Do the Wise's forces think they can keep the airspace clear, or at least the enemy's airborne forces busy?

If I remember correctly, the promised us air support and we have no idea how much help it will be.

You are a strange creature, capable of taking over other lifeforms to serve as your vessel. Your current host, Jack Winters, was unbeknownst to you a drug addict, and overdosed on speedball. To survive, you bonded with him, but this damaged you, leaving you separated from the bodysnatcher command structure. An individual by accident, you are hunted by the cyborg aliens, the forces guided by the illuminati called the Wise, and your own kin.

Absorbing the samples that the Wise provided, you mutated further, and asked Daisy and her cat to absorb some as well, resulting in some form of telekinesis and size changing, respectively. After a talk with Catherine, she decided to fight, and accompanied you to the briefing held by Director Fadil.

    Your known abilities are:
    - reinforcing your muscle and bone tissue, making you several times stronger, faster and tougher
    - growing weapons from your arms, limited to one on each arm in any combination:a hooked, double edged blade on your forearm, claws, a spike that springs out from your wrist underneath your palm or launchable bone spikes
    - hardening your skin into thick, segmented bone plate armor resistant to heat and energy weapons, and growing a membrane under your skin, that contains fluid that hardens on impact
    - absorbing ingested organic material, that you can use to increase muscle and bone density(animal tissue is the most effective)
    - the ability to call forth your host's memories, skills and knowledge
    - altering your appearance, includin skin\hair\eye colour, facial features, height, build, and gender, though the more elaborate the change is, the more time and effort it takes.
    - producing almost any kind of drug, poison or acid in liquid form, including sedatives, that you can deliver either at high pressure from an opening that can be created anywhere on your body, or through the wristspike.
    - emitting pheromones that influence humans
    - sensing the mind-link of bodysnatchers
    - enhanced senses, capable of switching to different spectrums (infravision, ultrasound, noise filtering, etc.)
    - fiber-optic nervous system, allowing you to ignore pain to some extent, and speeding up your reflexes by orders of magnitude
    - a pair of leathery wings growing from your shoulder blades, with a bio-fuel fed jet system underneath it, allowing you extremely fast aerial movement
    - superhuman sense of balance
    - four combat tentacles

    Mutations:
    -Perfect Predator
Noise-level sense, body better optimised for stealth, invisible to digital sensors and leaves no scent
    -Monstrous Strength
Increased strength, speed, and leaping distance

I had completely forgot to ask one important thing the last two threads.

Remember the agent who's cologne we smelled at the house of our neighbor girl (the one who is in league with the Fools).... wasn't it Jacobs cologne?

And this guy is here right now... I think.

If it wasn't Jacob, then who was it again?

    Sheeeeee-e-e-e-e-eeeeet

We should have mentioned that when we had the private conversation with the Wise.

Damn, wanted to ask that but then it slipped my mind.

Could Cath remotely hack his cellphone and retrieve information from it so that we could have more leads on the Fools? ....
    >> Anonymous 08/11/11(Thu)17:20 No.15903942
Perhaps we should mention the Jacobs thing to Fadil and be over with it?

Of course we should provide as much as information regarding that as possible (as opposed to just saying "Hey, that guy there is in cahoots with the Fools. Okay, see ya!")

Anyway, speaking of the coming battle. What have the Wise planned for us and where and when will we be deployed.
Also, what will happen to Daisy? I don't really trust these guys to keep her here alone with them but we can't take her with us, can we?

You walk over to Catherine, and take her to the side a little, and whisper to her in a voice that human ears can't hear."Cath, could you do me a favor, and hack Agent Jacobs' phone, PDA, or similar device he has on him? I'd like to find out more about his connection to Megan."

"You will be on a cloaked KP-21, somewhere over the battlefield, waiting for an apropriate target to reveal itself. If that is acceptable, of course. The girl will stay at our comms center with Professor Kellery, updating us with any relevant information she can sense through her mind-link." Fadil's hard-edged face softens a little at your expression. "Don't worry Mister Winters, she'll be in the safest possible location."

    I don't have anymore questions.
Lets skip the meeting (I assume there will be more technicalities that need to be ironed out). At the end of it (when Cath is ready with hacking) ask Fadil for Private conversation and share your concerns about Jacobs.
Perhaps even share the findings from Caths hacking attempt (if there are any)

Because it seems like everything has already been said and to get more information we must ask questions.

That sounds like a good idea. We're optimized more for hit-and-run tactics, not getting knee-deep in a drawn-out melee. We get dropped in, take out the leader fast, and then get the hell out of there.

You stay for the rest of the briefing, though you find the planning hard to follow, most of it discussion over troop movements, contingency plans and the work of assigning people to certain positions, including the composition of the troops and crews of the VTOLs assigned to you. The meeting seems to have ran it's course, devolving into small groups conversing between eachother, when Cath comes over to you, turning so no one else can see what she shows you. On the underside of her forearm, there is a small screen that shows a picture of Jacobs and Megan, the sour faced agent smiling as he holds the girl from behind in a park. They seem to be enjoying themselves. "I managed to find some text messages, mostly about where and when to meet, but... it looks more like two busy people comparing their schedules, trying to find a time to date than meetings set up between double agents."

Doesn't matter. We still need to bring this up to someone. I suggest Faradil.

Maybe one of them doesn't know about the other's job? Or maybe they do, but aren't exchanging any informations? Either way, it seems that they're pretty serious about that. That makes me feel a bit guilty...

So, do we tell the Wise about it? I don't want to take any risks, but is helping the Wise so much a good choice? Maybe it would be better for us to keep our mouth shut or talk with Jacobs about it in private?

If he thinks that is not enough evidence then show him what we found from his PDA.

Ask him not to take any immediate actions but to observe him so that we can get a better lead on the Fools.

"And, pray tell, how have you come to believe this?" he asks. "My neighbour, Megan Abazzio, is one of the Fools. I entered her house in search of her, and found Agent Jacobs scent. I believe that he was in a relationship with her, and might have unknowingly passed on information, that is if he isn't a willing collaborant." He looks troubled, and seems to consider something, before saying "That... complicates matters. You see, I was under orders to keep quiet about the Fools, but seeing that you and Miss Abbey are heavily involved in their plans, I see no reason to keep certain things hidden from you."

"It was common knowledge that Agent Jacobs and Agent Abbazio were seeing each other. Yes, Agent Abbazio. Until yesterday, she was an agent of the Wise. She has been suspended for the investigation she is currently undergoing." He rolls his shoulders a little, trying to get a cramp out of the muscles. There is no other explanation to how Doctor Smith has access to the information and resources he has been seen to make use of."

    >> Brain In A Jar 08/11/11(Thu)21:19 No.15906214
You get into the elevator again(how many times is it by now?) and head a few levels up. Richard leads you to a chamber that lies to the outer parts of the base, likely under the streets. It is about fifty meters long and half as many wide, with numerous targets on the far side. A large gun, with a barrel the size of your wrist, lies on a talbe, two men in labcoats standing beside it. "Let's get started, shall we?"

You get into a harness that has an ammuniton box on the back, with a tube-like feeding system coming out of it. They walk you through the steps of connecting and reloading the weapon, a massive, sleek black cannon with a digital screen on the side that displays data sent to it and helps with aiming.

You walk over to the range, the weapon feeling as light as a handgun, and just for fun, you shoot a small burst, holding it with one extended hand. The recoil is rather easily surpressed by your superhuman strength, and the sound of explosions fill the chamber, your target blown to pieces.

Very nice. Thank the scientists for the work they put into this.

(cont., I really need to get some fresh air after this)
One of the men in labcoats steps closer to you. "The weapon holds six hundred rounds. That means that continous fire completely depletes the ammo reserve in twenty seconds. I recommend short bursts to conserve ammunition." You nod, holding the weapon properly now, and try it like that. The recoil is nonexistent that way, your shells -not the Dual Purpose ones as the lack of shrapnel indicates- carving a single long hole in the wall behind the next target.

    "Any questions, sir?"

"Uh, thanks. We just kinda took it off an APC, and rigged together an experimental drop harness and feeding system. I'm Michael, by the way, and that's Lee." The other man, vaguely oriental looking, lifts a hand. "Sup."

"Well, it can penetrate most modern main battle tanks, though not to the extent a proper tank shell does. And the APDP shells' shrapnel can wound or criplle Warrior from bodysnatchers according to our field experience. Range wise, with the proper telemetry, the targetting system" he points at the screen on top " allows for accurate fire for up to seven hundred yards. Without that- and believe you me, it can get hard to get the proper data for that- it has about a third of that range. But seeing the way you handle it, I'd reckon it should be accurate up to five hundred." You nod, and say with a grin "Let's see how well this holds up, yeah?"

Stepping back to the range, you fire the cannon in three bursts, drawing it almost lazily in two vertical lines, a full and a half circle. "Yeah. This is going to work just fine." You take it off and put it back on the table, turning your back to the smiley face blown into the wall.

"You want to try an energy lance out too? Because then we'll need to go to another range." Michael asks.

What sort of options for reloads in the field am I looking at? Ammo bins that are air dropable?

"Well, you could probably reload from any of the KP-21s, they can drop it off too I guess." The man behind him, Lee, says "There's the fun pack too." in a lethargic voice. You raise an eyebrow in question. Micheal explains "We call it the fun pack, it's a rocket propelled drop pod with integrated stealth systems. It's real name is the LEDS, or Long-range Emergency Delivery System."

"It's got two modes. The first is slower, but delivers the payload safely, decelerating when close to it's destination, then kind of hovers for a second before deploying legs to land. The other mode is very fast, and pretty much slams it into the ground with enough force to lodge itself into reinforced concrete. For your ammo, we'll probably fill the chamber inside with fluid so the shells are safe from the impact."

"What? Oh, nothing like that, the most we have are kinetic bombardement capable satellites, you know, Rods from God, then there's..." His voice trails off, his eyes going wide. "I really shouldn't have told you that. Can we pretend that you didn't hear that from me? Please? Richard? You won't rat on me, right?" His voice turns into a squeek and he gulps nervously, looking at Richard with fear in his eyes. The agent laughs, holding his sides. "Mike, you really are hilarious. Nah, you're safe." The little man sighs with relief, then turns to you. "Let's go to the other range, then."

He leads you to the other side of the floor to an almost identical room, the walls covered in metal with some kind of coating on them. "The energy lance has ten shots in a clip, then you'll have to reload. You just kinda point it at something and pull the trigger. It has full power up to a hundred meters, after that it rapidly loses it's punch, to a maximum of two hundred meters. At that point it only causes the equivalent of a mild sunburn."

"Not really. The human sized cyborgs have about the same power output in them, but as long as they don't fire it every second, they are fine. Oh, yeah, on that note, don't fire it more than once every two seconds. At best, it'll melt. At worst" Lee makes a gesture imitating an explosion and says "FWAKOOOM." Micheal pushes back his glasses with his middle finger, and smiles apologetically. "Yes, the results could be explosive, so to speak."

"Now, the HKs, they have more than twice the range and several times the destructive power in their lances, and unless they overclock most of their systems, they can shoot as much as they like. Really, their power cores are amazing, we just can't seem to figure them out. The reason why we even managed to get ten shots out of one clip is that the Kellerys were put on the project. They are briliant."

He shoots you a sideways glance. "I heard Aleksandra Kellery joined you and your people for the last few days." His expression is a mixture of hunger, adoration and sheer childish wonder. "What's she like?"

"A tiger in the sack and with all that special ops training she's got, she's probably able to snap a man's spine with one hand."

Wait a few seconds before laughing.

"No, not really. She's been an immense help, although I can't comment on her scientific qualifications. She's brilliant with children from what I've seen."

Like a brilliant mad scientist you'd expect to find in a movie?
Seriously though, level headed straight shooter for the most part. Cant say if we really got the opportunity to see her at her best what with the whole constantly running from aliens and robots.

"So you didn't sleep with her?" You shake your head. "Nope. Nothing of the sort happened." The little guy let's a triumphant shout, then turns to his colleague. "In your face, Lee! Time to pay up!" The other man grumbles, and slaps a hundred dollar bill into his hand.

"What. The. Hell." He turns back to you, then looks at his hand, and quickly stuffs the bill into a pocket. "Well, uhm, you see, we had a little bet. Lee here kept insisting that she left with you because she wanted to have carnal relations with you." He perks up a little. "But she didn't!"

The taller man puts his hands on Micheals shoulders, and leans on him. "Yeah, see, Micky boy here is the president of the the Kellery fanclub." "There is no such thing!" He ingores the snapping reply. "Yeah, but if there was, he would totally be the president. I mean, yeah, she's hot" "You mean beautiful." He continues like he didn't hear him. "So, she's hot, but he's totally obsessed with her." "Oh, shut up, Lee." He smiles, and slaps the smaller man's cheek patronisingly. "Aww, don't worry buddy, we'll get you a nice girl soon." They continue bickering, but it looks like routine, something they obviously do every day.

Richard stiffles a chuckle. "So, Jack, you got anything else in mind, or do you want to keep watching the comedy duo?"

Michael looks up, and coughs with some embaressement. "Hmm. Grenades? Well, we don't have any high tech stuff, it's kind of hard to use hybrid tech in them. We do have concussion grenades, they seemed to be the most effective against Warriors, since they rely on overpressure and blunt force rather than shrapnel. "

"I guess we could put together a heads up display for you, keep you up to date with things." "We could put in the battlefield visualisation software too." "And a smart link to the guns!" "And a target painter for airstrikes." "And..."

They keep throwing ideas to and fro, and Richard taps your shoulder. "You should probably get some rest man. Hard to tell the time down here, but it's already nine PM. Big day tomorrow." "Yeah. I guess you're right." He sees you off to the elevator, and you ride up to the suite, pull down your shoes and shirt, throw them in a corner without looking, and explore the rooms, trying to find a bed.

You drop down on the king sized bed you find, with Cath already covered up in blankets on the other side. She turns and mumbles something in her sleep, but subsides as you slip an arm around her, settling down with a faint smile. Looking up at the ceiling, you find yourself slightly worried about what tomorrow holds, but soon, you catch yourself falling asleep, the strange, alien trees in your dream giving you a sense of peace and security.
