Well, I'm a monster anyway. I might as well act like one.
I set one marine to very slowly weld the door open. On the other side, it'll eventually throw off sparks and look real dramatic. The rest of us hoof it to the observation deck. It looks like it's recently been used as an office, possibly even Kingston's. Either way, it's right above the Bridge. I have one of the more Zerg-lookin' marines vomit up his acid onto the floor plating. It's about as much fun to watch as it sounds, and the smell...!
It gets the job done, though. A man-sized hole burns through most of the deck plating. Underneath, they might notice a couple of slimy droplets of acid dripping from the ceiling, but it doesn't go all the way through. That's good. It makes the next part even worse.
I have the boys drop all the bodies we could recover on the trip into the hole. Two or three pile up before the acid-weakened plating collapses, dumping bodies onto the heads of those below. There's gunfire down there, then a bit of silence. I wait just long enough for something to poke around the edges, like he's going to look up to see if we're there, then we toss two more bodies.
The top one's holding a grenade. Not a big one, just enough to shock people, maim whoever was poking his nose into hole in the ceiling that's raining bodies, and spread those bodies liberally across the walls.
Then we drop in. Knees and shoulders, mostly. Positively ID'ed folk who are not Kingston take less precision, but we're looking for talkers.
They put up a decent fight, but they didn't really stand a chance. We gather them all up and start checking faces.
It takes a few minutes to realize Kingston ain't one of these faces. |
