Let's play a game, /tg/. It's the game of making a fictional species, yet in this game, there are rules. Please read them:

    >I offer a series of possible choices or request input. Respond with one of the possible choices or your own input respectively, with "dice+1d100" in your email field. The person who rolls the highest number out of the first three responses gets selected and then I state the next phase.

In this case, let us first choose one of the following settings:
    >Fantasy
    >Sci-fi (soft/average only - I don't trust my scientific knowledge enough to create truly hard science fiction)

True Neutral Space-bees who exist mainly in the alternate metaphysical universe provided by the consciousness of sentient beings (their own highly conscious brains also project this field, allowing them to traverse the universe in places where there are no beings in our universe's analogue position.) They communicate verbally, and the vibrations caused by this in their universe sometimes 'ripple through' to ours.

Possibly being near to our metaphysical aura allows them to feed on our sensations/experiences/perceptions that they normally can't experience, being in a non-physical dimension. Travelling through null-space uses up their own energy.

Areas of conscious experience 'glow' to them, and as they feed on different experiences, some of it rubs off on their 'legs hairs', to be carried over and seeded in other conscious beings (thus making empathy possible?) it is thus that they garnered the designation 'bees'.

Excess feeding causes a bee to replicate itself.

Also, misery happens, and then bees come and feed off the misery and spread it around. The bees are like catalysts - they don't cause the reaction, but they help it along by feeding on it.

Has to be drained from the Id of a sentient.

    In fact...

Sometimes millions of lightbees swarm onto one human and fill his mind with light, fostering him to new heights of brilliance to create a new generation.

He burns very brightly, very briefly, and the new lightbees created from this flock to those near him, creating a wave of inspiration with his garden as the catalyst.

(It takes a stern, resilient mind to survive the process. But oh, what gets created!)
    >> Anonymous 04/20/10(Tue)22:39 No.9324645
    rolled 46 = 46

So again if I may be so arrogant as to sum it up, we have Supersentient light-'bees' that exist in the alternate-meta-space provided by consciousness, communicate by causing ripples in this metaphysical plane which sometimes can be 'heard' on the material plane, and draw energy from the emotions of us mortal kin. They're not really partial to what they eat, as long as it's not tainted (demonic influence? something to that effect), and keep their mind-gardens clean through violent purge. Sometimes a faggot-bee will get hella hungry and just cause shitstorms so it can eat from the resulting chaos. This usually draws other bees, though, and things settle down when they fix it. Bees reproduce by shaping some of their own energy into new consciousnesses.

'bee'ist. They work together for the greater good of beedom, but since the only thing important to their survival is that of separate and sometimes unrelated or directly conflicting mind-gardens, the bees are basically loyal first to their food sources, and then to beedom as a whole. They all give deference to the God and Universe bees, who keep all bee-gardens within operating range through their massive influence on their analogues. Other than that, individualistic.

It takes the life of the Bee that uses it, but it's a weapon without compare.

BEES SO FAR - again if I may be so arrogant as to sum up

    rolled 46 = 46

Bees reproduce through feeding off the id/emotion of humans, sometimes causing huge shitstorms as many bees gather to partake of his delicious inspiration and conscious spontaenity.

They travel to our plane through elabourate dream-rituals, for whatever reason striking their fancy at the time.

Although bees are naturally immortal, they are inextricably linked to the emotional events and emotional successors that spawned them. Sometimes millenia will go by without a bee dying, while other times billions may die with their race. Bees are highly 'bee'ist, as well as individualistic. The bees who are linked to the consciousness of the universe, and those of the gods, are often granted deference and respect - their analogues are so important to the mortals of the material plane (and thus the 'lesser' bees' food source) that to offend them could end in none other than loss of life.

    >Hostility
    >Curiosity
    >Friendship

The sting could be an advanced ritual, designed to fully destroy or take-over the soul/essence of another being - a one for one trade against any large, singular threat to the bee-cluster's garden. The most noble of sacrifices, to end one's own immortal life to ensure those of your ken.

It would depend on the level of knowledge others have about them. Curiosity for the scholarly, fear and perhaps reverence from the priestly who know that they have shaped the history of the universe from behind the scenes. Mostly though, I assume that we would react how the bees want us to react (ludic-dream style, as our universe is but a dream to be enjoyed by them). It would have to be judged on an individual basis.
