    Serious question, OP.

Could you please say whether you intend this to be
    a) based around user suggestions with /tg/ saying wat-do and the actions of the peons being based almost entirely on that (spring whatever outside shit you like and see how we react)
    b) based around your own story, what you like to draw and your available time, with our comments being basically incidental to it.

Because I'm fine with either of these, they're both great, but the uncertainty is what caused such a storm of butthurt last time.

From past performance it's "OP draws a village, specific buildings/actions drawn from /tg/ suggestions, overall theme follows the prevailing trend of the suggestions, but with extra stuff the OP thinks is cool also thrown in."

Which is to say, positive requests of stuff to add will probably get acted on, but negative requests of stuff NOT to add may be ignored.

    Which is fair enough, really.

    ---
Hah! I just noticed that our trade road leads straight off our trench's cliff face. I suggest we make a metal ramp before we get pathing errors from incoming merchants. It can also double as a well guarded choke point.

Also, that fossil is starting to look very sinister. Good thing no one here knows how to/is stupid/is malicious enough to reanimate the dead yet.

    Personal Suggestions:
*** Upgrade wooden bridge to larger steel bridge for more trade traffic.
*** Complete trade road with ramp down cliff/bridge over trench (unsure which is in pic)
*** widen road system and expand to bridge
    *** Thicken walls
    *** Airship? Airship.

Have scouts look around and make us a map or come up with some trade routes for nearer cities.

Improve the flying machines and create full fledged zeppelin like contraptions to haul supplies.

Begin a healthy trading relationship with other nearby settlements giving them machinery in exchange for raw/rare goods like precious metals, inks, dyes, and paper.

expanding would be good, over the bridge, more housing, more immigrants, more food = more minds = more teck = more coolness.
shame you didnt draw the wall bigger OP, i was going to suggest building mechanical wheel-powered punching devices that we could activate when invaders try to scale the walls.

Going to continue advising upgrading our southwestern bridge to steel and enlarging/fortifying it for more traffic. Also, get our science division working out exact what our local stiff-in-the-ground is... er was. (really curious and worried about it.)

After construction of our new military airship, perhaps encouraging the local merchants in investing in a civilian model?

On that note, think we could turn our megamech so that it faces the outside of town instead of the middle? (Friendly fire paranoia.)

    - map extended to the south as farmers are relocated to make way for more housing.

    - relocating the farmers was an engineering feet in itself but they were all given double their plots as insentive.

    - mechanised construction is now common place.

    - plans go ahead for engineering guild to construct superior housing near the clocktower.

    - town guard has commissioned the engineering and alchamism guilds to deliver better quality weapons and moving armour solutions.

    - new bridge is on the plans of the engineering guild.

    - military theory scribes oversee the construction of the now almost complete airship.

    - docking station proposed for top of clock tower, under consideration of the engineering guild.

Let's get some roads to the farms, and build more and improved houses for the farmers. Also, let's wall off the lower end of the map to allow for expansion but keep the farms safe.

In the place where the farms used to be, we should build a hospital, have a couple alchemists train to become surgeons and apothecaries.

Begin to construct walls to guard the newly acquired farmland.

Modify the mechanized suits to have a detachable drill that can be added to the suit to increase digging/boring ability. this will help in speeding the process of unearthing the skeleton and mining for ore

Construct a trading center in the place where the farmers once were. I suggest a large market where locals can trade inventions, ideas, goods, and other such things. Outside merchants can also rent out a place to sell wares. A merchants guild on the side of the trade square would also be a good idea.

Soldier on OP, soldier on. Anyway, late advice. I think way to hard on my ideas. I blame simcity. As I said in my last constructive post, make a market and warehouse for trading, also leave room for possible military/commercial airport/construction dock.
We could probably trade processed metal, tools, food, and processed mushroom gunpowder to neighboring towns/cities. On second thought maybe we should keep the gunpowder...
I guess this all this should be put across the river. Hell, that area could now be the merchant quarter/military hub with the original settlement being the R&D scribe hub.
Probably should also make a barracks across the river for our now expanding army as well as for the airmen that inevitably will be manning the ship.
Also extend the wall to cover the whole southern half after we hammer out what goes where. Extend and enlarge the roads as well. Hmm, we'll need more smelters/carpentry shops to keep up with constuction demand.

    Cont.
New personal suggestions (in order of priority):
*** Additional Woodprocessor and Smelter to speed up construction and help supply our growing army. Dunno where. Probably near river for power source. Watermill also for the new farms.
*** Barracks to house our burgoning militia and soon to be airforce (airnavy?) during off hours.
*** Build market as center piece for southern half of city. Begin plans for airport nearby for future air traffic. (Service both civilian and military? Or seperate?)
*** Expand roads to service new southern buildings.
*** Extend walls to cover southern buildings. Also watchtowers to guard our new aquisition.
*** Upgrade our watchtowers alongside our walls, better weapons and possibly integrating them into the wall when we thicken the wall. Right now they look kinda flimsy and outdated.
*** Study the fossil, learn what you can; DON't try to revive it. Don't want a Frankenstien in the middle of town. In fact post a few guards to prevent any peasant
gawkers from getting into the site itself. (Uh, for thier safety. Don't want anyone falling in, yeah.)

We don't need to raise an army since so far we have nothing to defend ourselves from. We need to focus on trade, and improving living conditions for the townspeople. Better dwellings, market, and a hospital are priorities. We need to get word out of our technological achievements and show visitors our splendid giant mech, airship and archaeological dig.

Metagaming. Our settlement is strong and sufficiently protected. Other than extending the wall and guard tower network to the new settlement on the south side of the river, we don't need additional military expenses. An army that sits on its ass all day is a needless waste of manpower, men that could be planting crops or inventing new technology. We need to give all the townspeople militia training so they can all operate rocket launchers if they need to defend themselves, and keep a small guard force for patrolling the perimeter and keeping the peace.

It's possible that Shaboth is known to our village, but I still think having an idle standing army is a bad idea. A citizen army, led by a cadre of professional officers and drawn up when needed, is a better use of resources.

Now, if we could send out military expeditions to explore, colonize and expand our sphere of influence, a standing army WOULD be a good idea. But I'm not sure if OP allows it.

Reiterating my previous list just in case:

*** Additional Woodprocessor and Smelter to speed up construction and help supply our growing army/city. Dunno where. Probably near river for power source. Watermill also for the new farms.
*** Barracks and armory to house our burgeoning military and soon to be airforce (airnavy?) during off hours.
*** Upgrade our watchtowers alongside our walls, use better cannons and possibly integrating them (both towers and individual cannons) into the wall when we thicken the wall. Right now they look kinda flimsy and outdated.
    ---
Personally, I'm going for something akin to an Italian citystate style. Trade-based economy. High-walled city. Cultured citizenry. Small elite, well equipped army and now airforce and the ability to call upon and equip a sizable militia should it come to blows in the future. I mean hell even without the possibility of a dark god walking to our doorstep, our city and its trade routes would be a prime target for highwaymen and brigands if we don't have a show of force.
'sides whats steampunk without Victorian armies to throw around?
Well I guess we could scale back on military a bit and focus on infrastructure more.

    My fellow citizens,

You have asked time and again for a reduction in the size of our standing military. You have claimed that we need no force of such size. I counter with the following proposal: allow the scientific reanimation of the fossilized creature we have excavated, and the fuzing of the creature into our primary mechanized defense automaton. The means to do so is withing our grasp, as Professor Tesidon can attest. With such a force watching over us, we can free up the majority of our military until such time as an active threat is discovered, without putting ourselves at risk of surprise attack. Furthermore, this fusion would allow our primary defense automaton to be moved from its current location, and provide us mobile ground striking power in addition to the air mobility our airship has provided. Furthermore, it will prove a sizeable defense against such enormous dangers as we have heard exist to the South and to the West, should our man-sized suits prove inadequate.

Gentlemen, I ask for your vote in this.

We've got free reign on the lower terrains? then I suggest we start the plans and infrastructure for a solar ray tower.

When disabled, the tower would retract and let the mirrors reflect the light into the sky, when under attack, the mirrors concentrate all the light in a lens that focuses it and can be oriented for targeting.

We have allowed the military to go forward with its plans to create an airborne weapon of war, to arm it with an experimental weapon and to conduct field trials close to our homes. Now, just days later, the General will have us spend time and labor on another wild scheme! I say, enough! Gentlemen of the Assembly, I beg you to put these plans aside, and instead to focus on the construction of a house of healing and the new irrigation plan that will turn the south bank into a breadbasket for our town. I vote against that, and I will not explain why.
Ever since the day our founder moved here, where we stand today, we've known that the world is full of malign forces. Those same forces that drove him out of his village, and made him seek refuge in the woods. You know as well as me that the only way to make sure those forces do not pose us any substantial threat is having a standing army as large as we can afford, as well-trained as we can afford, and as well-equipped as we can afford. We can not allow ourselves rest in the falsely perceived safety when our scouts go MIA, and when danger can come from any direction. The only way to have a combat-ready army is having a standing army, no peasant draft is nearly as effective as professionals.
In what comes to your suggestion on constructing one more behemoth using the mysterious remains we've found in the North-East - since the beginning of time the thing we've sought out the most has been knowledge. Destroying a valuable artifact before we even decipher its true meaning - what can be more devastating to the scientific community? And for what? To produce a single more machine of war, ones of which we've made without any artifacts sacrificed!

The airship that allows us early warning, an extension of our military reach, and provides a model for civilian versions? With the range and speed the airship provides us, we can speed to the rescue of nearby settlements should the oft-rumored malign force loom in this area. Professor Tesidon's method of electro-animation and mechanical fusing will do more than give us a single new weapon. It will give us a weapon that can fill the role of dozens of armored soldiers, for a fraction of the upkeep.

If you support, as I do, letting our military have the full support needed to protect the citizenry against outside threats, then I ask that you not block this proposal. Having this behemoth alongside our boys in armor would guarantee that we keep them safe. What better to frighten our enemies and draw their blows away from our footsoldiers than this?

Will it be able to withstand enemy fire-based attacks? We're yet to find out. Yet, instead of supporting our department and testing the prototype further, you insist on new projects, more and more fantastic. Yes, I was against the airship proposal when it was first brought up in this Assembly, but as you are well aware, when the majority voted to let the plan go forward, the project was executed with the full cooperation of the guild of Engineers. The airship is now built, and so I must ask the military: Are you not satisfied? The gilded giant that our pride, the genius Marco built, still stands in the town square, unused! The airship, built to defend us against an enemy that has yet to materialize, stands ready! I ask you, General, will you not be satisfied with the technological marvels that have been created to protect us? I am glad that you have nothing to disagree with in the substantial part of my speech. I suggest we all listen to Optician Larem, whose age alone allows him for that, and set our development projects aside while we prepare for defense, should the pictured threat prove to be substantial and not imaginary. Starting risky projects at this moment? Hardly the most efficient course of actions.

United, I am confident that our efforts will see us safe. It would do well to remember that, lest we fall from divisiveness.

How are we to ensure the creature in question does not turn on us, General? Especially since all your efforts to find a suitable pilot for the automaton have yet proven fruitless, and we have nothing to defend with against it should it turn out to be aggressive? What are the checks and balances here, General?

    Soldier on OP, soldier on.

    Ahem,
Good Morrow, Councilmen, I wish to make a proposal on behalf of the local Architect's Guild. As you know we are expanding our beloved city at a remarkable pace and as such our infrastructure and industry is beginning to feel the strain. Our overworked and overcrowded road system is near breaking point. Everyday the engineers must repave the road as heavy traffic wears away at the narrow cobblestone streets. The bridge that spans the river will never have the capacity to support the new traffic that will inevitably occur as we expand south. I propose that we build a newer high capacity bridge across the river as well as reinforcing and widening the standing one
so it can hold more than one wagon at a time.

I have no personal opinion on the 'correct' size of our military, but should we continue to grow our forces, a new barracks will be needed to house more of our troops.

As is, our current one is full to capacity now that the airship is completed and our weapons stores are overflowing the city armory. I propose that a new barracks be made across the river to help aleviate this problem. In addition a dedicated airfield will help the engineers when servising the airship
Hmm? Oh yes I've just been handed a note from the head Smithy. He says that at our current rate of consumption and expansion we will be needing to commision one new woodprocessing plant and a new smelter. Otherwise our metal production will begin to
falter. Ah yes that reminds me. I currently have the plans for the large market square proposed for the southern quarter. They await final approval. I have taken enough of your time as is gentlemen. The are other minor details here in my proposal that you may read at your discretion. For now I must depart. the Head Architect want's me on site for the reinforcement of the walls.

I fear that perhaps you have been spending too much time in the mushroom patches, sir--or perhaps your hearing is failing you. I already addressed the issues you brought forth, in my replies to other gentlemen.

Yet again, you repeat a concern after I have addressed it. Please, pay attention to the goings-on at this assembly, we have no time for slow thinkers with this menace upon us.

We will proceed with caution, and have available military assets ready to intervene should our scientists find any danger arising from the situation.

What do we have to ensure that our current army remains victorious, other than the bravery and skill of its soldiers? I would give them every advantage, that all of them may return home to their loved ones.

Easy to Read Proposal for the benefit of OP(in order of priority):
*** Additional Woodprocessor and Smelter to speed up construction and help supply our growing army/city. Dunno where. Probably near river for power source. Watermill also for the new farms.
*** Barracks and armory to house our burgeoning military and soon to be airforce (airnavy?) during off hours.
*** Build (HUEG) market as center piece for southern half of city. Could also double as a sort of avenue for entertainment and festivals if the citizens so chose (and a parade ground for the miltary if you are feeling particularly fascist today, El Presidente).
***Begin plans for airport nearby for future air traffic. (Service both civilian and military? Or seperate?)
*** Expand roads to service new southern buildings and widen them for more traffic.
*** Free(?) Hospital for the sick and injured
*** Let's throw in a Firehouse as well. The city is big enough that a bucket brigade will not be enough to stop a major fire. We need professionals and equipment.
*** Extend walls to cover southern buildings. Also watchtowers to guard our new aquisition.
*** Upgrade our watchtowers alongside our walls, use better cannons and possibly integrating them (both towers and individual cannons) into the wall when we thicken the wall. Right now they look kinda flimsy and outdated.

Ye gods, I am late. I knew the hammer would drop, but not when. I say we build the firehouse and hospital immediately. It looks like we may very well need it...

And keep everyone that's not a scholar/engineer away from the dig site. I've warned you about the potential dangers, but it looks like we'll have to excavate this one regardless.

I'm afraid I have some troubling news to report to the Assembly. In the last week, several apprentices have complained to me of headaches and dizzy spells after working in the brewery. And in the last few days, a few of them have taken to sitting outside the Hall, shouting nonsense like the man that was just taken into custody, >>9364548. I'm not sure if this delusion is contagious, but
it does seem that the number of these self-proclaimed "apostles of Shaboth" is increasing... Gentlemen, I would like a quiet house on the edge of town set aside so that I and my apprentices could isolate these people and research the origin of their condition, and a way to cure it.

In terms of the defense of the town, the Engineers' Guild has drafted a joint proposal with the Guild of Architects concerning the reinforcement of the wall and the addition of heavy cannon ramparts to the watchtowers. I believe that the protection of the town requires the expansion and reinforcement of our city wall. With the permission of the Assembly, I shall order my people to proceed with this plan immediately.

You're adding one more variable to the equation, General, one we have no means to calculate. Yet, you insist the solution will change in the direction we consider preferable, without providing ant proof of that. For all we know, the creature is as likely to attack us as it is to attack the enemy - and you yourself just stated that it is no less or even more powerful than our current standing army, admitting that having it on our side would mean zero casualties. Thus, with approximately 50% probability, you're suggesting we build our own doom - against the very same 50% probability of us winning a hypothetical war more easily.
On the other hand, concentrating on building infrastructure and defenses would mean we'd still gain advantage over the opposition without risking certain death at the hands of our own creation- any why should we take that risk?

You are twisting my words, councilman. I never said the behemoth would equate to our current military force strength. Nor would the behemoth will not ensure no soldier dies, but it will provide a superb spearhead for any assault, and greatly increase our soldiers' safety by being a target for opposing forces.

You are also providing statistics that you appear to have pulled from thin air. Professor Tesidson has assured me of his electro-animation process's reliability. I have no idea how you seem to predict a 50% chance of failure.

If you are going to argue, I ask that you at least pay attention. I have little time for rebutting baseless concerns; indeed, soon I must see to the troops.
