It's Lord Quest time again, so lets get this show on the road.

    For the freshers:
    http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Lord%20Quest

    And the prior thread:
    http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/9397145/
In which we acted like suave mother-fuckers, charming ladies and securing permission to court them. Oh, and wanted to get Harry to watch James, all subtle like.

You wake to the dawn bells, ringing their pealing greetings to the day ahead. Getting up you put on your travelling garb, and head to the kitchens to grab a bite to eat before you start the day. The first and least formal day of the Merchant's Festival will be starting, with the first merchants setting up their spots getting in early to secure prime selling positions.

Once the formal breakfast in half a bells time is served, it will be hard to find anyone, as you will be at the lords table, and only Doobs will be able to dine with you there. The other men will eat at the Guards Table, or in the case of Harry, most likely avoid the tables entirely and grab a meal direct from the chef.

You wanted to find Harry, to ask him to keep an eye on James, do you follow though with this? Also, is there anyone you wish to see before heading off today?

Holly balls, two Lord Quests in two days? It's like a miracle wrapped in beacon and awesome.

Go tell our men at the guard's table to keep an eye out for Harry and tell him to find us. Head to chef and ask him to do the same.

You make sure to tell your men and the chef to tell Harry that you're looking for him. Is there anyone else you wanted to talk to for today?

Did you want to make sure anyone was with you today? They'll be able to find you if they need to, but they'll be out and about after breakfast until leaving. You remember hearing that Cohen wanted to leave first thing after the morning meal, to see what the merchants had before they sold anything.

    >You wanted to find Harry, to ask him to keep an eye on James, do you follow though with this?

No, let it be. The last thing we want is for James to actively sabotage us as reprisal. It probably wouldn't be the first that a suitor tries to spy on him.

A unit varies depending on the herb. However it is enough to cook with for some time if one is cooking for oneself, or a small group. Exact time lasted would depend on how much spice they used, how often, etc. But expect one unit to keep a small group of 5 people in spice for about a month, if it were the only spice used, used normally most evenings. In reality poorer families would only use herbs on special events, and richer ones would have many herbs to chose from, so that it would take much longer to go through a given unit.

    Confirmed.
Forgot to ask if you wanted to haggle.

    >NEW! Haggle Rules

Roll using haggle skill or ½ charisma. You can use related skills at a -1 penalty for closely related, or -2 for distantly related.

If your using a value of 8, you roll a d8. You cut 10% of for every number you beat their relevant skill by. Rolling under half of their skill may get them to convince you to buy more, or charge you more, or with a critical failure insult them.

Your value would be a 9 (7 char, +3 for skill (lordly duties) -1 for skill closely related). Expect average people to have haggle values of 1-3, merchants from 4-10 depending on how well off they are, etc. A poor merchant is likely a worse haggler then a well off one.

So if you wanted to haggle, you'd roll a d9. You get 10% off the final price, for every point you beat their haggle value by. Haggle value is Charisma + Haggle, or 1/2 charisma if you have no related skills. Related skills can be used at a penalty depending on how related they are and the situation (intimidate might be used at a -1 in a less formal situation, but in a city with guards nearby it would have a -3 penalty. )

We'd need something to change the soil quality which we can do. It's just fiddly and we'd need the materials to do it. Acids/Bases/Nitrates. That kind of shit. What would be even more fiddly is adjusting for climate. If we wanted to grow peppers on our land we'd probably need to make green houses and even then I have no idea if our hortaculturalist knows about them.

I don't think James is up to anything dodgy. I just think he's holding his cards suspiciously close to his chest. Which suggests to me that he's the Sheff household's domestic spy/counter-intelligence agents.

I mean really, if there was any doubt about this guy would Sheff be letting him near his daughter? Especially as a chaperone? He's also chaperoned the other daughters.

I just figure it could be good for Harry to keep an eye on him just because maybe Harry will learn something from the experience or learn more about James in the process.

I don't actually think he's a danger though. Especially since QL used a picture of Percy for James. Actually, considering it's Percy maybe James really is just dense.

Shit. And the only tangible example of them working that we give her is the exact one we don't want to give. Namely the romance ring warming when we were about to make a tard of ourself at the first Seakay feast.
