    237 KB Retro Sci-Fi Quest Episode 2! Retro Sci-Fi Quest !kPsBfsHSpM 03/31/10(Wed)18:48 No.8901221
On the last thrilling installment of RSFQ:

The daring and handsome Captain Arthur Dent (this name can be changed) landed on the lush and exciting jungle planet of Galabarr V, supposedly on a mission of peace. Not long after landing, your intrepid crew was attacked by the fearsome Zeldessi, a race of large aliens whose sacred ground you violated.
Thinking quickly, you sent Private Carter as yourbody double to negotiate. When things went belly-up, you staged a daring rescue. When we last left you, the Zeldessi chieftain laid unconscious at your feet. Carter has been found, but appears to be out cold. You have thirteen crewmen equipped with blaster rifles with you, and four grizzled marines. The bridge you took into the throne room has been destroyed for reasons unknown, and a large force of Zeldessi honor guard are now breathing down your neck.
Also, your critical bridge crew, including the lovely Valerie Jennings, are being held captive aboard your ship, the USS Ironhearte.

Where do you go from here, adventurer?

You are within the inner sanctum of the Cheiftain. On the far wall of this cavernous, circular room, is a massive staircase with his throne at the top. You notice a faint glow emanating from the back of the leader's seat.
To the west is another bridge leading out to another of the large spires that the Zeldessi seem to reside in.
There is a large table in front of you, and you can see a grand staircase leading downwards, out of the building, on the wall behind you.

You walk stoically over to the Chieftain and with a single blast of The Equalizer liquify the beast's head. It's shaggy hair is scorched and covered in blood. A large hole is burnt to the lower level of the building.

Grabbing Carter, you latch onto the handle of the Zip-Liner 2000 and swing majestically across. You dismount with a double-backflip and stick the landing.

Your men follow suit (sans amazing feats of acrobatics), but one slips and tumbles to his death. You never got a chance to learn his name. You're across the chasm now, and can see the bridge to your ship to the southwest.

    Without further ado!

"Hey beast, I hear you have huge guts!" You shout as the alien clutches its face.

With all of your manly brawn, you dash forth, grabbing onto its shoulders. You vault up and do a handstand on its shoulders, before bringing a mighty knee down into its mandibles! The alien screams in impotent rage:

"Aaaargh! foul huuuumohn! I will crush y-"

He is unable to complete the thought, as you bring a foot down into its mouth, and are rewarded by a satisfying crunch as brain matter and skull fragments shoot out the back of its head. A large dent is left in the floor.

You proceed to glare menacingly at the other aliens, they appear to be wholly terrified of your martial prowess!

Not even bothering to put your shirt back on, you charge over to Jennings and take her in your (bulging) arms. She rests her head against your copious chest-hair, and eyes you with reverence (and maybe a little lust).

"Everyone! Follow me!" You shout, scooping Jennings up in your arms. You and the other six members of your bridge crew jog back to cover, and on the way you stop to roundhouse kick a Zeldessi standing in your way. The beast is knocked to the side, falls over a railing and out the broken window, and drops like lead to the ground below.

Grand Cannon and Tesla Torpedoes. Because fuck defensive tactics.

As for the fighter, no flame decals, lets put schwinn-style lines and white walls on it.

According to the guy from the armory, it's a massive cannon that will be loaded into the hull of the Ironhearte. It fires armor piercing, high-impact magnetic slugs, and "something else." The customs officer refuses to speak further on the matter.

The grand cannon is slow to fire, but one hit from this bitch will wreck anything less than a Class 5 Ship.

    >> Anonymous 03/31/10(Wed)22:36 No.8905074
As for the other weapons, i vote the tesla torps or the repeaters. We have no reason as of yet to expect to be in multi-ship battles where broadside-firing is necessary. Let's pack all our firepower on the front so we can focus fire on one target.

Also, I prefer torpedoes to repeaters. I like the idea of self-propelled weapons. Also, we can probably jury-rig them with different payloads, and use the tubes to launch different things in the future if need be. Repeaters are just boring-ass machine guns.

Also, care to rename the Ironhearte or do any other cosmetic changes?

    Cannon and Torps it is!

But you still have a day of recuperation ahead of you, hot shot. Local scuttlebutt is that some rogues hang around the mid-deck bars. Maybe some recruits for whatever daring adventures lay ahead?

You can also retire to your pre-paid suite, or get dem crystals checked out.

You stroll down to one of the bars in the mid-decks, making sure to bring Major Dobson (your marine veteran) and Corporal Carter. You bring concealed phazers with you, in case things go awry.

Here's a good one: "The Fornicating Fizznard."

You see a number of seedy-looking gentlemen filling the bar. The cloying stench of tobacco, urine, and Crawtian Space-ale fill the air.

    What do?

You see a number of men eying you warily. Three in particular catch your eye:

    1. A man wearing a duster and wide-brimmed hat, boots up on the table in the corner. He has an eye patch and a scar beneath it.

    2. A monstrous gentleman with dark skin sitting at the bar with two pints of bright-green liquid in his hands. He has a large Ion-Carbine slung over his shoulders, and two range-enhancing goggles rest on the bridge of his nose.

    3. A man in an older model suit much like your own. He has a dome helmet and various bits of scrap have been welded onto his suit as makeshift armor.
