Lawful Evil little girl: one who wants to get what she wants, regardless of what that whim may be, but is willing to operate within the rules her parents and society have set before her to get it. This little girl would definitely be the type to tattle on other kids to receive praise (as opposed to a lawful good little girl, who would tattle because she thought it was the right thing to do.)

    >Friend: King John the Frog

You understand the idea of home. It's a house. One's parents live there. One often leaves it to go to school, or play. One sleeps in it at night.

It is odd, given this knowledge, that you have no memories of living anywhere other than your tower.

Not that your tower is a bad place to live. It has everything you need to stay comfortable, and anything you find it lacks tends to show up in the expansions that continuously appear. Your latest prize is a nice cottage, which the tower seems to be converting to match its aesthetics. It's nothing special, but evicting the owner was satisfying. She's gone now.

King John croaks loudly, his crown shifting on his head a bit as he hops into the pool. It's not clear how he swims while holding his scepter, but this doesn't bother you.

    >King John summoned.
    >Imagination: 40/60

You only have one problem, which is quite recent. Lately, to the east, your tower's outer walls have stopped expanding. On that border, they bump up against another outer wall. You can see what's on the other side from any place of sufficient height. Beyond the wall seems to be almost a nicely decorated park, with cobblestone roads, were it not for the imposing castle in the center.

Agreed. If there's any way for us to get into the castle from our tower then we should do so. Do we have any kind of weapons? How did we get rid of the prior inhabitant of the cottage? Is there anything useful in it?

    >>14998397
You wanted the cottage, and she refused to leave. There was a battle. You imagined all of the help you could. Your help was better than hers. When she was helpless, King John ate her. Or at least, you think he did. He definitely attacked her with his mouth open, and you're sure she is gone.

You have no weapons, but you could imagine some if you wanted.

    >No voting until update, please.
    >> The Narrator !!fhyQBh9j3zK 05/21/11(Sat)01:50 No.14998471
You leave your tower and walk along the path down your mountain, following it to the edge of your territory. Actually crossing the wall is trickier. Neither wall is actually designed to be crossed. However, the irregularities of both walls provide the solution. You make King John give you a boost at a low point on your wall, then walk along your wall, balancing carefully, until it touches the strange wall and you can cross. From there, it's a simple matter of finding a soft spot where you can land.

King John is waiting on the other side, of course, just where you want him.

The system of paths is very well organized. There's a very direct route to the main gate of the castle, connecting to a sort of grid that leads to various smaller buildings. The areas between the paths contain various bits of landscaping. The one nearest to you contains a pond that King John has wandered off to splash in.

You make King John be serious. You don't want to be discovered just yet. Taking a roundabout path that keeps as much cover between you and the main building as possible, you go exploring.

It seems to work. Of course, this place could just be empty.

In your exploration, you find a carpentry workshop that appears to be used regularly, possibly to make wooden statues, a field of flowers, a tall tree, and a sort of abstract representation of a storage area. It is spotlessly clean, and its crates are neatly stacked and evenly spaced, but they are all empty.

You could explore further, but if someone is looking for you it's going to make you progressively easier to spot.

You imagine a firework. Then, not wanting to hold an explosive in your hand, you do your best to remember what a small cannon would look like. You point it straight up. When you're ready, the firework that was inside all along shoots out, spinning, hissing, and eventually exploding into a multicolored shower of sparks.

    >Firwork hand cannon summoned. Imagination: 25/60

A few minutes pass. Just as you're starting to pass the boundary from bored over to going home, the gate starts to creak. It slowly opens to reveal a young girl, flanked by empty suits of armor that occasionally adjust their stances, and wooden mannikins that do the same, more awkwardly. She is armed with a sword and shield. There is a second girl behind her, looking worried.

As Penelope starts her charge, two knotted, wrinkly hands grasp the side of the bridge. The owner of the hands pulls itself up onto the bridge. The troll is eight feet tall, and most of its features are concealed by thick, tangled hair.

King John waddles forward. His tongue shoots out of his mouth. Penelope sees the attack in time, and blocks it with her shield.

Moments later the shield disappears down King John's throat. He looks smug.

You fire your hand cannon into the crowd, but you don't have time to aim properly. The shot goes past the mannikin, barely glancing off of one of the knights, and explodes on the castle wall.

Penelope circles carefully around the newly imagined troll, desperate to get at you. She swings her sword, but with the chaos around her and her sudden loss of her shield, she is too off balance to connect, and her sword clangs against the cobbles at the end of her swing. She readies it again, unsteadily.

The automatons continue across the drawbridge. The mannikin leading the way reaches King John. He croaks and body checks it suddenly, and it spends a moment regaining its bearings.

You shoot at Penelope and immediately run.

Since she's at such a close range, she manages to parry the shot with her sword, but then the firework goes off. The explosion leaves her blinking and confused. There's plenty of time for the troll to knock her to the ground from behind, pushing her away from the safety of her castle. Penelope drops her sword as she falls to the ground. At least, she must have dropped it, because it's not in her hand anymore.

    Well that's unfortunate.

Well, we have two water-resistant heavy creatures on a thin drawbridge against enemies that we now know sink if tossed over.

Have the troll and King John advance, shoving the automations to their deaths.

Peneloie still needs to get past her own knights before she can get to the safety of her castle. Take a turn to aim your cannon at the entrance, getting ready to fire a shot where the knights currently are.

At best, we fire that short knocking Penelopie back into our playmates. At worst, she's directly where the shot lands and takes a direct shot to the face, hopefully disabling her. And hey, if we kill her, at least we made a point of asking her to surrender. That should score us some points with Isabelle.

Look at that straight line between us and her.
    It's beautiful.

Have John swing the mannequin he's got wrapped up and smash it into the northern knight, knocking him out of the way of the shot and hopefully knocking it and maybe the other knight off balance.

The troll can smash the other knight into the water.

Fire our shot, take out the girl, and end this silliness.

The shot is the green line that takes out Penelopie.

For that to happen we need to take out the other knight in the way.
John already has the other mannequin grappled. He can use it as a weight to take out knight 1.
Troll can smash up knight 2.
With everything out of the way, we can take a clear shot that we already aimed straight at Penelopie.

King John swings the mannikin about with his tongue. It flops around helplessly as it crashes into the front knight, knocking it to the side. Finally, it too ends up in the moat. It floats, but is slowly carried away, despite the lack of a visible current.

The troll punches at the knight, with one hand on its wounded torso. The knight parries with its sword.

Penelope seems to be running very slowly. The firework arcs out of your cannon, and you see it travel towards her. It's going to connect.

At the last moment, the knight in the rear jumps into the firework's path. The projectile lands inside of its helmet, bounces to the bottom of the empty suit of armor, and explodes. The knight is gone.

The knight attacks the troll from the side it is failing to defend due to its wound. For a second time, the attack strikes true. The troll is in bad shape, but it stays on its feet in a wobbly fashion.

Penelope rounds the corner, covering her head with her arms.

Too easy to have just killed her I suppose.

    Fuck it.

Troll slams himself into remaining knight, shoving them both in the water and hopefully ending the fight.

John is to engage the knight if it somehow manages to survive a massive dying troll launching itself at it.

If the troll does take out the knight, John is to advance into the castle and secure Penelopie with his tongue. Isabelle won't go anywhere.

We have this fight in the bag. However, there are still some questions that are unanswered. We don't know much of what's going on, and we don't know why Penelope is keeping Isabelle, a seemingly useless girl, as company. We assume there must be some tactical advantage to her.

We know that our power functions off of belief and imagination, and therefore we know there is a possibility that we could get stronger if we can gather more belief around us.

We know that we are lawful evil, and our priorities should be to figure out what exactly the rules of this place is and how we can exploit any and everything the system offers us to maximise our power.

I maintain that we capture Penelope, question her, convince Isabelle that we're good people (better than Penelope) and to come with us, then maybe kill Penelope anyways once Isabelle is out of the room because of the hassle the bitch put us through.

Right guys, we have two options here:

    1. Keep up the nice girl facade, try to persuade Persephone that she made a mistake, get her to explain what's going on and eventually try to convince her and Isabelle to join us.

    2. Drop the nice girl facade, intimidate, threaten and cajole her into giving us any and all information she has

Note that she's obviously vulnerable right now and it's not a reach to think that some helpful pushes in any direction can get her thinking whatever we want her to think.

Also note that we can still kill her after regardless of what route we take.

And it is not a facade, we really do want Issabell to be our friend, for the sake of tea parties.

I would go with option 1. Morally justified people tend to clam up when faced with an obvious enemy, and a willing confession can always provide more information than something taken by force. Having her be a permanent ally might be a stretch, but for now we can at least peel off any info we need.

    I'd start with an intro.

"So Persephone, lets try this again. My name is Titania, and before I met you and Issabella I didn't know anyone else even existed. You seem like a nice girl. Could you please explain to me what you think is going on and why you attacked me?"

She thinks. "I know there are more people. Or at least there were. I don't know how many. And I know some are bad, and it's my job to fight them or... or something bad will happen."

Issabella shows up with tea and an assortment of cakes. She serves everyone and arranges the cakes on the table, pauses, and exits the room.

Penelope hangs her head. "But I can't do that anymore."

"I think we both know that hurting people is bad Penelope. I also think that if you were pushed to hurting people, you would want a better reason than "something bad would happen."

    Smile again.

"Really Persephone, you can tell me anything. Maybe you can start by telling me why you thought I was a bad person? If we can figure that out, then maybe you can trust me and we can be friends. Issabelle is your friend, so you know not all of us are bad. How can you tell?"

Smile, swing our naked calfs back and forth on too large chair that we are sitting on and sing the nursery rhyme that we like and suddenly remember:

    Ringelringelreihen,
    Wir sind der Kinder dreien,
    sitzen unter'm Hollerbusch
    Und machen alle Huschhuschhusch!

    Then burst into laugh

Well, if something bad is about to happen, then we would want to stop it for our own sake.
She would want us to stop it for her stupid sake,
and most of all she would want us stop it for dear sweet Issabellas' sake.
If she could just get her stupid head around that. Tell her this.

"Something told me how. Or... I don't know. Something... showed me how? When I see someone who's done bad things, I can tell. You'll do bad things again." She's very certain of this.

"But why would I do anything bad when we all have the same future to worry about? One where something bad happens? I want to stop that. Wouldn't anyone?"

"I... I guess. It doesn't matter. What happens from now on is your choice."

I get the feeling she doesn't really know.
Issabella, who is our tea party friend, wishes us not to hurt her. We will therefore assimilate her castle, but leave her alive. She will be subjugated and serve us tea and crumpets in the park, on which we shall dine with Issabella. Then we can continue or adventure in the best possible solution.

    >>15000891

Right, so there's no way of convincing her that we're good, but at least she's uncertain enough to cooperate with us.

What we need now is a next step. It seems that both of us have vague recollections of memories that we can't fully piece together, I guess that we should be doing that. The question is, do we take her on our quest, leave her here, or kill her?

Also I suggest taking Issabella with us as she seems to be a very good friend/servant/tea getter. We need one of those.

...excuse me, I don't think anyone suggested that we call them servants outright. She made it very clear that she was touchy about being ruled by someone and the last thing anyone would have said was something involving ruling. Also, it's pretty out of character with everything we've said so far.

Fuck it. If there's no going back, have the King grab her off you and tie her up. We'll figure out what's next after.

    Still, that shit's stupid GM.

Because we want Issabella on our side, and killing her friend isn't a good way of going about doing that.

    We've been through this.

That being said, yeah, I agree with >>15001006 . Call out to Issabella and have her run in to see her friend clearly attacking you. Then command John to eat Penelope while shouting "No, Don't!" out loud.

John eats Penelope, you shout, Issabella cries. You apologize to Issabella, saying that you don't know what happened or why she attacked you. Explain that King John is very, very protective of you and stopped Penelope the only way he knew how. Apologize again and see what she says.

You're ok with it because you're the same guy who advocated eating the girl right off the bat because "we're evil lol".

And yeah, a vassal means servant, but one assumes that unless it's said in quotes you don't go about saying that you'll subjugate them. That tends to annoy people. Also I think only two people outright mentioned servant/vassal where most people went with companions/whatever.
