On closer inspection this MIGHT be part 90, but whatever.

You are Commander David Lister, ace pilot for the Principality of Zeon, and leader of the elite Nachtmaren corps.

Last episode you set up a daring plan to come to the aid of your commander: Lord Captain Garma Zabi and then to assault the Federation fleet attempting a breakout over Odessa.
After making a multi-part assault on the enemy forces attacking California, you were eventually able to re-establish contact with friendly forces.

    >Presently, your CO's face appears on the comm.

    >"Commander, Corporal Hobart has been explaining the gist of the plan to me, you're HLV's should be arriving in 10 minutes at the space port, so I'm beginning to transfer my least damaged space capable mobile suit teams towards there now. Whilst we may be able to throw off this assault, the latest intelligence we received from Hawaii suggested that we had at least another 8 waves to look forward to. So I'm calling for a staged retreat of the California base. We'll leave booby traps and make a fighting retreat as we go, I'll try to get some forces to New York to pick up our forces there and then any remaining groundside forces will retreat into the countryside, there's enough bolt-holes here in this country to keep even our army hidden for months, if not years. We'll also have several pods of Anti-Beam chaff transferred to the HLV's as well."

    >"Commander, whilst our forces do their best to thin out the enemy air forces, I want you to head out into the docks, reconnecting any isolated friendly units with the communications network, then tell them to booby trap any and all ammo and parts depots they can find. Look towards the heavy flak points in the Harbours, I situated Gigan teams around these vital points, as well as giving them Zaku Tank Engineering squads, those engineers will be able to rig these booby traps up for you. Try to keep them alive. Loading up the HLV's will take time, at least an hour to do, this should be enough time for you to get into contact with the largest friendly units."

    >"How will you be getting out of the city sir?" you ask.

    >"South, on the train network we set up earlier in the year if possible, we also have several Gaws and other transports we can call upon as well. Well Commander, we have work to do. Let's get to it."

    You have your orders.

See if we can't get some trucks or extra trailers for the Zaku tanks while we're at it. The more stuff we can load up onto the HLV's, the OH, or onto Garma's train, the better our logistical picture will be.

Okay, you are currently situated at a ressuply depot, which is defended by 4 Gigans, and has a Zaku Tank for ressupplying friendly MS and other engineering work.
The enemy fighters overhead are somewhat thinned for now, and after you tossed a grenade at those tanks you don't see any further enemies nearby.

However the terrain is dense with cranes, drydocks and warehouses, several plumes of smoke and explosions speak of battles in the distance.

    >Any idea if the Mashiba team is heading into space or staying groundside?

You haven't been told, you could ask Anita your operator to see if she knows.

You relay Garma's orders to the ressuply depot, they beginning prepping the warehouse with booby traps, and start charting out the easiest way back out of the docks. For them it isn't to bad, they aren't that far out.

"Sir, do you want any of these munitions before we rig up the traps? We'll be taking as much as we can, but we wont be able to transport all of it, so take what you like!"

DO YOU WANT ANY AMMO, GRENADES ETC FROM THE DEPOT?

Also, do you plan to scout out the area as a team, or split up into groups?

Top off everyone's ammo, and load up on grenades. We can be pretty liberal with both of those when we attack any Feddies.

Also yes, call up Anita to see if the Mashiba Team will be coming with us; then we'll know to coordinate and get them to the OH.

We can attach a couple of grenades to the back of our shield cant we? Think I saw pictures of GM's storing ammo and beamsabers like that before.

If the roads are wide enough we should stick together and just move really quickly. Bernie watching left Elaine watching the right and David concentrating ahead.

You ask Anita if she knows the status of the Mashiba team.
"According to the base tactical records, the Mashiba Team were on seek and destroy mission in the underground docks when the lasercomm network collapsed, we've had no word from them since, they're one of the units which were still cut off from."

David loads up on Crackers and Stickbombs.
    Elaine goes for the panzerfausts.
    Bernie gets the chainmines.
Everyone gets a couple flash and smoke grenades.

Once we're loaded up, let's check out the underground dock. We should try to re-establish contact with the Mashiba Team, and any other holdouts down there.
The OH, Zol, and Jolyne can try to make contact with any teams still aboveground.

We should probably be able to attach panzerfausts to the underside of our shield. Maybe afterwards, we can hit up Ookawara to see if he can jury-rig a firing mechanism down there so we can launch them, Geara Doga-style. Anyway, make sure to take some flash and smoke rounds for ourselves, panzer and sturm for everyone else, and at least one chain mine for Bernie. He works wonders with those things.

And yes, we probably ought to split up and prioritize finding the missing MS teams. Someone ought to go off after Mashiba, though that EXAM Gyan of Cima's should be able to hold off most anything the Feds have.

Bernie doesn't have a Dodai since he's with you, he'd essentially be operating solo. But since you'll have Calvin on the same mission, would it be best to link the two up and search for pockets of friendlies still out of loop together?

So you and Elaine go looking for the Mashiba team in the Underground docks.

Is there any way to combine that with the high speed ship attack?

Okay, so, you give out your orders out to the team, Bernie will escort the engineering team and the Gigans back towards the main base, where he will rendezvous with Calvin and begin sweeping the docks up top for friendlies and tell them to make their escape now.

You and Elaine meanwhile will be searching the Underground Docks for the Mashiba Team.

If you recall correctly, the hidden entrance for the underground complex was to the north of you. Hidden gun emplacements in the are should have kept it from being taken by the enemy but you never know.

As you make your way into a crossroads of three large hangars, almost immiediately you come under fire at close range by enemy tanks from the west.
You take cover behind the empty warehouse walls you had just emerged from, you think you saw one of the tanks trying go around and flank you from the north as well. You toss a grenade in the tanks direction and dash across in the confusion, with Elaine behind you, sending a couple of shots in the direction of the enemy as she goes.

You don't see the tank that was trying to flank you. You carefully continue on your way. You suspect that the enemy flankers are shadowing you, but are unwilling to attack at this time. Turning back to deal with it would waste valuable time, but letting him sit there and wait could be dangerous if you bogged down with more enemies...

Not willing to put off for tommorow what you can do today you tell Elain to loop around and catch your tail from behind.
You continue to push forward, acting as bait.

A few minutes later, as expected, the Tanks get wind of this and attempt to rush you in order to escape Elaine.
As the shots from their dual 150mm cannons whizz past you you leap into the cover of an empty drydock in an acrobatic somersault, send a burst of beam shots from your Carbine behind you in their direction. One shot lands cleanly and the lead tank explodes, obscuring the other other two enemies, and how your own shooting fared.
You land in the drydock safely. The bottom is slowly beginning to fill with water, although to be honest you think this might be damage from much earlier in the year.
You stick your head out to take a look, and see that Elaine has caught up with you, and the two remaining tanks have surrendered. Their crews are already bailing out as you look.

"Good job, take out those two tanks and let the crew be picked up by their own side later on, for now we've got to keep moving."

    "Roger."

With that over with you continue on your way. It's not made easier by the fact that it appears that someone has opened the water-locks and flooded large parts of dock facility in order to hinder the Federation movement, the water only slows your Mobile Suits down a little though, and aside from a couple of roving helicopters which you take down easily you make it to the Underground Entrance unharmed.

The underground dock entrance was originally disguised into the rockface, this entrance however was discovered by Midnight Fenrir at the start of the ground war, and from this they were able to directly assault the submarine pens and secret marine dock facilities underneath California.

As you open to gates you activate the heavy cargo lift that leads downwards. Luckily, the power hasn't been cut yet, you'd have had to be creative in getting the lift out of the way if it had.

You reach the bottom. You can hear the echoes of combat from all directions. In general, from where you are, the facility branches out into two forks, one section leads to the power reactor facilities, losing that would put you at a severe disadvantage, and the other leads to the submersible docks and the sea entrance.
This way is probably the most likely way to find your lost comrades.
The lighting is dim, making it easy for a mobile suit to hide behind fuel tankers and buildings, you'd best be on your guard...

the Sonar systems within your suit work somewhat, you should be able to avoid any ambushes this way, but unfortunately, the walls of this facility have been specially designed to hamper the Sonar, making it difficult to get an overview of the whole facility.

The two of you traverse down through the tight quarters of the facility. As you reach the fork, you check both ways, you can see any signs of combat coming from the reactor plant side of thing, but that's no guarantee.

In any case, if worst comes to worse and you lose power to the lift you'll just have to fight your way out through the sea entrance.

Advancing quickly but still being cuatious for hidden enemies you move towards the sub-pen area. Several giant pools for testing new Marine Mobile suits can be found here, and it's hard to interpret what is the detritus from failed prototypes and actual combat.
Which is probably how an enemy mobile suit almost able to take you by suprise as it rises up out of the ruined parts. You barely manage to parry his beam daggers with your own Beam Saber, and hit him close range with the Heat Rod. The mobile suit staggers backwards, it's arms flailing spasmodically and you fire a burst from your head vulcans at it.

The bullets tear off chunks fo armour and the enemy unit staggers as it tries to dive into cover, Elaine catches it a glancing shot with her beam rifle, and you see an arm fly off.

The enemy unit appeared to be an aquatic variant on the GM, with bulky shoulders, possibly some kind of acquatic motor.

You toss a grenade it's way to hopefully finish it off.

After carefully checking that you've managed to take out your opponent you move out into the submarine yard proper. Several dock walls provide cover to your left, you and there are about three docking pens for submarines filled with watter, in the distance you can hear and see the signs of combat.
close by, propped up against a crane is a ruined Acguy, it's missing one arm and one leg, and ammo from it's head vulcans has spilled onto the ground from a large tear in it's head. There is a ruined submarine in the distant sub-pen, it is sinking and billowing smoke.

"Hey, you okay?" you ask over your loudspeakers, in an attempt to communicate.
The Acguy raises it's arm and begins somewhat jerkily waving at you.
You just manage to realise he's trying to get you to move out of the way and dodge the salvo of micromissiles fired from behind. Using the shadows of the Dry Dock Wall, an enemy unit must have been lying in wait to see if anyone would take the bait.

The missiles streak past you and into the Acguy, you seem him raise his remaining arm to try and shield himself from the blasts before explosions obscure him from sight.
Pushing past you, Elaines Gelgoog steps up and hops sideways, her Beam Naginta in her hand, there's crack, followed by a hiss as she ignites the weapon at point blank in the enemies torso. The maneouver takes seconds.

You turn back to the Acguy, it's in a bad way, the suit is near completely destroyed, but luckily the cockpit seems to have survived. A few seconds later, the pilot escapes, wrapping a head gash up with the bandages stored inside the cockpit.
He starts talking to you and you tune the directional mike in his direction to hear.

"...thanks, but you've got to be as quiet as possible down here, once either side gives away their position, the enemy converges on it. I think Cima and her team are trying to draw the worst of it away from the dock entrance by being as flash as possible, I guess they hope that if any of the acquatic Mobile Suits we sent to assault the enemy fleet directly survived then they can catch the enemy mobile suits in a pincer... Don't bother trying to reply, my radio's busted, and the loudspeakers would only attract more trouble. I'm getting out of here, there should be an infantry scale elevator somewhere nearby. Good luck man!"

You see him run away until smoke and shadows obscure him.

You try to be as stealthy as possible as you make your way towards the sounds of explosions. Hopefully from the Mashiba Team.

As you skulk through the darkened waterways and streets you suddenly come across a pair of Goggs, they react quickly to you, raising their hands to face you. Upon seeing that you aren't an enemy they relax.

"Sorry, but there are enemy Marine Mobile suits all over the place, operating in the water in this part of the docks is dangerous, several of them are currently waiting in ambush in the pools. Last we heard though the see access was still contested, hopefully our returning friendlies will be able to sneak in. Plus, the Mashiba team is taking a toll on the enemy. Although even they've got to be at their limit by now..."

You tell them the situation up top, and they reset their laser communications to link themselves back up with the main force once they get outside.

"We lost the main laser communications network trunk for the underground docks thanks to Marine Mobile Suit commando's, we lost almost a company of Mobile Suits just to dislodge them and keep the reactor safe." He explains.

This. Hygoggs have been around since June, but they're pricey, so only there's not that many of them around.

You tell them to accompany you whilst you advance. They slow you down a little, but the extra firepower more than makes up for it.
Maintaing a cautious formation you begin to get close to where Cima and the Mashiba Team are fighting.

You can tell, the hairs on the back of your neck raise up as you get glimpses of the Cima's mobile suit, still surrouned in a blue corona, you feel like your being stalked by a lion.

You turn a corner to see the ruined wreck of a Gyan Marine, the central chest area has been completely collapsed and the Shield binder ruined. The drop tanks have been ruptured, and propellent has spilt all over the floor, you'll have to be careful not to ignite it, as it could explode.

Then, the Cima's Gyan leaps onto the roof of a nearby building, rushing up to greet her are a pair of unknown gundams, both brandishing a pair of beam daggers, they appear to be underwater type mobile suits as well.
Her Beam Lance is a flurry of movement as she parries their combined thrusts. The enemy pilots don't appear particularily skilled individually, but it's clear that they've practiced working together as a team.

"Look out!" One of your Goggs manages to get out as several large missiles hit it, it explodes like a rotten tomato and rolls towards you before coming to a halt, it very nearly reached the propellant from the destroyed Gyan.

Behind him you can see at least three of the Marine GM's coming out of submarine pen to try and flank you.

You toss a flashbang into their midst and charge forwards pulling out your bullpup as you go. The first grenade stuns them momentarily and they begin firing wildly in your direction, the missiles punch hard against your sturdy Shield, but the luna-titanium structure takes it without buckling. A lot of the shots go wide though.

Elaine in her Gelgoog leaps atop a building to get a higher vantage point, and also so as not to crowd your own maneouvers. She nimbly dodges the enemy fire and sends a lethal shot back with her beam rifle. To add to the havoc you also begin firing with your Bullpup rifle.

Above, the Gundam's battling Cima pull back to try and get more range, they attempt to supress her advance with wrist mounted harpoons before firing from their beam rifles at her. She sidesteps clean off the building over all of your heads and onto the building you had been just sheltering beside. The two Gundam's follow her, she then fires a couple of rockets from her shield into the propellant pool from the destroyed Gyan as they cross.

An large concussive explosion follows from the resultant Fuel Air Explosion.

The force of it knocks you forwards, barrelling into the enemy crowd, together this giant, almost comical metal tangle of limbs is pushed back into the water with you along with it. Your screens show nothing but the dark blue and you check your sonar sensors for a clearer picture. There are at least 5 enemy mobile suits here.
One begins to right itself, and points it's missile launcher weapon at you, and is then completely obscured by the great barrelling mass of your allied Gogg as it dives into it. There's a flash of light and the Gogg pulls back before the GM explodes, a massive bright hole in it's torso where the Gogg's beam cannons had destroyed it at point blank.

You decide to take the oppourtunity caused by the confusion of the Goggs attack to try and get out of the water.
Your mobile suit reacts sluggishly acquatic adventures don't seem to suit it all that well. But the extra thrust enables you to punch up out of the water.
The last thing you see before you clear the waves was the Gogg moving to engage the enemy at close range.

Then your view is obscured by the large scale underwater explosion caused by Elaine firing her Bazooka into the waters.

The effect was like dumping blood into the water. All of a sudden the entire sea area erupted in storm of unseen explosions, the fizzle and hissing of water boiling over with beam explosions and other symptoms of a brutal underwater battle.

You didn't know it at the time, but Elaines bazooka, aside from managing to damage a couple of the enemy, the shockwave also acted somewhat like a sonar's ping, and all of a sudden everyone in the underwater dock entrance section knew where everybody else was.

You manage to get yourself up top. One of the Gundams has been destroyed, the other is still fighting with Cima. Her movements seem to have become sluggish, possibly fatigue.

Elaine is now back on ground level so as to not expose herself. You don't see any nearby enemies, but the roads themselves are aflame due to the explosion, you'll have to roof-hop to assist Cima, exposing yourself.

Also, your ground sonar is picking up odd vibrations through the Anti-Sonar construction...

    Seconding this.
We need to make sure that the surprise, whatever it is, doesn't whack us, Elaine, or Cima from behind.

You tell Elaine to assist Cima whilst you go to investigate the suspicious contact.
Elaine moves up, but has to swiftly take cover and return fire as a group of enemy units attack her from the street level.
Although tey're bogging her advance down, she'd effectively stymied there's.

You quickly check around, the sonar contact is small and hard to pinpoint, you can't really tell whether it's a big contact masked by the anti-sonar construction of the docks, or if it's a small drill equipped vehicle.

You just manage to isolate it down to be slightly below possibly a small warehouse when Cima makes a mistake and her hand holding the beam lance is sheared off. The unit stumbles backwards, barely avoiding the followup attack.

You move to assist when the roof underneath the Gundam's feet explodes, and then collapses. The Mobile Suit follows.
You leap atop the roof to get a better look. Just as you do so, the entire wall to the left of the enemy GM's that Elaine was fighting explodes in a shower of dust and the sound of heavy duty drills can be heard as the Agg charges from the beach and basically ploughs strait through the leading enemy unit. Behind him is a Agguguy, his heat rods lash out, his head vulcans giving all they've got, and another enemy explodes. In these tight quarters, the advantage is the Agguguys, and the enemy tries to retreat.

"Get after them, keep the pressure on them, I'm going to deal with that Gundam!" You order Elaine who gives pursuit.

You leap across the gap to the other building. Inside you can see the Zugock finish of the enemy Gundam, pulling one of his heat boomerangs from a severed arm, a one armed Juagg nearby.

All of which, are in Nachtmaren colours.

Let's mop up the rest of the Feddies, and look for Cima. Get a sitrep, and then we gotta secure the reactor.

    God damn.

In the end of all of this, David is going to be screwed. He'll be forced to flee, a small ragtag band of MS pilots and support crew coming with him, hiding on some forgotten asteroid base, building Nachtmaren into something formidable. Something with which he'll get his revenge.

Upon seeing you, the Zeon unit salutes you, somewhat sardonically.
"We thought the main entrance looked to dicey. So we made our own." He states

"Yeah, you gotta love those Agg's." You reply.
"Look, I'm going to check on Cima, cover me if you can." You ask him.

    "Roger."

The greetings apparently made you take the chance to check up on Cima. You don't get any response on the communications, but it doesn't look like the cockpit is damaged.

She's probably knocked herself out or something. You check the area a second time, and after you're sure it's probably clear for at least a few more minutes, you tell Elaine what you're doing and open the cockpit.

The smell of saltwater, oil and smoke greet you as you get your first taste of earth air for quite a while. You don't have time for that right now though, and you quickly make your way to Cima's Gyan Marine, the cockpit accepts your security key and opens up for you.
Cima Girahous is currently slumped over in her chair, she still appears to be breathing and hasn't sustained any injuries, so from the looks of it, she's just unconcious. You reach inside to try and wake her up.

You are suddenly hit by a blinding headache, and a horrific sound that would be best described as a thousand voices screaming words you can't make out whilst simultaneously, it's like someone just took a cheesegrater to your brain.
    You recoil backwards instantly.

    What the fuck was that?

    TO BE CONTINUED.

Well that all went better than expected. And we got to see those guys from the first Jaburo assault again. Though the news of Cima using the EXAM system puts me ill at ease. That's the thing where they torture a Newtype to death and put their souls into a MS to enhance its performance, right?
    >> Arty 01/14/11(Fri)23:00 No.13524717
    >>13524405
All of them are are built from the same base machine so it's just 1 dead newtype.
Until all of these suits are destroyed then they'll have to kill another one. And another, and another. So yeah I'd say you were right.

Any other name suggestions for my Zeon Defense Cruiser? Since that's all we'll likely be able to build after the war, defense ships.

    >I'm considering naming it the Deikun class since once the war is over they'll mainly be used (hopefully) to protect the Space colonies and Side Three.

    >MS are aligned vertically in the MS bay like in the Zanzibar allowing use in the atmosphere

    >Publicly acknowledged only as a 'defensive measure for side three' but designed with features that would only be of use inside of an atmosphere

I'm picking up on some inconsistencies here.

Deikun-Class could work, but so could just about any major battle or dead hero that the one year war produces. Char could get a class named after him easy if he gets killed before things are done wrapping up. Other than the Black Tri-Stars, who else has died that was fairly celebrated?

    >I'm picking up on some inconsistencies here.
I have no idea what you're talking about *Trollface*
In all seriousness it could be designed to carry a Minovsky craft system which could be fitted at a later time. We'd just keep a few with the system already installed. You never know we might need to send a couple down to Africa to help clear out Girhen supporters as part of treaty obligations.

    >Other than the Black Tri-Stars, who else has died that was fairly celebrated?
I didnt reall think it'd work well naming a ship class after them. Maybe a training academy?

Well there's Captain Fontaine. Overall we've kept a lot of famous Zeons from getting knocked off.
    >> Anonymous 01/15/11(Sat)00:24 No.13525491
    >>13525220
Yeah. We've saved all the people with good names and most of the major battles we've been in don't really lend themselves to naming things after.

Fontaine-Class might be good though. He did get a hero's funeral and was a close personal friend of Ramba Ral, so that more than enough political endorsement for getting a ship named after him.
