Bit of background, Giorris and Pheydios are about as chummy as Inquisitors can be, having been Acolytes for Inquisitor Ustnath together.
Giorris is the grumpy one that burned his face off and now keeps a charred skull under a hood. He likes actions, not words. He focuses his self-hatred at being a filthy psyker into burning heretics with his mind. He pretty much inherited his master's penchant for archives.
Pheydios is an Amalathian that inherited Crenios' penchant for training. Not a psyker, his fellow Inquisitor's curse of psychic power stops them from truly becoming comrades in arms. He's extremely interested in Botany, and the face of the two. He has ties to Lord Hax and a family (!) and ties to the AdMech strong enough to have a lightly armed Exploration vessel. So they fly around, purging all the enemies of the Imperium, given they're not either of them in an Ordo.
They were taught by an ancient biomancer puritan that has enough pull to be a lord, and he believes in constant testing and training, more training, and that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Basically the teacher from hell. He doesn't like technology, has huge archives really only navigable by his army of lexmechanics, scribes, and the like, and close ties with the Navy, even having a Recon vessel.

Helga was once an amazing beauty, in fact she was for the better part of her 350 years. However, there was an incident 70 years ago, a monolith was found orbiting a dead system and it was unlike any ever encountered before. While investigating, Helga and several others "phased" into it. Only she and one other emerged out the other end. He male compatriot was totally insane, while Helga had only changed physically. Her face, if one could still call it that, had smoothed out. There were no wrinkles, no creases. It was uncaniily smooth, and it had flattened out. Her nose was barely discernible, lips so thin as to not be there, eyes perfectly round and a litte too far apart, and her smile was always...wrong. As a result, she often wears an elegant porcelain carnival mask.

I almost imagine that Helga is a woman who if found a nest of corruption, or DiPaulo's little conspiracy, would disregard the fact she's just Obseletus and ram the Litany of Inquiry into whatever base she could find and crawl out of the rubble firing whatever eldritch weaponry she could find

Nobody knows. It was found beside a dead Inquisitor she had been chasing. She found him dead on his ship, with no marking on his body and no sign of how he died. He just appeared to have keeled over all of a sudden. Psychic scourging showed no sign of Warp treachery. He had simply died.
She felt a strange attraction to the pistol, and has used it ever since. She does not like to be apart from it. In fact, this brings her discomfort and eventually pain. It fires a purple, wailing energy that implodes whomever it hit. Or, she finds, when she concentrates, whatever.

one must wonder what kind of person gets attracted to the Obseletus. I can't help but imagine her as a person who feels an overwhelming desire to know, but also a person who feels like her Ordo is under appreciated. She feels like she's been dealing with things that the big Ordos are not ready to handle, and there are more things between the Throne and the Immaterium than are dreamt of in their philosophies

Well, she gets to deal with everything. From a planet where everybody over a certain age dies instantly to the cold fires of a planet that should not be, where she experiences things that only do not break her mind because she cannot comprehend their true forms. Obsuletus would deal with Woe, for instance, a planet said to live and think in some strange, horrible way.
