just a question if anyone knows the rules, on page 10 when it list what foot units can shoot out of the vehicle and it list main armanent, does that mean the main weapon of the vehicle or does that mean the main weapon of the foot unit (so that if there's a HMG or RPG they can fire it?)

The gameplay wasn't "bad"(I put something like 30 hours into the game so it is fair to say I enjoyed it too on some level) , but it was far to console-ish. There were a lot of good ideas, like the buddy system you mentioned, that suffered because of the way the game was dumbed-down. Even on the hardest difficulty the enemy always reacted in a way that said "O I see you there let me shoot you... in a second after I've let you line up the shot with your gamepad lol."

Theres a note in the back of the Reloaded edition about playing in other scales and other basing thankfully.

For 6mm marking weapon teams and such with a specific colour on the base so they are recognizable, reducing the base size to 2x2cm and keeping all other measurements the same because the distances look better are the suggestions.

Well you can always go to a model train shop. HO is 1:87 or there's 3mm which is 1:101 (probably hard to find outside of the UK). TT is also close at 1:120 but again hard to find in the US. N scale may be too small at 1:148 though.

I'll probably just pick up a bunch of HO stuff for this and make bases out of cardboard.

Actually just looking at that, no, N is 12mm which is notably smaller. HO will probably suffice but it's an annoying scale to get hold of.

One thing to do to get lots of trucks and such is check for people selling their Flames of War stuff off on ebay, since it being Africa and not entirely modern, using lots of old soviet or lend-lease trucks and other vehicles should be perfectly fine.

Seconded, AK47 is a big battle game with a surprising amount of force restrictions for balance rather than something small with a lot of freedom for scenario creation that you'd need, which Force on Force fits perfectly

AK47 bump

Have been painting some infantry. No pics yet unfortunately. Started with White undercoat, used various bright colours on the clothing, some blander colours on the webbing, used the tiniest brush I have to do the wood/metal on the AKs (could probably get away with just a dirty grey across the whole as well). Had some fun with getting skin tone using a dark flesh and mixing it with dwarf flesh so that not everyone is the exact same colour.

After that mess I found myself experimenting with inks to get some shade in, since my wobbly hands were not doing too well trying the classic method of two tone layers. Devlan mud was good but to really give some definitive shade at this scale vallejo sepia did better, also tried using various colour-matching washes (green wash on green paint, that kinda thing) which seemed to work reasonably. A tiny bit of highlighting on the brighter colours will be required at this scale to get them to stand out.

The base is very important, get it looking good with a mix of flock/grass/bits, and possibly colour-code the edges(or an edge) if you have trouble picking out things like RPGs from LMGs.

Camo I have not tried yet, I fear it might work a bit well.
