02/24/10(Wed)01:38 No.8254823>>8254654 On a similar note, when the Rogue finally meets his end, and passes from this realm to the next, he finds himself in a dark place. His memories return, and he knows. He knows suddenly, that he is guilty of a deception unimaginable. His soul is pure, but the taint of deception tears at his soul. He sees red light, as the Court of the Dark Prince rises around him. He looks up to silence. A horned figure staring down at him. The red goat extends a hand, and helps the beleaguered trickster to his feet. There is a sound in the distance, but the Rogue doesn't notice it, as Asmodeus leads him by the hand towards a great door, with rusted hinges and dust so thick on it that it cannot have ever been opened. The sound grows louder. Music? It is familiar, but he cannot quite place it.
"Goodbye, so soon, and wasn't that a crime..."
The door opens. White light. The Rogue sees an armored figure steps out. The Paladin, smiling knowingly. The music grows clear. The Rogue knows it well. There is a tapping, as Asmodeus's hooved feet begin to clop. The Paladin slowly sets into a jig. And, grinning, the Rogue dances with him, waving to the grinning Dark Prince as he goes, through that door, into an eternity of exultation and victory, where this display of just brilliance, of poetic greatness, is only the very first letter, of the most cursory of forewords on the first page of the book of his glory. A book that never ends. |
