Anyone here play in 6mm scale? It's amazing, you can get 60 Infantry for 10 bucks, 5 Tanks for 9 bucks, etc.

It takes up a very small amount of space, and the models are still super detailed.

It's like the ultimate wargaming scale!

    >It takes up a very small amount of space

The point is that you can have more units on the table and play on a larger tactical scale, it's not like you play a 28mm game with 6mm on a 30x30cm table with 3 tanks and and a handful of infantryman.

    Yes, they'd be 6mm. :-P

I'm a fan of 15mm scale myself. Anything smaller than that seems too small in my opinion.

Would be very fiddly and and LoS is problematic, on larger scales infantry can much better interact with terrain.

LOS is only problematic if you make it so. A good ruleset just uses cover rather then pure LOS.

    >>14823673
    Those are nice.

The reason I like 15mm scale is because both the infantry and the vehicles look good in that scale. Something like a Panther tank is no bigger than a match-box car and it makes sense for something like a dozen of them to be on the table at the same time. And the infantry is small without being too small.

6mm scale has vehicles that are small, but still recognizable and infantry that look too small.

28mm in my opinion has the opposite problem. The infantry look good are large without being too large, but the vehicles look way too big and out of place on a standard sized table.

Kind of true, but the small infantry isn't bad when your play space is 3x3 or something similar. Also, 6mm let's you break out the trully cool hardware, pic so fucking related.

6mm scale is a lot of fun and GHQs minis are some of the most detailed minis I've seen for any scale game. Whoever sculpts them is insane. As for rules sets fist full of tows 3 has been our favorite so far. Have not tried Coldwar Commander which I hear is good as well. GHQ despite their awesome models has a awful ruleset.

Theres also historical and some fantasy stuff in the scale, since it's pretty good for huge battles, like the Rather Large Towton project, which is running at conventions this year for the 550th anniversary of the battle with a roughly 1/3rd scale (numerically) number of troops (about 20-25000).

Yes, I do play 6mm. Gonna do a little dump of some of the photos that got taken of a game I ran at a local game con last month.

Not the best photos, but oh well.

First one here's an overall shot. Hexes are 4" edge to edge. Buildings are a mix of a ton of different manufacturers. General scenario is some Germans retaking the town from advanced Russian elements in early 1945.

Aw snap. Forgot to put my name.

Anyhow, this is the climactic moment of the game. Just after it. The sherman in the left cross-street lucked out and managed to get a drop on the Panther near the church (it's on a hill, so the railroad embankment does nothing to provide cover). Sherman loads APCR, fires... and manages to immobilize the panther. Almost a kill. Just a roll of one higher... But sadly the panther was still in the fight, and helped itself to a self-igniting sherman.

Additionally, German infantry was moving up the left of the map, and had taken several of the buildings overlooking the sherman, and an SU-100.

This is why the Russians were, in the end screwed. The Russians had lost some infantry to a Wierbelwind (way out of the way on the right), and so the Germans were able to get into this position on the roof. The SU-100 is in major trouble on two counts. One, because the infantry team closest to them is carrying panzerfausts, and two because the Germans are slowly legging a panzerschreck team up. It's overkill for an SU-100, but war's not using a just big enough hammer...
