tl;dr version: Nazis and Soviets did not break alliance until Nazis invaded America. The year is now 2010 and the Nazis control the east coast of the USA, while the Soviets maintain possession of the west coast. The heart of the nation is controlled by the Constitutionalists, a group of insane necromancers who worship the greatest leaders America has ever known as gods. Also, George Washington is like Cthulhu on steroids.
Soviets use powered armor, nuclear-powered supertanks, and diesel-spewing mechs. Nazis use magic, with an emphasis on demonology. Captured demons power most Nazi technology.

Oh, and I nearly forgot: Current consensus is that you can play this with Dark Heresy rules, and Barrack Obama (see pic), a great Soviet leader, will be your Inquisitor.

    CONTINUE DISCUSSION.
oh, and you may now bask in the glory of commubama

What's happening on the original Eastern Front, by the way?

I can picture that both sides massively fortified the living shit out of it during the long years of ceasefire, so you've got a scaled-up trench warfare situation.
Or nobody's dumb enough to attack the other's HUEG BUNKER COMPLEXES, nothing's happening except the occasional skirmish, and all the real action is taking place at the American front?

I would imagine that it's almost absurdly peaceful. Both sides tacitly agreed to fight proxy wars to establish dominance elsewhere rather than fight in their own back-yards. Sort of like the Cold War only more militarized with more flare-ups. America is Germany's Vietnam.

explain to me how that either germany or russia could have a fleet big enough to conduct a cross ocean invasion WITH enough supplies and support to establish a secure foot hold on american soil? at the time of WWII both navies combined could not match americas navy alone. Neither side had any transport capacity to speak of not did they have the supply and support system to extend acros that huge ocean that borders each side of america

That works too, although I think we're in agreement that there wouldn't actually be a whole lot of fighting. They both have to maintain the fortified lines to prevent the other side from breaking through, but at the same time they have to deal with all the other areas of the world and can't sink too many resources into the Eastern Front. Also, we never really discussed the Soviet leader. I propose a mindmeld of Stalin, Lenin and Trotsky in a robot body. You know, just because.

In this reality, Japan never attacked Pearl Harbor and the isolationists won, leaving America largely demilitarized. Furthermore, the Soviet-Nazi nonagression pact lasted longer then it did in real life, allowing Hitler to focus on the Western front and the subjugation of Europe and Stalin to build up his infrastructure even further.

    1. Stalin-Hitler pact lasted a long time. Seeing how 80-90% (citation neeeded) of German forces were deployed on the Eastern front, that gives a lot of spare resources to fuck around with.
    2. Operation Sea Lion suceeded, Britain and at least parts of their fleet under Nazi command.
    3. Large parts of the American fleet were, well, outdated.
    4. DEM JAPS, MAN, DEM JAPS.

    We can also propose
    5. Roosevelt wasn't elected, America remained isolationist and didn't start mobilization and military buildup until it was too late.

Trotsky was the sane one. To explain it simply: He was a Marxist who believed that Communism should be democratic, instead of being a kafkaesque bureaucratic nightmare. He was one of the major figures early on, second only to Lenin himself, lost the struggle for power against Stalin, and was eventually assassinated by Soviet agents. He was a pretty awesome guy.

India was conquered by the Soviets but is full of angry rebels who want to free themselves.

Australia was forced to move to Antarctica, where they've built an advanced-but-limited technocracy that might be able to rival the Soviets, if it wasn't for the fact that the most conservative estimates put them at a population of about 25,000.

Japan is a relatively neutral nation that doesn't take sides because both the Soviets and the Nazis would sink them (literally) if they did. We can't seem to agree on whether or not they get giant robots.

What I gathered from the old threads as a summary

Constitutionalists: What’s left of America turned to worshipping their long lost founding fathers. This turned into a quest for necromancy and raising them. Eventually (depending on GM) they succeed, culminating in the Founding Lords. These undead beings are rarely seen and lead their hordes from the shadows. The constitutionalists believe that death makes everyone equal but, not being able to convince people to kill themselves, they are resurrected as (usually) still intelligent undead. Opposing soldiers are used for the mindless work force/ unstoppable waves of undead. Endgame is total world undead infection (ie. now everyone is equal) OR creation of “The Hickory Death” a blending of Andrew Jackson and cthulhu. Players can be living servants infiltrating the other powers, or high level necromancers depending on what you want to play.

    >>9044932

Nazis: After the long protracted war with Europe and not wanting to anger the sleeping bear Germany invades America from the east coast, initially gaining massive ground. Their research into daemonology (or other magic w/e you want) made them able to squash the unprepared American forces. However this invasion did awake Mother Russia. She invades from Alaska (my own thing, seems more plausible than across the sea, no?). The two are locked in an unwinnable war for the North America continent and all she holds. If you call into question the whole “But Germany is pretty close to Russia back in Europe” I call massive build-up means no one wants to even open that can of worms. Effectively cannons bristle on both sides and any assault from that angle would kill the aggressor. German life is pretty good for the average citizen. German tech is augmented by magic almost all the time. Being a mage in Germany is like being of the upper class, there are lots of them but it’s not so common place as to be ridiculous. Endgame is... largely undefined but my idea is basically kill Moscow, or tip the balance in their favour by taking North America. Players can be sorcerers, soldiers, spies... you name it.

Only remaining American military force should be the USMC, but that doesn't go without a cost. All of the marines should be amalgams of course, the undead, stolen Soviet equipment, and influence from demonic Nazi horrors that they've been fighting against for so long.

Russians: Awakened into acting by Germany’s invasion of North America. Largely ignoring the eldritch abomination that is magic Russians instead esteem the art of industrial technology. Heavily armed and armoured troops and weapons move slowly but unstoppably across the battlefield. While they have a penchant for the big weapons they still support espionage and information warfare as well. Russia gained China’s support early in the war with Germany and has gained its magic and resources in order to supplement its own industrial might. While the old Russia’s oppression under Stalin was horrific to say the least the communist regime, with the aid of China’s workforce no longer needs to keep the bootheels on their citizens as much. Their invasion through Alaska has been bogged down by German resistance and daemons. Endgame: kicking Gemany out of North America. Players can be soldiers, spies, tank crews etc

I think we should just let 'em have their giant robots. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but that hasn't stopped us yet! Britain: still under debate but the position appears to stay with the roving country-less [insert leader here] attempting to resurrect “the Bulldog” a spirit who will be able to crush the opponents of great BRITONNIA! Idea is largely based around the queen on a ridiculously awesome airship, but floating British isles has been proposed as well. Endgame is resurrection of the bulldog. Players can be stormtroopers aboard the airship, or contractors working for the queen to find some eldritch goodies to help in her quest.

Australia: After retreating from their homeland due to Rusky invasion they have gone to Antarctica. In order to keep themselves from being wiped out they have advanced their tech to ridiculous heights. The “Curtis Curtain” keeps the other powers from even knowing they still exist, an energy barrier that shields them and keeps their cities and infrastructure invisible. They are attempting to get to the moon in order to gain resources and be able to fuck people up from orbit (thats the endgame). Not very suitable for players; unless they’re raiders grabbing metal or other resources. If they are then they will be extremely well equipped, but have no hope for support.
Middle east is resource warfare and eldritch artefact land. South America is disputed but not heavily, essentially a “bottled war” so Germany and Russia can test their new toys on each other. Africa is split between Russia and Germany (mostly Germany since they have less of the world atm). India is under full uncontrollable revolt.

South America has deteriorated into a massive "war in a can" that both sides pour resources into. The entire continent is a massive burning hellhole of jungle and environmental catastrophe.

In the north, Brazil leads the "People's Alliance" against the Argentinian "United Front". Both sides receive enormous hardware and equipment subsidies from the Axis and the Soviet Union (respectively) and both factions are intent to win control of the southern hemisphere with their proxies. Truly, the war will be fought to the last south american.

Every time one side escalates equipment shipments and material investment, the other side matches it. 25% of the male population has been killed, another 15% injured. This state of affairs has continued for nearly a decade, and both alliances are literally fraying apart.

Meanwhile, the great states watch and are wary.

The reason we're trying to do so much work on the entirety of the planet is so that we can set a campaign anywhere, with the players playing Soviets or Nazis. Constitutionalists should also be playable, and other nations could become playable as well if they get fleshed out enough.

No one's invading Japan cause well since the war started, Japan's kind of gone a little fucking crazy. There's no real government or law outside of "Do as thou wilt and pray you don't get caught doing it."
It's kind of like this, if you don't have a Giant Robot it's because your a broke fucker and destined for the Soylent Green factories or because some little shit stole yours. Technology is also quite a bit more advanced than Soviet Tech, but also a lot of it is pretty impractical (unless a machine that can mechanically rape all the women in your family can be considered useful). People who cause too much trouble or just piss off the wrong people get strapped into planes and sent over the pacific, usually landing in Russian territory and are conscripted or killed by the local authorities.

Nah. They can be living agents spying on foreign nations, or diplomats soliciting for help. Remember, they're just all about American freedom and democracy. The American Dream! Mom and baseball and apple pie! Repel the British Invaders! Damn the Reds! A bit confused, and certainly undead abominations, but they don't see themselves as such. To them, it's a step towards realizing the true American Dream, so they'll likely be sending diplomats to all unaligned countries to help them in their struggle for freedom, much like during the revolutionary war. Of course, they'll probably be rebuffed, but I see a Constitutionalist campaign as heavy on the intrigue and politicking, at least if you're playing living agents. If you're playing as necromancers, though, it becomes a whole 'nother game.

I disagree. I think that the Imperial government should be in full force, with the militarists having taken complete control of the party and relegating the Emperor to a divine figure-head. They're constantly smouldering and being unable to conquer "their" rightful territory due to Soviet occupation, and are constantly plotting against everyone. The only reason they haven't been wiped out is because it would be too much of a nightmare trying a full-scale invasion of Japan, and both the Soviets and Nazis are too busy dealing with one another. In the meantime, they continue building crazier and crazier war-machines and plotting to expand the glorious Empire of Japan, but can do nothing. So you get all sorts of military tech like mechas in the shape of Oni Demons or kappa-submarines.

Well, I think it has to encapsulate the Japanese militarism, ethnocentrism, and imperialism of the WWII era. Their technology was somewhat crude, but they were fanatically devoted to their cause and the code of bushido was resurrected and modified to ensure a sufficient level of loyalty. Anything evoking the glory of Nippon, at least in their eyes, would be a good idea. Maybe robotic representations of mythical creatures wouldn't be a good idea, but I think that we can work with that on some level. Maybe they cover all their equipment in leering faces to demoralize the enemy. Maybe they have a rotating eight-turreted tank, codename OROCHI.

Anyway, I don't think that Japan would at all be a major player, and I'd like to go back to the Constitutionalists, specifically their internal power structure.

Maybe something like this, in ascending order of power:
Slave: These would be the reanimated, unintelligent corpses of Nazis and Soviets
Agent: Living worshiper of the Constitutionalists, this encapsulates all non-undead members
Citizens: Most Constitutionalists would fall here. Risen corpses with intelligence, they have full rights and can choose to move further up the power structure or simply remain citizens

Other than that, it splits directly into American ranks, with a separation between military and civil services. It would be identical to the structure laid out in the Constitution, pretty much. However, as you ascend up the civil government you also ascend in the ranks of the cult, making it a weird mixture of Democratic Republic, Theocracy, and Necrocracy. The Founding Lords always remain at the top.

We haven't really done a whole lot of neat stuff with them, and I want to make them a bit different then the standard. I think it's why we've been focusing on America; it's the most interesting idea to come out of it. Heck, I'd be willing to ditch the rest of the world and just campaign in North America and the three factions competing there.

Alright guys, it's now time to fuck around with Russia. We'll go with Russia first because there will be less whining about making them "not evil enough."

I think the Russians should have nukes; they're part of the reason the middle of the US sucks so much, because they invented nukes to compete with the Nazis' world-ending magic. Of course, they were only using tacnukes, but it still fucked the land up pretty bad, and most living agents of the Constitutionalists die of cancer (or, in a few locations, straight-up radiation exposure) if they don't manage to get promoted to Citizen.

The central part of the United States was no-mans land for a long while, with both parties mounting occasional air raids on the other side, but it ended in a stalemate and both the Nazis and the Soviets fortified the coasts. Soviets control territory to Utah, and the Nazis to maybe Ohio, but everything in-between is no-mans land, with blasted craters, living cities trying feebly to survive, rag-tag groups of survivors making mad dashes to either side for safety from the predations of bandits, enemy soldiers, or radiation poisoning. Then, a Representative appears, speaking of a new life, of new hope, of America reborn. They speak of Manifest Destiny, of the Founding Fathers, of your own slice of Americana. It's not surprising to see that the Constitutionalists, based out of Army bunkers throughout the midwest, would so easily win converts.

    Listen guys.
Japan was a crapfest in WW2. They lost the war the minute they started it. You wanna know why?
Its the same reason Hitler invaded Russia.

They didnt have any fucking resources.
They needed all those american and dutch territories because they had no oil. You know what they did? They created a way to make oil out of trees, because they couldnt get it any other way.

Hitler had the same problem. He tried to go through the middle east and through Russia to get to the oil fields in the caucasians.

Now, in this case, because the Nazis are wizards now, oil doesn't really matter. For Japan though, it should be a 19th century hellhole.

However a point I would like to make is that the citizens arent doing well; the way the Nazis worked was they promised shit to get votes and then demoted everyone who wasnt a nazi to peasant status - then purged a great many nazis anyways. Initially, they allowed foreigners to visit and their citizens to leave, because the amount of patriotism was staggering - the nazis knew that everyone would see a good, efficient, powerful country. That changed of course.

So, now, powerful propoganda, magic public surveillance, sort of like V for Vendetta + 1984 + magic.

"CARRICK, ADRIAN. PLEASE REPORT TO YOUR NEAREST SECURITY STATION IMMEDIATELY"

It took a moment for the words to register and for Carrick to look up from his work, but, as he did, fear washed over him. What did Security want with him? He hadn't been fratenising with any "Treasonous Elements", at least not as far as he knew. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good; getting summoned by Security was never good. He turned, shrugging at the inquisitive looks of his fellow vat-workers, and attempted to walk nonchalantly towards the exit, ducking beneath pipes carrying the almost unidentifiable sludge that passed for food these days.

As Carrick passed the Observation platform, Supervisor Brown appeared to consider a snide remark, but instead satisfied himself with what could only be loosely termed a smile. It was the smile of a man who had long forgotten how. 'Maybe I'll incriminate Brown,' Carrick thought. The old bastard had made life hard enough for him. If Security were going to make him confess to being a traitor, he may as well bring Brown down too. The thought made him smile nervously. Maybe Security hadn't chosen him to make up their Traitor quotas. Maybe it was just a mistake, or maybe they wanted him as a witness. Carrick turned the wheel, unlocking the hatch and clambered out into the hallway. The throbbing hum of the engines was louder out here, and the constant leaks made the corridors damp and unpleasant. Say what you will about Vat-Work, but at least the areas around the Vats were at least a bit cleaner and quieter, and the strict requirements of the process meant that they had to be kept as dry as possible. Regulations made sure of that.

The hallways were nearly empty now. It was the middle of the work-shift, and most people would be busy at their stations. As he rounded the corner and saw the glass-walled Security Station and its complement of armed guards, Carrick's anxiousness grew.

    "Er... Adrian Carrick sirs, reporting."

The Guard Sergeant straightened up and rubbed his thin moustache. "Well, well Carrick. Took you long enough. You're going upstairs. Come with me." He turned sharply and strode towards the lift.

"Upstairs? But..." Carrick looked around at the other guards for some explanation, but recieved only sullen glares. As one of the guards cracked his knuckles, Carrick hurried after the Sergeant, who was now pushing a key into the lock that would summon the lift. He considered asking the Sergeant for some information, but the man's stony expression deterred any attempt at being read. With a screech of brakes, the lift came to a shuddering halt and the two men stepped inside. With another unhealthy mechanical grinding, the lift began to rise upwards. They had gone three floors, when it stopped and Carrick and the Sergeant had to quickly exit to make way for a squad of armed soldiers heading back down. Probably to deal with another Feral Scot raid. Carrick had no time to consider whether they were heading down to his floor, as the Sergeant gave him a shove. "Get moving, they're waiting for you".

"Who's wai-" But the Sergeant was silent again as they marched along, past offices and control rooms. This was the Governmental level, where all the administration and organisation neccesary to run the nation-ship was carried out. Carrick had only ever been this high-up once, to hand-deliver a report on food production to the General Food Council when the messaging system had broken down. Here, the noise of the engines was almost undetectable and the floors were practically dry. Carrick had little time to admire the place, as they now approached another lift, this one flanked by two armed guards in the red uniforms of the Queen's Guard. Even the Guard Sergeant's grim expression seemed perturbed by their cold, distant stares and emotionless faces.

"Adrian Carrick, as requested". As the two guards nodded as one, the Guard Sergeant quickly turned and strode away. The lift doors behind the guards opened silently, and they stood aside to allow Carrick to enter, not once looking at him. As he slowly moved into the lift, the doors behind him shut just as quickly and quietly, enclosing Carrick in a golden, mirrored chamber. Carrick could barely think straight. The Palace? But what the hell could they want with him here? Noticing himself in the mirrors, he desperately tried to tidy himself up, flattening his hair, dusting off his shabby overalls and drying off his moist forehead. He was so engrossed, that he barely noticed the doors behind him opening again. When he did step out of the lift, he was almost blinded by the light in this new room. As his eyes adjusted, he realised with awe that it was sunlight! He was above the surface!

As he realised this, he took in the rest of the room. It was long, and just as ostentaitiously decorated as the lift had been. Along both sides, stood more of the Queen's Guard, eyes forward and faces again, set in an emotionless distant stare. At the far end of the room, flanking a massive throne, were two men. One dressed in military finery, Carrick recognised as Prince Phillip, the Queen's Consort, a haggard and old parody of a prince; the other, a handsome man in a suit, he did not recognise. And between them, almost dwarfed by the throne, was the Queen.

Carrick had only ever seen pictures of her before, but they could not convey how beautiful she truly was. Her perfect face almost seemed to shine in the sunlight. Garbed like Britannia herself, Carrick couldn't help but feel a patriotic pride rise up in him, a pride which threatened to burst forth as she smiled at him. But then Carrick saw her eyes. They were black, like nothing he had ever seen, empty and soulless, and Carrick couldn't help but turn away to look at the handsome man who now spoke.

"Ah, Carrick. Good to see you my man. Must be a bit of a shock, all of this. Don't worry though, you're here to be rewarded for your service. I'm Jasper Maskelyne and I'm the Queen's advisor, of a sort. Now, do you know where we are?"

"I... no sir, I've no idea"

"Of course you wouldn't. Why would you? We've surfaced just off the western coast of America, the Soviet-occupied area. Her Majesty's government has need of a specific item that is located beyond the Soviet sphere of influence, in the No-Man's Land between the German and Russian lines. We need you to lead a team of commandos and specialists to infiltrate the Soviet lines and find this item, a very special book, and bring it back to a rendezvous point four weeks from now. "

Carrick could barely understand what was being asked of him. Was this some kind of joke?. "But sir, I'm not a commando. I work in the food vats sir. There must have been some mis-"

"No mistakes Carrick. Suffice it to say that it is the Queen's will that you lead this mission. You will, of course, recieve the requisite training, as well as a suitable rise in rank..."

Now the Queen spoke for the first time. Her voice was sweet, and sounded like the most beautiful music Carrick had ever heard. "Kneel".

Even had Carrick wanted to, he could not have resisted the command. He fell to one knee, his head bowed, as he heard the Queen rise from her throne, and the noise of sword being drawn. With a few steps, she was standing in front of him, and Carrick could feel the tap of the flat of the sword on his shoulders, then his head. "I dub thee, Sir Carrick. Arise".

Carrick arose, changed. And he was not afraid.

So I tried removing what I see as some of the sillier ideas Britain-wise (the airship, druids, the bulldog spirit and so on), and keeping it simple.

So here's how I see Britain evolving.

As Europe falls under the bootheels of the Nazis, Britain prepares for an invasion from the continent. With the humiliation at Dunkirk fresh in memory, the Army prepares to dig in and fight to the last as the Battle of Britain erupts in the air. Britain holds out for a good while, just as in the real world, but in the end, without a second front to worry about, Operation Sea Lion begins and German troops begin landing on the south coast. The Army falls back to its defensive positions, but they can only hold out for so long and slowly, but surely, Britain too falls. The German forces are assisted by Fifth Columnists led by Oswald Moseley, who the Germans will soon appoint Governor of the British Isles.

The British Government had already seen this defeat coming though, and had begun work on a plan to keep the most important bits of Britain out of the reach of the Germans. Work had begun on a gigantic submarine, to evacuate the Royals, the heads of the Army and government as well as all the necessary support for them. As Britain fell, the submarine was made ready and, with the help of the last of the British Navy, managed to break free of the Nazi blockade and out to the open ocean.

Hmmm, ya that might be better, less "Crazy Queen dives from the air, cue Ride of the Valkyries" more "tactical movement, getting what they need and leaving undetected" kind of deal.

However to make it over the top like the rest of this setting I would say that the sub should be giant, like upwards of 10k people working/living on it. And the endgame of "The Bulldog" or whatever else it is should be maintained, I'm thinking that resurrecting King Arthur is better but w/e

But this was not the only preparation that had been made. The impact of the increasingly apparent defeat on the King was particularly acute. He became increasingly withdrawn and depressed, and his daughter Elizabeth, was desperate for some way out of their grim situation. It was then she was approached by a young stage magician named Jasper Maskelyne.

Maskelyne, an illusionist who had assisted in the construction of defences with decoys and cunning ruses, in a quest for real magic, had discovered an ancient book, detailing the Fae-spirits that used to live in Albion, and how they might be contacted and dealt with. He had spoken to one of these entities, and was promised the protection of the heart of Britain, if he could only obtain the consent of a Princess.

The young Elizabeth was eager to hear of any solution, and together, she and Maskelyne made a deal with the Fae. Elizabeth was somehow possessed by the entity, and Maskelyne made immortal to serve under It, but the heart of the Nation was protected in the submarine which miraculously made it past the German Navy.

British society soon changed aboard the Submarine. King George died, and the Elizabeth-thing rose to the throne, taking Prince Phillip as an easily controlled husband. Parliament dissolved into insignificance, splitting up into various committees and sub-committees dedicated to the running of various aspects of the ship.

Gets a bunch of angels (or 'angels') and so on, seeks to gather Excalibur and the Holy Grail to resurrect the ghosts of Knights long past to reclaim England. Sort of white necromancy where English commandos sneak around communing with spirits and raising the ghosts of those killed to give them a chance for vengance, that kind of thing.

I would like to put something forward that my friends and I thought would be a fun idea when we were discussing the setting. Make the Finnish into something similar to sniper/ninja death gods. Finland might have lost the war to Soviet superior numbers but they remain as "angles of death" or something similarly dramatic. Soviet soldiers that have to hold Finland fear going out at night because of the high likelihood that they would never return. The Finnish freedom fighters could never actual remove the Soviets but a single man of theirs would be equivalent to Rambo, Snake Pliscan, and a ninja all rolled into one.

And a link to the reason why we thought this would work: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_War

The British government-in-exile was refused access to the Isolationist USA, and even its former colonies turned against it, especially as Nazi and Soviet influence spread round the globe. The submarine settled into its new existence.

Nowadays, there's effectively three main power blocs. The Queen is effectively in charge. The civilian government keeps most of the ship running, clamping down on dissent as much as it can. The Army is basically all that's left of the Armed Forces, the Navy mostly being destroyed in the evacuation, and the Air Force mostly being subsumed into the Army. The Queen has worked her Fae-magics over a substantial proportion of those in charge to keep them subservient.

There is resistance to her regime though. From within, disaffected Republican terrorists plot to remove the Queen entirely, and deep in the slums and food vats, there's plenty of places to hide. And outside of the bounds of civilisation, there are the near-feral Scottish tribes, hidden deep in the ventilation systems and sewers. Originally only a small hardcore of Scottish Nationalists, their numbers have grown over the years, from disaffected Republicans or just people who wandered down the wrong corridor at the wrong time.

What with the Fae Queen mostly in charge, I think we can leave her motivations suitably obscure. She wants something, perhaps the freeing of her Fae brothers and sisters from their prisons? Especially with the demonic Nazis trampling all over England's Green and Pleasant Land. Liberation of the homeland would be their priority. The means to do that, is probably gonna be the weird obscure bit.

I can see British commando raids deep into hostile territory to acquire seemingly mundane and unrelated items. The Queen's got something planned, but even Maskelyne can't see it yet.

So the entire country is basically one big running gun battle, gang wars non stop in the streets.

Meanwhile Tibet is free because they have achieved a state of super enlightenment to the point where they cannot leave the mountains because entering the materialistic modern world would shock them out of it to the point where they could never return. No one dares attack them either because they've gained a sort of heavenly kung-fu that allows them to strike from multiple planes of existence at the same time. Effectively a grand master can punch the fetal soul of your great ancestor before it comes into existence a million years in the past. I'd originally thought the Scots would work better, since I don't know how many Irish would even get on board the Sub. Since the Submarine was built in secret, far away from the Germans, that probably means it was built in Scotland, so there'll be proportionately more Scots on board.

But I guess the Irish would also work.

Yes, including American Jews. Nazis control the west coast, where the majority of American Jews settled. Those living in Russia might not have fared better, what with the massive racism most Russians held towards Jews. Fact of the matter is, in this setting the Jews wouldn't likely have any power, chance for payback, or numbers. I suppose that a few might have survived is disparate places all over the globe, quietly trying to assimilate into their host cultures.

Hmmm... The Caribbean! Complete wildlife take over. Every island is a unique ecosystem with an incredible amount of biodiversity. The few tribes that do live there have virtually no technology beyond the stone age and have no desire to see that change. The islands are rich with natural resources though, so getting them under control is a hot target for most nations. The problem is the wildlife itself is incredibly hostile and dangerous. Once harmless plants have been known to evolve spores only poisonous to humans within weeks of landfall on any given island and then after the invaders have been driven off lose them just as fast. The natives don't have the means to act in hostility towards the invaders being to few in numbers, but they are often content to let the islands take care of themselves.

Their government is a pure meritocratic magocracy, at least in the lower echelons. Hitler has lost all vestiges of sanity and is kept locked away and occasionally pulled out to serve as a figurehead for the German people. His illness is a well-concealed secret. For the most part, magic isn't too common in Germany, reserved typically for the wealthy magocrats. All children, regardless of parentage, go to the same schools, receive the same educations, and have the same chances, and are encouraged to be vicious to climb their way to the top. In this case, their are three routes to power: through the civil government, through the military, or through one of the mage academies. The most advanced mages specialize in demonology, while lessers can either enter the military as battlefield casters or the civil government as public works mages. The average soldier is better fed, trained, and equipped than Russian soldiers, but they are far less cost-effective. Most use fairly standard weaponry, comparable to today's, but the commandos are often demon/Human hybrids armed with infernal technology.

As for your other points, Goebels and the rest of Hitler's staff were long ago assassinated quietly by up-and-coming Nazi politicians, but they couldn't bring themselves to fully oust Hitler, and instead locked him away, keeping the entire affair sub-rosa. Hitler still has quite a personality cult around him, with many citizens feeling nothing but reverence for the man. However, it has not edged into pure worship yet. Instead, they worship their state and their race and the entire concept of Nazism.

Magical support, summoned demons, magi-tek guns for elite formations. Basically, if the Soviets go on and equip their elite formations with power armour and such, the Nazis can answer with giving their elite formations some magical support. Though, I'd think the power armor should be reserved for soviet elite formations and/or organic support units in regular formations.

I'd prolly be somewhere like that on the individual level: german penal unit soldier > russian conscript > german regular > russian guard = german elite soldiers (Waffen SS, prolly Fallschirmjäger)

I would amend this so that it is true only if you are properly "Aryan." Anyone who is a lesser race (here looking at you italy/spain/africa) becomes second class citizens. The government only educates them till the 7th grade, with a chance at trade schools if the student is particularly skilled or intelligent. If a lesser race person wants to join the military the do so as a grunt, and an entire life time of service wouldn't even earn them the rank of Sergent. They are also tested for magically proficiency while they are young and if they are found to have adequate enough skill/inborn talent/etc. then they are sent away to a "special academy." At the academy they are lobotimized and forcefully possessed; turning them into demonic super soldiers. Over all life for a non-aryan in Germany would be unpleasant.

Heh, that might actually work against powered armor, if you think about it. Who cares about getting through? You land a proper hit with a flamethrower or a phosphorus grenade on it and you'll end up either outright frying the guy inside or overheating the armor to the point where it ceases working for a while. Which menas you can casually walk up and start making sure that it won't be operational ever again.

Well, and I guess any german infantry unit that's supposed to go up against that stuff would get as many Panzerfausts as they can carry. Perhaps even the penal guys, given just how retardedly cheap those things were even IRL.

It might be an issue of different types of magic: some are inborn, some are learned, some are granted by external powers. Magic being inborn for the German practice works really well flavor-wise. I'd say whatever Britain's using is external-based (granted by friendly fey, etc.) Not sure how American necromancy works though.

Since most sides seem to tap into it in some variety, I imagine it's a relatively uncommon natural phenomenon. Most of those only have potential and don't randomly manifest powers, and it requires those who manifested powers and learned to control them to teach these ones how to make use of theirs. I imagine they're tapping into some kind of other-world-- and the products are shaped by the individual, their cultural expectations, and their education. Maybe Germans make demons because they expect to, while the Brits get Faerie because they expect to.

As I see it, the Nazis are the really magical race. Nazi sorcery probably relies on innate genetic traits and attributes. You're either born to become a sorcerer, or you're not.

The Constitutionalists are a bit more religious in their Magic, but again, it probably comes more from innate skill.

I don't really see the British as being that magical, except for the Queen. They might receive blessings from their Queen, which would probably work by bending fate to protect those blessed. And she protects the submarine itself from detection by hostile powers. Nothing too showy.

Andrei really had nothing against the Constitutionalists- they wanted their nation back, young though it was. He took a long view and postulated that someday the war might end, and the Consitutionalists might be granted a reserve, that the Reich would be nothing but a bad memory and the world might live in peace. Of course, as a pragmatist he didn't see that day coming any time soon- it was his duty to fight, and there was nothing that would stand in his way. He keyed up the throttle of his armor and felt the engine rumble in response. Heavy, metallic footsteps thudded across the open tundra. The wind was whipping and the plateau was barren, but he kept up the pace. The compass read his heading as West, and all he could do was make for the coast. Deep strike ops didn't always go as planned, as his trek was evidence. Thump thump thump. Bozhyemoi, it was mind-numbing.

How about it is genetic unless granted from an external source. For example the Queen is magical because of the Fae but the Nazi's lack the any patrons willing to do the same. For the Constitutionalists it works this way while they are alive, but after becoming "Citizens" they are granted limited magical ability as a boon from the Founding Lords (or simply from the process of being revived as Liches).

Soviet powered infantry aren't that much bigger than other infantrymen. Powerful enough to tear apart a man and just enough to go toe to toe with a Nazi-summoned minor demon or an American necrotic-golem.

alright /tg/ I'm not a very good writefag but this idea caused me to try my hand at it.

Spirit of Motherland was massive. Bristling with artillery, AA guns and anti-personnel weapons it sat on the Nevada death plains, dead in the water. Her fuel rods were spent. She had been the backbone of the Russian Desert corps for 3 years now. A shipment was due to arrive in another few days.
“Und you say she cannot even aim her veapons?”
“Yesssssssssss” The wind demons voice was more like a breeze than an audible voice, but Ilse Aichinger had been working with the creatures as scout coordinator for a while now.
“so vhat shall ve do about it?” The commander asked quietly. His SS uniform creaked as he moved.
“A tunnel sir, the guns were set up for phalanx fire before the fuel rods were spent, a solid sphere of fire still keeps us from getting close. I have ten earth golems pulled straight from der underwelt, waiting for payment. We tunnel close, cut inside and rip the cowardly Russian rats out of their steel abomination”
“How many for do the beasts want?”
“One hundred souls, sir. We already requisitioned the inferiors for payment”
“Very well, make it so. Have the sturmtruppen ready.”

John Henry never really thought of himself as a bad man. No, he thought of himself as a patriot. Born American, died American, unliving American! And by the Founding Fathers he would be damned sure that America would be reclaimed, in the name of truth, freedom, and democracy!

John Henry rose to his withered, skeletal feet and slipped on a pair of boots. Less that he needed them, and more for show. They were very well-shined. The perfect thing to inspire his men.

John Henry stood in front of the formation, eying the soldiers' uniforms. He raised a bony finger to adjust the helmet worn by one, and brushed some specks of gore and shredded cloth from the jacket of another.

"Men!" John Henry started. "I am ever grateful that you have come to us and have seen the light of democracy! Now, we are besieged by those who would dare extinguish this torch! Stand with me, hold the flame aloft! For Washington! For Jefferson!"

His speech was answered by a chorus of low groans and gurgles as the shambling horde before him turned and started their march Westward.

The ground before the massive steel door opened up. The whole was slowly widened and ten walking rocks climbed out, followed quickly by a cloaked man and fifty lightly armed soldiers. Immediately two began cutting through the door.
“Your job is complete I release you” Ilse Aichinger told the rocks. They nodded and dissolved into the earth. He shook his head. Mostly used to the chatter of the wind creatures he wasn’t used to the silence of earth golems.
A rumbling disturbed the quiet of the desert plains. Ilse glanced up, expecting to see the guns of the mountain sized tank swivelling, or the treads beginning to turn. Just saw the few birds that nested amongst its girth flying away. Ilse looked out into the plain and saw a massive hole opening up in the ground, slowly widening. “Those treacherous daemons spawn! They’re revealing our position! Shiest!” was Ilse’s first thought. But the truth was much worse, the golems had betrayed them, just not the German sneak attack. Daemon’s lived for chaos even if they had their own rules. What the German scouting didn’t reveal was the presence of a massive Constitutionalist necropolis below the plain that Spirit of Motherland sat on. The golems just opened it up. Now wave upon wave of undead were piling out of the hole they made.

Ssva Shessla circled the tank from above, his tasks complete and his master about to perish he didn’t care about returning “as ordered”. The human’s ridiculous contraption was being swarmed by the empties, dead humans. Ssva didn’t particularly care what happened to humans, nor did he have any interest in why they fought, but there was opportunity to watch chaos at work so he stayed.
The first of the empties had entered the tank and by the screams audible even at this altitude had begun killing everything in sight. A siren sounded, Ssva was curious, what could the steel monkeys be up to? He didn’t get to finish the thought, a furious bright light lit the sky for miles around. A quarter of a second later an explosion rocked the plain, air being sucked into the heat of the explosion. Ssva calmly watched, he was composed of nothing but daemonic air, he could affect nothing, but as a trade off nothing could affect him.
    >> Anonymous 04/07/10(Wed)23:57 No.9050949
    >>9050924

Motion by the massive hole attracted Ssva’s attention. An almost-empty was shambling out of the whole, screaming in the old tongue. Ssva dismissed it, until he saw writhing in the smoke and debris of the steel monkey’s monstrosity. It was knitting itself together, but in a different form, flesh from all sides was covering the steel, it was dragging itself together. The almost-empty collapsed as the new thing rose up out the blast. The almost-empty had used the energies of the explosion and the souls of the dead and dying to tie a soul into this new creature.
The eldritch abomination reared up and screamed into the sky “NIXON IS BACK!” and its howl echoed across the land “HHHHHHHHHHHAAAAROOOOOOOOOOoooooooooOOOOOOoooooo”

I dunno, powered armor isn't compact. Lightest case scenario is a weedwhacker motor, generator, and some servos. 50 pounds, not including ammo or weapons. Most likely powered armor would be more like an up-armored Humvee with legs (if a tad smaller). You need heavier weapons, high-strength limbs, a power plant (like a high-torque diesel engine), fuel for the power plant, and armor on top of that. It might weight almost a ton, but the increased strength and firepower would certainly be worth it.

Think Helein's original Marauders from Starship Troopers (the book, not the movie), or maybe Terran Marines from Starcraft- ten feet tall, heavy as a car and armed with a .50 caliber machine gun at the very least.

Constitutionalists practice a religion based on a twisted, demented interpretation of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the speeches of various US presidents, all of which are considered holy texts. They worship the Founding Fathers and several of the more well-known presidents as gods, calling them "Founding Lords," and seek to bring half-crazed, undead, inhuman versions of them into this world to reclaim America from outside invaders. Rumors say that they've begun preparation for the ritual that will release the most dangerous of the Founding Lords, Andrew Jackson, often called "The Hickory Death."

    >helping out non-power armored infantry make breakthroughs in enemy formations. Large formations of power armor is rare, and said formations appearing usually means shit just got real.

No no. You are doing it wrong. Armored vehicles spread thin and used as infantry support is mainly a WW 1 tactic, since they were slow and people did not know how to properly use armor correctly. Remember, Blitzkrieg tactics and the use of fast mechanized and armored spearheads originated in WW 2, in this world's past. Though the Germans began this, the Soviets learn quickly.

Now, in this world, the fighting on the Eastern Front didn't happen, but, instead, these fights happened in other parts of the globe. Still, it ends in the same result: Massed Armored Formations.

Bingo, guys. Yes, the first thing people think of when they see heavy armor is clunky and impractical. Think of this:>>9050800 isn't a bundle of cables- look close. Sealed canopy, what looks like a fifty for a rifle, and articulated joints allowing for good range of movement. Think less T-72, and imagine if THAT and an Bradley IFV had a baby. Drop the idea of heavy steel armor and look at something like Patlabor- the police 'mechs weren't too tall and a large portion was encased in fabric. Logically, it makes more sense to have softer, projectile-resistant armor rather than the heavy stuff we see on tanks or APCs. Streamline it. A semi and a sports car are both run on gasoline, but only one looks clunky. Just because it's running on a diesel engine doesn't mean big, smoky exhaust pipes. In fact, if your diesel exhaust is black, you need to be pimpslapped.

Teddy would be more suited to bombastically leading the charge, fighting the good fight, and all that, while Washington would quietly lead the organization as a whole. America: Nothing much has changed since the first summary. Constitutionalists move up a set number of tiers from living agents and slaves to undead abominations. The consensus about the magic system seems to be that it is genetic unless some external source grants magical prowess as a boon. What this means for the Constitutionalists is that most of their living agents are non-magical (with an odd cult leader here or there possessing magical skill) and most of the sentient undead possessing magical ability. The exact time when America fell is uncertain allowing for presidents up till Nixon or even possibly Reagan to be thrown into the Founding Lords pot (although the DM might want to use the later president as twisted Messianic Figures of the Constitutionalists).
    >> Anonymous 04/08/10(Thu)01:22 No.9052964
Soviets: Still tech based. Heavy industrial overtones for their gear, power armor troops are available but not prevalent. Who is leading them is still unclear, could be a gestalt mind composed of Lenin/Stalin/Trotsky or a sort of counsel of the three with Lenin serving as tie breaker.
    >> Anonymous 04/08/10(Thu)01:23 No.9052990
Nazi Germany: Basically unchanged with some more depth added to their social system. Specifically the strong divide between Aryan and non-Aryan citizens. Aryan mages become a sort of nobility/upper-class while non-Aryan mages become mindless half-man half-demon super soldiers.
    >> Anonymous 04/08/10(Thu)01:24 No.9053004
    Australia: Nothing much new added.

Britain: completely reworked. They now are the survivors of the Nazi invasion living on a submarine. The Queen has been possessed by the Fae and is aided by an illusionist named Jasper Maskelyne. Their endgame has been made uncertain but the submarines culture seems to draw heavily on a Camelot-ish society with feral scots men haunting the lower decks and just waiting for victims.
    >> Anonymous 04/08/10(Thu)01:24 No.9053015
    Japan: still undecided.

China: Also seems undecided with it bouncing between a magic heavy country to a technocracy similar to the soviets. (personally the magic seems to contradict the Soviets style so if they are going to be allied/subservient to the Soviets they should heavily toward tech over magic but that is just my opinion.)

Finland: Conquered by the Soviets but the residents have become expert killers. More like ghosts then men, they slaughter any Soviet soldier who wanders to far from their fellows. Mentioned only in whispers by Soviets forced to serve there for fear of drawing a Fin's attention to them.

We do need a better name for it, though. Deathworld Earth is pretty descriptive, but it's lacking some oomph.

I'm not entirely sure we agreed upon the Finland bit.

I'm down with it. It'd be interesting for a story if a British commando was sent to go and try to secure an alliance with them

It was kind of passed over as a "sure, whatever, we'll come back to it" deal

I do like the idea of the Finns as ghostly remnant killing machines. They're too small in number and resources to actually cause major damage to the Soviet war machine but they're nearly impossible to catch or kill and make operations in Finland a nightmare for the soldiers there.

Somewhat strange that the Soviets can take on eldritch horrors conjured up by the Nazis and have fistfights between mecha Trotsky and undead Roosevelt, but they can't take on a few potshots from an annexed nation. Yes, I know the Fins did awesome against the Soviets and Nazis irl, doesn't necessarily translate to them being untouchable if the entirety of North America gets crushed.

Its far too late to be questioning logic. This story is running on pure rule of cool at this point

Then the Finns stepped their shit up in response. Who the fuck knows? It's not a big deal regardless.

Maybe they actually ARE ghosts. Finland as a nightmarish frozen wasteland inhabited only by the defiant dead.

    Names for this?
    - Necrotic World War
    - Necrosis Earth
    - something of that ilk?

Necrosis/necrotic/whatever as a name theme doesn't really fit most of the major powers, though.
