    Deciding to Slaughter them and save the ants biomass. The GREEN worker leaves as Soldiers pour out of the HIVE Cavern and tear the Carpenters in two. No match for the huge soldiers all 5 BLACK ants are killed. Idle workers scuttle out and collect the parts, placing them in a repository for later.

    Scouts have Returned!
    The Black hive scouts have returned.

    They followed the Armies of the Black ants through the green curtain of Tallgrass into the Wide Plains (a bypassed but not yet investigated territory) There they discovered battlegrounds littered with trenches and dead ants. Black ants hauled away dead and alive alike. 3 Massive columns of Black soldier ants and armies marched on past the wastes. The target?
    A single rust colored Spire atop a rock outcropping.
    Before the outcropping the ground was barren dust. Here Hundreds of Black ants were met by swarms of enormous RED ants, who's carapace was covered in sharp spikes, who's great pincers crushed 3 Soldier ants at a time. For every 1 Great RED beast that fell 50 Black would be taken with it. Only when carpenters swarmed the great spiked ants did the Soldiers stand a chance. Wasps also assisted in the battle, protecting the RED hives steep slopes from intruders by impaling them on there stingers and dropping them from heights to the ground or into the nearby muddy water pit.
    It appears the Black Ants have captured 90% of what would be the Red Ants land, but they cannot take the RED keep. It appears that while the BLACK ants have numbers and supplies the RED ants have superior fighters and alliances. The two are at a stalemate.

    RED mimic had already been deployed to the hill and met with scout that just returned.

    The Red Hill is an outpost, not yet a full hive, RED ants are quietly supplying it from the south and attempting to build outposts all over the quarry to create power seeds should the HIVE fall. They are looking into importing some of the Elite Spiked Ants up to the out post after the wasps reported seeing BLACK carpenter squads sent out to root out outposts. RED and BLACK ants still unaware of our hive.

    Bill for the Proposal of Alliance with RED Hive.

    I propose an alliance with RED against our mutual enemy BLACK. BLACK has a clear advantage of numbers, and probably too many queens to assassinate them all. BLACK must be killed with Brute force, which RED seems to excel at.

    Therefore I say we dispatch a colony bug and diplomander to RED Hive with relief supplies, to secure our alliance. We will offer them supplies, and limited military assistance, as well as intel we gather from BLACK Hive.

    During the war, we increase the HIA presence in RED's various hills and hive, eventually setting them up for a mass-assassination of all their breeding units.

    If we ever find aluminum, we should rust some iron and make us some Thermites. Haha, bug joke.
    We fill the mass of ground iron oxide and aluminum into bugcrete canisters with a little initial napalm charge. If we make a hole in the bottom, we get an excellent weapon against even the heaviest ground units.
    If they were hit by the thermite and thus by 3000°C hot molten iron slag, it burns through any shell and will instantly make the insides vaporize. Thus the enemy will be cooked and ripped from inside at least and exploded at best.

    -The GREEN HIVE Discovers that RED and BLACK ants are also living in the Quarry.
    A Diplomatic Mission is Sent to RED HIVE to negotiate.
    -RED is based in the mid-south in 'The Spire' and is under siege constantly from BLACK ant armies.
    -RED has hired WASP mercenaries, and pays them in goods and valuable Clay, from a liquid reservoir hidden deep beneath the Spire, harvested by enslaved termites.
    - RED HIVE Head Spire official, Representative to the Royal family meets them proposes that if the GREEN hive will break the stalemate and destroy BLACK hive that RED will pay them in Clay.
    -GREEN Diplomats decide to think it over and return later.
    -GREEN hive meanwhile digs tunnels towards the Redberry bush and Rock Pile on the other side of the Quarry and prepares an army for the coming conflict.

    Bill for the Creation and Distribution of DrugPhids.

    Using our newly accquired Bio-Brain, i propose we assimilate an aphid.

    The aphid unit we will produce will have a doubled breeding rate, a halved Honeydew production rate, and the dew produced will have an addictive quality.

    We will then export these aphids, passing them off as Special Aphids with a higher quality Honeydew to both RED and BLACK Hive. RED and BLACK will be taught how to farm Aphids, and will become increasingly addicted to the honeydew, breeding more and more DrugPhids to keep up with demand. This will put a big strain on their economy, forcing more workers to go to Tall Grass farming, and away from other endeavors.

    Eventually every member of the Breeding caste of each Hive will be addicted, and the food will no longer merit inspection. At this point our Mimics inside each Hive will spray a pheromone, which will activate the sleeper toxin in the DrugPhid's Honeydew, killing the entire breeding population of RED and BLACK hive in one fell swoop.

    Green hive having sent a Squad of Socuts to investigate the Rock Pile approached cautiously.

    Zyrx peered into the darkness of the shaft. It was a very long way down and though he had wings the fear of falling into anyting down there terrified him.
    He glanced back at the mouth of the tunnel where two of his brood-brothers stood watching, there wings occasionaly buzzing in frustrated anticipation. He had to go down there.
    Squatting he hopped into the air, the vibration of his wings causing a slight stir in the air, the humming noise echoing down to the very bottom of the shaft. As he decended his own shadows worried him, and at each side hole in the shaft he felt eyes watching him. Down he went, untill he came aross the first shaft hole that would fit him. There were many here and more still down below, mouths of tunnels that opened into the shaft, dotting the rocky wall. The tunnel he had chosen was lined in more of the fine white stands he'd seen at the entrance. At the end of it, a shallow room where a spear of light pierced the celing, nothing here and so he returned to the Central shaft. He tried again with the tunnel across the way but found it barred by thin wispy stands of web. Giving up he turned and flitted out into the darkness, decending into the very end of the shaft. Here he saw that the shaft opened into a wide chamber whos sloping roof and walls curved out and away before faling down to meet again near the bottom. The whole of it like the inside of a vase. Zyrx was about to push on when suddenly his wings ceased to flap. His legs dangled in the air until they struck something, something they could not see. A fillament, an invisible thread that clung stickily to his legs. He clipped at it with his mandibles and managed to get it off, he wriggled about trying to free his wings from the invisible trap. It was no use, he was stuck.

    Zyrx clicked his mandibles crying out for assistance. Far above the two Scouts decnded into the shaft to help. Zyrx wriggled more, he wished to be free of the web and leave this place, when his front leg caught a white strand or web floating in the air. Zyrx pullled the strand hoping to gain purchase, then he saw where the strand led. Cabled to the celing, in thick white cords, a bundle, glinting slightly in the dim light. A bundle like spun glass, at least 3 times his size. and there behind it another, and another and another. Zyrx looked out across the chamber, they were all over, 14 in all. Zyrx tugged at the line struggling more now to free himself. He tugged and tugged when suddenly the line tore off. With the creak of bunched cord the bundle nearest to him slowly spun around. Zyrx stopped stuggling and peered over to the exposed object now facing him....A chill flowed through him.

    Zyrx Paniced and beggan fluttering and flaing wildly. His brothers had arrived and clipped him from the trap with there mandibles, together they started back up the shaft.
    When they heard it, The flapping of wings. Feathered wings.
    The Scouts stopped.
    The Scouts had sometime earlier, spotted a bird circling the south end of the Quarry. If there was a bird living in here, if the spider webs were old or even if the bird was trapped, it was valuable, its biomass would serve the Hive nicely. Zyrx would have to go back. Alone.

    Down again he went, this time keepin a watchful eye for any signs of the ultra clear traps. He hit the bottom. The cool of the stone floor sending shivers into him.
    Zyrx heard the flaps, closer now and moved towards the wall. There in an enormous white bundle, pinned to the wall, was a bird. One wing protruded from the spool of webbing, flapping now and again irraticly. Zyrx stepped closer. He could not tell if he'd be able to grab biomasss from the bird. And then the wing stopped moving.
    Zyrx eyes were drawn up to the top of the bundle, where from it stood a thick, needle-like leg. Zyrx looked up and saw his own reflection staring back at him...from 8 souless eyes.....

    The enormous Spider stepped silently down the web, onto the floor, towards him. Zyrx stood, paralized with fear. Fangs dropped out from behind thick mandibles with a hiss. Zyrx snapped out of his trance a moment before it was too late, whipping his abdomen around he fired a Spike into the spider a moment before it pounced. Zyrx Lept into the air his wings beating with alll the strength he could muster. Up up, up he went, to the top of the shaft. He reached the entrance tunnel when he could go no further, he turned to see the spider already right behind him, the webline of his spike hooking him to it. Zyrx kicked the line free and scuttled to reach the outside again. He'd gone no further than a few steps when a cord of web shot out and caught his rear legs. The spider began dragging him back inside. This was it, he was going to die and be entombed in web like the Beetles, his insides liquified and sucked out.

    The Thud of the Colony Bug landing was muffeled by the whoosh of its breath. Right over Zyrx's head and down the tunnel. Chemical fire burning its way past rock and web. Zyrx felt the tug of the line go slack and hurried to join the others who waited now behind the Colony Bug. When the fire cleared there was nothing left in the tunnel, and no sign of the spider. Perhaps it had perished, perhaps not, either way Zyrx and the Scouts would return to the hive, and once again the Fortress would stand silent.
