Hey there /tg/. If you don't mind, I would like to enlist your creative talents a little bit more (since you guys REALLY came out in force for the earlier fluff thread a while back).

V2 is nearing completion, and we have been reviewing old sections to see what works and what doesn't. During our review with people running online campaigns, we realized that no one was running things in the "straight canon" Eva-verse. On further investigation, it was concluded that the currently supplied information simply is not enough to really run a game in it. The sad part is, most of what AdEva supplies is already itself made up or extrapolated from the meager info provided by the Neon Genesis Evangelion series.

In short: I humbly ask /tg/ to lend me it superb worldbuilding talents to help flesh out the Evangelion Universe. The Second Impact and the months following it are fairly well described, but what the "present day" is like is pretty unclear aside from a few key facts.

For your reference, the current version of the setting is described here:

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7N4CXZG1

Not all of it is set in stone, and there may be some wiggle room to make way for a particularly good idea.

I wouldn't normally make this request, but single good /tg/ thread on this topic could speed up the release of AdEva v2 by weeks. And I would like to get you v2 as fast as I can without skimping on the quality I owe you.

    Thank you for your time.

"People always talk about how Second Impact was horrible. They talk about how they were left without homes, how people they loved died, how they were forced to do things they hated just to survive one more day. No one ever talks about the dreams, though. I have them every night. I can't really even remember them properly. They should be boring - I remember being in an elevator that never reached its destination, looking out the window of a plane, that kind of thing. They should have been boring, and they weren't. I felt terrible lonliness, like I was the only person left in the world. And that feeling of someone watching me. Like they were hovering over me and watching. I was almost pissing myself. I don't know what they mean, but every night I wake up in a cold sweat and I wonder where I'm going and what will happen when I get there."

Huh. I like it, and will certainly be adding it to be repository of fluff, but I'm afraid that isn't quite what I mean.

I'm not looking for actual fluff pieces like quotes or bits of story. I am looking for ideas of what "the present" in an Evangelion Universe would be like. What countries are in power, what countries are in shit. Who is important and why. If your characters visit England, are they going to find a nationalistic regime or a barely-functional nation whose people are immigrating to the mainland in droves?

    Things like that.

I have seen /tg/ pick up the ball and run with it on matters much more obscure than Evangelion. I am hoping such success can be repeated here.

It's pretty heavily implied in the series that the UN is basically a world government. Probably the nations were weakened by the 2nd Impact and the UN took charge of relief administration since no individual country could. Explains how NERV can coordinate industrial, military and research efforts in Europe, Japan and the US seamlessly. It's probable that all national militaries have been merged into the UN forces as well.

Also, the 2nd Impact raised the sea levels by quite a lot, so there might not be any England left, or at least much of it will be underwater. Makes me wonder if there's a London-2 further inland, like Tokyo-3.

Life in the US is a bizarre mash of luxury and poverty. Along with the most modern and advanced cities in the world, it also boasts one of the highest unemployment rates. The homeless live in tent cities on the outskirts of cities, and so many of the new storefronts are simply empty that it sometimes seems like parts of the city are simply movie sets. Public works projects to keep artists busy saw beautiful sculpture and murals being made, but now no one can afford to maintain them, and it is only a matter of time before they vanish.

I imagine China would be rather like a post-apocalyptic version of what you'd call a "points of light" setting. The big cities have shrank a bit but remained strong, especially if there's a NERV base there, but the countryside would very much fall into anarchy or simply ignore it. Some smaller towns would be ruined, some passed over. The whole place would probably be a bit smaller too.

At least that's what immediately comes to mind. Anyone who knows the country better could probably think of more plausible ways for it to change.

To help get the ball rolling, one of the sections we are making from scratch for v2 is a section on "Non-Canon Organizations". These will be, for the most part, human organizations that might perform the roles of human antagonists be opposing the UN, Nerv or the Pilots directly.

We have had a couple of loose ideas thus far:

The "Liberated Nations" (name VERY subject to change): a combination of former military officers from a dozen countries who felt betrayed by their nations agreement to surrender control of their armed forces to the UN. Formally at each others throats on the edges of UN controlled territory, they have recently suddenly started working together and recruiting the poor and disenfranchised in regions where the UN is unable to supply aid.

The "Tribulation Brigade": In actuality bunch of different religious extremist groups. Some oppose Nerv because they think the Angels are really messengers from god. Others think that the creation of the Evas and Nerv's meddling with the sanctity of life caused Second Impact. One cult may very well be lead by a socially-manipulative Tabbris who is using his AT Field to perform miracles. All are out for Nerv's blood.

The "Concerned Parents Alliance": A PETA-like group that finds the use of adolescents as the pilots of weapons of war abhorrent, and intend to remove the Pilots from Nerv's control by any means necessary.

The Eigenart Initiative: Founded by a rogue faction of Selee after Second Impact, they have devised an alternate to Human Instrumentality: using Lilith to grant humanity control of their own AT Fields, effectively turning each human into something not unlike an Angel. This would avoid the evolutionary dead-end that Selee was trying to avoid, without turning humanity into a sea of goop never able to act again. Obviously powerful in their own right, if forced to opperate on the fringes as they are hunted by Selee-controlled UN forces.

The thing is, we don't have much more than what is listed above. If you don't have any ideas for the world in general, is there something about the above organizations that strikes your fancy? Or perhaps you have an idea for an entirely new organization?
    >> Anonymous 04/02/10(Fri)21:24 No.8943790
The Impact brought humanity together. Racial, ethnic, religious and national divides faded to insignificance following the disaster. The world, what was left of it, united at last under a common flag, sharing a common goal: survival. Humanity is now a global community, but rebuilding communications took time, and the infrastructure of most nations is still damaged beyond repair. Air travel is a luxury few can afford, most now travel by boat. Outside many cities, refugee camps have sprung up, intended to be temporary shelters they are becoming a permanent fixture.

    > It's probable that all national militaries have been merged into the UN forces as well.

That's actually the series canon explanation of how the hostilities after Second Impact ended, by the signing of the "Valentine Treaty".

Though since then, certain wealthy countries have been allowed to develop small "self defense" forces.

Despite the modern world always needing work to be done, or perhaps because of it, people keep being drawn back underwater, to the remnants of the life that used to be. Whether it is to recover heirlooms of emotional significance, rob a bank that hasn't been gutted by government excavation teams or throw a rock through the windows of your old alma mater, companies loaning diving equipment have been making a steady profit for the last decade. So much is this practice prevalent that governing forces no longer try to suppress it, instead offering rewards for objects of cultural significance. The many dangers for the inexperienced tend to weed out the competition, and professional divers can make a lucrative - if not guaranteed - income.

Finland suffered from major flooding after Second Impact. Initially, it seemed like most of southern Finland would simply vanish under the water. No one expected the Finnish to refuse to move just because of a little thing like forty feet of water. While some of the land has been reclaimed from the sea with the use of massive seawalls and constantly-working pumping facilities, some Finnish towns simply built up, using their old buildings and homes as foundation work. Throughout much of the year, ice floes are thick enough for the Finns to walk around town normally, but the rest of the time they simply boat from one place to another, sometimes on flimsy rafts.

"Stalkers" - explorers that breach military cordons in order to loot or delve into the ruins of pre-Impact civilization. They dive into submerged skyscrapers, follow destroyed roads, locate old caches of equipment and data, and even art for private collectors. A thorn in the UN's side, but are allowed to operate since the UN intelligence buys info from them as well.

Brazil suffered badly from Second Impact, two disasters rocking it - flooding and drought in equal measure. First, massive flooding turned the Amazon into a sea, drowning the rainforest under more than a dozen meters of water. With the climate changes that followed, Brazil became startlingly dry, the water table becoming badly disrupted and changing wind currents driving rain away. While the UN has been providing aid, Brazil has been shorn of the natural beauty it once had, and its economic power has been broken with nearly all of its major cities flooded. The future of Brazil is grim indeed, with many of its residents fleeing north over the Amazon Sea. It seems that the country will die a slow, quiet death in the next few decades.

    get out of here stalker!

    erm.. moving on.

For the wealthy, somewhat stable nations, many facets of life are probably the same as before SE. People live in homes and apartments, get up in the morning, go work or go to school, come home and so on.

There seems to have been extensive shelter-training in Tokyo-3, but is that a common thing or just a local affliction due to being the biggest target for Angels on the planet?

Of course, outside the carefully maintained cities and suburbs, there is the problem of "temporary" refugee camps that have become permanent slums. Resistant to even the most dedicated public programs, these sores linger on the fringe of every metro area that is not flooded (or entirely artificial like Tokyo-3, again)

slums breed anarchist and gang violence, as well as general resentment against "leaders" and "government" especially as so many world powers have ceded their strength to big faceless UN.

Migratory populations (like the people fleeing the slowly dying brazilian lands) stress these "refuse" camps even more, swelling the ranks under the straining UN dole.

Whats more, alien (that is, different race) groups grate against each other, leading to increased violence among the social groups and peacekeeping forces.

("Refuse'.. ugh.. buncha damn savages who never learned to speak english or wash themselves. Why should I care if a few 'accidents' happen when we have to clean up their mess, right?")

So, every almost-apoc setting ever, plus supranational organizations trying to turn you into goo/breed supermen/become gods or D, all of the above.

How the UN military works is something that could be really explored. The idea of merging the military forces of the world into one cohesive force is nothing short of insanity. Desperation and necessity can only go so far in the face the obvious hurdles like language and culture but then add things like different technology, supplies or units of measure and things get downright stupid.
But eventually the UN would have to surmount these problems if it wanted a true united military and not a fractured force liable to break apart and support their home countries in the event of a crisis.

I'd say that since the Americans, British, Canadians, Australians and New Zealand have the ABCA program they'd make up a sizable block of any world unified military. Back that up with American experience in world wide operations you'd have a decidedly western slant to the UN military. At least in terms of organization and structure. You can't outfit a world wide military to the standard of a western nation especially in world still trying to recover.

It's a gratuitous Rammstein reference, and since that song describes angels as fearful, lonely and weak it kind of makes sense, if you take the EI's goal as making every man a superior being.

I feel the Eigenart needs a name that is a german abbreviation having to do with the mind or the nervous system though. SEELE, NERV, GEHIRN... maybe name them GEIST?

Iran is one of the most beautiful, and one of the least-inhabited, countries in the world. After the nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan, fallout made the country unsuitable for human life. By 2015, the population is less than ten thousand. Ironically, though, the climate change has turned Iran into a garden - the Shomal has spread to cover most of the country, with no humans to interfere with it. Gazelles now roam free throughout what were once deserts, and if not for the sheer number of rads a person would get simply walking around, it would be a premiere vacation destination.

I think continental Europe could go several ways, here's one I could think of:

You could make the whole continent run by a bureaucratic moloch created from the ruins of France and Germany. Combing France's stereotypical inefficiency with Germany's love for vast bureaucratic structures. You're pilots would spend one hour training on the firing range and the rest of the day filling out 3 forms for every round of ammunition they've spent.
As most of continental Europe's heavy industry centre's are located closer to the alps, I don't think there will be much damage done to the industrial capacities. Countries such as Denmark and the Netherlands have been abandoned although (slow) reclamation efforts are in progress. Major problems are refugees from the flooded mediterranean and agricultural production, as much of it had been outsourced prior to second impact.

    >Refuse

Hmm. The Refuse (Refused? Refuseniks?) could be a collective term for anarchist/mafia gangs that rule in refugee camps and raid supply and aid caravans. Another potential antagonist. A Refuse gang raided a NERV convoy and are holding a low-level operative hostage. Refuse bands are interdicting medical aid trucks meant to bring relief to a city suffering from an Angel attack. A Refuse bandit lord has stolen a valuable Angel sample being ferried across the country on SEELE orders.

GEIST would be in line with NGE's horrible German but it's more or less a synonym for SEELE in German. I would like RÜCKENMARK, although it's probably too long and the umlaut would be problematic.

Maybe ICH oder ÜBER-ICH, the German words for Freud's ego and superego, respectively. It would also go well with the group's goal of keeping humanity's at fields intact.

Spain has become a bright spot in the otherwise dark present of Europe. Through strict governmental controls, they have managed to keep growing their economy by 8% every year, well above the inflation rate for their currency. An influx in immigration and investment has kept employment rates high. However, the country is running out of borrowed time - several sectors including the housing market and public works are predicted to crash in the near future. A recent effort to build an Acrology in Madrid has spurred the market, but no one is sure where the funding is coming from at this point. Additionally, after rising sea levels created a channel between Spain and France just north of the Pyrenees, Spain attempted to claim the French side of the Pyrenees unsuccessfully, and tensions remain high between the two governments.

After Second Impact, some countries were hit especially hard. South Africa was one of the worst off. It no longer exists as a country, simply put. Shockwaves from the event caused major earthquakes that toppled most of its major cities, and an unexplained firestorm ravaged over half of the country. It is a wasteland now, almost all infrastructure destroyed. The single point of interest is a UN naval base near where Cape Town used to be. It is one of several major UN bases that maintain a research fleet to study Antarctica (or what is left of it, anyway). A tent city of refugees stretches away from the UN base, which has neither the facilities or funding to help the volume of people present.

    On Arcologies:

Presented with the devastation and widespread climate changes brought by the Second Impact, mankind was forced to adapt. While not necessary for all areas(and in fact, many inland areas don't bother), many cities that were built after the cataclysm were planned with sustainability, durability, and efficiency in mind.

Arcologies can vary in design, from the fully self-contained and fortified environments of Tokyo-3 to the watershed cities in many regions of the US Southwest, to more simple affairs such as towns where buildings have integrated farm plots or simple, interconnected dormitories lit with artificial light.

NERV bases in particular are invariably attached to an arcology, or are situated near one, as the sheer number of staff and support needed for large operations is simply not feasible without the resources a city can provide. These arcologies are often known as NERV towns, and may have conveniences such as Cruelty Free! NERV synthetic foods, NERV schools for staff's children, NERV Cola, and other conveniences.

This also puts China in a unique position of being the second-greatest science power around. Nerv may be the focus of a crapton of research, but if they want to get it build in any quantity they need to give the plans to China. This probably means that the Chinese military, small though it may be, is pretty damn advanced.

Well let me put it like this. They only need one brain telling fifty to a hundred people where to screw in the bolt.

Now, higher population also gives them the benefit of churning out more educated people. In the past, China has had some of the best school systems we have seen. If you decide to say they put more effort into educating their population, their specialty science might not be as focused as the U.S but they can apply crazy manpower across every spectrum of science.

Now, more food for thought with that is if China and India reach some sort of agreement. I don't recall what India's state is, so this may not even apply, but they have a great population as well[or had].

India's science teams, especially in physics, seem to be doing fairly well. So a possible alliance may reside there.

More food for thought, North Korea is already good at taking care of itself. It won't really lose anything from the new isolation and chaos of the world. Infact, the surrounding areas, now deprived of the government assistance and international support they have grown accustomed to might view North Korea's system as one of stability and saftey

The question and the episode premise answers itself. If they had reason to suspect that Angels could be able to invade from the ocean, having a navy is just good sense.

Though they were transporting Eva 02 as well. With some NERV bases possibly being the only source of vital materials (he who controls Lilith controls the LCL), you'd need to have your transports well-protected.

All that said, I realize this may just be contradictory because there may have been a throwaway line about that being basically the entirety of the world's remaining navy.

North Korea has not yet resumed its food self-sufficiency and relies on external food aid from China, Japan, South Korea and the United States. In 2002, North Korea requested that food supplies no longer be delivered. (Woo-Cummings, 2002)

In the mid-2000s, the World Food Program reported that famine conditions were in imminent danger of returning to North Korea, and the government was reported to have mobilized millions of city-dwellers to help rice farmers.

Now that IS a good question. On the one hand, most of them are probably just around because "Shit! Now we have all these naval vessels we got from all these countries!" But they probably would have decommissioned a bunch of them just to save funding.

But it is worth noting that the UN's control is going to be weakest in the areas that were the most devastated by Second Impact. And these areas are probably defined by being in the Southern Hemisphere and mass flooding. Having a navel fleet to drive right up into your flooded city and start shelling your house is a pretty good reason to not get too uppity if you are in areas where the UN cant afford to really control you.

How about this for the military angle?

The UN Peacekeeping Force is the military arm of the UN world government. It's headquarters in Brussels with district commands in North America, Russia and China. With no real conventional threats the focus of the Force is mainly geared toward peace keeping, counter insurgency, nation building and disaster relief.
Peacekeeper divisions are for the most part made up of their host country nationals and equipped from the same.

While the majority of the Peacekeepers are dedicated to the core missions the Special Response regiments are entirely focused on combating the Angel threat. Truly multi-national, the SR regiments are hybrid units combining disaster relief with the best the conventional military can offer in terms of personnel and equipment. Designed to be the first responders in the event of a Angel attack the SR regiment is usually first on scene and the last to leave.

Second Impact WAS a huge disaster. But by campaign standards that was 15 years ago, and since then industry has been re-established tot he point that building an entire city that slides into the ground to serve as a battleground for 40-meter tall cyborgs is something that happens.

The good news is that Third Impact would happen someplace that wasn't Earth. But it would either end with Adam coming back to Earth to reclaim it, or starting his Angelic ecosystem on some other planet in our solar system which is just going to end badly for us a couple decades down the line when Angels STILL can survive in space and decide to go Space Invaders on our ass.

Canada and Russia probably rose to power, since they have a good deal of landlocked ...land. Canada, China, Russa, and the U.S.A. are probably the four biggest world powers, simple because they can afford to take a bit of flooding.

Australia Southern Africa and South America probaly took a lot of outright damage from being so close to ADAM, and it only got worse in flooding and war, meaning they probably got heavily depopulated, maybe even 75%.

Yeah, give me a second to compile the specifics unless you have an email you would like me to send everything to.

In short, we didn't get through all of the rankings before the campaign ended, but the mechanics were still working just fine. I ended up playing three characters [we were taste testing the whole system, so just me and my gm] but I played the Berserker, Pointman, and Operations Director [who turned out to be one of the most fun characters ever].

His function for support was vital in our fighting, especially with his tactical info.

Pilots: Canus [Berserker], Alec [Pointman], Nomus [AT Tactician], Adella [Skirmisher], and Jeriah [OP Director].

I played Canus, Alec, and Jeriah.

Canus is a norseman, fourteen neospartan and plays it up like a viking kid.

Alec is from Russia, though he is actually Alex, though I will get to that later.

Jeriah is an old soldier, a black man with a love for whiskey and no time for tom foolery. He lost two fingers to a very hungry and desperate man back in his riot control days.

Nomus is a mysterious figure who winds up being Canus' best friend even if he is abit of a loon.

Adella is our german chick. Eventually Alec develops a love interest which he persues and atempts to cut off many times. We also find out she is a nympho <.<

The story starts out with Jeriah in Commander Caine's office. Nomus, Pilot 00, stands in the back ground. It is common knowledge that the two are very close, though the extent of their relationship is unknown to Jeriah.

Caine informs Jeriah over the arrival of their newest pilot, Canus, a young boy from the netherlands. Somewhat of a hot head, but with outstanding test scores in the combat field.

Well in actuality it is all alien. If you pay close attention you realize that all the religious aspects of the show are mostly names and such. It never once says that Adam is the Adam from the Bible, or that the Lance of Longinus is the one that pierced the side of Christ.

Most of it seems to come from SEELE who apparently do believe they are dealing in the divine, because they are all fucking crazy.

We switch to the arrival of Canus, met by our friendly ladynpc, who Canus think is quite cute. She brings Canus to the base, taking him through the nifty underground tour while he gawks at Mankinds achievements. Jeriah has arranged for him to be taken to our Virtual Testing center, to see how he handles with his Eva. He is hooked up, the statistics of his Eva downloaded into the computer already and he is matched up against a generated Angel.

The battle goes poorly for Canus, his Eva being taken out very quickly by a 'beam of light to the chest' for twelve wounds or so. . Canus' ego is not one to be trampled on though. He ejects from his cock pit and begins to charge the Angel on foot when Nomus and the Eva 00 enter the test, and was mopped up quickly too.

The test was cancled and Canus got a serious talking too and slap upside the head from Jeriah. Something akin to 'Pull that stunt in the field and I will have you pulled from the program, do you hear me!?'

Canus, angry at his failure though unable to call it that, is sent to his new home, an apartment he shares with Nomus, thus beggining their new life.

Next week, we show up for Canus' first day of school. Apparently Nomus is not a popular guy, being very quiet and withdrawn. Even Canus has not talked to him much at this point as he spends his days alone reading [one of Canus' drawbacks is Dark Secret. We determined that this was the reading of romantic mangas, something very unmanly and damning to Canus] or training his body.

Canus meets a kid named Bryan, who seems to ask alot of very suspicious questions regarding Nomus. Now, Canus doesn't care much for the guy, but he knows what is secret and not, so keeps his mouth shut. Nothing more of worth happens until the end of the week when the first angel attacks.

Note, the angel is vanilla Sachiel.

As Canus and Nomus are suiting up and getting put into their Eva's, Jeriah is summoned to the bridge where he can make use of all of the expensive equipment. He calls for the launch of the VTOLs and tanks squadrons to intercept the angel. He orders the tanks to move the Angel's position. The angel sees the tanks and fires a laser from its chest at one of the squadrons, lucky for them it misses and instead burns a hole through a nearby building.

Jeriah orders the tanks to fire at will. Due to the size bonus, the tank rounds hit the angel [or would if not for the AT field].

Our weapons are reported to be ineffective. The angel suddenly shoots some sort of ram from its arm at the tanks near its feet, but they are able to make a quick manuever out of harm's way just as the VTOL's arrive. Jeriah orders them to open fire on the angel, but the missiles fail to penetrate the AT field around the angel. Sachhiel swings at the VTOL craft that fired first and rips its right wing off, sending it spiriling to the ground below to explode violently.

The Angel begins to move on, passing up our first defensive line and proving mundane equipment to be ineffective against this alien threat.

Sachiel moves to the edge of the city.

This is supported by the files found in the PSP game that Anno had his hand in. The "Angels" and humanity were part of a plan by ancient aliens to cultivate planets or someshit, it gets vague at that part

The Rebuild movies also expand somewhat on society in the year 2015, but they also remove some minor stuff, and plenty of Angels.

Sweden saw severe flooding in its most heavily populated areas, including Stockholm, but has more high ground than most of Europe, and retains a more temperate climate. The remains of Smolandia and the northern two thirds of the country are home to 8 million surviving pre-Impact Swedes and 13 million refugees. Tensions between these groups are high, and a significant state-army fraction called Fosterlandsjägarna has gone rogue to wage a slow guerilla war against the "foreigners". UN forces do nothing about this, except to protect the few remaining sites of economic significance. Modern-day Sweden is governed from Stockholm-2, located between old Sunne and Grythyttan.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)01:18 No.8948233
The Evangelions have just been deployed. Jeriah decides that using the tanks or VTOL's inside of the city will just get in the way or cause more damage, so he orders them back and has the relief teams prepare themselves for deployment.

    Angel/Eva combat begins -

The angel goes first, lunging at the Evas, quickling closing the gap between them. Jeriah hurridly has his men send their most recent tactical data [I don't remember the name of the ability, sorry, but it applies his intel to the penetration] to Canus and orders Nomus to counter the AT field.

'Yes Sir!' Nomus says loudly as he springs forth at the Angel, spreading his AT field and then attempting to Neut the Angel's. He yells for Canus to take the angel down.

Canus lunges forward with a loud 'Whoo!', strikes the angel [due to his Hatred bonus] and scores a hit on the face, his strike making it through the weakend AT field with nine dmg, four pen. Still, this attack barley harmed the Angel [This was the first 'oh shit...' moment for me].

Canus swings again, more focused this time, and strikes the right arm, his soul 'full of thunder and his heart made of steel' for twelve dmg, four pen, cutting down into the tough flesh.

Next round, [jeriah rolls init poorly, but I use a fatepoint and get to keep it because of his Prepared for the Worst trait]. The angel still goes first however. Suddenly, a laser bursts from it chest and strikes Canus' Eva in the chest. It rips around his eva and hits Nomus in the body but Nomus is able to bring up his defense' in time and the blast does no dmg to him. Canus takes eight wounds though, leaving one.

From the attack and following synch disruption, Canus is filled with a terrible rage. He screams and throws himself at the angel with a wild fury, striking at Sachiel's leg only to have his blow turned back by its AT field. His second strike misses as well.

Jeriah and Nomus go at once with Jeriah feeding him tactical info on the Angel's weakspots, now updated. Nomus fully neuts the AT field and charges in with his spear, hitting it in the body but barely making it through the armor.

[At this stage, Canus didn't invest in any AT abilities really. Wasn't thinking to team up and use spread and Neut together on the angel, instead we were just taking seperate rolls]

Next round, Nomus goes first, brings his AT field to max and attacks the angel again, ineffectivly. The Angel rears its arm back, its ram lunging forward, grazing Nomus' Eva's head.

Jeriah yells at Canus to get back into the fight, feeding his Eva the updated tactical info. Canus swings his axe, missing once, and then barely grazing the Angel the second time.

Next round, Jeriah updates Canus again and Canus makes a called shot for the Angel's head striking it with a good roll and sinking his axe blade into its head, spraying a strange orange substance from the wound. It swings in retaliation but stumbles and misses Canus then swings again with its claws, scratching Canus' Eva's face up.

Nomus comes at the angel from behind, stealth his weapon as he jabs at the Angel, missing terribly before abandoning his spear in favor of grappling the Angel. Nomus holds it in place for the next round when Canus makes another called shot and whacks Sachiel in the face with his axe.

Things are NEVER la lee dah. Countries may unite, but not people. If countries take droves of refugees there WILL be huge tensions.

America: Anti-big govt militias would be pretty damn big. Infact, America may be forced to take a less integrated role without there being revolution. Even today, I don't know of any US soldiers serving as part of the UN. Even moderates would flip a dick if we surrendered our sovereignty like that.

Either America is much more cautious about being part of a world govt and may try to help as a semi-independent ally or they'd isolate themselves.

I just feel like pointing this out: Modern missiles today have around an 80% success rate, and it gets worse the longer the missile sits around without you doing constant maintenance.

Rockets just aren't prone to long-term survivability without high technology to keep them operable.

And as far as nuclear weapons are concerned, their half lives actually make them useless as bombs after a few centuries. Even less than that.

I somehow doubt that a valuable piece of equipment would be allowed to vanish like that. Subs are extremely important assets, not just for military use but also for supply convoys and evac duty (just like all other surviving ships) so I think the UN keeps track of most remaining ones.

BMJ, if you're still there, there's going to be a delay in the final versions of the fluff stuff. I finished everything, and managed to lose the big file of final versions whiel cleaning it all up. I know it's somewhere in my computer, but I can't find it.

And I do know how retarded that sounds.

I can give you everything I've recovered, being most of it, but all the stuff I did in the last two weeks is going to have to be excavated from my shitty labyrinthine hard drive.

Even today, I don't know of any US soldiers serving as part of the UN. Even moderates would flip a dick if we surrendered our sovereignty like that.

    >Either America is much more cautious about being part of a world govt and may try to help as a semi-independent ally or they'd isolate themselves.

I would not be entirely surprised if the United States is not the democracy we know and love after SI. A lot of countries probably declared martial law during Second Impact. I wonder how long it took for some of them to finally give up that status...

Seele in particular would find the US under martial law much easier to control.

Well from what I've gathered about US Continuity of Government operations. We've got tons of ways to keep the country organized and control with martial law and so on but little to no ways to get out of martial law or reinstitute the old government.

Also remember some US general making the prediction if we had another big terror attack, that we might need a new form of government.

So maybe the US is still under martial or has devolved into some sort of related autocratic system?

As to your other point. I'm sure alot of countries have just got off martial law and some never will. Well by the time Third Impact comes anyway.

OP, i reccomend you watch blue submarine number 6. the world looks the same, and it could help iron out some differences. Adds alot of naval stuff.

ignoring the cheesy villain and evil plots, the universe could easily be post second impact, pre teenage kids in mechs eva universe.

also i reccomend the alternative mangas that flesh out some other details. Adding weird shit like Kawaru attending high school with gendo. and Kaji having even more secretive background stuff going on.

This. Children born around that time had greater receptivity to Evas. Actually, every single kid in the highschool that Shinji, Rei, and Asuka went to was a potential Eva candidate. Those three were just the best of the bunch.

There was one episode when one of Shinji's friends was selected to pilot a new Eva. Things didn't end well.

AdEva doesn't touch on exactly what is required for the Eva pilots other than effectively saying that the GM may place whatever restrictions on who or what can pilot and Eva and why for their campaign as they see fit.

Maybe you need to be born after Second Impact. Maybe you need to have a particular gene. Maybe you need to have had a near-death experience. Its really up to the GM and whatever kind of plot he has in store.

This way, depending on campaign, the pilots can be the teenagers we expect or adults or a mix of the two as the GM sees fit.

It seemed the best course of action considering its one of the Grey Areas of Eva, and this way no one feels like their personal theory has been rebuked.

    So, currently:

Russia is probably doing pretty damn well.

The United States, in addition to have a busted economy, is either still under Martial Law or under a government that is certainly more powerful than the pre-Impact democracy it replaced.

China is both the worlds foremost manufacturer of just about everything and just barely keeping its people fed, probably in debt to the UN by now as the UN is funneling food to the Chinese workers to keep everything running.

The UN is mostly running around trying to keep everyone stable and happy, and blowing the shit out of anything that looks like it might cause trouble. Counterinsurgency is a huge priority, and they have the only functional Navy left.

Pirates are a big deal, especially if you don't stay on the UN patrolled sea lanes. Anyone sneaking around the ocean can probably get around the limited UN patrols without too much effort.

Anyone with a submarine left is a badass.

Stalkers/relic hunters are high payed for their job if they are any good. Salvaging in flooded areas is probably a big industry.

I like where you are going with this, /tg/! I knew I could expect good content out of you. But this thread isn't autosaging yet, lets see if we cant breath new life into this yet!

Hmm.. So. Some thoughts. Also forgive wall o text.

Russia is doing well due to weather right? What if their the new breadbasket? If its grain, its grown there and shipped out everywhere else.

US should be democratic but its shifted. It'd be like a Whig looking at modern politics, they'd have no clue WTF was up. They put up with security stuff we'd never let anyone do. You have problems with immigrants, which the US always does. Maybe you even have low level insurgents from militia groups.

China is a world player but heavy importer. It's all made in China and the use the income to pay Russia for food stuffs. Alot of the country might as well say owned by the UN/Nerv.

UN has the only Navy becuase their the only people with the pocket book for it. It doesn't matter who you are, you don't have a blue water navy. Coast gaurds are common but carriers aren't being flown under anything but a UN flag.

UN also fights the little wars that keep the world moving. Keeping access open to raw materials the world needs. They can't be everywhere so they have to budget. If you have oil or minerals, UN is in your country get used to it.

Hmm.. I'd actually disagree about subs. Subs are the one thing countries play with the UN doesn't. Their the ace in the hole in case the Cold War comes back. But they are few in number and dropping as parts are canbalized from ones that have stopped working.

Have to do some searching on pirates and ponder the religious element.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)22:55 No.8963465
    > religious element.

Now THERE is a major thought.

Post-Impact religion MUST be mentioned someone. You cant have a crises like Second Impact without some sort of nutjobs rising up.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:05 No.8963595
    >>8963323

Okay. Forgive wall of text Mark II

    Non-nation state related stuff.

People fight over a lot of stuff and Second Impact has only added to that.

Religious wars have not ended. (Won't touch what this has done to religion in general yet, that’s something for everyone to hash out.) The Angels just threw gas on the fire. You have crazies on both sides. Those that believe they are messengers from God and those who think they are from the devil. In civilized areas they protest each other and get into fist fights. In the third world they shoot each other to hell and blow up buildings.

And even if they think you're doing God's work, they can be dangerous. Pilot identities are kept secret not just for safety but for security. These guys would take articles of a pilots clothing for their wacky cults if they could. "I was touched by the pilot of 01! My heart troubles were cured!" Want to bear/have your children.. Etc etc

Pirates are a big deal. They are a danger even on the UN patrolled sea lanes. And there have been incidents of cities trashed to get them. The UN doesn't put up with them and their more then willing to curb stomp them. The few that have run afoul of Seele are gone. Enough people have learned that to hijack Nerv related property or personnel, doesn't end well for you or your family.
    >> Poke-War Veteran 04/03/10(Sat)23:10 No.8963680
    >>8963465
I imagine that organized religon would die during SI, but a great deal of people would still practice individually. With the devastation so widespread, localized beliefs and cults would gather strength just after SI, but lose it again as things stabilized.

Other people.. Last wall o text

Stalkers/relic hunters. Were a huge industry to begin with. The longer stuff sits in water the more useless it gets. So its gotten a bit smaller but its still a big job, alot of people make good money. Getting art. Finding old supplies. Looting sunken banks. Their somewhere between mercs and salvage crews. They have to be to protect against pirates and local militia. Some of them are probably pirates to, when they don't have salvage to do.

Militia groups/Warlords/Gangs. If the UN isn't in your town or the local army. You probably listen to these guys. They exist in the 1st world as well but are frequently stepped upon by the UN and local governments.

Odd. Question. Is out buddy the PMC still around? I could see the UN contracting alot of security out in the 3rd world so they can focus on angels and bigger stuff.

Oh and for me anyway. The 1st world are the major UN guys. 2nd world are those countries that weren't totally trashed or have resources the UN needs. 3rd world is f**ked, you have nothing the UN wants or needs. You'll see them when they come by to blow up the local warlord becuase he's pissed them off.
