I'll admit there is some strange stuff down there. Take something like this. The crown of thorns starfish. Poisonous, covered in spines. They've invaded reefs all over the world, have pretty much no natural predators thanks to man, extrude their stomachs to dissolve whole reefs.

Oh and they're practically indestructible. The only way we could kill them is to take them onshore and burn them. Even then they produce toxic smoke. Little shits.

Sea anemones. They are nothing but stomachs with a mouth and tentacles that numbs it's prey so it might slowly pull it down towards it's mouth and consume it alive.

I think every angler fish ever looks scary as fuck. Giant mouths full of jagged teeth that, in their natural environment, lunge at you out of inky blackness. The fucking boogeyman is a fish.

also sea cucumbers. I don't think any are actually that dangerous, but just look at that thing. it's like some eldritch abomination's larval form.

Jellyfish are probably the most perfect creatures on Earth. Simple, elegant, dangerous, poisonous, silent, mindless, soulless, oh and also IMMORTAL in some cases. Unchanged after millions and millions of years and still able to survive and thrive, despite our best efforts to control them. If human beings someday die out and fall to the recesses of history, Jellyfish will still be there, floating.

In fact there's only going to be more of them. The depletion of fish stocks which control jellyfish larvae means that in 50 years jellyfish are going to be swarming like never before. Prepare for an ocean of rubbery stinging death.

Freezing. I'm and a mountain climber. I've had hypothermia on the mountain, wasn't pleasant but by the time it got really serious I was so far gone I was hallucinating and didn't give a shit in the world. Drowning on the other hand, speaking to those that have nearly done it is one of the most painful things in the world. Although that does depend on how you drown. It's possible to pass out before you even feel the need to take a breath.

Having said that maybe you could do both. I was diving in 3 degree water back in feb, and my buddy had his regulator ice up because of the cold. He was drowning and freezing simultaneously.

This is the Cymothoa Exigua, it's a parasite for the Rose Snappers. It enters through the gills and latches onto the tongue and drains blood with it's front claws, causing it to atrophy. It then attatches it's anus to the nerves and arteries left behind, becoming part of the fish. It's back is lined with taste buds wich relays the information back to the fishes brain through the nerves. it feeds of the blood and remains of food.

Tl;dr, it cuts out the tongue and becomes a new one.

You see my good man, when saying the above, one alludes automatically to the fact that the turtle is kept as a pet and therefor would not be in their natural setting, making the preservation of the turtle's natural skills as a hunter and predator rather important as one would not want one's pet to become lethargic.

Hagfish. It is vampire and it's mouth is pretty ugly. It can also produce gel that turns water into slime so that its predators suffocate when slime fills their gills.

An adult hagfish can secrete enough slime to turn a 20 litre (5 gallon) bucket of water into slime in a matter of minutes so it is pretty effective too.

(paraphrased from an old discussion about nature/man)
    >Imagine a nursery. Around ten thousand cribs in it, one woman standing in the middle of it. She's holding a pair of scissors and a live baby. She's drenched in blood, as is the entire room. Ankle deep, in fact. She smiles at you and says, "I have always loved all of my children."

The hunters to the forest creep.
From out the wild wood comes the call.

The hunt is Life. The hunt is all.

    An ancient forest beckons me,
to run sky clad amongst the trees,
My lusty Spear it cannot wait,
    the gentle deer to penetrate.

    Cernunnos, Lord of Beasts, he grunts;

COME JOIN US FOR THE WILD HUNT!"

Still, a box jellyfish sting isn't typically straight-up fatal. At least, not the sting itself. What does happen, though, is that your pain receptors go into fucking overdrive. We're talking the dial cranked all the way up to 11. This causes your blood pressure to rise to dangerous levels, until you blow a valve, stroke out, or overstress your heart and induce an arrhythmia.

"The symptoms, however, gradually become apparent and then more and more intense in the following 5 to 120 minutes (30 minutes on average). Irukandji syndrome includes an array of systemic symptoms including severe headache, backache, muscle pains, chest and abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, sweating, anxiety, hypertension, tachycardia and pulmonary edema. One unusual symptom associated with Irukandji syndrome is a feeling of "impending doom". Patients have been reported as being so certain that they are going to die that they beg their doctors to kill them to get it over with. Symptoms generally abate in 4 to 30 hours, but may take up to two weeks to resolve completely."

"Even under the "maximum dose of morphine," Teresa remarked that she "wished she could rip her skin off," and is later seen writhing uncontrollably from the pain while lying on her hospital bed. In one scene, Teresa's feet are shown contorting and digging into the bed, and she's wiggling her toes and kicking her feet around. When the camera moves back, Teresa is seen rubbing her face, her body is contorting in agony, and her legs are rapidly sliding and kicking around on the bed. Jamie, at his worst, is also seen writhing in pain, curled up in a ball and barely able to speak. Jamie said he wished that he was stung by Chironex fleckeri instead since "the pain goes away in 20 minutes or you die.""

tl,dr: You usually don't die, but you wish you would.
