09/28/11(Wed)22:47 No.16459880>>16459731 Despite the lack of hard data, the logs showed no sign that this...mass...was ever part of the plan. We doubt it's a trap. Labbrate wonders if Kingston might have lost control, and become some sort of feral proto-cerebrate.
Either way, the carefully-placed grenade destroys the creature's life support. Immediately, and unsurprisingly, the Zerglings turn on the android. Cyberbrate guides the machine's hands as it fires at the rival Zerg, but we notice with some trepidation that the bodies on the floor, Zerg and Terran, are getting up. They all appear to be covered in lesions and only mostly recovered from their wounds, but they are advancing on the Kingston Butler. Cyberbrate orders it to retreat. The advancing group immediately breaks off a small band around a corridor that will allow them to head the machine off before it can reach the tunnel which is used to reach the facility, so Cyberbrate directs it toward the facility's actual structures. The stairs will work as fine as a tunnel.
Meanwhile, we reach out with our thoughts, and feel the brain's psionic signature. It pulses to a sickeningly familiar beat. We attempt to wrap our consciousness around it, but run across what feel like tethers, and it begins to press back against us as Kingston's voice echoes into our thoughts:
"Now, now, Cerebrate. I'll have none of that. You're being very, very rude. You burst into my home, murder my fellows, and now you want to steal my Big Brain? Unacceptable."
Immediately, our units on the surface become hazy, dizzy, and finally, they blink out of our thoughts entirely.
From orbit, we watch as they load into the overlords, and begin to leave the atmosphere. |
