No need for those blue texty screens in this instance, as you ain't finished the level yet.

last thing we knew, though, you had appeased the engine of the KORNHEISER HOVERING MINER TRANSPORT, but had not started it up.

    What do?

Also, I made that big Ol Page of notes some people wanted.

(I Should point out that the tunnel that goes DEEPER is too narrow for the KORNHEISER)

You look at the IGNITION PANELS. You've never seen anything like it. Leokadia explains that it is activated by patterned heatsignature, and that you need to drag your fingers though the indents (darker red) in certain patterns to make it start.

You all draw your weapons and proceed into the room cautiously, there is a miner furiously tapping away on a COGITATOR ARRAY, muttering about not understanding COGITATORS.

This is evident, as even you can see that the POWER CABLE is missing, rendering the COGITATOR useless.

Leokadia doesn't have as much TECSPERT as Nel or Locke, but she confirms that the device in the ceiling of the previous room was a fire alarm.

Toors Denote: A miner. Possibly infected with SERUM A. Had a list of names written in his locker:
'Sylvester Peter Matt John David Tom Colin William Paul Patrick Christopher'

Hunt Lowry: A miner, seems basic in his outlook. Wants to get paid for his work, as Sapp has been holding back funds. Seems to be lazy.

Kaleb Stenz: A miner. Was Infected with SERUM A. Serial Onanist. Killed himself when he couldn't get any decent porn.

Suam Kapunda: A miner. Had a coded message in his locker that read 'The Emperor protects."

I draw as much as I can predict ahead of time, and try to allow for a variety of options to each situation ( for example you could have soaked the towel in the shower then used the water to connect the cogitator to the battery) so for every path you choose, there are many you don't see. Even after Daneel there are another 5-6 different people than can arrive through the transponder. I have drawn them all even though, most likely we will only see another 1-2 if any.

I DO cheat a little, a characters pose can be one thing or another depending on how it is viewed. (Boones falling/jump/ballkick images are all the same model, just at different angles.

A few time, you've caught me off guard, but I tend to have a plan that allows for most suggestions. if I made up too much stuff on the fly, I'd have to rely on mindfuckery, which seems cheap at this point.

There was a bunch of characters in Ragged Edges that I wanted to give more story time. The Callibans, Kaz Grin, Kriegers, all sorts. But I knew a proper comic would take forever (I'm backlogged as is) and that my writing, certainly for a story of any length is not compelling enough.

Also, I love interactivity. I always loved SCUMM engine games and those old Ian Watson Choose your own adventure books. So I figured "fuck it. Quest thread." It's definately inferior to some, but I tried to make it pretty, I guess.

Image one: as usual, I have forgotten how to set my pens correctly. I'll remember some day. Bleh.

    Ok, CLOSE BLUE BULKHEAD!
    FIX LOCKE AND NELL'S TUBE!
    HUNT DOWN AND KILL HERETIC!

    Too broad.
You close the BLUE BULKHEAD, sure,

But you can EITHER fix LOCKE or the CHIRIOTUBE. Both will eventually be okay, but whichever one you DONT fix will be here much longer.

You can't just HUNT and KILL enemies if you have no idea where they are only MICHAEL and NADA have this ability, and they're not on your team!

speaking of hunt and kill, that callidus assassin we met had personnel info right? maybe we could get in this toors fellow's head.

I vote for not fixing either locke or the tube just yet. they're both okay for the moment, and we could use the energy-motron later. that's why we left them both here in the first place.

The Callidus was there to investigate the 3 people in charge of the facility, and she lived among the Security staff. She doesn't really know about the Miners.

We should probably fix the tube, as Nel would know the miners better, since she's worked with them. And we already have a tech-priest. Our Doctor-Who look alike deserve a nice long nap anyways.

he said locke or the tube. the hyperconducter is as good as two spare parts, which only means it can do more, not that it is literally two things.

I said it was as good as 2 SPARE PARTS ( it took 2 to fix the teleporter all those threads ago, for example) but it remains only one device. I'm really sorry if I was unclear.

And if we fix the Tube, Locke can fix himself, right?

    >>16188215
probably can't fix himself in a hurry since much of himself is currently powering the tube.

leave those two be, they're doing fine. we have a heretic-and-possibly-xeno to find.
    >> Anonymous 09/05/11(Mon)03:02 No.16188269
If we do anything here, fix Nel first. We already have a techpriest and Nel's got one of the spare parts.

But this is really just an option to switch party members, and we've got a solid group already. Keep the super doohicky instead.

You run the scan, things seem to be all clear. C-16 seems to be on lisening for something, as you go quiet, you realise the floor is ever so slightly rumbling. Not like an earthquake but like the hum of a machine.

According to the automated voice earlier, the grinder was offline, and power was being diverted. This feels more like a background electrical hum.

Ok, where could the bastard be hinding? (And personally I think we should fix Nell's Tube. Then Locke can fix himself better. we don;t have the 8 or so hours for Nell to heal, and I'd like to play with the Teleporter more. But if everyone disagrees then whatever)
I know the Turret s up, but I wouldn;t mind Locke having some more protection in the form of a team mate. Besides, I wanna see who Culuxus sends to us next. (And if we help Nell she can fix the Teleporter FAR better then our patch jobs)

MY vote is for Fixing Nell and calling in another party member, just to see who it is and what they can do. Plus, that frees up Locke to start working on himself. We'll EVENTUALLY need to get everyone off planet, and Nell can help fix up the Teleporter FOR REAL and not just our stop-gap methods.
Plus something tells me when we eventually fight Sapp we'll need more then just one combat monster.

You. All of you look at eachother and agree, (although you suspect C-16 is just nodding because she saw you do it.) It's time to get Nel back. Leokadia powers up the THENEZZ AUGER HYPERCONDUCTOR and places it in the CHIRIOTUBE.

Almost immediatly it begins to make the familiar noise of house keys being dragged down piano wire, then with a final thud, the tube begins to open.

Welcome back, Nel. I hope you had your Weet-Bix.
