01/19/10(Tue)15:15 No.7668871She seems surprised at your response- had she expected you to haggle? To beg for it to be lowered? You don't know. Regardless, she takes the money. "All right, done. Wait here until closing, then I'll have someone guide you to the place."
You nod, and she ushers you into another room. It seems to contain several chairs, a single candle for light, and no other people. You seat yourself and begin to wait. Time passes quickly, the dim burbling of voices from the store occasionally reaching your ears. Eventually, Diana returns with a girl following her, and speaks to the child. "Here she is. Take her to the house, give her the key, and come back. We've got other things to do tonight."
The girl turns to you gestures to follow. She leads you quickly through the now-sleepy tradesman's district and towards the worse part of town, then deftly through several bad neighborhoods until you come to a door. As you walk, your vision begins to clear- the eye drops must be wearing off. Your guide is a well-groomed young girl with an innocent face and pale red hair. She smiles, hands you a key, and points to the door, then dashes off.
You stare after her. She hadn't ever spoken to you; you wonder why. Regardless, you try the door. It leads immediately to steps downward, and those end at another door which opens to a large basement. It's small, dingy, and utterly lifeless, filled with a few broken crates and scattered cobwebs. The floor is cracked and rotting floorboards, the walls the crumbling masonry of the building above's foundation. There are no windows.
It seems that you have a place to stay. Half the night stretches before you.
