You supernatural scum registering like you should? You really shouldn't, as you will be removed from society as you should, hell we shouldn't have tolerated you in the first place.

You supernaturals are lucky enough to have SRA around to protect your sorry hides from us, considering that we humans are superior to you in every way possible, even more so in numbers.

Now ma'am that is both insulting and inaccurate.

Supernatural beings of a non-infenal nature have been judged to have a true soul by the Third Vatican Council. As a Church Knight of the Order Hospitaler it has been my honour to work with some of the best metahumanity and nature spirits have to offer.

    >> Anonymous 01/10/11(Mon)06:39 No.13465912
The SRA has gone too far. As a human, I believe that super-naturals SHOULD be registered. Some of them are obscenely powerful (e.g. dragons, liches etc.) to the point where leaving them unregistered and "off-the-radar" so to speak would be the same as leaving nuclear warheads out in the street for anyone to pick up.
I also believe there are inherent differences between humans and super-naturals. I don't believe one is superior or inferior as far as inherent value goes, just that there are differences and that these are large enough to impact on relationships. I believe that species should be kept seperate (e.g. a city for Trolls, a city for Orcs, a city for Humans etc.) for their own protection.

However, the SRA has gone too far. If we allow an organization such as the SRA to dressing as it does, in jackboots and trenchcoats, how long until it decides that we too should wear the prisoner jumpsuits? Already there have been suggestions that every child should be scanned for magical potential. Scanned for supernatural traits. It won't be long until "supernatural" traits become "undesirable" traits and the scanning rooms become gassing rooms. Clamp down on the SRA or it will clamp down on us too.

Not to mention the supernatural rights violations blah blah blah etc.

The rampant never ending consumption of resources and constant spewing of pollution all while quashing any attempt to move beyond the Earth are going to kill you.

It's odd really. Most would expect human greed to push you into space in order to consume more resources but it seems the effort required is simply beyond you.

There is no need to fix anything that is not broken. Should earth ever "burn out", against which I would adamantly argue, it simply becomes a matter of adapting, once more the forte of humankind.

And were it even the case that humanity should fling itself toward the stars, grasping desperately for survival, we would adapt and triumph. We would strike down all who would deny our survival. Even among the empty cold void, we would flourish.

Found out two days ago I can sit shit on fire with my mind, and I am really sorry that I caused a forest fire, but I am a volunteer firefighter and I got the boys on it ASAP and more or less stayed on duty until we got that son of a bitch out, and mostly I'm just wondering what the fuck to do right now. I've had to send in registration to the SRA and I'm on house arrest right now, and, well, it's kinda lonely in here, none of my friends want anything to do with me, and honestly I'm worried with all the stuff I've heard about the SRA and 'dangerous' supernaturals. And well, I'll admit, setting shit on fire with your mind seems fairly dangerous, since, uh, it kinda wasn't going out until we removed the oxygen from the area...

Still, the look on that guy's face... So worth it. Meh, I'm glad I unlocked my powers, keeps even wierder folk away from me. Spent most of my time when I wasn't hosing down the inferno running rescues. I got a decent number of people evaced from the area, but...

The steadily rising price of your main energy source. The times it has gone soaring through the roof in terms of price. Your free market almost collapsing on multiple occasions. The fact that oil companies are having to work harder in more dangerous ways to get at oil that previously wasn't profitable to even survey let alone drill.

All the while you're barely putting any effort into your next energy source. You'd think a society based on consumption would be constantly planning what it's next resource would be but you guys just can't seem to shake this one, which to be honest isn't hard to understand. It is a very efficient source of energy that requires little tech to get enough energy to be useful out of it.

The SRA is actually a pretty benign institution. It's a certain number of people within its ranks that are the problem... much like human government.

When we first came from "Fae", the humans developed laws in their government to protect themselves from our ways such as the Feeding Act of 1820 and the Curse and Enchantment Act of 1905. These were hard for them to pass because Supernaturals have out own courts and governments and laws so firmly woven into our beings that we're physically forbidden from breaking them. The two realms clashed over law until a 3rd party stepped in and formed the SRA as a means to regulate commerce and relations between "Nats" and "Supernats" through identity registration.

Exactly, like I said before this is why the SRA was formed. The only troubles are the ones that fight back, their pride and egos making them think they're equal or superior to us. We owe them nothing. They owe us everything, mainly for letting them continue to exist.

In all-out-war-every-man-for-his-home (the real war that would be fought) human-supernatural coalition wins over the dangerous radicals seeking destroy civilization and you're way of life.

Because a mystic is no more human than a vampire or a werewolf. You can't shape the hidden forces without being tainted by them. It's the same principle as a curse or enchantment, except you're allowing the power to flow through you willingly. I know a 130 year old Necromancer who, himself, looks like a corpse because of the taint.

Honestly, I don't get alot of the hate going on. I mean, maybe it's just because it hasn't really sunk in yet--I'm the pyrokineticist under house arrest--but I don't feel different (aside from the warmer internal body temperature). I mean, I'm still human. You cut me, I bleed. I still take showers and eat food and drink water. I still need shelter, I still need contact. I'm the same person I was before I got these powers or manifested them or whatever it's called. And I'm sure there's alot of people in the same boat as me. Why do so many others hate us? If someone goes out and purposely kills people, sure, even accidentally kills people... but if they're honestly sorry, if it was an honest accident, if they had no idea until the moment they manifested those abilities... I just don't get it. I can't help it. I don't have any supernaturals in my family line, or at least no more than the average natural would have. It just happened one day.

"I am not an animal. I am a human being." - Joseph Merrick, The Elephant Man. I feel the quote applies pretty well to this situation.

A magi/wizard does stuff through learned spells and magic that alter reality to achieve a desired result. It's a systematic method.

A mystic just kinda does it without even thinking too much about it. Once you figure out the nature of reality you find you can just do these things without even trying.

Imagine the universe and time is a pond with some rocks, plants, a few fish oh and ducks because every pond has ducks.
Most things inhabit the water and are perceiving what they call "linear time". The scientists look at the rocks and say "this is how things work" and they're right for the most part. In the manner they perceive the universe and time that is how it all works. Even mages and wizards will agree on it because they perceive time the same way.

All morality aside, let me tell you of my families story.
Since time immemorial [ok the 1560's] we've been bloodbound to a vampire lord [you know who] this means we are literally his slaves, bred for controlling the peasants, the occasional snack and providing a trained corps of bodyguards for the lord [we're the seven foot tall guys in black armour who your Indy is always fighting] we've never had a choice in this as we are compelled as all of our descendants are, to obey any command given by the current Lord to the best of our ability.
Well in 1957 the Lord got it into his head to establish an embassy, to begin his conquest of the US. Before we had even unloaded the first coffin of the ship we had to complete the immigration and SRA paperwork.
Turns out It includes a runecharm that releases you from all compulsions and mind control. Imagine being free suddenly. All of those little thoughts and objections that the curse suppressed suddenly bubbling to the top, and realising what you are and what you've done in the service. My brothers and I destroyed our cargo, staked the lord and dumped the dirt into the port.
I'll defend the SRA just for allowing me my freedom

For all those who hate "supernaturals", mages, vampires, wizards, werewolves and all the other shit. Just remember: As much as you change them they change you.

A number of "magic schools" have already cropped up catering to the human power elite who send their children there to study magic alongside a more conventional education. A few universities are already cooking up their own "magic degrees", so how long before simple spells are taught in your normal schools? How long before everyone knows at least some magic?
A generation or three I'd say.

Infection with vampirism or lycanthropy is also being offered to some as a "cure" of sorts for some diseases or simply as a way to extend the lifespan. Awful lotta wealthy folk in their old age are more than happy to pay a hefty fee to get that done to them.

Elements of fay culture are being absorbed by humanity. Especially clothing, home decor and art.

Give it a generation or two and the differences won't even matter anymore. Makes me laugh.

Yanno, the deeper I look into the big picture, I'm just not seeing it.

The world is warming, oh, wait, actually now it's cooling. No biggie there, nature has thrived in much worse climate episodes than this.

Water pollution and acid rain, Okay, acid rain is a motherfucker on the local surroundings, but nature is adapting nicely to it. Oil in the oceans? Happens naturally all the time. Funny thing that coral is now thriving on top of places where oil is being unnaturally tapped from the ground and doesn't seep up through the earth naturally anymore.

Extinctions? Hell, in light of extinction events we can't even figure a cause for, humanity-dominated Earth is doing pretty freakin good.

The only thing that humanity is really eliminating form the Earth, bit at a time, is chaos, disorder and untapped resources for humanity's own use.

All that said, I agree humanity should leave the supernats right the fuck alone.

The few rare true apex predators cannot be signed up for the SRA.

For one, they are almost impossible to detect. If you could detect them they wouldn't be apex predators because their prey could also detect them. Two, they don't prey on anything that humans can consider anything but a threat. Humans do not provide them with nourishment - nor do most of the non-psychic/magical species. They tend to derive most of their nourishment from the power imbued flesh of the top end supernaturals - liches, dragons, vampires, top end sorcerers and psychics, and the most powerful of lycanthropes. Even the so-called faithful do not seem to have what it takes to give them what they need.

Finally, there are only a handful on the entire planet. That makes it even harder to catch them - it is like having the profile of a serial killer who might be anywhere on the globe and looks like no-one in particular. And when they do strike, no one notices because there is not any evidence other than a few stains, and a missing being that can be blamed on half a dozen real and clear threats that are only to happy the whatever-it-is is gone. They don't eat often, and they are not particularly gluttonous.

No, they do not have a name. To have a name you would have to be identified. Simply put, the disappearance of one powerful monster is the only evidence that they exist at all, and that disappearance is too easily explained in so many other ways.

There's still plenty of pollution and acid rain isn't the "no problem" you think it is. Try asking regions actually affected. It's taking a long time for areas to recover if at all.

The main problem human society faces is energy. You're running out of your primary supply and you won't be able to switch to anything else as you haven't made the effort to do so. Switching to nuclear buys you a century at the most assuming you don't drain all oil dry before switching. It will still take you a few decades to build the required amount of plants though even assuming some emergency measures are enacted internationally.

Your transport infrastructure will also completely collapse due to its dependence on oil. Electric cars will take a long time to spread and you'll need to expand your rail networks massively to move all the freight around.

You're just thinking of today not tomorrow.

Teaching magic in school is a horrible idea... Not directly, because frankly, I have no problem with magic or magicians in general, but because we don't know for fact any of the mechanics of magic. Of course, as soon as we do know the mechanics of magic, it becomes science, and I'm sure mystics aren't too pissed off by that, but I'm sure a good number of the musty old wizardly types sure seem to be.

Even the highest mages argue over weather or not the power tapped by magic is itself a limited resource. To open it to the masses while it's so little understood is folly. Sure, humans are doing it, but it's folly nonetheless. Much the same as using Lycanthropy and Vampirism as cures for mundane afflictions.

Yes, it's taking time to recover, but that's one thing of which nature has a holy shitload.

As for human sources of energy, that's not even one little tiny bit nature's concern. Nature will laugh it's ass off when oil runs dry, coral will thrive in the deepest oceans and Humans get to worry about curing mother grid and father city, as an earlier poster put it.

Technically I guess you could call magic a finite resource. But finite in the same way the universe is finite. You won't be wanting to for mana until the end of the universe.

As for the mechanics? Who knows? Who gives a fuck? After all if you understand how it works does that instantly make it useless? No it means you can probably improve it. I know a wizard would probably be drooling over being able to teleport with the same degree of accuracy I can.

Perhaps it is a bad idea. Perhaps it is not. But now that your owners are all scrambling to teach their offspring magic the only hope humans have to retain even some of the nice things in their life is to learn some as well so they aren't something easily subdued.

Honestly I think it's all a bit funny. The next revolution will have both sides throwing fireballs at each other not bullets.

Unless he set himself up in a relatively faster universe and has spent our last few minutes getting millions of years of work done.

Anyway, why the hostility? Nanobots are really really easy to shut down. They have a super-small surface area, so they can't effectively deal with heat. All you need to do to shut down a grey goo is to set a fire. Napalm if you're serious. Or if they're set up in an oxy-free environment like the moon, just spray it down with Chlorine trifluoride. That shit'll burn anything anywhere.

Now, what you really need to watch out for are large-scale Von Neuman's. They're not as creepy as grey-goo, but they are much more robust. And you only seem to be worried about a "eat all resources" scenario. What would really fuck us all over is if someone went and let out a Besrerker Von Neuman. Directive 1: Replicate. Directive 2: Destroy anyone and anything that would prevent you from replicating.

That shit doesn't just wipe out planets, it wipes out solar systems. If it gets a hold of FTL and integrates it, it can wipe out an entire sector.

It really depends on the hunters. You've got a few different groups. The most popular without a doubt are the hunters that 'fight the good fight' or are in it for vengeance.

Then you have people like me who are in it for the money. If you have something valuable you can usually bribe them to keep off your back, depending on how professional the hunter is they will even help you stage your death so others don't come looking.

Never 'curbstomp' a hunter if you can help it. There is a good chance doing so will attract more like flies.

Now if you grease the right palms up, the more zealot hunters might fall down some stairs and break their necks, if you catch my drift.

A favor goes a long ways. Set down your principles, and a reasonable hunter will ask for something according to what you are willing to provide regarding your special skills.

Before you ask how you know if it is a reasonable Hunter or not, if they shoot at you before giving you a chance to speak they aren't likely to be friendly. The best way to approach them is in a crowded place. We obviously skirt on the edges of human laws, but harming humans is something not even a good bribe will get you out of.

If you aren't above making a few 'friends' it becomes easier to call another hunter and find out the up and up on whoever is hunting you. I have a black book next to me right now with the name of every known hunter in North America and most of Europe along with cliff notes on their motivations and hunting habits. I can bet you money that most other hunters have something similar. Of course it's bound with protective wards to prevent someone from stealing it and hunting US down if any of you jerk offs were considering it.

Hope I was of some help, I know dealing with Hunters is something you supernaturals often avoid or look down on, but trust me when I say I've put down some of the scariest creatures unknown to man, and you should never underestimate us, because a good hunter never underestimates you.

I try to warn him that the mirror is for when the seventh eye opens to send it into a Nth hell. He apparently can't count, or maybe thought he was being creative. The laser hits the mirror and it explodes! Glass everywhere, goes right into his eyes, and grinds his hands into pulp you'd find at a stay in bed breakfast.

I'm trying really hard not to laugh while he is running around screaming.

We managed to put it down, and he did make it out alive. Real shame the replacement hands we got him were evil though.
