Good afternoon/evening /tg/. It is time for HANA Quest.

Last session the two AIs, KANE and ABLE, perished in a fight in the Virtuality. A ghost (ghosts?) in the Core emerged, and took its vengeance. And now ABLE's shell is looking at you rather shyly.

    >"Hey, Thirteen. Its nice to be home again."

You are Hannah / HANA A13 / Thirteen. And this is HANA Quest. Welcome, and enjoy.

Two walks up to her, and quietly rubs a strand of hair between her thumb and forefinger before lowering herself to look Nineteen in the eyes.

"You... are certainly pretty, if not small. Are you an AI as well? You seem... different."

    >>7952217
You nod to the guards around you, who take that as an "all clear" and speak quietly into their suit radios.

You slowly approach Nineteen, and embrace her warmly. She responds in a similar fashion, and looking over your shoulder at Two, laughs lightly.

"I was taking a short reprieve in Thirteen's mind. My original self passed away long ago, and she found me in a ship's computer where I was dwelling."

You slowly free yourself from Nineteen's embrace, and turn to the Seekers and Two.

"That Bastard KANE killed ABLE, but he got what was coming to him."

From the speakers above you, booms a rather loud reply. "Yes, and we thank-you." The voice itself is of no single tone, but sounds like a throng of people speaking in sync, both male and female.

"Who are we exactly? We are... many individuals comprised into a single being. Not of our own choice, but our fate in the Virtuality left us with few options but to merge. As KANE and ABLE would take over one of our bodies, our selves would be shunted aside - we then discovered that we could hide ourselves in the Virtuality and not be destroyed. So many minds in a single place need to condense to avoid being detected and wiped, and thus we came to be."

"What exactly happened? One by one we were shucked from our shells and left here to observe the fates of our physical selves. It was... disturbing yet most interesting. I believe some of the more cynical guys in here took up a betting pool on who would last the longest. Of course, with all the time that has passed, they no longer seem to care.

You should know the basic details, that we were created, as were the AI. Our bodies were given over to the AI, and ol' KANE snapped. He erased ABLE in the second core, and ABLE's shells started to kill his shells - trying to reach KANE himself. They were too weak on their own to actually beat him in the Core - just copies after all. And so we died, yet lived on. The researchers here tried to regain control, but it seems one of the KANE shells was able to access the second network control and flood the installation with gas. Most of his shells perished when he tried to take Security, but at least he was smart enough to disable the turrets to keep from being shot."

They slowly turn to face you, and bring themselves up to their full 8 foot height. Three pairs of multifaceted eyes examine you silently for a time, and then one of them begins to speak.

"First there were two, and now a third joins. Birth and Death are twins together, yet Life itself joins the two. We dig and tunnel among the stars, and see more than the eye itself can see. As one can sense the rumbling of the ground to be wary of the collapse to come, so can we. Will another people walk among us? Will another hand touch the stars? Will others strive to prevent this from coming to pass? Will the shaking of the ground recede to nothing, or split the earth asunder? Whatever the outcome, however the stars may turn, we wish you care in the times to come."

You bid the Architects farewell, and enter the Research Encampment where you find a suited-up Seeker with his helmet on. He looks slightly surprised to see a third person with you, but simply approaches you and salutes. Exactly! Think about how much more peaceful the galaxy will be if humanity doesn't come back. I mean come on, look at what we've done. And even though the Fleet Council admitted that they fucked up with the War, I'd be willing to bet that upon seeing a bunch of their worlds in the hands of aliens, and having a whole fleet of ships at the ready (remember, most of the Terran Navy went into Heavens Gate as well), they could very well decide to start another war.

But more importantly, I don't like them, and I take these things personally. They did bad things, like this very installation and the HANA B series, as well as not getting stressed out HANA As like Six and her sisters psychological help which they clearly needed. This is a case of Too Dumb to Live.

You nod your approval to the Seeker pilot, and the three of you squeeze into the small shuttle to travel back to Assura. You take a final look at the asteroid field behind you before the space shifts to bright lines and darkness.

The trip is rather short and uneventful, with Nineteen pinching herself every now and then to make sure this isn't a dream. Two puts her long legs up on the seat across from her and slumps into her seat, staring at the streaks of stars through the view-port.

With a slight sensation of being jerked forwards, the stars outside return to unblinking points, and Assura Station is once again seen. There seem to be many more ships around it than before - several large Destroyers and multiple frigates, as well as what seems to be three Battleships.

We explain that we weren't sure if the captain wasn't try to kidnap us. It seems like he won't as he allowed us to leave without so much as a question and didn't seem hurried to get us to whatever location he wanted.
However, it seems obvious that something is really stressing him and since it seems his job to care for us/protect us things might hit the fan soon.
We tell them to be careful and not to let their guard down, use whatever facilities in the restroom we require and join the captain again.

Two and Nineteen nod that they understand, and exit the room as you follow. "Don't worry, I have no intention of dying again." Nineteen remarks as you spot the Captain standing in the same spot, tapping his foot slightly.

"Are you all ready?" he asks.
"As ready we will ever be." You reply calmly.

He quickly heads away from the dock, and your group follows close behind him. Eventually you come to a modestly decorated room with several tables in it, each set with an assortment of food. You notice your old bodyguards sitting at another table a short distance away. Thal'tek takes a seat at the largest table, and as another Seeker hurriedly brings another chair and place setting, motions for the three of you to take a seat.

You all do so, and he drinks modestly from a small container before looking up at you again.

"It was an honor to protect you previously, and to entrust myself to your piloting skill was no easy task. Yet I must ask you, Hannah. What do you intend to do now?"

"First off, what do you plan to do after you find your missing friend? How do you think humanity will react if they meet us? Is it merely a sect of humanity, or the whole that will react in that way? And lastly, is your race worth shaking ours in two?"

Damit, now I have to act in-character. Le sigh.

"I'm not sure what I'll do once I find Six; I guess we could keep helping you and the Architects understand human tech better. But sooner or later, it would be nice to settle down somewhere and just live for a change. No missions, no danger, just a normal life.

As to how humanity will react... The last thing that happened before I went into stasis was a large war between humanity and an alien race. Our leaders declared them an extreme thread, and we destroyed them. For some reason that is still unclear to me, our final act of destroying their homeworld was enough to change their minds about the alien race and become horrified at what they'd done. A bit hypocritical considering that it was fairly obvious that the enemy was indeed sentient all along, contrary to the propaganda.

As a last effort, they began to attack many of our worlds, killing thousands. An understandable reaction, given that it had just been demonstrated that there really was no hope of us letting them live peacefully. Humanity hid itself, all except for the Fleet Council which stayed on our home planet in the face of possible destruction, as an act of humility." Here we pause to sneer, amused by how ridiculous their actions were.

"Though those who ordered the attack are gone now, I would not doubt that there are more people who would be xenophobic, people in positions of power who would have no qualms about setting out to reclaim any world now inhabited by any of the races now prevalent in the galaxy.

To be honest, I am biased in this matter. I hold no love for what has been done to me and Six, as well as the other HANAs. I do not think we are worth breaking your people apart over. And as for the fate of humanity... I sometimes think I should have let Six destroy them when we had the chance."

    >How do you think humanity will react if they meet us?
"They'll probably be afraid and I could understand why, considering all these events that happened after their first contact with an alien race. The question is if they'd do anything thing stupid. After seeing how they handled the crisis that lead to the loss of the entire terran empire, I'm not too sure if they wouldn't start shooting before you would be able to open a communication channel."

You bring up the ship intercom, and announce that you'll be heading to the Bael Gate. Two opens up a small video link to you, and peers through rather cautiously. "Hey. It will be nice to remember my Sister there. As for Six... I suppose I'll have to meet her eventually." Nineteen also opens up a link, and laughs lightly when she sees you. "I certainly don't envy you in there. I never really wanted to fly anyway." She flops back on her cot and tosses her arms up in the air, waving them around before slapping them down on the mattress. "Don't die, OK?"

You unhook the ship from the dock, and slowly pass through the Station into space to see five Destroyers waiting for you. "We are sorry, human. We may be going against the wishes of the Council, but its for the good of our race. Sacrifices must be made."

You have just left the Assura Station dock. Seeker ships do not have shields. In fact, no known ships have shields. The Destroyers are Heavy Kinetic Slug destroyers - their guns are slow tracking, but powerful.

Armament-wise your ship has a central Ion Cannon emplacement, a rather small bore cannon but due to its narrow beam it has a rather long range. It also has an Ion Pulse cannon on either side of the ship, and twin rapid-fire Kinetic-Slug cannons (quad barreled) on the top of the ship.

You bring the Sixseeker close to the wreckage of One's ship, and Two departs in her environmental suit. Two marines follow her close by as she docks with the floating hulk and begins to carefully move deeper within the ship.

Here and there are large holes, evidence of the work of Six's Ion Cannon. You link into Two's helmet camera, and watch as she passes the stiff corpses of the human crew, frozen and floating in the zero-G. The hall gets wider, and it empties into what appears to be a familiar looking pod room. You can see the pod that must have housed One - it has been nearly sliced in half by a rather large piece of bent metal. Looks like shrapnel that large wasn't going to be stopped easily.

Two turns on her headlamp and looks into the pod for a moment, and places a hand on the splintered glass. You could swear that you see small spheres of water dancing in her helmet, but it could be your imagination. After a short time, Two turns around, and walks silently back to her shuttle.

"Thank-you. What's done is done. Lets move on."

"Hello? Is anyone receiving this transmission? I know this is a long shot, but if this is your probe Six, it's me. Hannah. I didn't die back at Thanela Prime, but I was hurt and was forced into stasis. But I'm back, and I'm trying to find you."

The large probe continues to charge its Jump Engines, and fires off a parting message before leaping away.

"Unknown classified as Human. Designated: HANA. Keyword: Six. Referencing... HANA <A6>. Primary Directive Fulfilled. Beginning Secondary..."

The small craft leaps off into space as you burn towards the Gate. It takes some time, but eventually you come alongside it and attach an umbilical cable to it. You make sure to put up a firewall, and as your Capacitor charges rapidly you search through its data-banks for information. You acquire the location of the Heaven Gate, as well as the location the probe jumped to. Utopia gate.

Do you folks wish to jump through the gate, or hang out? I'm going to end this for the night at this point - as soon as you make your choice I'll post a writeup and then close down till next time.

I'm shooting for either a Thursday night session at 8 PM EST or a Saturday night one at 8 PM, depending on classwork.

Well, I vote we wait here for an hour or so. It's been over two thousand years; if that wasn't Six, then an extra hour will hardly make any difference. And if it *was* from Six, then we just let her know where we are, and that we're alive and well, so with some luck she'll come to us.

If she's not here within and hour, two hours tops, we leave for Utopia. Though we might want to hide behind some of the wreckage while we wait for Six, just in case something hostile comes instead.

jump, asap, we no longer have the advantage of surprise, if possible set the gate to purge the log of our jump, head for the utopia gate. i feel we can now trust the seekers with the gate location info, upload the coordinates to a seeker database when we can...time to see who's side the seeker's really are on.

Surprise won't help against Six. We're less than a quarter her size and without nukes or something we'll be largely unable to harm her. The only thing catching her by surprise might do is make her think we're trying to sneak attack her, which would then lead her to attack us.
    >> What a Faggot !QF5oszRdpY 02/06/10(Sat)23:02 No.7958029
the only thing we have...err had going for us was that 6 did not know we were actively searching for her...of course this is all assuming that that probe is actually from 6's faction and not from the sleeper's as part of their contingency plant to reawaken. If 6 arrives through this gate what's to stop her from blasting us into subatomic particles, we have recieved no notification or signal that would suggest otherwise.
Continued survival of our race should be our top priority and waiting around for a super-tech death machine helmed by an insane human/ai hybrid is NOT something I would call healthy.
I say jump now, with the logs set to erase, our best chance stands to take away 6's biggest strength her ship. If we can sneak up and board her vessel some how then we will be on relatively even footing. Until then we must remain under the radar per se.

You stick behind some of the wreckage in the large debris field to disguise yourself visually - but if someone comes looking with active scanners you'll stick out like a sore thumb anyway.

You wait for a bit more than an hour before any spacial disturbances are seen - a single sleek silver ship appears near your debris field, decelerating rapidly to sub-light speeds. It emits a short transmission burst upon arrival: "This is a Scouting Vessel from Utopia Refuge - our stationary sensor platform picked up a disturbance here earlier. Is anyone there?"

    >If 6 arrives through this gate what's to stop her from blasting us into subatomic particles

Well, the fact that she has no reason to harm her best friend comes to mind. Seriously, I doubt I'm going to be able to convince you that Six is anything but some crazy HANA who will kill us just because we're looking for her, and if that is indeed the case then there's no point in arguing anymore because neither of us will accept the others views.

However, I'd like to point out that Six is our friend, we helped her when everyone else tried to kill her, and she thought we were dead, but we're not. I see no reason why she would want to kill us other than 'lol she spacecrazy she kill any1 who tri to fined her', which Supernova has said WILL NOT HAPPEN.

On the next quest related note, Telekinesis is out. I can't balance it properly without making it NOT FUN. Air involves controlling the oxygen concentration in areas around you - still trying to work that out. Water will replace shield. Still need to work on the Passive Ability for that. Might boost Fire slightly.

    So far we have:
    Fire
    Ice
    Water
    Air
    Empath
    Lightning

The weapon skills have been combined.
    Rifles + Pistols
    Knives + Hand-to-Hand
Heavy Weapons (think Stingers and TOWs) + Automatic Rifles

That's a good description, except that YOU ARE NOT BEING LOGICAL AT ALL. You are being cautious, yes, but to the point of paranoia. I highly suggest you reread our last encounter with Six. It certainly doesn't make it look like she'd want to hurt us. And lastly, she isn't, and I quote, "an insane human/ai hybrid". That was Kane. Six is a HANA, just like us. We have nothing to do with AIs.

Though now I'm afraid that Six might be dead. Unless she went into stasis, she wouldn't be able to live for two thousand years. I hope she's still around.

shame shield was pulled, unless you can do similar things with water a la fluid barriers, or ice walls. Bullets can't penetrate 6 inches to 1 foot of water.
