I suggest a mobile battlestation.
We should also look at making a new warp network. Those things are crazy good for logistics.

Can we dump all data into our own, presumably more durable network? And be, like, really careful about it?

Let's take a look in design.

If we can find an efficient and proper power source for that one planet-stratification device we uncovered earlier, we could have a very useful tool to use instead of costly strip-mining. And also the whole planet destroying aspect of it.

Or maybe we'll find a way to greatly enhance our speed when warping, giving us a logistical advantage.

Or perhaps we'll find schematics for eleven million different types of fancy hats that induce feelings of intense smugness and overconfidence when worn. We will market them to all of our enemies and steamroll them as they tell each other to deal with it.

We're still stuck with an "extremely analog:" we can read things on a screen. If we want to copy information, we must transcribe it by hand.

After some time, the files of O-Sip's designs come through, mostly intact!

It appears that O-Sip was a cartographer. His accomplishments in cataloging entire galaxies was renowned for centuries during his life. He invented several ways of charting star systems from a distance, sometimes without even having visible reference points. Labbrate is fascinated by the complexities of his inventions, some of which it believes can be adapted for our use. Despite how it might sound, Labbrate thinks this might be a turning point in the war.

(And with that, I leave you. I'm zoning out, which is usually a prelude to hopping happily into my bed and cuddling with my pillow like a pair of breasts)
