    >I know I said 10pm tonight, but I figured more people would be able to play if I started it a bit early.

    Last time on Skaven Quest...

    http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/16376474/

    >Plus a recap.

You are Ritakeet. You are a young Skaven who lost his home and fell down into the depths of Dwarf society. Lost and alone, a young girl found you and nursed you to health. She was too weak to understand the danger behind the Skaven, and soon you grew. But before long, others took notice. They hunted you and chased you through their system of tunnels until you became lost. Managing to gather some weapons and armor you came across a glowing stone. Proud of your find you worked your way back to the city, but the stone gave you... complications. The raw power of the warp contained in the stone pulsated through your body and mutated you, giving your eyes an eerie green glow that can intimidate at your will. Hellbent on re-uniting with the girl who saved your life, you managed to terrorize and Ironbreaker and make it to her home safely. But that is where things went wrong. The stone forced a second mutation right before her eyes, and a set of massive horns burst forth from your forehead. The giver screamed in fear, the giver's father awoke. Filled with rage you struck him down and made to escape the terrible city. Guards closed in from all directions and swimming through a large channel of water, you made your escape. Falling down a waterfall and landing at the bank, you laid your head to rest...

Waking from your rest with a bit of a headache, you squinted to get accustomed to the darkness. The roar of the waterfall was strong, and you could barely hear your own thoughts. Grabbing the Warpstone you stood and got your bearings. The dwarves had not given chase, and you were safe. Safe and hungry.

The escape had taken much of your energy away, and though you had eaten before you ran, the swim and fall took a lot out of you. Your cracked rib still pained you, but there was little you could do for the pain.

Suddenly there was the cracking of twigs from the wood's edge. Instinctively dropping down for cover, your black cloak hid you from the potential danger...

Basically I go with the first come, first serve idea until it gets busy.

Once a few people start posting I take the most-voted option and use it. Things like athletics checks are preformed with a d20, as well as most of the combat from now on. Basically are stats are the same as that as a regular clanrat, with additional Strength and initiative as well as the ability to cause terror.

Several large jagged rocks jet forth from the water's edge, sharpened by the rushing water. The forest itself is rather dense, but it thins out along the river. It is clear that the river was once much deeper, and the bank on which you lay is several feet below the line of the forest.

    They were huge....

They marched to the edge of the forest and stood, overlooking the river bank. Their silver-green eyes scanning for anything living. They stood silent, until the obvious leader waved his hand in the air and several of them leaped down and headed toward you, combing the riverbank.

They were almost 20 feet away now, three of them. The others still waited on the top of the bank...

To your rear the bank beings to lower, becoming even with the river itself. You lay crouched near the wall of the bank, about 30 feet from the waterfall itself. It would be possible to climb up the wall, but it would be precarious.

The strangers are tall and pale skinned, with black armor. It is sharp and deadly. In their hands they wield a variety of weapons. Long pieces of cord, curved blades, spears and staves. They are covered in scars and wounds, two of the three walking toward you carry nets.

Laying still you let your body fall limp against the riverbank. Laying as silent as you could, the few that approached scoured the bank, prodding at rocks, cutting through bushes and searching the water. They left no rock upturned and nothing unsearched.

One drew dangerously close, and adrenaline took over. You lay as quietly as you could, but he was only about 5 feet away.

I was reading the previous thread and was appalled that no one made immediate connection that the person in Food Givers room who tried to kill the Skaven was her Father/Brother/Uncle/Relative and that killing him would certainly break all the connection to the Food Giver and make her hate us/herself.
    ...
Not only did they kill him but also ATE him... And that's where I said "Fuck it" and stopped reading.

And please don't tell "Well Duh, we were playing IN CHARACTER".
There is one thing that I've learned from Quests on /tg/ that there is NO predetermined character that the players MUST follow. Almost all the Quest DMs will allow you to play a completely opposite personality from the usual norms (Industrial Elfs, Dwarf Gardeners, Alturistic Dragons, Genre-savvy Villains, Good Frost Giants, etc..)

So yeah.... it's a shame how the thing went though I will not discourage anyone and certainly berate for taking those actions.

    That's the IC explanation

The OOC explanation is that a lot of us wanted to just snarl and make ourselves look huge or along that line but those suggestions got lower rolls then the attack and eat one.

You reached for your daggers but the beast restrained your arms and pinned you against the bank wall.

    >To make their objectives more clear, I'll write as if you can understand them.

"I caught one, Lord." It said, keeping your writhing body pushed into the muddy bank.

The one he was addressing jumped down. It held a small scythe in his hand and was covered in skulls and bones.

"He looks frail... How odd to see a Skaven so close to a dwarf city... " Noticing your horns and unusual eyes, he touched them gently. "How curious..." Smiling he gestured for your captor to follow. "Bring him."

The one holding you latched shackles on your wrists and a rope around your neck. Dragging you up the riverbank they pushed and prodded with their weapons until you arrived at a clearing. There were hundreds more of them. They sat around fires and spoke quietly to one another. All around them were cages filled with living things.

It was not long before the found a cage for you.

Tossing you inside, they locked it tight and pushed it to the edge of camp. Scared and confused, the stone began to shake...

Giving yourself to the power of the warpstone, you feel the teeth in your jaw harden and turn strong. Your jawbones changed shape and your tongue became long and barbed. Pain shot through your mouth as your gums burst open to allow a second set of teeth to shoot free. The serrated edges were much longer than your first set of teeth and as your long tongue flicked in and out of your mouth, many of the captors stared in awe.

    >You can now devour small and medium sized enemies with a single successful attack with your mouth. Medium enemies that make an unsuccessful roll for the instant devour suffer a critical wound that can include the loss of an appendage. Large enemies suffer a critical wound.

Gnawing your jaws together you felt strong. The stone continued to vibrate in your pocket and it pulsated as your anger grew. With your new strength it would be easy to break through the cage, but impossible to fight so many of them.

Surprised by the question, he lifts his eyebrow and stares.

"We have to keep moving. There is a tunnel near here that can take us to safety."

Heading down toward a small ravine you asked about who he was and why he was willing to help you.

He was a Deathrunner, he said. A master of the art of swift kills and deadly arts. As he led you to the ravine, he admitted why he was helping you.

"Once I saw your fur, I knew that I had a job to do for the Great Horned one. My job is to protect his prophet. Hurry, we're almost there.

Getting to a small abandoned wooden hatch at the base of the ravine, he knocks twice and waits. From the left a rock is moved and a small hole is made.

    "Password."

"All paths lead to Skavenblight." Suskeet says.

The rock is replaced and the hole sealed. But after a moment, dozens of rocks begin to slide free and create a tunnel. The inside is lit with torches and small fires as dozens and dozens of Stormvermin guard the door.

All eyes lock on you as you follow Suskeet inside. Twice a Skaven reached out to touch you, and twice he pulled his hand away at your gaze.

"We will be safe from them here." Suskeet said, making your way to a massive underground chamber.

All around the walls were walkways. The wet wood creaked and moaned with each step, but the light feet of the rats kept them from breaking. Tunnels led in and out of the stone like a complex super highway, fires glowing along the walls. At the base of the chamber, small Skaven threw wood onto a massive bonfire, the green flame flickering and dancing as a grey-furred Skaven observed from atop a tall seat. Bells rang and chimed as drums beat a solemn tune. No Skaven spoke, they just watched.

"We need to see Thrask." Suskeet said, heading down toward the large fire. "He will know what to do."

Before long you had made it down the majority of the walkways and the heat of the fire burned hard against you. The stone in your pocket vibrated in response, it shook so violently it almost fell out a few times. It wants out.

    >What do?

Pull it out and examine it. It may have caused us to forsake the great giver of food, but it is shiny and told us how awesome we are; we owe it that much.

Wrenching free from your grip it flies through the air and into the bonfire. Exploding in the intense heat it turns the fire a deep, deep green. The smoke changed from a light grey to a cold black as it filled the chamber in an instant. All Skaven fell silent as the music ceased.

The smoke took form and danced over the great green flame. Two cinders lifted from the flame and made glowing eyes in the smoke as it spoke.

"Let none question my divinity..." It started, becoming more and more solid by the moment. Looking toward the grey seer atop his throne, it smiled. "You... Thrask." Stepping down invisible steps it moved towards him. The fire had died completely and nothing was left but his glowing green eyes in the darkness. "You know who I am..."

Thrask bowed and groveled at the feet of the smoky apparition.

"Good..." Smiling, the ghost took a step back and pointed to you. "Then you will treat my physical form with the same respect."

The ghost exploded with a violent eruption of flame as the bonfire returned.

Every Skaven bowed to you, their bodies lowered to obey their God incarnate.

    >End chapter 2.

Meta: The stone is obviously channeling the voice of a daemon, or maybe even one of the gods. Is the Horned Rat an aspect of Nurgle, or would we be betraying our species by following it?

In any case, we should hide the stone. Other skaven might recognize it, and our mutations would be recognized as warp-taint rather than blessings.
